- The 2024 Ford Mustang GT ($44,090 starting in the US, $50,595 in Canada) has seen many updates and styling changes in what Ford calls the all-new Mustang. With new dual air intakes and dual throttle bodies, the 2024 Mustang GT makes more power and torque from its beloved 5.0 L Coyote Engine - pushing the numbers up to 486 hp and 415 lb ft respectively. But is it really all-new? And how does it compare to the previous generation? Thomas and James are eager to get behind the wheel of the latest pony car from Ford. We hope you enjoy the episode. Blows my mind that a mildly optioned GT is 50-55k nowadays.

I paid 40k out the door for mine in 2020, they have gone up like crazy
Now try to comperhend, that in Europe the previous GT costs $75k at the moment...

Just as in the 1970's we had randomly stacked gauges and switches surrounded by fake wood ...now we have randomly stacked screens more haphazardly placed than a NASA desk.
The 1968 Mustang GT350 still better than 2024 Mustang as the front looked exactly like Camaro Z28 Coupe.
The Mustang's interior has always been basic as well as Ford in general but you just can't deny that sound and raw power that the manual version gives you regardless of the limited horsepower it was always a blast to drive.
I think the reason for that steering is just them wanting to give us a means to still get to the crowds... They felt the mustang needed to stay a mustang😅
How else are we supposed to know there is "Danger to Manifold" 😂
you were ahead of your time, took me til at least late 80s to get my own faked interiors lol

I have a 2022 manual. I have to say that my biggest gripe with the new one is the screen in front of the steering wheel. I can configure my gauges the way I want but still get the illusion I’m analog. That said, hats off to ford for keeping a manual v8 alive in the days of electric and paddle shifters.
The way Thomas describes the steering and the feedback makes it seem like this car would be likely to run into a crowd of people for some reason.
😮
Funniest thing I've read in awhile. You sir get today's gold star.
Ion even think the steering is the reason for that😭
Omg 😂😂😂😂😂
Weird…no idea where you could get that from…none at all.
I love how we went from manual trans being a base, cheaper option, to being an exclusive option in higher trims.
It's sad days.
The manual trans is a free option. You have to pay an extra $1595* for a 10R80
The manual should be cheaper considering the parts for it are actually simpler and cheaper than the automatic option.

Fwd is a dual clutch auto
Rwd is a 4 speed

Just the sound of it starting up is like a love letter. Had a 5.0 years ago and like someone told me at the time, it would be a day I never forget when I sold/traded it. Loved that car and someday there will be another.

As an S550 owner, I really don't hate it. But there's not enough actually new there for me to torpedo my bank account and start over, especially with how much prices have increased in the last few years. But I do appreciate that it's still going at least, unlike its competitors.
Like even the SL 55 AMG!
On top of that it’s ugly
If you have a previous gen 5.0 it’s not worth the upgrade. Story might be different for the dark horse
The S550 is still waaay better looking. They made this gen look really strange. Keep yours, this one ain't worth it.
I hear the Challenger is coming back for a new generation. It’s just getting the Hurricane I6 instead of the HEMI
U guys honestly make the best car reviews I've ever ever seen u make a person crave driving a car lol amazing job keep up the amazing work!
So true. They killed it here.
i had a 1996 V6 mustang, 4th Gen, loved driving it. good to see the mustang continuing to evolve.
The passion in his voice about the steering made me realize how much they really love cars ❤
For sure, review skills are heckin top notch
If they really loved cars they would understand FOXBODY
Or how much of a Top Gear and Clarkson ripoff , I mean inspired, that was 🤔
Or he didn't change the setting for steering wheel to firm
Hey. No need to curse buddy.
I wouldn’t mind the tablet size screens if they were meant to be easily upgraded in the future. Otherwise they should be integrated better into the dash.
Modularity never works unfortunately.
@@mitchellsteindlerwhy never worked?
100% agree with them being integrated better. This is becoming more and more common in new cars and it's horrible looking. I don't get who is coming up with these ideas and who they are asking opinions of. Also when they start putting everything into the screen like climate control and everything it's worse than texting and driving at that point.
@@mitchellsteindler Um, no. Modularity is what makes things interchangeable. It's the very essence of the word.
Give me classic analogue gauges anyday.
Spot on comment on the steering feel. It’s one of the fundamental ingredients of driving fun. My Audi has the same issue, massive grip but little confidence because of little feedback
I never want to push my Audi to the limits when I had a mustang it felt great taking any corner
@@tmoney1329 yeah I don’t know what people are talking about when they talk about the steering on a mustang I don’t have a brand new one but I have a 2016 5.0 and it handles great on curves🤷🏻♂️

