@@technom3598 Yeah I'm always shocked by seeing any exoticnup close. My favorite car is the Lamborghini Aventador (what a phenomenal design even 8 years later) and when I saw it up close, it was definitely big but it has such a "shrinkwrapped" design about it that most of these cars have to save weight or as least, as Lamborghini admits, "looks like" it is lightweight. All of the buttons on the interior are all tiny and that car in particular is less than four feet tall. There was one car video I saw, I can't remember if it was from Gumbal, NM2255 or Bozzy but it showed the F1 next to other modern supercars and it almost looked like a toy car
Dave Pericak, as the chief engineer for this car, is on a completely different (higher) level than Mr. Leno. That he restrained himself from smiling at some of the inane questions/observations is admirable.
@@kenhoward3512 I would hope, as Chief Engineer, Mr. Pericak is in fact much more knowledgeable than Jay regarding the car. I just appreciate Jay's passion.
To be fair, Dave Pericak is the guy who who lead the development of this generation of Mustang and I believe he's the head of the Ford Performance division, so it only makes sense.
Jay Leno is a little clueless. Asking if the car is a DOHC? Was is this? 1990? Or claiming Europeans mostly do torque converters? Every car enthusiast know what PDK the fact that it's a benchmark.
I'm absolutely no doubt about it a stripe guy, and, if I was about to drop some cold hard cash on one of these(...may be just a weeee bit outta my price range at the moment...) and had to go through and check the boxes, I would probably end up going matte black stripes on black base - but, if two black ones were sitting side by side, one with stripes and one without... ...oh man, I just don't know... They just KILLED IT with the design and styling! It seems like when anyone does a 'wide body' for a high performance varient, they tend to exaggerate it or over emphasize it; but, this is just a very focused, cohesive design all the way around. Even the carbon fiber usage; carbon fiber can look as gawdy as swaths of chrome can, but, even with all exposed(clear coated) carbon wheels, it's just in all the 'right places' without just being scattered everywhere "...cuz high performance car and carbon fiber is high performance, so the door panels have to be all carbon fiber[even though we just put the carbon on top of a standard door panel so it doesn't actually save any weight...]"
Well I've seen black 350s even in person. And it does look great but its still not too different to having it in another color. For this though it turns into a different car in Black. Well it is true that any car looks good in black, the only problem is that it's hard to keep it clean. Well the stripes are quite an essential part of a Shelby but in this case I don't mind at all.
When this generation of Mustang first came out, Dave (same dude as this video) bought over a prototype, and they would not Jay take it out due to it being non road legal.
There is an episode with an old Porsche and the dude did not let Jay drive it, Jay sat in the passenger seat and looked upset. And the Pagani but that one Jay was OK with because Jay really respects Mr Pagani.
Dave Pericak is one of my favorite factory guys that Jay has had on. He seems like such a cool guy, and so smart. It's making me consider getting a Ford.

It is interesting while Ford is doing a big press intro in Vegas, they actually bring a GT500 and the director of icons to his garage for him to drive. That says a lot of where Jay Leno ranks in the eyes of the automotive enthusiast world.
When I see a video that's 36 minutes long I think "I'll watch for a few minutes". That never happens here. I end up staying for the entire video. Jay is such a comfortable guy to watch and gets the best cars and people on his channel.

