I smiled so hard when I heard the transmission is made by Tremec, I applied for a job there a couple years back and actually got in but was offered a better position somewhere else. This company makes high quality products though, i’m super proud of their achievement with the C8.
Nissan needs to partner with them and ditch the CVT's... I don't see why you'd want any other car for the money if you're truly into driving than the vette!!! I'm wondering how it will do vs. a GTR on a longer auto-x

I understand not everyone has been into the styling of a Corvette over the years, but one thing I've loved, no matter the Model, Chevy seriously tries to give you as much bang for your buck as you can get, And that's what the Corvette has always been about.

that’s because it’s a small block V8 - you get amazing torque for the size (and weight) but it doesn’t rev as high as a dual overcam. ppl who drive and appreciate super cars all say that the revs and the sound are part of the experience.
Why do people keep comparing this car to lambos and McLaren's? Like those are 200-300k supercars. This vette starts at 60k. They're not even in the same tax bracket lol

After having driven a C8 recently and also a Ferrari 488 GTB, I can't say that I agree that "this isn't a supercar." They felt very similar with over a $200,000 price difference. I understand it doesn't have the same flair and allure as most supercars, but performance wise, it's there IMO. Nice video and quality footage, thank you!

Kevin Murzak bro you need to be educated, I live in California one of the most expensive states in the US, friends with many business owners that make way over 6 figures. Their word of advice, never ever buy new when just released. Luxury cars will depreciate its value yearly. Meaning every year the car will drop $10k in value or more. Always buy 3-4 years later or buy one that’s already been out. My friend owns a Maserati GT. 2015 model I think 30k miles. Price depreciated $75k in just 5 years.

Note to self: Tan interior in a relatively new car is already showing signs of denim staining. Edit: Really good point that I hadn’t considered is that the darker areas of the seats are likely the perforations showing the seat ventilation off. That said, I’ve owned MANY cars with leather interior and denim staining over time is a real thing. I’m sure others out there have experienced the same. Thanks to everyone (who made a respectful reply) for setting me straight!
Even if it wasn't stinkin' fast, there's so much thoughtfulness that's gone into the design. Plus you can get it maintained all over the place, not just in a few big cities.

I worked in engineering change for GMAD and I can tell you from experience that if you buy any mfgs model in the 1st two years you are their test bed. Just be warned.
The Uber Successful a good 3 years. For example 2011-2014 Ford F-250 powerstroke had the first gen of the 6.7 and it was good but from 2015-2018 it had a 2nd gen 6.7 which was even better with more power and torque and just made the truck run better. Even now the 2018-2020 is updated. They always work and make the engine better overtime with testing.

0-60 in 3.0 is insane for a 60k car, but they have a point about not being that fast on the road, you'll never beat a newer lambo or mclaren from a 60 pull.

@n s go read the article on the motor trend about the C8 versus the 992. I've seen several videos about the 992 and simply no one was impressed. it turns out that the porsche only has a better interior than the corvette when it is full of options. without the options the interior of the 992 is equivalent to the corvette. and it also has nothing to do with build quality. several supercars have more problems than the corvette. McLaren's are a good example. in fact the C8 is compared to supercars for performance, interior and exterior.
Given the price, I'm surprised you never mentioned Cayman, which is this cars competition way more than McLaren. Personally, I think think this does very well against that sort of competition given the power and performance, and I think the z06 will be awesome...but I need a manual, so I'm more excited for the GTS 4.0 than I am for this. I hope it's a success though.
The fact is that the base model C8 is already a full second per lap faster than the brand new 992 Carrera S around a track, it's way, way out of the Cayman's league.
@@vernonprice5986 The new gt500 is the same price in base model form. Weighs alot more than the c8 and was alot faster on a short technical track than the c8 in z51 form. Not even including the CFTP on the GT500 kind of disappointed by Chevy to be honest. All this hype but slower than the pig of a GT500 on a 6 year old chassis.