Dang. Thomas sounds so bummed about the Mustang. It was like a monologue and well put.
Seems like Thomas dont like the look of the 2024 Mustang GT obviously.
I just can't believe they still put that sh*t box transmission in it. And now those screens literally taped onto the dash. Ford has really stopped trying and it's painfully visible.

So true 💯
still a bad car, overpriced, plastic trash, typical trash american car, insanely bad transmission and diff too
Yeah it may be expensive but that a price I’m willing to pay for a real v8 and 6 speed manual #savethev8 😂
still has that trash can MT82 transmission though, enjoy getting locked out of gear when you are trying to drive it hard.
You're not Mr Carwow... Matt is.
I was one of the ones that paid $50,000 for the Ford Thunderbird V8 in 2002, and thought I must be crazy, which proved to be true when I sold it 2-years later for less than half what I paid.
This one seems a little better.
09:58 & 22:36 Thank you so much for not simply finding everything great as it's usual in most videos but also giving critical comments on the steering that obviously became worse.
I will subscribe your channel.
I honestly just think that Ford wants the GT to be a comfortable cruiser with a lot of power, while the named cars like the Mach 1/Dark Horse/Shelby's are the actual sports cars. It's felt like this for a while now. They should definitely do a better job at calibration when it comes to weighting up the steering wheel after selecting a sport/race mode though.
GT does stand for Gran TOURING 😊
No no no
GT stands for ghetto track
BecUse they was made for street racing
😂 you cant say this went the camaro ss is out here whipping it in every category
@ojdajuiceman6139 The Mustang and the Camaro are literally the same thing except the camaro is a little better on the track and the GT is a little better in a straight line. Mainly because they use Fords transmission.
@@burgerbandit3646o man the mt82 "fords transmission" is shit, do your research lol, Matter of fact the tremec in gms cars is so much better, ford had to put it in their track cars... also the autos are shared between cars and were co developed so you cant say ford is better there.
Not having a tremec for that price is honestly criminal.
it still comes with the mt82? no way
you right
Bingo.
The Dark Horse gets a Tremec, but even then not the TR6060.
They will add the tremec back in during a refresh. FORD always takes away features before adding them back again.
"Break traction. Understeer or Oversteer".. great knowledge that you shared there. It is one of the most important things to know when you become a GT owner. Before you go and "challenge the local at the red light", find a big empty parking lot (if you can't afford to go to track) and learn how and when "break traction" occurs. Learn how to correct Understeer/oversteer. If you are a Mustang owner, that is a regular behavior for the car. Nice review Throttle House.
One of the best explanations on steering feel and the importance of it, coming from a M2 comp owner it’s everything
I heard that and rolled over, woke my wife up, and told her to listen to the best description of why her E46 M3 matters to people who love driving.
From someone who has owned a 2019 GT350 and a 2022 Mach 1, they are asking for steering feel from the wrong version. Those two have it and then some as I am sure the Dark Horse does too.
@@swampgumpharpy7977sht i had a 05 m5 and from then on i knew the difference in steering/driving. Had an impala before that
The way I simplified it your feet connect you to the rear wheels and your hands connect you to the front. When you are driving a sports car it should be firm. It should be solid you should feel resistance and you force the front tires to pull you where you want to go.
Absolutely. These guys were spot on.
I just love the honesty and the fun in those reviews. Good job throttle house.. You never fail to amaze me 👏
Agree.
+1 not afraid to be strongly critical compared to other channels.
My GT350 over this any day. 6 speed Tremic, real hand brake, 526Hp hand built Flat Plane Crank, solid suspension and steering you can feel, excellent balance and EPIC sound. I don’t need screens. I need a good car