I recently just started liking the new mustangs, I always thought they were trash because of what I see online but now realized they may be wrong, this is a beautiful car inside and out
The first time I saw this car I was pretty pumped on its existence. To me this is probably the best looking/sounding car out right now. Want one of these so bad.
Get the GT/CS and a bag of chips. At half the price its twice as fun! The 500 is just the GT on steroids. Don't get me wrong, 760HP is mind-twisting, but honestly, how often can you really enjoy it! 460 horses everyday will keep you young and in the cooler less often. :)
Mmm idk I’m sure some people will use the car on tracks and stuff but I get what you mean but some people want stuff like that just to brag about it lol. Like I have a car that makes just under 400 from my but dyno and to me I couldn’t imagine having any more then that lol
@@Volcomej1 No doubt some are track fans, but as you noted, for the rest of us in the real world, 400-500 HP is a real thrill and it's there everyday, not just on track day. :) I have the MB CLK55 AMG, 100% stock, 364 HP, 375 Lbs/Torque and it is an absolute riot to drive. @@Volcomej1 That's great Shawn, I'm certain that 400 or so HP in a Neon is a heck of a thrill! You must be kidding me ! That is one crappy sounding motor ! Ford must go to one helluva lot of effort to get this to sound so totally rotten. Worst sounding crossplane V8 I have ever heard. You'll get there one day, man. Just work hard, work on improving your credit score, and you'll be in a Mustang with an everlasting smile every time you punch the throttle in no time. I just bought my first Mustang a few months ago. I love every second of it.
I'm proud about the sixties Gt40. Now Ford has no answer for an overall win. Ford is twenty years behind Porsche, Audi, and Toyota. Class win is okay. But the overall victory is way out of grasp.
@@mgabrysSF Hell, I don't even think that it's Jay bringing them in at this point - rather I think some of these automakers got burned a couple times by sending PR guys to show off their new car; and Jay just ends up kinda embarrassing them with questions that 'your dad' would ask. Want to actually get a beneficial result out of putting your new car on Jay's show? Then you better bring someone that knows what the hell they're talking about! Now, with that said, Ford has always been good about sending the 'right' people - but that's easy enough to do when you have a high performance division called the "Special Vehicle Team", now 'Ford Performance' of course. I'm not always happy with some of Ford's decision making(...I mean, literally NO CARS for north America that aren't a Mustang or GT? Not even the Focus???), but they have ALWAYS done high performance vehicles right - and, unlike basically the rest of the industry, they're the only ones that see lap times as being secondary to the driving experience.
This is my favorite car presentation show , unlike other reviewers out there , Jay Leno knows what a car is super or daily driven to the heart , This guy knows Car to the heart and soul of it. He is really what you call a Legit Car guy..more power Sir:)
Jay always has the best reviews of new cars, especially fast cars. I have a lot more respect for this model after watching Jay and his guest, especially compared to the lightweight Demuro review I happened to watch first. In deep black, no stripes, with or without a carbon bling package, this Mustang fulfills the promise that the original muscle car era could only hint at.
I love the trend of carbon fiber wheels. I remember putting 18" chrome wheels on my last Mustang, and they weighed a ton, even compared to the stock wheels. You're probably talking about a 100+ lb difference between that and carbon fiber. That's a game-changer.
Honestly... I'm with ya...the GT350 is gonna be far more desired in the future...its just a pleasure to drive and perfectly balanced. The Manual trans with the flat plane crank just makes it a pure driver's car. At the end of the day...why do you buy these cars? Is it just to drop the horsepower numbers in conversation? In this day in age...having over 500 HP on the streets is crazy...and yes, even on the track. That said...I also dont like the digital instrument cluster.. another reason I luv the GT350

@@SangheiliSpecOp you will be shocked at how small it is. The car is very very small.
Finally a guy who speaks Jay. Instant best friends. What a BEAST! Awesome car.
In 15 years, Jay is going to be going 30 mph no matter what car he's driving, and swerving all over the place. And I'll still watch every episode.
And he'll still be continually referring to "back in the sixties..."
Hopefully
I think: in another 15 years, Jay will still be able to smash the throttle & drive hard...
Ford had to send a guy who knows everything he is talking about, because he was going to JAY LENO
To be fair, Dave Pericak is the guy who who lead the development of this generation of Mustang and I believe he's the head of the Ford Performance division, so it only makes sense.
@@Omen_Seven too bad this generation of Mustang is so damn frickin ugly. The last gen were where it's at for a modern Mustang.
I disagree I think it's the best looking generation
BA people can argue about the front end, but the rear end on this gen is the nicest rear end since ‘68
Jay Leno is a little clueless. Asking if the car is a DOHC? Was is this? 1990? Or claiming Europeans mostly do torque converters? Every car enthusiast know what PDK the fact that it's a benchmark.
it's funny how jay always looks like he's sleeping and then he just floors it
HardNougat he probably does it to keep himself awake.
That's hella funny
I literally laughed out loud I was thinking the same thing

Still one of my favorite videos on the internet…Just in my opinion, there’s nothing like the mustang GT500.😌 “this generation”
Damn. The first time seeing one in Black and it looks soo damn aggressive.
Once you go black, you never go back...
Looks great in all black
It seems that the super snake (2013-) is been up in value lately....

When Jay says "Can we take it out?" I'm waiting for someone to say No!
This happened recently, an older lady would not let him drive her car, I believe it was on his TV show.
Love that front end. When it comes around the corner it has such a menacing look and presence.
It doesn't come around the corner, It GOES around the corner.

Yup - I'm addicted to this channel because - most of the time Mr. Leno doesn't bring in PR folks but the designers and lead-techs from the carmakers.
