I believe these cars are going to be very valuable someday since they are the last manual transmission road course Shelby! This is a very faithful build of what Carol Shelby had in mind! Here I am over four years into the ownership of my GT 350. Every time I get in it it’s like the first time! It’s that good!
I gotta say I love seeing this side of Jay. Even if you hadn't seen his massive car collection, you could tell he's a car man to his core. Great channel. And this car is a monster. I just bought my first new car and it is a little 2016 V6 Mustang. I'd love to own something like this one day.
Abbuud Jb Well, the term Pony Car was coined by the Mustang. You know why? Because it was originally not considered a muscle car as they were too slow and anemic. It is and always will be a pony car. Want a real muscle car? Go Mopar or Pontiac.
frenchie5k As a '73 Trans Am owner, I can tell you it's NOT a pony car. The only pony car is the Rustang. The early gen2 screaming chickens are true muscle cars. The term pony car was never meant as a positive thing. It was a put-down because the classic Mustangs were all show and no go. Part from the 390 and Shelbys, they were pretty awful and slow. Even the 4 barrel Boss 351 struggled to deliver its claimed 285 hp. All the other brands seriously underrated their cars and still made more power in their official claims.
ABOlsen69X Muscle Cars are for people who are not as concerned about the overall performance of the car- they live in the flyover states with few twisty roads and so it's all about top speed and quarter mile times. They are just fine with cheap, clumsy, light weight boxes as long as they get a massive V8
Really? Does it get more old school than Chevy vs Ford? Dislikes are fringe, that believe that its Fix Or Repair Daily for life. Regardless of how good this car is! BTW I'm Chevy fan. Didn't click dislikes. : )
+kirbyswarp As much as I hate to agree, you're right. I'm 1,000%, all the way a Mercedes fanboy, but the S class shouldn't EVER come in a 2 door, let alone a convertible. BMW as well, they've gone "Hollywood". Porsche and Audi are climbing to the top fast, especially with still having a manual option for a majority of their vehicles, but still losing their touch.
+kirbyswarp I choose Mercedes over everything, second runner up is the Lincoln Town Car, but that may be just because I've had one for a while now. 2008, and everything works, no problems, smooth ride, and I get the same respect as the BMW, Audi and Mercedes that pull up next to me. Have a lot of plans for her this year and plan on making a few videos soon . And Volvo is a great car, no arguments there.
I Know this comment is old but the z06 is absolutely insane.. The new zl1 1le Camaro is technically faster then this Mustang in every way I'm pretty sure (don't quote me), and then there's the Chevy ss.. They got Ford beat they're just missing a hot hatch.. And on top of it all.. The new zr1 and soon to be mid engine corvette might have the gear to take on the Ford gt for way way cheaper
Jason Voorhees oh for sure I know but the z07 isn't that far off from it, so imagine the new zr1 and I just don't really like dodge other than the viper so I didn't mention it.. And sadly ... It's going to be discontinued now anyway 😕
This video and the behind the scenes piece on the 2005 Ford GT are two of the best productions from this channel. Two designers walking viewers and Jay through the behind the scenes of incredible product development. Ford is winning and so are viewers.
+thisguywhocamps1 dude I just laughed so hard. That was a good one! Never heard that before! About time someone says something new about ford. found on road dead hahahaha I'm going to start using that one.
I’ve never seen so many good reviews about a performance vehicle like the Mustang GT350R. Everyone that drives one in a review all say I want one and gotta have it
"This engine will not be shared with any other Ford platform" is the biggest crime in history. This engine would have been PERFECT for a new more muscular Taurus, (Charger rival). And a LIGHTNING F150
+Herickson SS You are wrong dude. Amanoncrack is right. They did it for a reason and they talk all about it in dozens of videos. It's a 650 HP+ high revving V6 with almost no lag and instant response. It cuts weight but more importantly it allowed Ford to shape the body the way they did because it's a smaller engine profile. Read about it. The car weighs nothing. It's going to be awesome. When the supercharger was put on the second gen GT everyone lost their minds saying it should be naturally aspirated, but the car was great and has grown on everyone. Now the same people are whining about it being a V6 but they will eventually see the light as well.
