It’s nice to see that the new Z06 Z07 is actually living up to the hype as expected when it was during testing. The sound is familiar to the old Ferrari game. I know Ferrari has had flat plane cranks themselves in real life… but the audio reminds of the old Ferrari Racing game commonly found at arcade arenas. I’m talking like 15-20 years ago. It’s all good.
I always thought the C8 was ugly but they nailed it with the wider and lower Z06/Z07s. Beautiful machines, and absolutely love that they added the flat plane crank. Huge step forward for GM.
This car looks nice, I agree. I'm just not sure why I would buy one. 620 HP is a pretty much useless where I live. I have 328 HP and it's overkill for my area. But if you live out in the sticks, this Vette could be a lot of fun.
@@BezmenovDisciple Yes you can, specifically by not ordering the Z07 track performance package. Instead of the purpose built high downforce rear wing, the Z06 comes with a very tasteful looking (and still functional) ducktail spoiler.
Pulled up alongside a Z-07 at a light the other day. Looked like a space ship, with carbon fiber wheels. Could feel the vibration of ITS engine in MY steering wheel. Thought I found a half-million dollar Italian hyper-car in rural IL (somehow). Then I saw the twin flags, and thought "Oh my. Corvette, what kind of monster have you made?"
@@TheStraightPipes Red actually. And dear god does that engine sound good. It was the car in front of the car in front of me. I pulled around where the road widened for a stoplight (was gonna pass the 2 cars in front of me), but when i saw the vette, I was like "well no, i'm probably not gonna pass THAT". I guess it was brand new, and the driver was pampering it, breaking it in. They were pretty slow. I didn't even try to pass. Just watched it go when the light changed.
The green looks too Lambo, the red looks too Ferrari. The orange is just right and matches the car perfectly. It’s very unique even though it’s so similar to every other supercar.
Incredible. If you’re an engine guy like myself, you realize this engine is very special (for a factory GM engineespecually). Nailed it! Can’t wait for some forced induction on this amazing piece.
I think they are going to pay homage to Arkus-Duntov by calling it the Zora, hopefully. If he had his way the C3 Corvette and onward would have been mid engine.
@@NFSBeast2365 Well I can tell you, that as far as an exotic engine goes. GM wanted to do it for a long time. But didn't like how it would suit a front engine car. So they waited till they made their mid engine chassis, before doing it.
@@hahamasala I was curious as to why Pontiac was killed off back in 2008-2009. I also heard from somebody that Pontiac was initially planning on stopping production on all their “non-sporty” vehicles (minivans and SUVs) and focus on their more sporty offerings.
@@iTrinityPlays I thought it was the GT rules that forced them to a 5.5l engine displacement so they pulled out all the stops to get the most power from it, then used that tech for the Z06 to recoupe some of the development costs, not to mention with the Z07 track package you get überbeetle GT3 RS performance for near Carrera money.

@Cj My friend... I wasn't referring to this particular car, but the (often well deserved) fame of American cars in general. This is a very good car, it couldn't be otherwise since it is a copy of the 458, both in terms of engine and chassis. Of course it turned out well, it's a copy of an excellent car!!

Yes I put my money down on a ZO6 in April of 2020 (before the car was announced) The dealership told me they'd be selling it at MSRP. Then last week they told me they were jacking up the price (market increase) of $50k after 2+ years of telling me i'd be getting it for MSRP (Which I can only afford due to a big down payment I've been saving up for a while). Yes, other dealerships are doing worse, but that was enough to take me out of the market and too late to get on another dealerships list. So I'm getting a Stingray now and keeping it until I can get an allocation for another ZO6 at MSRP.
That is horrible. Make sure you tell everybody about their bad practices, maybe post it on corvette forums, greedy dealerships like that do not deserve our business.
Find a better dealer, you'll find one somewhere. If not, when the ZR1 is announced. Be super annoying about it to your local dealer. They'll take you serious with cash waving around in their face. Something tells me that the ZR1 is going to be absolutely filthy.

