V8 POWER!!! 2024 Ford Mustang GT Review

- 2024 Ford Mustang GT review by The Straight Pipes. The Ford Mustang GT is putting down 486 horsepower and 418 lb-ft of torque from a 5L V8. At $56,635 USD, would you take it over the Chevy Camaro SS that doesn't exist anymore or the Dodge Challenger 392 that also doesn't exist anymore?

This does NOT look like a MUSTANG anymore.
Sounds like one, performance is badazz...BUT
THIS MUSTANG lover and Ford Performance enthusiast....
Is on the WTF list.
Those hips are CAMARO looking and that sucks.
The entire car doesn't scream
MUSTANG
Anymore
Really wish other automakers who use digital gauge clusters would offer a throwback/ vintage theme. Kudos to Ford for the fox body gauges.

What a fantastic car, and bang for your buck. Hats off to Ford for keeping the American v8 muscle car alive 👏 I’ve always been an LS guy but if I had the money for a new car I’d buy this in a heartbeat
I smell a Ford employee. Cool burner account.
In a heartbeat would only apply if it had a Tremec 6 speed
I'm glad that Ford is keeping the V8 around. However I'm keeping my Mach 1 and GT 500. Both these models have there share of tech, but as a guy in his 50s I lean a little More towards analog. Thanks for the content.
Just wait for the even better GT500 and your old heart will change
I regret not getting the s550 Mach 1. Almost got one In eruption green with the handling package but someone bought it before I could sell one of my other cars. I prefer the 550 over the new generation mustang
CAMstung 2024 + rowd/curb hitter -hand brake
why do you have a mach 1 and gt500? I'd absolutely sell the mach1. Such a disappointing "edition"
@@fdangleshadang-a-lang7149 100% agree. I don't need a new car now, but I really liked the 2023 Mach 1. With it now gone, you are left with the Darkhorse, which I don't think looks anywhere near as good on the outside (and I don't like the massive tablet on the inside of the S650). I should have gotten one. There just aren't many good cars left. I do NOT want a car w/o a manual transmission.
Ford needs to bring back Grabber Orange.
It was such a great color Lamborghini changed their orange to match it.
2016 competition orange was my favorite, tbh. They moved to a softer orange after that just wasn’t it [for me]
Competition Orange is the best Mustang Orange, as seen on the 2012 Boss 302.
Thanks for covering and discussing the whole new generation topic in this video as compared to yesterday. Great video
I love the look of the previous gen personally.
I know! So glad I got a 20 gt
This looks bland and generic as hell. Idk what Ford did but they need to find the “redo” button fast!
@G-Rated There were a lot of complaints regarding the 2018 mid-refresh styling when it was released, and then it grew on people over time.
I think new one looks good and better inside and out) than any of the previous gens.
This is all subjective of course !
@ms3ben nah you're wrong
@@ms3ben I’m not a Ford fan and I even disagree with you. The last generation looked 10x better. It didn’t look like a *half baked Camaro.*
Great thing to watch to take a break from the all nighter study sesh
Good luck on your test. Just remember, click track apps, press line lock, hold the brakes, press ok, dump the clutch and mash the gas, press ok to roll through it
Wow those stock exhaust manifolds are like mid length headers! They are really optimizing that Coyote engine with those dual throttle bodies and exhaust.
The shorty headers have been factory since the Gen1 in 2011.
@@Mangobrain82they’re just trying to find something nice to say about this new model, and they’re struggling.

I love this review. All the mega Mustang fan channels are very positive on everything. This is a great true review.
This is the best Mustang GT ever brilliant and the greatest sound I love it thank you very much for the update from Sydney Australia 😊
What a musical instrument this thing is. I loveeee the styling. Not a fan of the big screen tv on the dash but god it’s pretty in the right color
Totally agree that you should go with base Dark Horse. You get the Tremec and other stuff that makes it a good value.
Awesome video, as always, guys!
I was just waiting for you guys to post it!
I am saving up for one.
This video further whet my appetite!!
What an awesome V8 sound and I love the updates (digital screen, rear lights and grille)
Love the new looks. The wheels on this tester are fab!
Yes!!! Me Like!! Lovely tones, that is the V8 rumble I love so much. Please never take these toys away.
Looking forward to the Dark Horse review