+Adam Reichl I respect their decision to race it with the ecoboost, but for the customer I think it should be an option. Its not like a regular customer is going to take it to the limit like a professional driver anyway.
And no, Ecoboost V6 is not better than this engine would've been with a couple turbos... Look at the pitiful Ford GT performance at Daytona. Look at the LS/LT engines - massive displacement, torque that matches or exceeds the power, and they're getting 30+ mpg cruising.. Ford needs to stop trying to be European and respect some American ingenuity.
+Adeum Deus Their performance issues were due to teething problems with the electrics, not the pace. Problems like thes are not uncommon for new cars. I believe the GT had the fastest lap of the race as well if I remember correctly. In its first race. The Ecoboost V6 is an excellent engine. The corvettes have had years of development whereas this GT is a totally new car from the ground up. Oh and by the way, Ford has achieved Ferrari-approaching engine stats by "being European."
so you dont care about the output, reliability, balance, sound, efficiency of the engine but the weight? and also its 2009 model engine that you are comparing to 2015 model, which is still miles better. just check ferrari's latest engines and tecs and you can see the difference between 2 brands. ford is definetely closing in but ferrari is probably 6-7 years ahead of them
Jay, either you are like me or I am like you bro... I'm a manual shift man, I love gauges I like seeing what's going on, I love Brembo brakes and I'm a sho nuff car enthusiast. I told you earlier I have a 1998 Ford GT 4.6L 281/225-hp, slight modifications with 128,875 mi and no worries. Love your show brother and love your guests! Us old guys gotta' stay in the game. Me, 1952! Peace!
I mean, yes it sounds terrific, but an old school V12 Ferrari is like heaven. Personally I am a 250 GTO guy all day. Corvettes sound like every other Chevy though. Sorry. Mustangs have a unique sound and this Mustang is the best sounding of all time.
Adam Reichl Different strokes for different folks. I was watching 24 hours of daytona the other day and the C7Rs sound completely stole the show from the Ferrari 488.
People complaining about there being no burnout , you're not supposed to do something like that until the engine is fully bedded in unless you want to ruin your engine
+MeatyPotato Cactus I wonder why they're not just run them in at the factory. If I got that Mustang my mind would instantly turn into a kid and do burnouts!
+Rottensteam they run the engines but it takes around 1000 miles to fully break in. thats why when i got my c63amg 507 it couldnt rev over 4500 for the first 1000 miles
+FordCapri Driver you dont have to do that anymore. thats old school thinking. now the engines making the most power are the ones that have been driven hard since the beginning.
Jay, you review cars like no one does - what a public service! Serious - THANK YOU for sharing your cars (garage, knowledge and pull with manufactures) with us "normal folk!" You're a blessing to car freaks everywhere!!!
Back in the '50s and early '60s my father built and used the old flathead Ford V8 in cars, pickups and boats as well. They were cheap and speed parts quite available.Long story short he built a couple with flat plane crankshafts. The biggest thing I remember is how those engines sounded nothing like the normal V8,almost like a giant four cylinder with a strange cadence...it's hard to describe. The point I wanted to make is flat plane crankshafts are in no way a new or modern idea but seeing one in use, especially from a factory machine,is uncommon indeed!
Hold on I am watching this video and Jamal said that they went with the 3.5L eco boost V6 in the GT because if fuel economy and efficiency. The EPA rates the Ford GT at 19 mpg highway that's pretty piss poor considering the Viper with it's 8.4L V10 is rated at 21 by the EPA.
For all those people wondering why this didn't go into the new GT, well they plan to race the car at Le Mans. For those who don't know, its 24 hour continuous race. Every drop of fuel is monitored. Every single lap, every single second counts. You can watch Truth in 24 II and get a idea of the immense engineering involved. Everything that happens there, often filters down into consumer technology. As much as I love a good ole' v12, everybody is downsizing and using hybrid power trains because efficiency is the battle. So the v6 is a good choice for the new GT.
