@@jmm1174 it’s a bit beyond the SS 1LE in price, but not quite ZL11LE, especially when packages and options start piling onto the GT 350R
Edit: the GT350R is ~$73000 so it’s WAY beyond the SS 1LE. So many people want to compare the two when all they likely want is to piss on Chevys.

Every time I hear the Voodoo, I know it revs to 8250, but I always find myself thinking it redlines lower than it does...so when it passed that audible expectation, it feels like it'll rev to infinity. Mama mia.
I would like them to make an aluminator version. Cross plane but same rpm.
The best line is when Cammisa wound it out on Head2Head for the first time: " Are they kidding?!? They're kidding." And then lots of unintelligible orgasmic noises 😂

Spectacular car, and that 6-speed is special, but I would argue the GT500, without the carbon fiber/track package, would be a better experience for under $100K.
Eh lots of other stuff that’s just as fun if not better for the same price range. It’s not really that quick stock.
Was able to scrimp and save since 2015 when the GT350 came out and finally bought a 2020 Black GT350 last year. Carbon fiber instrument panel from the factory and Cup2s are just the icing on the cake from a monsterous sounding engine. Got a car seat in the back so my kid can have a little fun too on the way to daycare.

GT350R will go down as one of the greatest American cars EVER made in history, the 500 is an unbelievable car that humbles 300k plus supercars but the 350R has such a special driving experience that no car for that price can give you.

The car really isn't as fast as people let on. One of the most over hyped cars of all time. A PP2 GT is almost as good for wayyyyyy less.
To me it’s just so present how much engineering and work was done to make this car so amazing.

so, to quote Archer "this must be hard to drive, with such a massive, throbbing erection" lmao I tend to be kinda harsh on armerica cars, since it's always been such a shame to me that we make all these amazing v8's yet they're almost always in big heavy behemoths with handling as an afterthought. And while one of the first things i would do with my gt350 would be to find sommmmmmme way to reduce the weight by a couple hundred pounds, and put way skinnier tires on it, I do love these

It is. However putting a flat plane crank in an engine this large is a recipe for high maintenance. Whether it's Italian or American, vibrations will be an issue.

If I remember correctly I think the 350r comes with the resonators deleted from the factory. Such an unbelievable sounding vehicle!

It’s funny how all these new cars keep coming out with more power, better specs, etc, and yet, the Shelby GT350 is still one of the best drivers cars out there. High rev, good power, intoxicating sound, great chassis...

this car is so good that I bought two and someone offered to buy my first one above msrp.. its one of the best drivers cars, unbelievable until you actually drive one, like seriously... not even about the speed anymore, theres plenty of cars faster but the way this car makes you feel.
I just laugh my ass off every time I push in the clutch at high rpm and it let's out a nice big pop
I Bought 3 last year including an R. Incredible car and I have driven every exotic up to 7 figure plus cars on road and on track.

It's not the quickest thing on the street but im grinning every time I drive it. IDC if my wifes 17 year old SL 55 kicks my ass at the drag strip, it's boring compared to the 350.
Yes but people don't drive cars anymore. They want appliances more then vehicles. Hell majority don't even know how to drive a manual. Sad 😥

That engine is something else. I'm not even driving it, or riding along, but this engine makes me smile. The noise it makes above 7k rpm is just wonderful.
I have a 17 gt350 straight piped with full kooks exhaust and no cats. I can’t even describe the sound that it makes at 8250 rpm but it’s nothing short of glorious

I often watch this video from time to time. Thomas is spot on in the comparison between the GT350 and the GT PP2! As an owner of both cars, PP2 1st and upgrading to my dream car of the GT350, I cannot explain the comparison he shared any better! On the drive home from the dealership, I was speechless... often infected with the bolt on modifications bug, I summed it up by saying that this car needs nothing. On this earth, there are very few cars on the planet that you can say that I can have as much driving this car hard in the 1st and 2nd gear with the equal satisfaction in 3rd and 4th gear on a fast winding road? I yearn for the day when I get the opportunity to flog a GT350R, because the 2019 GT350 is just that damn great!

I just got my R 2 months ago and I live in Illinois I just put her away it was painful putting the cover on it ! I’ve had Porsche’s always had do exhausts etc this car rocks my world stock !

