    Notice how Christian never says "I". He always says "We". The man is the personification of humility and extremely honorable in how he conducts himself. For a man who has accomplished so much in such a short amount of time, he never hogs the credit. Top guy, definitely someone all of us should aspire to be.

      The 1/2 mile cars that are 3K HP are far faster, of course. There are steerable versions of the 1/2 mile cars that are faster. I think Koenigsegg is simply trying to make a homologated car from a manufacturer that is very fast and he should be commended for that, but keep in mind that for far less money one can build a Lambo or Porsche with 1700 -2500 HP and be far faster.

    • @IanSmithKSP
      @IanSmithKSP 5 лет назад +38

      I imagine that the tooling required to make a tire of this caliber is well into a million dollars. For a big company to dedicate their equipment and talent into it, it’s well worth that price. When they expect to only produce a couple hundred sets, then it gets very very expensive. Koenigsegg can afford it. However when you’re only selling 80 two million dollar cars, 1 million dollars for tires is far too much to justify. Their approach as a partnership rather than an exclusive product makes a lot more sense.
      Whether I have my numbers right or not is up to us to guess, but I think my hunch is in the right proportions. Tires making up 1% or more of the production cost wouldn’t work for a small company.

      The 4v 4.6 was a great engine. I have one in my 97 Cobra. He used it for a reason, they are lightweight for a DOHC, they are designed well, they handle a lot of HP, they rev smoothly, the bore and stroke are square, just overall a terrific engine. John Malkovich trapped over 250mph in the 1/4 mile with a factory Ford block, crankshaft, and heads out of a 96-98 Cobra, just ported and whatnot. That says a lot, we're talking 2500ish HP out of a 281c.i. engine!

      3. If Koenigsegg really wanted to smoke a Corvette around a track, it would use an Agera or Jesko.
      4. Koenigsegg only produce supercars, the reason they're so expensive is because they need to be to keep the company afloat. Unlike General Motors.