I love the idea behind the screens but I think they nailed it better with the S550 digital gauge cluster. It was actually made into the dash.
I really really REALLY dislike the whole IPad screen trend that automakers are chasing. You can’t find a new car nowadays that doesn’t have this design, and if it doesn’t, it’s only a matter of time before it does 😒
I know… that’s one of the biggest turn offs in so many new cars now
The screens are gawd awful. What a pity. They look completely out of place ... stuck on the dash board.
Yeah not liking the dash. its just cheap bullshat.
I like screens, but this is too much. I love my truck I have an analog gauge cluster with a 7” screen in between. I also like when they’re integrated into the dash. This just looks glued to the dash.
I like how The Sketch Monkey puts it: I’m all for the screens and the new tech, but they need to retain the housing for the gauge cluster screens and have the infotainment screen integrated into the dash. Greetings from Jamaica 🇯🇲🙂
The intro is absolutely spot on. PLEASE stop this screen trend gah.
I feel like Lexus does it best if you really want to make the gauge cluster a screen. They took theirs out of the LFA and use a sliding gauge cluster. Then they have one screen that isn’t super large for the infotainment
They’re useful, don’t pretend they’re not
@@MrRainbowSprinkles agreed on that one, that has a lot of flair to it. I think Lamborghini also does a very good job with their cluster. Stuck on screens are like the worst imo, AT LEAST make them integrated with the dash.
But I prefer a needle over them all, like in the GMAs (I think there's an additional bias to on my side for GMA, they're pure art to me, my word).
Idk there's a character to analog stuff.
@@austinbatton4849re there’s nothing wrong with screens and as long as screens are tastefully implemented and maintain a nice and apt balance between digital and analog, I don’t mind. However, stuff like the new Mercedes Benz vehicles that rely on acres of screens without a single button in sight can be too much visual overload and can venture into becoming distracting. I know Ford can’t keep doing retro, but I personally feel the S550’s interior had a nice sporty vibe to it and I feel like the S650’s interior, if done right, could’ve blended a premium feel with hints of sportiness perfectly, but I just don’t feel that. Just wish that some buttons were there for HVAC and volume for the radio.
@@austinbatton4849 absolutely especially for higher end cars. I have a baby Honda that doesn't have a lot of features. But honestly 1 good infotainment screen that integrates well in the dash should be it. Making everything a screen isn't great.
Ventilation and volume should always be buttons and knobs imo, and if they're like crisp and tactile, would add so much to the feel of a car.
Those 2 screens really crushed my soul.
I remember when I was 16 and bought my 2004 Mach 1 mustang. $30,000 MSRP. With D-plan and rebate on the mustangs that was available I paid $23,500 and with tax and tags paid $25,200 total. Worked when 13 til then and saved any cent I got from Christmas, birthday etc and paid cash for that car. Was a fun car and loved the shaker hood.
The funniest part of this is thinking dealers will only charge 50k
Dealers will probably sell it for 60-65k😂
The funnier part is that a handful of idiots are going to end up paying $60k-$70k after taxes and interest over an 8-year term going into a recession. New and used vehicles are about to fall off a cliff because everyone's out of money and these 2024's won't be an exception. The base price on a 2017 Mustang GT was like $33,000. Prices have gotten so unrealistic it's beyond all reality, in my opinion. Just comical now. You'd have to be a multi-millionaire or literally slow to buy one of these.
@@enthused7591 that’s crazy I would never spend that much on a car ! I’d rather just get the s550 one or even the older model mustang there still expensive but ! I’d rather just stick to an older one

