    Ford will never make a retro designed mustang that carries the true mustang shape like this example... carroll shelby signed off on this example... and its a big supercharged v8 with a manual trans.... so much going for this future classic it's not even funny. I disagree with the guy stating the 350 is where he would park his money. I almost bought a GT350 but then I drove my Dad's 14 GT500. The GT350 sounds great, it handles really well but the speed is just so uneventful. Wringing it out with everything it has and it takes a lot to hit 100mph. Hopped in the 14 GT500 and got the exact opposite response, totally different animal. Thing broke em loose at 90 with T/C off and stacked speed so effortlessly fast it blew my mind. It felt as fast as my R1 sport bike does. You want track times, get a GT350, you want fun and endless torque, get the slightly older GT500.

    • @3644Darrell
      @3644Darrell 12 дней назад

      I don't want a car that can break the tires loose at 90 or a car that I could never drive flat out and have to hold back constantly

    • @alexlindberg88
      @alexlindberg88 12 дней назад +1

      @3644Darrell I hear ya and like I said, nothing wrong with either car. If you haven't, id highly suggest driving both and getting some initial impressions. For me the GT500 is just a matter of keeping nannies engaged, it just limits the power some through the first couple of gears as I didn't realize how much power was limited until I took it off. It is surprisingly docile and drivable when cruising but I can see how people end up a youtube sensation with these cars. With the nannies off and throttle pinned, that snap oversteer is a beast so once you're in it, gotta stay in it to avoid crashing which is difficult of course, especially if you arent ready for it.
      Another little tidbit that surprised me was that I got 23mpg when driving on the highway which is crazy for such a monstrous supercharged V8, not that I really care about fuel economy but its pretty nice to have it. The GT350 I drove was a 17 with Track and electronics package. The 350 has a nasty cold start which I loved but compared to the 500, it followed every road imperfection and required constant correction when driving it which I was not particularly fond of, the 500 had a more relaxed driving experience to me likely because it was a live axle setup vs the IRS in the 350 and track focused.
      If you are dead set on a 350, I was reading that the 19-20s got some revisions to the brakes and suspension setup which improved upon the 16-18 variants so it may have helped with that complaint that I had with it. For me though, power was pretty underwhelming otherwise, it looks great, sounds amazing and the interior is definitely a step above its older brother. However, I found the 500 recaros more comfortable than the 350. Again, just my opinion, good luck on finding the right car assuming you are in the market! 😎

    40-50k for a car that I believe was 60-80k new is a steal considering what you're getting. This is the S197 people cared about because it's the last one Carroll cared about. The new GT500 is just a name with big horsepower tacked into a Mustang.

Got to 194 but backed off because the road was about to turn and change conditions. Motor still had more In it. 1st gear was pointless but overall it's was a great easy to drive car under normal driving and amazingly stable above 160 to 194. Plus the rarity of it especially when you consider the production line, even though i haven't driven a 13-14 gt500 from the reviews as well as blogs about this car some say with this car it keeps you on your toes especially how powerful it is, you got to respect it plus it's very playful as well as joyful that last live rear axle helps add to the personality, from the exterior of the car it looks angry, but once you get to know what it's all about it let it's guard down revealing there's more than meets the eyes.

But the biggest reason these cars are harder to drive than the newer autos, imho is the suspension. A solid rear axle takes skill to take on a road course like VIR or Willow or Mosport! But like your face and laughter can attest to, these cars are fun!! And that's what we love about them and why we respect them them too.

The GT500 is a bit quicker in straight line and has a huge Topspeed (German Autobahn 😎👍🏻) but you can't compare a real Sportscar to a Power GT. I went from a Z06 to a GT500, and yes, I miss the handling and lightness, but I dont have to sell my left nut for a clutch swap, I can carry 4, and the ceiling is much MUCH higher for power upgrades. I'll get back into a C5z for a dedicated track car or something, but for reliable car to beat on daily, the GT500 is by far the better choice.

    Great car. I still think the body looks great on 2010 - 2014 shelbys. They don't make them like this anymore. Get a manual transmission and be prepared for a unique experience. It's a lot of fun and not that dangerous as long as you take time to get used to the power. Suspension work and better tires will help with traction issues. Modern cars will feel boring to drive after you experience the last true Ford muscle car.

    They have "sneaky speed" because of how tall the rear gear is, you really are shifting as much as you might think.

      I rode passenger on track in an older 09 gt500 with lowering springs and PS4S. And buddy was definitely wrestling the thing hard to get it around corners. I was honestly scared and impressed at the same time. The speeds that the car entered the corner with, I thought for sure we were going to understeer wide into the grass. But the car still went around it despite the body motions giving an impression of instability. Definitely didn't feel confident doing it but the edginess adds to the drama and fun.

    You were looking at some convertibles on those comparisons. They are worth more. I have a '14 Ruby Red white striped convertible (only 31 made that year) with 7k miles that I wouldn't sell for less than $80k if I were to, which I won't sell it anyways lol. The 13-14 convertibles went up way more in price since the new ones only come in hardtops.

    This car is the closest you will ever get to owning your own personal rollercoaster. I love my 2013. These cars unmodded and under 10,000 miles bring close to their original sticker price every time. Grabber Blue and Glass Roof cars seem to bring more money because of the limited productions of these options. As more people mod the shit out of them and crash them the prices on the clean unmodded low mileage ones will only go up. I really like these cars.

  • @VermillionRacing

    A lot of reviewers really compare this way too much to new mustangs like the s550 gt350 and gt500. These cars are built for entirely different reasons. This car is a pure, through and through, MUSCLE car. It is meant for cruising, striaght line speed, and burnouts. That is it. It is not a track focused car like the new 350, 500, mach 1, dark horse, etc. as we saw recently, the mustang is now far from its cruiser drag strip roots with its top trim, absolutely obliterating competition at the Nürburgring. Its like comparing a 2004 Cadillac Escalade to a miata on track, or trying to get a hot dog eating world champ to run track at the olympics. Its just not comparable. These cars are only comparable in name, and spirit of goint fast. That's all.

    I remember watching this model car on I believe it was motor trend or car drivers world's greatest drag race I don't remember the exact number however what was incredible about this car in that race of course was towards the very end before the finish line it was running the other cars down that beat it I'm assuming that's a long legs of course maybe the gear ratio I'm not sure it is an incredible car for the money I've seen some go it's a strange market it's like less and more but still on this day I remember that race again train drivers professional course etcetera etcetera but even then to see it run the other cars down it takes a lot of car to get passed by a car and then turn around run that said car back down that's pretty incredible

    The thing about this car is it's absolutely not set up ideally for the quarter. The rear gears, transmission gearing, and suspension were all set up for the 200mph top speed. I knew a gentleman who owned one & was a hell of a shifter, and he was getting it to the 11.85 range bone stock with powershifting. I can only imagine how quick it would've been with 4.10 rear gears and transmission gears set up for drag racing. Add drag radials, and they'd have run high-10s with the manual.

    Fun to drive but I can understand why so many are crashed. The stock rear suspension system sucks in my opinion. It is sloppy and squarely to say the least. Under full acceleration the thing is a bear to keep in line. Tire slippage is bad enough but add in the sloppy rear suspension and it is a recipe for disaster. Don’t get me wrong I have been a ford guy for ever but the stang sucks.