There's this RUclipsr I follow which bought a brand new Lamborghini Urus with Alcantara interior. With only abot 10k km the steering wheel looked like a dead animal. Absolutely disgusting while the dude never even eats in his car either. After 30k km it looked so disgusting that he had it wrapped in new alcantara. That's a car worth close to 400k Euro (433k USD).
6.2l na engine 0-60 around 3sec and mid-engine configuration and under 80grand base model. Super car dream doesn’t seem so far right now. Thank you Chevy. I love this car!! And it looks like mixed mclaren lambs and nsx outside, meanwhile lc500kinda luxury inside.
The design is derived heavily from C7, kind of like a mid engine C7. I am fan of the C3 and C6 and personally would like to see how a modern mid engine versions of those would look.

Look again, that beige interior was already discoloured. Even the non-leather surfaces where the cupholders were seemed to be already discoloured. Not a good sign for a brand new car.

@@venom5809 : There isn't one customer who has received their production model C8 yet. Though a few are hoping to receive theirs in early March which is almost here. Yes, Chevy started production earlier this month & many customer's cars have already been built but they have not been shipped out from Bowling Green to the dealers yet. They are still on QC hold. The C8s that have been photographed on transporters are ones which were all CTF (captured test fleet) C8s. The rest that are seen around the country are still pre-production models.
@RS1 : You know how people are. They have to try to be first on the block to get one. If people are patient GM is going to have rebates on these things 1.5 - 2 years from now just like they always do a year or two after a new Vette introduction.
The good feature about the 6500rpm limiter is that it protects the motor. My 3 rules for preservation and max fun for my LT-1 1. Wait until oil is at 160 degrees for full throttle. 2. Try not to hit the rev limiter. 3. Cool the oil down to normal operating temperature 190 before putting in garage. Open the hood to preserve the rubber parts.
Honestly, old man spec is secretly the way to go for vettes that don't see much track time. They're still very sporty but super comfortable as well and make a great gt. Plus the shouty colors are a little bit to try-hard for an everyday car.

If we're talking real world conditions it's 3.3s without the Z51 and 3.0s with. If we're talking on a prepped surface, then magazine testers have seen 2.8s 0-60.
@Fire Heart no, 2.9 is a good time for the Z51. I already saw a video of this car that they tested doing 0-60 in 3.1 on normal asphalt with two people, and it is not equipped with the Z51 package. you don't seem to know anything about cars to say that Chevrolet is overestimating the numbers. these numbers are not speculative, they test several times and see what was the best time, simple as that. the same is done with the maximum speed. you don't even know why this car is capable of doing 0-60 in less than 3 seconds. so you see some video of the base model with suitcases, passenger and without the Z51 package and already want to state that the car doesn’t do it at 2.9 hahaha it must be a joke
@RS1 The LT series is an LS derivative. They only call it that because they have already used LS1 all the way to LSX. Even if it wasn't, my point about push rod engines still stands

@@xdguilherme9175 ferrari 458 has something different. For the first time in Porsche's it was in 991 gt3. In Ferrari you can only get it to neutral by pulling both paddles, in Porsche you can dump the clutch just like in manual

Corvettes are great but I honestly could never get past the tail lights. I swear they used those circle tail lights for like 30 or 40 years.

Tests have it consistently doing a quarter mile in the low 11s which in my book is incredibly fast.
I think part of this is because the car seems so composed. From the reviews so far, seems like it doesn't feel as fast at it really is.

Edit: Really good point that I hadn’t considered is that the darker areas of the seats are likely the perforations showing the seat ventilation off. That said, I’ve owned MANY cars with leather interior and denim staining over time is a real thing. I’m sure others out there have experienced the same. Thanks to everyone (who made a respectful reply) for setting me straight!

I worked in engineering change for GMAD and I can tell you from experience that if you buy any mfgs model in the 1st two years you are their test bed. Just be warned.