This car looks so much better in motion. I lowkey love it
just learning how to use the term low-key
@@tylercouture216not even using the term correctly, given they stated it publicly, very highkey actually.
I saw all of these Mustangs at Irwindale Speedway on my way to work yesterday morning lol awesome!
I've had several including a 15 and 17...love this one 😍
I think Ford did a great job with this refresh! The S550 was getting long in the tooth inside and out imo.
More power would have been nice of course, but stock power is enough to have some fun. Too bad the Tremec isn't standard as it was in the Camaro! I love a good manual, but I will always pass on the MT-82.
MT-82 owner here, can confirm lol
I owned a 2018 with the MT82 and it is a delicate piece. I installed a Barton hybrid shifter with it mounted to the transmission and it felt a lot better, mainly more positive feedback and shifting.
@@jimsauer2453, I have been looking at shifter assemblies- I just did McLeod clutch, flywheel, throw out bearing so it’s just a matter of time until I get an assembly. I’ll give that one a look- thanks
Sounds like a beast!
I Like How You Guys Close The Doors in sync 🏁🤣🏁💯
Man I didn't know I would ever say this, but the new Mustang design has grown on me and im starting to like it. (I still think the s550 has the best looks tho)
I agree. It is going to be subjective right. I hope as s650 matures, they'll refine some of the parts that do not look as good. Similarly to how s550s looks slightly shifted from the beginning to its end.
I see the S650 becoming the gen that gets the most aftermarket 'adjustments' in the looks department. Very much like when the S197 first came out. The S550 refined it, hence why it looks so much better IMHO. It hasn't grown on me, but it's not a bad looking car.
@@edwardgreenjr167 Hopefully thats the potential direction of the market. I personally think its not that the Mustang is ugly, it surely matches well with the current design trends of sharp lines and angularity. Its just that the contrast of design in some areas of the car gets people taken aback; for example the front and rear end.
Like I felt a similar reaction when the Foxbodys came out. The contrast between the front, rear end and c pillar almost felt too much. But over the years it has become one of my favourite era of Mustangs (especially the SVTs). Like I feel that just like the Foxbodys, with more factory refinements, the S650 could potentially look great stock.
@@dltmdwo_91 I was hoping when I heard the rumors, it would have more nods to the fox body. The steering wheel is neat, but the body does really do much to throwback to the style of the fox body.
I still have my 22’ 10R80 and I love it, but these are so dope as well! S550 and S650 are keeping the muscle alive 💨
I still have my 17 gt and it's been 6 years now, it's still going strong!
I still got my ‘15 (got it back in 2016) and still love it!
I said the same thing !! Like the 05 brought back the 60’s look, would’ve been badass if this was a Fox body ish style.
Your car review videos are the best
@Yuri, the transition at 13.40 was sick!
Thank the editor not me
I thought Yuri edited the videos until now. Good to know that there is a hidden editor, thank you editor!😃
And also Yuri, because why not!
I’m surprised that they are still using the MT 82 considering all of the problems associated with it. A shifter upgrade helps. I installed a Barton Hybrid 3 in my 2018 and it worked great, it has adjustable stops to prevent over engaging the gears.
Yea with the price increase and no manual on the EB. Should have ditched that piece of junk, and put the Tremec in the GT.
Guess they gotta give people a reason to pony up for the DH.
I always forget how much I love Mustangs until I drive a GT or higher trim. Great car.
Compression is back to 11:1 from 12:1 from last last gen. Curious to see if these will respond to E85 as well as the 3rd gen coyote.
Owning a S550 I’d miss some nice touches the previous gen has, like the central switches to activate/deactivate trac control and hazard (that button cluster moving together looks atrocious!!). Also the red glow light pulsating behind the start engine button. Not to mention the marked caracter lines at the doors and the classic looking double bubble dash. I don’t know if I’d get this and I really wanted to like it.
3:03 those panel GAPS where the hood meets the fenders and front fascia are hilarious
Smh
Nice advt for a crowd crasher :) I am a Challenger guy however I appreciate Ford for keeping V8s on road!
Damn that's some hardcore vignette on the A-cam
Awsome guys great job ..and a great car all the best
For me 2014 was the sweet spot as far as looks. Old school and new school…
Woo hoo, still happy with my Mach 1 in eruption green, it’s epic..!
Love my 2019 Bullitt!!!! Appreciate Ford continuing the heritage.
The look of this machine... YES!
Great car, just sad that they went with the trend of just sticking tablets in it instead of building a proper dashboard.
It's true, that is one of the ugliest new interiors in any car. The tablet look is so lazy
Better than an interior from 2000
Yeah, the video gamers who like this new dash can't afford to buy this car. Us older fans who can afford this car, don't want it. I'll be keeping my '23, I special ordered it after being completely deflated from last years reveal. I've known since last Fall I wouldn't be buying the '24, and unless Ford goes back to the old dash and ditches the video game screens it looks like I'm done buying new Mustangs.
You mean traditional dashboard, meaning old dashboard. You can't tell a manufacturer what's proper.
@@taurussho86 Ford wouldn't listen any ways. I don't know anyone my age who's a current S550 owner who says they like this video game screen dash. Maybe when the 30somethings move out of mom's basement and pay off their student loan debt they'll want this new car when its 10 years old? maybe. The people with money to buy them now, don't want them in my area. Lots of us are sticking with our last gen models from what I hear.
I'm not a mustang fan but I can appreciate the history they are trying to preserve in this ev market! Great car!
Which is funny because it's thanks to Ford adding the Mach-E to Mustang family that we get to keep the V8's around longer. It gives some breathing room in the emissions regulations. That's why there is an ev Corvette crossover in the works as well.
EV market? 1% of all cars on the road?
we arent there just yet buddy
Do you guys not know that most auto manufactures are prioritizing EVs over the gas engines? I hope it gets reversed but that the market yall.
@@onehandwashestheotheryou must be real fun at parties
I'm definitely looking forward to the aftermarket stuff on this mustang! Gotta get the long tubes and a mid muffler system for a deeper unique sound!
bouta get my first car and thinking on the mustang 2024 gt premium but heard alot of dif opinions and thoughts alot of people are saying you cant tune it yet ecu is different any people that know let me know
I hope that whoever sees this comment, we all get cars like this, just keep da dream alive 🙏
Lol. God forbid I ever have to own one of these. Lol looks terrible, not fast, overpriced.
@@thehawkguy what a dumb comment. 480HP is more than fast enough for most people, looks are subjective, and overpriced? 42k USD is a decent starting price considering the interior upgrade + inflation in the last few years, and in Europe it will continue to be the cheapest way to get a V8 by far.
Just say that you hate the car and you don't really have an objective reason, it's completely fine.
Atlas Blue looks good on the Mustang.
That star shape wheel did look great 😍
I love how that car looks!
All these videos coming out about the new mustang have me really excited to get mine. Can't wait for the inevitable Dark Horse video.
I don't know how many more V8 model years we'll have with the mustang, but what a way to say goodbye.
Hey Straight Pipe guys, first off...love the channel and videos!!!❤
Question for you, if you had choice of 2023 GR Corolla, or 2022 Mustang GT Premium convertible without Perf Pkg., which way would you choose??TIA
Lovin the s650, kudos to ford for giving us gear heads a proper v8 for years to come. Now that foxbody tho🫶🏼
Really love the way this car looks. I can’t describe it but it looks, sturdy? Idk 😂

