When I was ordering the car from Mcmulkin, I refused to get the car without the carbon ceramic brakes. I could have lived without all other options except the CCB, it was a must for me. I hate brakes dust and love the big brake look!!
@@thethinbluelineZ06 Yah. This was my first Corvette and that is 100% lesson learned on that one. Never again. Brandon is working with a company that is about to release Carbon Ceramic rotors to fit the non CCB cars. I am VERY interested in this for all the reasons stated 😂

Great vid dave. All tracksters i know up here only run iron for track as just too expensive as a consumable when your ceramics do need replacing. Nothing lasts forever and those are pricey compared to iron. I can live with wiping down the wheels myself. But you and brandon have definitely influenced me to step up to 2LZ. Can't justify additional coin for 3LZ when all our taxes in canada already put the car at near unobtainium. Comp seats for sure though!

I’m sure the ZR1 is going to be INSANE and I am on the list at my dealer to get one but that’s not the only criteria that should make a car “better”. 100% agree with all your points. Great video , thanks for sharing! One thing though, is you can spec Carbon Ceramic brake package separately without having to go with the Z07 option. I did that on my 2024 however it costs $10k in Canada! Well worth it though.
@ your ZR1 will have everything that you now wish you had on the Z06 like CC brakes, 3LZ, and then some. The Sebring Orange with the Habanero interior is going to be killer!!👍👏👌😊
The brake dust easy an easy fix. Just swap the pads out with Carbotech 1521 pads. Done it with two C8 Z51's and now my non-Z07 Z06. Powerstop makes a cheaper set of pads that I hear are just as good.
I got my 2025 Z06 in September. 2LZ, HTC, non-Z07, but I got the Z07 aero, and the GT2 seats. Regrets? Should have got the 3LZ package with the GT3 seats. $8k for the break upgrade is way too much for a car I’m probably not gonna track that often. For that price I’ll deal with the break dust. Overall, I agree with you 100%! It’s a truly special car that will be a collector item down the road.
Agree man I woulda done at least 2LZ hindsight and competition seats. That or waited for z06 1Lz z07 spec w competition seats. Been great cars so far and I know we have beat on them .
Great review!!! Hmm, we must have ordered about the same time. My initial order was accepted with the ZO7 pack and carbon fiber interior, but when the actual allocation was available at the dealer all carbon fiber was on constraint. I did save a bunch of money (over 20k) but didn't get exactly what I had in mind. I took delivery in Nov '23. Red Mist 3LZ coupe with lift, Scrape armor grill guards $895, stealth interior and badges, red intake & calipers, black wheels, red n black interior and a few other items. If I had it to do over, just one thing, I'd still want the Z07 visible carbon fiber with the carbon ceramic brakes (brake dust is no joke). I love seeing the motor through the glass but it's kind of an issue to keep it clean by getting in the trunk to wipe it down. Idk, HTC, Nah.

@@danb3106 Yah…. We were first allocation 2024 and there were a LOT of constraints. I wasn’t waiting any longer for the car so I can live without them but if I had the chance to option another car I wouldn’t leave them off this time
@@Rob9mmIt’s a completely different driving experience. I have a Challenger with a Gen 5 Whipple and I have owned Shelby’s and Cobras with lots of torque and I will say I honestly enjoy this driving experience so much more. Yes you will notice the torque difference but the car spends so little time in lower to mid RPMs you won’t miss is at all. The gearing and the transmission also make it FEEL like it’s got more torque than it does. The RPMs, the glorious sound, and the way it pulls up top are why you won’t miss the torque like you may think. Those PD blower cars have the torque hit and then it pulls almost flat across the power band. This car build speed as the RPMs climb and has such a different feel! It’s intoxicating and I can’t imagine you would miss that torque for long if you had a C8 Z06. If you were close to Atlanta I would gladly take you out in mine so you could experience it for yourself. Thanks for watching and thanks for your comment

I've had a 3LZ HTC for around 4 months. For the money you can't buy a more special driving experience. At Porsche you can get a 911 Base with a few options. The main negatives I see are that it is extremely thirsty for gas, and that because Chevrolet is making so many, they will depreciate more than the competition from Porsche.
@@JerryCecco I don’t think the ZR1 will be the overall better car to be honest with you. It’s going to be insanely fast after the first few gears. The Z06 will hold its own for years to come I imagine.
I know I’ll be hated by Z06 owners for saying this… the value of these cars will plummet once the new ZR1 is released. North of 800lbs torque at 4K rpm’s. Also I think GM limits the ZR1 rpm’s to 7k for a reason.