as a ford guy i would get one of these over the ford gt for several reason, price and sound. the v6 does not cut it with me no matter how good it may be on the track. for those that worry about depreciation, i would keep this for a long time and not worry about that, this would also be a daily driver so if it gets damaged it can easily be repaired
That's definitely a sweet ride! I don't care for red interiors myself but I really like all the interior & exterior color options! It should keep them somewhat unique but they are already going to be pretty trendy. The startup animation was really cool also. Looked like a lot of fun on the track! You guys are so lucky.
We live in strange times, where Chevy of all manufacturers, makes a N/A V8 super sports car that sounds more like an oldschool Ferrari, than an actual modern Ferrari. Can't wait to see what they gonna do with the ''Zora''.
@@JV8901 Yep the engineers finally won over the management, it only took a federal government bailout and a change in international racing engine rules to do it. GM has always had amazing engineers, they were just hamstrung from the business side of the house. Kind of like how VW bailed out their Porsche and Audi brands by forcing them to badge engineer SUVs.
@@JV8901 What are you talking about? Do _you_ even know? GM been had the engineers to compete on this level, many of them who worked on the C8 project have been with the company for decades. Ferrari and GM’s relationship also goes back at least a decade back when they were borrowing GM’s MRC technology - licensing it to implement their engineering into some of their own products.
Thing is an absolute rocket and already sounds badass, the exhaust seems pretty heavily engineered as is, I wonder if it will experience problems with an aftermarket exhaust and a tune.
In Germany it is the same 80 year old driving completely silent and unexciting, but with a Porsche instead. Every Porsche you see, 9 out of 10 times it is an old man or women.

Both serve different purposes. Both amazing. Z06 car of the year. The Z06 is also more significant but it might not be the one we'd take at the end of the day depending how many cars you already own and how much you like manual 🤔
The sad part is, this generation of Corvette is a shift away from the "poor man's race car" - dealer mark ups are going to kill a generation of car enthusiasts
Going to pick up my Z07 HTC next week. Got it for MSRP. Can’t wait to drive it. Will be interesting to see how it compares to my 2019 ZR1 and 2020 GT350R.
Yeah that was shocking, the high revs was very European V8 which I think suits it really well considering it’s now a mid engine car like those European supercars!
The intake manifold has internal valves that allow more balanced airflow when the engine is through its firing cycle, allowing for greater than 100% efficiency.
When the ZR1 850hp twin turbo and 750lbs of torque debuts in 2024 it will be a beast!, But now the cat is out of the bag with the all new E-Ray electric front drive motor 160hp 125lbs of torque, Which technically means the Zora should be 850+160= 1010hp, Torque should be around 900lbs of torque est?
Amazing, GM put their heart and soul into a car for once, and managed to make something almost as interesting as a 12 year-old Ferrari. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED

Saw one of these in the same spec with manufacturer plates driving around the suburbs of Detroit. The sound in person is intoxicating!

My brother's company buys a lot of GM trucks so he was able to order a Z06 from GM with no mark-up. They told him it will be ready early next year.

Just give it a few years the prices will come down significantly when the C9 is released. The same thing happened with the C7 at launch.

Yeah that was shocking, the high revs was very European V8 which I think suits it really well considering it’s now a mid engine car like those European supercars!

When the ZR1 850hp twin turbo and 750lbs of torque debuts in 2024 it will be a beast!, But now the cat is out of the bag with the all new E-Ray electric front drive motor 160hp 125lbs of torque, Which technically means the Zora should be 850+160= 1010hp, Torque should be around 900lbs of torque est?
Amazing, GM put their heart and soul into a car for once, and managed to make something almost as interesting as a 12 year-old Ferrari. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
The gt350's flat plane crank is only "sort of" a flat plane crank. They made changes so that it wouldn't sound like the typical flat plane.
Pretty dumb move, but it produced a monster sounding car!