You like those flat black plastic pieces under the headlights on the Darkhorse? I think those ruin the front.

Hey Yuri, a Darkhorse or a CT4-V Blackwing? I am thinking Blackwing. They are roughly the same price.
Let's hope the after market headlights come soon. They look like Acura headlights.
This one does look better than the last one great job ford!
I’m glad Ford is keeping the muscle car game alive. Our cars have always been the best! But not gonna lie, I like the S550 better. My 2020 GT500 is incredible looking
I think the 6th gen looks better
Yesss finally!!!
A mustang guy my entire life. Now after having a German Sports car, the luxury, style, class, and motor and drivetrain......so classy. And of course they cost more....its more car! And the Mustang body style, looks like my 2002 cobra. Old school.
Hey guys, another solid review!! May ask your opinion, this or a 2024 M2?? Thanks in advance!!
Lookin like a new Accord from the front. Still a nice looking ride though
This Mustang was revealed sept of last year and the honda a few months later so if anything, the accord is a 4 door mustang.
Funny how they like the he driving when everybody else was complaining about the too light steering.
This is a huge improvement from the previous Gen and it’s competitors no longer exist. Tough to complain and just be grateful
I’m happy they tuned the sound to be more throaty and less high pitch
I just took delivery of my 2024 Mustang GT with 6 speed in atlas blue…I’m in love!
These new mustangs are nice. But my favorite is still the 2013-14
Of the modern era....yea

