No it is not brutally fast. Far from it. Every base 911 from this century does that - and it still goes around corners fast.
That remake Shelby is just marketing BS. Cashing in on an old legend. Nothing more. It never earned any merits on its own.
If you want exciting V8 - get a classic V8 from the 60s or 70s. Completely different league.
If you want to drive fast on the Autobahn - get a 911, fast BMW or Merc (or any super car from the 80s will be fast enough) - or at least a modern Corvette.

@@thisiswaytoocomplicated most ridiculous & delusional post ever regarding a GT500.
Randy Probst. PROFESSIONAL PORSCHE race team driver. Tested the PORSCHE Gt3RS against this latest GT500.
At the Chuckwalla race course, in several laps testing bk to bk... Guess how badly the Awesome PORSCHE outran the GT500 you claim is useless & not even as good as a 60s muscle car??
      Please guess??
      20 seconds qwicker ?
      10 sec qwiker ?
      5 ?
      2 ?
      1 ?
      About a 1/10 of a second.
      Phook that PORSCHE at $160k
The GT500 out runs it on any drag strip. & goes straight to the Road race course & runs side by side. At a costvof well under $100k.
I paid $81,116 for ours, out the door.
Nobody says the PORSCHE is junk. Its just no better than the car half the cost, because the Engineer team at FoMoCo actually did there job. The front bakes are bigger than a New York style Xlarge pizza.
& at 760hp, it smokes the Porsche in the 1/4 mi, 1/2mile- & runs with it elsewhere.
@ half the price. You really have no clue what your talking about.
Just type in 'Chockwalla GT500' & watch Jason Cammisa show the fools like yourself what this Shelby can do. Its not a 1967 GT500. Is a 2020-22 GT500.

The car can go faster than 190. It probably has a 750 HP engine. The only thing holding this car back from say 250 mph is aerodynamics/wind resistance and tires. Which is probably the only reason the Ford GT40 is faster - aerodynamics. BMW has a program that in some of their very highest speed models, you must go to Germany and train at their BMW facilities on how to drive it safely. The same program should be offered for the Shelby Cobras and GT40's. I wonder how many teenagers have turned into a greasy spot on a road because they thought they could handle a Shelby Cobra.

The 5.2L V8 is amazing but the real hero is it's transmission, that 7 speed Tremec DCT is so good, it honestly puts a DSG to shame, the GT500s of the past all had manual gearboxes and it kinda held the car back a bit, but this Dual Clutch really unleashes the brutality of this car, not only is it relentlessly fast, but the car is so well sorted and dialed in, despite weighing 4200lbs or 1905KG, you don't feel like you're driving a big boat, it's cornering limits are incredibly high. It's brakes are also just as brutal as the acceleration, 6 piston calipers front and rear the thing literally stops on a dime.

I had my 2013 Shelby GT500 in Germany for 7 years. Hit over 200 MPH about a dozen times. I always thought about, "What would happen if I blow a tire at this speed?" That usually made me slow to 140/150 MPH which actually seemed pretty tame to me. Where we lived the autobahn was always being worked on, so on average you could only do the unlimited speeds for about 30 to 50 km and then the speed would drop to 120 KM/H for awhile.

"Character," You said the engine has "character," soon after saying it is a "beast." We have owned a 2020 GT500 since 1/2/2020, taking possession of it five months after ordering it. I was so lucky, in having told our Ford dealer over 2 years prior to ordering it that when Ford came out with their next GT500 I wanted to place an order through him as immediately as possible. Back to your "name calling." Your descriptions and choice of names are all dead on. I have had some nice cars, to include a 1969 Shelby GT500 that is in immaculate, nearly perfect condition even after having 87,000 original miles put on it. Despite how incredible the 2020 GT500 is, the 1969 GT500 remains my all time favorite car - perhaps due to nostalgia to a large degree...
Regardless, the video and your narration were excellent. I could feel the excitement with your every work. The passion. You definitely get what this latest iteration of GT500 is all about; its flawless performance, terrific street manners, braking that will take your breath away just as much as the unbridled acceleration, and the best handling car I have ever driven, to include some pretty exotic Porsches. I am glad I took the time to read and listen to this post, and watch the video.
I lived in Germany from 1976 - 1977 while in the U.S. Army. I got to drive on the Autobahn quite a bit (near Stuttgart), but not in my 1969 Mach 1 (it stayed stateside, stored safely). Rather, I was driving a 1966 Ford Taunus (German Ford), with a v-4 and a 4 on the column tranny. It was an excellent transportation vehicle, but it was no Mustang, much less my Mach 1 (with its street/strip built engine, ruggedly beefed up FMX tranny, and fairly steep 3.0:1 ration rear axle which was perfect for a road like the Autobahn). The Mach 1 would been able to hold its own on the Autobahn with all but the fastest of supercars back then. But, the 2020 GT500 would have well been able to run with the big dogs, no doubt - and in total comfort along with its exhilarating performance.
Thank you for raaking the time to produce this post. I get to live vicariously through you with the romp through Germany on some of its finest roadwaays.

11:36 At 186 mph I"m impressed how quiet the car is. The engine noise has gone down and I'm hearing hushed wind noise. It is jostling around a bit, but not bad at those speeds. I think I could drive a long time with it at those speeds given the right road.
Hate wheel imbalance or whatever the imbalance issue. It could be its not the tire balance, but brake rotor or something else. It might be a bent wheel.
It seems like a solid high speed car. It appears to have more interior space than the last Camaro. It has a good amount of power and seems more that capable with it. That engine with overhead cams is suppose to live just fine at 7,500 rpms. Thanks for the Drive!