@@ss-mw9dj Just a year. Homes are 20% more expensive than 2007 peak bubble relative to US median income, so yes; we're going into a recession lol. A $200k home in 2020 is $425k now where I live, not sure about you. Frothiest economy since the great depression.
I love that Ford offers an honest-to-goodness manual with the Coyote engine, but they really should have upgraded to a Tremec unit.
Especially considering the price and power hike... I assumed a Tremec would've made it's way in there. The MT82 had issues way back when the 5.0 was producing 412hp.
Even my old 2000 Camaro SLP had a Tremec...
@@Foxx488 I wouldn't be surprised if they did that on purpose. To try to get the people who know about cars to push them into the more expensive dark horse trim.
@@johnparker1574 I think you’re probably right.
Yes! They want us who care about our tranny shifting to buy the $10k + upgraded Tremec- DarkMare.
Should have upgraded the looks too. This is an uglier version of the S550.
Have a 2021 GT 5.0 and absolutely love it. Best sounding V8 out there. Makes me smile every time I drive and is comfortable enough for cross country trips. The perfect everyday driver, mostly practical, American sports car
Still lovin' my 2020 with pp1 and 10 speed. It is an absolute beast. No issues. But i do love the looks of this styling job. And the dual throttle bodies. Noticed Ford has went back to the Pirelli P-zero's. I had those on my 2015 Gt Convertible. The 2020 has Michelin's, I have enjoyed the Michelin tires more than the Pirelli's.
All the older generation cars are gaining popularity because not everyone can go out and spend $60-80k for cars that were $30-35k not that long ago. Everyone busts their ass every week to spend $250 on a few bags of groceries that wouldn’t even fill a Miata trunk.
It fucking sucks
Yep I got my 2007 gt for like 14k kinda high milage. But very taken care of. I used the 11 year old wheels for another year before they gave out
Those cars are 60-80K in Europe sadly.
Bought my 2017 GT for 37K here in Canada brand new. One of the last 2017's on the lot, a few months before the 2018 refreshes came in. I couldn't imagine dropping 60K on a regular GT.

The foxbody gauge cluster is sick, probably my favorite feature of the car being a foxbody owner myself. But there were more foxbodies made then any other mustang ever and probably is the most supported and built mustang platform ever made. It’s iconic as hell
I owned two in my youth and from a nostalgia factor alone, I’d probably have my gauges set to that screen….
Tom, you nailed it with your assessment of the steering. I have had this gripe ever since they went to electronically assisted steering. It’s not every model; but it’s pretty close to it… But personally, every ford i’ve driven past 2013 model year has absolutely no feedback in the steering wheel. Bravo!!

First thing I noticed was that tire pressure was at 37 psi. My 2019 Bullitt had 37 psi when I bought it. I adjusted it so that it averages 33 - 34 psi during the day at city speeds. Feels much better to me, but it’s all up to the driver.
Yep that's something I first noticed too!!!!! Me too