All true, but, those purists addicted to hearin' a V-8 thunder to life in the morning were given reason to be thankful they couldn't afford the GT... Ah yes, Shelby Mustang GT350, the poor man's GT... Le Mans can have the GT!
Great video. I had a '66 Mustang with a 289 when I was 18. It was a great car and I had a lot of fun with it, but the car in this video is light years ahead of it. Jay, your knowledge of a wide range of cars and motorcycles is amazing. Thank you for sharing that knowledge an entusiasm with us on your website. Keep on driving an d riding these classics. I believe these cars are going to be very valuable someday since they are the last manual transmission road course Shelby!
This is a very faithful build of what Carol Shelby had in mind!
Here I am over four years into the ownership of my GT 350. Every time I get in it it’s like the first time! It’s that good!
Thank You Jamal! Love my 2018 GT350. Thanks Jay for the top notch videos
One of the best sounding cars EVAR
Thank you Jamal and Ford!
We need Saabkyle04 to spend a couple weeks at Jay's garage to review some cars!
+anewacc well his performance cars at least, cause not all his cars are meant to be driven hard
+Kenny Lopez just discovered that kid, love his videos!
We need Saabkyle to do a review of it, Chris Harris to thrash it around sideways on a track and lastly we need Shmee150 to take it on a roadtrid xD
30+min. of someone reading a brochure? No thanks, I'll stick to Jay's videos or even Jason from Engineering Explained, or really anyone but Saabkyle.
+OzcarMtl Ok why say your opinion?
Just bought my 2016 GT350 Tech Package last weekend. I cannot get over how amazing this car is. Love. Love. Love
I gotta say I love seeing this side of Jay. Even if you hadn't seen his massive car collection, you could tell he's a car man to his core. Great channel. And this car is a monster. I just bought my first new car and it is a little 2016 V6 Mustang. I'd love to own something like this one day.
This car is the greatest pony car ever right now
frenchie2017 MUSCLE CAR !!! UR CAMARO IS THE PONY !lol jkjk !!
Yeah no, in the sixties muscle cars where family cars with big blocks stuffed in them and pony cars were the trans am sports car alternative.
Abbuud Jb
Well, the term Pony Car was coined by the Mustang. You know why? Because it was originally not considered a muscle car as they were too slow and anemic. It is and always will be a pony car. Want a real muscle car? Go Mopar or Pontiac.
frenchie5k
As a '73 Trans Am owner, I can tell you it's NOT a pony car.
It's the best car I've ever bought. I love the sound of the engine. I made my friends jealous...
The driving experience is truly unbelievable. I love my gt350.
How can anyone dislike this video ?? 24:05
Omg auto vlog!
How life changes man!
Really?
Does it get more old school than Chevy vs Ford?
Dislikes are fringe, that believe that its Fix Or Repair Daily for life. Regardless of how good this car is!
BTW I'm Chevy fan. Didn't click dislikes. : )
Hameedi is a moron.
Chevy nut riders
What an unbelievable noise coming from the exhaust and engine. One of the greatest engines to have ever been created.
Bravo Ford!
Even GT350 has Magnetic suspension. BMW. ARE YOU LISTENING???
+Ruohong Zhao BMW doesn't care about making drivers' cars anymore...
Faris Turkistani I prefer Audi out of the three germans. Actually, I now prefer Cadillac surprisingly. Volvo is still Volvo and I like them a lot.
+kirbyswarp Yup. When I speed up my M4 to 160mph, all I hear is noise of wind. But not the engine. And Air drug of this car is even bigger than E92.
Its rough being a Chevy guy lately
Swagg Nugget In what world
I Know this comment is old but the z06 is absolutely insane..