The front end looks like someone stuck a horsey badge on an Accord.
Mustang came out first before that honda.
@@voodoodiecast fanboy says what?
@@billiam247I feel the opposite, that the new accord’s facia felt like a Mustang, regardless these cars were designed years ago.
Intro music is always epic in your videos
i feel like the new mustang is sort of a mk5 supra kinda thing where the design grows on you, but thats just me
I agree with Yuri on the looks...the back really looks like a Camaro. 😂
Your rolex collection is sick!!!
Thanks
The head lights are soooo Cool.
I never learned manual but I’d love to rent it and learn it on the go😂😂
Precisely why company’s rent automatics…
Not a really alternative to the M4, but very nice specially the sound
Performance wise it could hang. But you’re paying more for the M4.
This car is every bit as capable as an M4, and when you get out of the car you don’t have to look at that ugly ass pig nose/ buck tooth beaver lookin front end. I’ll take this any day over M4
A loaded Dark Horse Premium would be around the same price and would utterly destroy it in performance and looks. Mach 1 already crushes it in both regards, and the Dark Horse has wider tires and more downforce than any other Mustang.
What disqualifies this from being an M4 competitor? They're both GT cars with similar weight and power.
@@dom_not_torretotedesco5707 every bit as capable as the G82 M4? Is that a joke?
I like the Mustang a lot but let's calm down lmao. There's a reason the M4 is almost twice as expensive.
Great video
The remote raving!!😍
Mustangs have grown on me the last few years, it was a joke/clown car bc I was in the marines and it was the stereotypical first car for a boot with their first few paychecks lol. this one looks and sounds great and all that power for the price. The eco looks nice and slick but the body on the v8 gives it that bulky look. Like the corners.
I totally agree!!!
Manual is the way to go. Regardless, sharp creases and muscular curves, it still looks very much like a Mustang.
Stop lying to yourself. This thing looks like it wants to be a Camaro and you don’t even have to squint your eyes to see it. What is going on with Ford??
@@G-Rated I think you need new eyes, this looks nothing like a Camaro as every design piece is basically a reinterpretation of the S550.
@@xIcarus227I ain’t gonna lie with you bruh,,, I only like this mustang cause it looks like a Camaro lol. This probably the only Mustang I’d buy besides the new edge mustang
Oh that red 1 I seen in the background look good too
@TheStraightPipes After watching your CT4-V Blackwing video, Im really considering buying one. Would you recommend buying one, or saving some money and get the Mustang GT Premium? Also under less conideration is the Audi S5 sportback and the Mercedes CLA AMG. Would love to hear your opinions, keep up the good work!
Ct4v will be more practical and a better daily. Handles better. Shifts better. Mustang is a v8 though which is a big deal lol
@@TheStraightPipes Thank you so much! V8 is definitely a big deal lol, but I do think the BW sounds amazing for a V6. Going to drive a BW this Saturday (10speed unfortunately), might be putting an order in.
Keep your Mustangs guys. Don't trade for the pizzas on the dash...lol.
If you want a manual I just can’t fathom buying this when for a few thousands more you can buy a gt350 and my god do I hate those screens.
It sounds so good💪🔥
the 2024 mustang gt looks nice i cant wait the rtr spec 2
The fact that the Mustang has outlived both the Camaro and the Challenger.
Again
Camaro also died back in 2004, and challenger didn’t come until 2009. It’s not the first time mustang has own.
The challenger was voluntarily discontinued
Could you finish your thought, I would love to know. Because the Camaro is all throughout this design. I see at as *gm* offering Ford a lifeline by discontinuing the Camaro - because who would’ve bought this Mustang had we had a brand new redesigned Camaro? 😂
@@G-Rated😂 We had a brand new Camaro design and no one bought it.
I'm torn. I have a 2020 GT with all the goodies (pp1, Magnaride, active exhaust)...but not the premium pack. I want the Dark Horse but I also love that the GT is such a great daily driver sports car.
That gen looks way better than this one
@agentofenhanced2428 I kinda agree after seeing the new Mustangs up close. I very much dislike the interior. The dual screens looks cheap and the single screen isn't much better. The digital cluster in the S550 was a good compromise.
i know im late to this but this is a wonderful powertrain. im getting over 18 mpg in the city right now since im in the break in period. wish it came with the drift stick and the spoiler frokm the darkhorse tho
Looks like they took it to Los Santos customs 😂
Wow, what a great sounding mustang!
13:44 as a Black Wheel Guy (BWG), I am ALSO with the Bronze Wheel Trend (BWT). Silver and gray and the like are not for me, as a proud BWG!!!
Loving this one
This is going to get a lot of 'exterior corrections' in the aftermarket much like when the S197 first came out. It's what happens when you go from a 'refinement upgrade' from the S197 to the S550, compared to a fresh start release in the S650.
Not a fan of the looks personally. And that interior just screams parts bin, nothing that makes you think you are sitting in a new mustang once you remove the logos. As a former S197 owner I can already see the cheap parts I'd have to replace in about 5 years.
I'm glad they are still keeping the V8, but you can tell they designed this around the eventual hybrid and pure EV options for this platform. For 45-60K, I would be lookin at a slightly used S550 Bullitt or GT350-500. Will be worth more down the line, too. But that's just MHO.
All these cars are getting crazy expensive. Nice car but unfortunately I’m not willing to have an 800 dollar car payment for it.