The Uber Successful a good 3 years. For example 2011-2014 Ford F-250 powerstroke had the first gen of the 6.7 and it was good but from 2015-2018 it had a 2nd gen 6.7 which was even better with more power and torque and just made the truck run better. Even now the 2018-2020 is updated. They always work and make the engine better overtime with testing.
What about the smart people who bought the first year Corvette in 1963 and now have a Corvette worth multiples over later years.

@n s go read the article on the motor trend about the C8 versus the 992. I've seen several videos about the 992 and simply no one was impressed. it turns out that the porsche only has a better interior than the corvette when it is full of options. without the options the interior of the 992 is equivalent to the corvette. and it also has nothing to do with build quality. several supercars have more problems than the corvette. McLaren's are a good example. in fact the C8 is compared to supercars for performance, interior and exterior.
The car looks amazing but I feel like they rushed the rear end, could've made it look a lot better in my opinion

Given the price, I'm surprised you never mentioned Cayman, which is this cars competition way more than McLaren. Personally, I think think this does very well against that sort of competition given the power and performance, and I think the z06 will be awesome...but I need a manual, so I'm more excited for the GTS 4.0 than I am for this. I hope it's a success though.
Boxster GTS is good competition as well.
The fact is that the base model C8 is already a full second per lap faster than the brand new 992 Carrera S around a track, it's way, way out of the Cayman's league.

The C8 looks amazing but this is the perfect time to get a C7!!!

There's this RUclipsr I follow which bought a brand new Lamborghini Urus with Alcantara interior. With only abot 10k km the steering wheel looked like a dead animal. Absolutely disgusting while the dude never even eats in his car either. After 30k km it looked so disgusting that he had it wrapped in new alcantara. That's a car worth close to 400k Euro (433k USD).
6.2l na engine 0-60 around 3sec and mid-engine configuration and under 80grand base model. Super car dream doesn’t seem so far right now. Thank you Chevy. I love this car!! And it looks like mixed mclaren lambs and nsx outside, meanwhile lc500kinda luxury inside.

@@venom5809 : There isn't one customer who has received their production model C8 yet. Though a few are hoping to receive theirs in early March which is almost here. Yes, Chevy started production earlier this month & many customer's cars have already been built but they have not been shipped out from Bowling Green to the dealers yet. They are still on QC hold. The C8s that have been photographed on transporters are ones which were all CTF (captured test fleet) C8s. The rest that are seen around the country are still pre-production models.
@RS1 : You know how people are. They have to try to be first on the block to get one. If people are patient GM is going to have rebates on these things 1.5 - 2 years from now just like they always do a year or two after a new Vette introduction.
The good feature about the 6500rpm limiter is that it protects the motor. My 3 rules for preservation and max fun for my LT-1
1. Wait until oil is at 160 degrees for full throttle.
2. Try not to hit the rev limiter.
3. Cool the oil down to normal operating temperature 190 before putting in garage. Open the hood to preserve the rubber parts.
S2000 revs to 9000 and is proven to be an incredibly reliable motor.
exhaust sound is miles away from the c7's.....in fact c7 sound was my favourite
C6 Z06 and Zr1 also sounded fucking amazing.
C7's sound positively Vicious and badass! this new one, not so much ,,,Im sure that will change when the dohc engines come out though..

Honestly, old man spec is secretly the way to go for vettes that don't see much track time. They're still very sporty but super comfortable as well and make a great gt. Plus the shouty colors are a little bit to try-hard for an everyday car.

I already saw a video of this car that they tested doing 0-60 in 3.1 on normal asphalt with two people, and it is not equipped with the Z51 package. you don't seem to know anything about cars to say that Chevrolet is overestimating the numbers. these numbers are not speculative, they test several times and see what was the best time, simple as that. the same is done with the maximum speed. you don't even know why this car is capable of doing 0-60 in less than 3 seconds. so you see some video of the base model with suitcases, passenger and without the Z51 package and already want to state that the car doesn’t do it at 2.9 hahaha it must be a joke