My first thought when it was introduced. Same grille shape, same proportions, even the headlights are practically the same, down to the DRLs!
All high volume 2024 cars are starting to have the same look I'm noticing..
I got a chance to drive the S650 yesterday here in LA , and Thomas hit the nail right on the head with the steering. Coming from owning a 2019 Bullitt, I felt that the S650’s steering left something to be desired, especially in track mode. Overall, I truly enjoyed the car. Thank you guys for this thorough review!!!
Was it numb, non response, or rubber band-y?
I will be cross shopping this and a C6 zo6
@@alexmoore5970 For me, that would be an easy decision. Get the 'Vette.
@@alexmoore5970thats a very odd idea, to be cross shopping between?.... the z06 is in a different league of car. Way different price range!
@@alexmoore5970 let me start off by saying the spec I got to drive wasn’t the one presented in this video. I got to drive a premium package with the 10 speed auto. Now that being said, I had the car in track mode on the same mountain roads, and although the steering was quicker, it definitely felt more numb than my ‘19 Bullitt. I’ve never driven a C6, so I can’t give you a fair comparison, but if you have the budget to get a S650, definitely go test drive one. They’re neat.
@selfproclaimednobody4614 very near the exact same price
I watched this a second time with the sound off just to see all the cool shots of the car. Blacked out like that makes it look very Mad Max.
Nice vlog, does it comfort for long distance driving ?
In 2017 I bought a fully loaded GT with the performance pack, it’s msrp was $2000 cheaper than the base price for a GT today. The GT in 17 started at 31k, and some dealerships offered a base GT with a supercharger for under 40k making up to 727hp IIRC and it retained warranty. IMO the mustang isn’t the performance car for everyone any more, it’s now the same heavy and expensive car everyone else is selling.
1. Inflation is a thing, along with changes in specification.
2. ‘Everyone else is selling’? How many companies are selling affordable V8 manual coupes these days, or are just about to discontinue theirs?
I love how capitalist simps are like “yea, inflation is the cause!” lol, so detached from reality.
@@joeracer302what's the cause?
Acura is selling a FWD 320hp sedan for $52K without a moonroof, rear vents, or electronic passenger seat control. Wild times.
I hear you. I bought GT Performance Pack, non premium, manual in 2017 for $29000 because they were dealing on Mustangs back then. We are way beyond inflation at this point because that’s $36k now. You won’t touch one for that price now. $49k for a similar build, but obvious more modern….in some ways. They are banking on the enthusiast crowd buying these for over inflated prices.
Visually the S650 is a step back for me. The performance improvements are really the only selling point. The screens are too much. One digital screen with apple car play would have been sufficient. How do you go from the base gt having an ipod nano for a screen to a dual iPad display?
Lmao right ? I like the base models so i was hoping no screen would come in that spec but nope everything gets big ass screen(s). All that animation and fancy graphics are all gimmicks in my opinion give me a set of gauges and a small info screen for track data thats all you need.
Hardly performance improvements. This thing is going to barely beat the outgoing S550's.
@@Sol-hd7pzyea i dont see any reason for current s550 owners to upgrade
can you talk more about the track functions on the dash. for instance tire lock for track burn outs. do not know how to enable my. any guidance will be helpful.
It's great to see its still getting built in the future 🙂
I would love to own one. In Ireland it costs a 100,000 euros to buy, and 2400 euros a year to tax. So unfair 😭
And they are crying over 50 000$😂 spoiled americans.
Haha 😂
@@honza2755Probably because the mustang is a car they see everyday, unlike here in Europe. I think over there it’s known as cheap performance or a cheap V8 in a new car.
@@honza2755what about $120.000?
@@ryansudding667the 2024 Mustang GT looked like 2010 Camaro SS for some reason.
It definitely has a lot of inspiration from the early 70s Mach 1 with that grille that comes out so far beyond the fenders and those narrow taillights from a distance look like a first gen size wise. But the screens are a mood killer.
Leave the windows down when hitting the twisties, listen for the tire squeal. All the feedback you need.
You guys are the best!
Had an S550. Nice car. At the time (2016) I was speaking to one of the management guys at Ford and he was saying the next gen car (this one) was going to be an all new aluminium design and apparently a bit of a looker. Dropping around 200kg would have really helped with the dynamics, but sadly it looks like the Ford bean counters had the last say. The 2024 car looks nice enough but it's not enough of an evolution to tempt me in to buying one.
I'm keeping my S550.
Holy grails are the 2013 to 2014 GT 500 or canyon carvers are the 2012 and 2013 Boss 302
Another brilliant review. And thank the Ford and the auto gods for NOT turning this into a EV. OK sure same chassis as old, but like the Z it just looks great. Would prefer one screen.
Like how it looks and dual intakes, but I’m an analog gauge guy. Cockpit like gauges look better than screens.
My disappointment is immeasurable and my day is ruined😂😂 someone is a report of the week/reviewbrah fan!!!!
That’s a shame the steering feel isn’t improved after it being talked about so much. Going to enjoy my 22gt and wait for the refresh of the current gen! Great video.
Seems like the steering wheel column of that Mustang GT 2024 still wasnt improved since 2013 iteration.
Aftermarket to the rescue.
Get the magneride option or tune it
Wasn't a huge fan of the design when they first introduced it but it's definetely starting to grow on me! Especially that black one🤩
Honestly I still don't like it. Last gen basically looked better in every way. It just looks like they squashed the front and back a bit.
@@spinky342 kinda looks like a batmobile now imo. Which i kinda get as this is probably the last generation of proper V8 mustangs so might as well get playful with it😀
Looks like a facade. Smooshed the front, back, and add ipads for more money. No thanks
Is the tremec only a manual transmisión?