The revving almost reminds me of a Yamaha R6. It goes so freakin high that you almost don't want to rev it all the way out because you feel like you're going to instantly break it

500 is a street monster, 350r is a track monster! The Viper ACR and the 350r are perfect examples of brilliant American track focused cars. Both also look Insanely good with white black and red
Viper ACR yes. 350R not, especially when SS 1LE is as or faster than at all but the longest tracks which emphasize HP over chassis performance. Also, need to consider the PSC2s 350R comes on as well. Just not worth the extra $$$ and vodoo headaches if you are really tracking the car hard. Most folks will never exploit the available performance and just like to hear the engine sound and cruise. Which is fine, but really "one of the all time greats"? Not really.
@@FL50ssp in terms of driver engagement, noise, looks, and enjoyment the 350r is better in my opinion. Your opinion may be different, but everyone loves the 350r. It’s a brilliant machine, and I’m a lifetime mopar fan.
@@nathanmaynard131 Not sure everyone loves the 350r but ok if you want to believe that go ahead. As for driver engagement, Alpha chassis is so much better than 350r and that has been proven. If by driver engagement you are referring to an unsettled chassis when you begin to push the car hard. Then yes you are correct 350r is certainly more involved as you are having to correct for chassis shortcomings. Looks are subjective, as is sound. As for enjoyment, this is also subjective. But from my perspective, I'm very glad I passed on buying a 350r. I for one do not consider oil consumption, blown engines, horrible dealership experience/s as enjoyment. But to your point maybe some do and are willing to pay more for less. One day in the future the herd will see the 6th Gen Camaro for what it really is. Until then we can continue to disagree. Enjoy your 350r and I hope you aren't experiencing any of the typical issues with these cars.

I drive a 2018 ctsv. I'm not a huge fan of Ford mustangs but I got beat by a 2023 gt500 a few weeks ago. Was very impressed. Today while working (local truck driver) I saw one of these gt350's near me in traffic. And this is why I'm watching this video
Fun fact about the steering: Ford specifically uses a smaller EPS motor to improve road feel and initial steering quickness. It's great for turn-in and of course steering feel. The problem is the motor isn't strong enough to perform quick counter-steer like in the example of Thomas trying to drift. This is why you see so many modern Mustangs running over crowds- small EPS motor, so even if you try to correct the steering can't cope. In fact, this is why modern BMWs lack steering feel. A BMW engineer said the EPS motors in their cars have to meet certain criteria, and one of them is applying opposite-lock in a certain amount of time and enough torque. A larger motor is needed to do this, hence one reason why you don't see BMWs running over crowds, but also why so many piss and moan over the lack of feel in modern BMW steering.

That's not at all why mustangs crash. They crash because they're attainable and powerful, so a lot of young, dumb people get their hands on more car than they can handle. It has nothing to do with how the steering is.
Considering how much I love my 17 GT, I can only imagine how epic this car is..

Possibly the best all around car for the money that will ever be built. I'm fortunate to have one and I'm glad Ford finally stopped selling them. These cars will hold their value for years to come.
As much as I like electric cars this is the thing I just don't know how we're going to live without. Engine noise matters.
Such an iconic car. I truly believe it's going to increase its beauty within over the years for its production ended and there’s probably not going to be any other car following in its footsteps concerning a combustion engine with V8 and flat plane crank. Ford did build a serious competitor for all European “premium” sports cars of its segment - and maybe even beyond that. I bought mine almost 2yrs ago and I remember it getting pulled out of the showroom like it was yesterday. Happy times. One thing I will say. This car drinks fuel like it’s happy hour all day everyday.

The GT350R is glorious.
The not being able to side it around is an S197 chassis thing, not just a GT350 thing. Even my '08 GT was like that. When you start tho get sideways, it either grips and snaps back straight or goes all the way around. I could never steer mine with the throttle, unlike my SN95 ( '03 Mach 1).
So, its not even a steering-based problem? If not that, what it is, then? He mentioned that the steering felt like it locked, what could have that been.
Great review gents, Genuine Sports Car(when have you able to say that about a Mustang) . I've loved the GT-350/GT-350R since their launch back in 2016...sad that they have ended production. That Voodoo V8 it puts a spell on you😆
That's exactly the phrase to describe the sound it makes, it puts a spell on anyone who's heard it. Damn, it sounds good! Just like Thomas said about the old RS5, "Nothing else matters in this car.", its the same about this one, except, there's no downsides at all, except for, maybe the old engines not being that reliable, or the steering locking problem, and the gears being too tall. Its too good. Sad that's its been stopped.

GT350R owner here, can't believe I haven't watched this in depth till now. I previously had a 2015 GT that I added the stage 2 Ford track kit & very staggered Sport Cups to, and found that I couldn't slide that car either. I thought it was all in my head but I guess not!
My dad has a gt350 ( regular ) and we’re doing work to it we have a full headers and cat back system on it right now and that’s about it right now and an e85 tune, but he drives it as much as he possibly can and h absolutely loves it and so do I, truly a special and unique car
I have mixed feelings about loud cars, and I hate the pop-and-gurgle thing that a lot of people like, but that engine sounds absolutely fantastic.
It has quiet mode and makes it very quiet
I don't know what I enjoyed more: the expected sounds from the Voodoo 5.2 or the expressions of absolutely blissful driving Nirvana coming from the both of you.
James's face when the opened it up first was funny as hell, very similar to my expression every single time I hear that engine. Seriously, though, what a noise!! 🤤
