Not sure why not just do 8HP. They are becoming a more popular transmission swap with more aftermarket support. There’s a reason why BMW M cars have gone with the 8HP line instead of DCT now. With how far modern torque converter transmissions have become, there’s no reason to go with DCT anymore compared to 10 years ago.
8hp It's cheaper to make and mass produce. Higher end cars such as a Lamborghini huracan come with only a dct trans, no converter variant. Dct revs higher, produces sharper shifts, overall a more race oriented option.

This might be bias. But Lexus is the best of the Japanese luxury brands period. Toyota might be the best overall. Just the most efficient, comfortable, reliable, visually pleasing out of all.

@ the difference is not huge since the AA80 was the fastest shifting torque converter when its came out The AA80 i think is cheaper and you can buy it new from Lexus dealership It can handle 700tq easily no one pushed it yet And you can use the same gearbox lever
Been wondering how to do this with the URS190, 4.6 DI donk is even better, has the 8 speed stock (not much slower than the 430 you are driving lmao), gearboxes are bulletproof stock but 500hp is limit. this or an 8L90 swap would work well.

I hate to be one of those stickler to details but...their is no Japanese version of an LS just like their is no US version of the 2J/RB or just straight 6. We have inline6's and they have V8s sure but not anything equal to named motors.
early 1UZ motors make just as much as any LS when boosted so what exactly is the point you're trying to make? If I said the Barra is the Aussie 2J that would be equally valid

Also, the major advantage of an LS is how compact in physical size it is thus making very easy to fit in almost any platform in any configuration. The barra is more of an aussie thing vs the 2jz being available around the world. What "commercially available" Japanese V8 you know if can make anywhere between 450 to 600whp that's compact and have insane aftermarket support? Same question to the US about a commercially available straight 6 that has excellent aftermarket support? Remember, barras are an aussie thing only.

If you look in South Africa and the middle east, you'll see the UZ platform being used throughout. In the US, our equivalent, or rather the closest thing, for inline 6 with easy tuneability is the Duramax

However, UZ motors reliable as they are will not even come close to an LS in NA form or dollar for dollar to make the same horsepower. It doesn't have the aftermarket, pedigree, versatility, and maybe even availability (I may be pushing it with the last one) as the LS
@@socalguy829 they are also wider, heavier and larger undressed than a fully dressed LS, i've put them side by side before. They're not really comparable. I can make 500 wheel on an NA LS3 with minimal mods, you can't really do that with a 1UZ.

They're same stroke, 82.5mm, it's the same crank in the 1UZ and the 3UZ, the sleeves give out because the 3UZ is 3.5mm over bored. 87.5 to 91.0mm

Just go with 8HP nowadays.
8HP are a bit finicky as they have to be tuned for it to work flawlessly and not many people know how to tune them