Austin Jones three words: Dodge Viper acr
Jason Voorhees oh for sure I know but the z07 isn't that far off from it, so imagine the new zr1 and I just don't really like dodge other than the viper so I didn't mention it.. And sadly ... It's going to be discontinued now anyway 😕
Lately? It has always been tough for those guys. Lol
This video and the behind the scenes piece on the 2005 Ford GT are two of the best productions from this channel. Two designers walking viewers and Jay through the behind the scenes of incredible product development. Ford is winning and so are viewers.
what a great guest. good job Jamal!
Ford has such consistent quality, consistently uneven panel gaps and all.
Lol never buying a garbage unreliable ford again
FordCapri Driver Hahahaha are the ford fanboys triggered easily or what
+beholderlt Explain. It's easy to say random bullshit but, where in the video do you see this?
+thisguywhocamps1 dude I just laughed so hard. That was a good one! Never heard that before! About time someone says something new about ford. found on road dead hahahaha I'm going to start using that one.
+beholderlt FORD= Fix Or Repair Daily.
I’ve never seen so many good reviews about a performance vehicle like the Mustang GT350R. Everyone that drives one in a review all say I want one and gotta have it
Seeing the 350 r as it is now, what kind of monster is the gt500 going to be!
Thats going to be competing against the Challenger Demon.
@@patrickkelly8095 It still can't hold a candle to the Demon in a drag, but Cobrajet with the aluminator motor will beat the Demon
@@saby8765 we'll have to see about that, I have no clue what it'll do tbh
Yggdrasill4 well now you know
@@saby8765 just wait for the gt500 supersnake
I've read several articles about these, and am so glad you gave us an Actual full tour, and ride.Thank you.Miles of smiles.
"This engine will not be shared with any other Ford platform" is the biggest crime in history. This engine would have been PERFECT for a new more muscular Taurus, (Charger rival). And a LIGHTNING F150
well I guess imma be sleepy at school tomarow ...
so true
me too
+iliovecaRS Saaaaame
+iliovecaRS same for me at work, but it's worth it lol!
+iliovecaRS This is literally me right now... 2am thinking this, scroll to the comments, oh hey hahaha
i love how j leno keeps pointing out his fav things he wants to discuss, but also a reminder to the engineer
This engine would be great in the new Ford GT. Do it.
+Bruningable You're right. I was quite shocked actually to find out the GT will use a V6.
+cominacatcha v6 tt
+Adam Reichl man, come on, I understand. but needs a v8.
+Adam Reichl I respect their decision to race it with the ecoboost, but for the customer I think it should be an option. Its not like a regular customer is going to take it to the limit like a professional driver anyway.
Lol there you go, American car haters. Ford's larger displacement flat plane engine is lighter than a $300,000 Ferrari's engine.
Yea and the 458 Italian makes 50 more Hp.
+Adeum Deus And here we are a few months later with Ford winning at Le Mans...
so you dont care about the output, reliability, balance, sound, efficiency of the engine but the weight? and also its 2009 model engine that you are comparing to 2015 model, which is still miles better. just check ferrari's latest engines and tecs and you can see the difference between 2 brands. ford is definetely closing in but ferrari is probably 6-7 years ahead of them
Jay, either you are like me or I am like you bro... Me, 1952! Peace!
I really enjoyed this review. Professional, friendly and very, very pleasant to watch.
Thank you 👍🏻
If a 458 and a hellcat had a baby this is how it would sound
Of an f 812 and a hellcat durango had a baby
Jay, because of you, I just bought a 2019 Shelby GT350R with 2000 miles on it.
If you were on American Top Gear, I would actually turn it on! So fun to watch your videos:)
This and the C63, in my opinion best sounding stock exhausts
That black series 💪🏼💪🏼💪🏼
Jay Lenos car collection is mind blowing!!!
I have a 2019 standard model GT350 with every option. It is an AMAZING car. Wouldn't trade her for anything!
Me, too. I’ve had mine for 3 1/2 years now. Not selling it! Cheers from K0306
@@potranco999nice! February 8 this year was 4 years to the day of owning mine. Was lucky enough to be her first and only owner. Truly doesn't get old.
Jay Leno is so awesome I love you Jay!!!! You need to buy an Ecoboost Mustang though! They are amazing cars!!
Thank you Jamal for making this beast. Pure joy.
Close your eyes and picture Jay is talking to a grown up Napoleon Dynamite who got his life together and is the top engineer of Ford.
My favorite Mustang is a Liger. Its a cross between a lion and a tiger. (You have to know Napoleon Dynamite).
This and Corvettes sound far better to me than any Ferrari ever has.
Exactly.
What's awesome is that since it doesn't rev as high it doesn't have that high pitch scream. But a buff scruff rumble
+Justa318i At a price tag of $65K too!
This is one of my favorite videos they have made so far. I ended up buying one. Love that car
People complaining about there being no burnout , you're not supposed to do something like that until the engine is fully bedded in unless you want to ruin your engine
What does that mean ?
+MeatyPotato Cactus I wonder why they're not just run them in at the factory. If I got that Mustang my mind would instantly turn into a kid and do burnouts!
Mercedes run some engines in, its a good service. As for the rest of your comment, please reply in English next time.
Someone's finger in the top left corner at 11:10
Jared Blumenthal lmao good find
Jay, you review cars like no one does - what a public service! Serious - THANK YOU for sharing your cars (garage, knowledge and pull with manufactures) with us "normal folk!" You're a blessing to car freaks everywhere!!!
I gotta say. I think Ford straight admitting they actually bought a 458 engine to model after, is honorable.
Love the GT350 and 350R, someday! Took me 39 years for my first Carrera, so hope I live long enough LOL!!
I am going to put this on my Wish List!...FORD...First On Race Day!...God Bless America!
That guy looks like the guy from Everyone Loves Raymond
+Stickyjalapeno ......Ray?
yeah
In one shot he looks more like Jerry Seinfeld.
+Stickyjalapeno Lmao thats what I was thinking the whole time. My mom loves that show....
+thisguywhocamps1 Yes he does, STFU.
Even 8 years on, I still enjoy reviewing this video. This GT 350R is a great mix of power and handling, AND the SOUND is like a SYMPHONY!
Look for the finger at around 11:00 haha
Shut up before I get fired
Found it what I win?
11:10
+hflxcski1 What, where?!
+sam farley top left.
They wanted to stick with the tradition of using a truck engine in it.
Best line ever. "I love this engine so much, i bought one." All hail Jay!
Jay: is this carbon fiber?
Jamal: nah, plastic
Jay: is this Inconel?
Jamal: nah, stainless steel
Which he likes
+Jonathan Erickson HAHAHHA this reply has me rolling dude 😂😂
+Da Brosiffs what lol
Jonathan Erickson i was reallly high when I read your reply so that probably has something to do with it
+Da Brosiffs do you think Jay gets high?
JAMAAL MAN THANK YOU FOR DESIGNING THIS BABY!!!!!!!!! CUBIC INCH IS 317 C.I.!!!!!!!! 8,250 REDLINE, WOW!!!!!!!
"I rarely play the radio." hilarious
I love the fact that you keep them running and share the history of all these classics with us. They don't just sit in a museum.

Best sounding V8 ever made. The voodoo is awesome.
The Ford performance guy sounds like Napoleon Dynamite.
The carbon fibre wheels are made in australia.
Jason Moyle it just wanna BIGGER wheels ,and tires as well !!! i think 21" is PERFECT !!!
When you drive a Ford like this one , you become part of the machine ! And that growl is second to none.
16:16, gotta love Jay he's an engineer's dream. only HE goes and buys a 2nd Voodoo to place on a stand to admire OUTSIDE of the car. LOL
I'm a Mopar guy through & through but the GT350 is one heck of a car. Sleek lines, state of the art engine & exhaust note is nothing short of badass