I have a 2024 ZO6 and after filling it up with 18+gallons....It says I can go 168 miles. It's been that way since day 1 but it's not a daily driver. With the 5.5 litre fpc I am always in the peddle!
@ my screenshots in video are directly from the dash….. I get about 16.6 on average including racing days over the life of the car…… but yes some days where I just go out and run it hard I can easily get single digit gas mileage LOL. At Ron Fellows we managed 5 MPG

@@UkWiLdCaTs4L1Fe You would probably miss 1100 hp and all that torque. My Challenger makes 1300 hp and 900 torque and it’s certainly a MUCH different experience. The C8 Z06 is insanely fast for what it is but it’s not remotely as fast as 1100 hp C7 Z06. It’s a much more exotic experience though. Also tuning isn’t unlocked yet for the C8 Z06 and that is the current limiting factor for performance. Keep the C7 and buy the C8 Z06? Best of both worlds
I’m a bit sad that prices have been falling off on these things. Luckily I bought mine at MSRP, but even with a few K’s off of the MSRP, it’s still on the very high end territory!!

Go to Car and Driver lightning lap and look at the results or the Nurburgring times…… even with what everyone considers a disappointing (or fake) time of 7:10.51 the C8 Z06 is still 3 seconds faster than the C7 Z06’s OFFICIAL GM TIME of 7:13.9. It’s disappointing when folks like you get on RUclips to trash talk cars and not just enjoy what’s special about each one. I’m sure you are one of the few people who drove a C8 Z06 on track and decided it wasn’t for you and DEFINITELY not because you couldn’t afford one. I’ve actually tracked both and I can tell you stock for stock the C8 Z06 is a WAY better track car. The mods game goes to the C7 Z06 because they are easy to make close to 1000hp on the stock shortblock. Respect the community and each car for what it is and realize overall the C8 is a better car in each trim level

@ I can see arguing the process for what performance you gain. Thats what I’ve said for years about the C7 ZR1 vs C7 Z06. Unless you absolutely have to have the collectibility of the ZR1 there is absolutely no reason to buy one over the Z06! Buy a Z06 for 60’s and put $30k into it and it will destroy any stock ZR1 and you’ll still have money for gas and girls! Stock for stock the C8 Z06 is definitely better than the C7 Z06. I think your point of is it worth the extra money over the C7 Z06 for most drivers on the track….. and for most drivers I agree…. It’s not

Yeah the brake dust is really bad.....I can live with it though for now. Not sure if they'll ever be an upgrade you can do. Paragon sells those other brake pads that helps with that but they say you can't really do much spirited driving with them so that doesn't really help with a car like this when you're going to be spirited driving every time you get in it. lol

They did. Dealers in The Northern California use to want 200-250k + for these 2 years ago. I’ve seen a Z07 Packaged for 300k. 160+140 Markup… Now they run around 100k😂
@@Lil_Loadin Z07s are 130-160k. Regular 1lZ-2LZ are around 110k. I find them in the Fresno California area. Right now negotiating with the dealer will go along way. Z06s aren’t selling along with regular stingrays. All C8s are going under MSRP.
That proves my point. He reached his limit 😂. The car is so much better than the VAST majority of drivers. 99% of all people CAN NOT drive this car to its max.
@ you have gone faster…. ever and Driver lightning lap at VIR the C7 Z06 is slower. Maybe not your modified Z06 but stock for stock there’s no comparison on a track. Even mildly modified and weight reduction with no tuning Brandon’s C8 Z06 does a 6.17 60-130 time and it’s posted all over his socials. How about you get your Dragy out and post a 60-130 time in your C7 Z06 with all that horsepower. You should easily be able to best that time. I love the C7 Z06 and will eventually do a max effort 2650 build but it’s not the same caliber of car as the C8 Z06. No need to bash one over the other though. Each generation is a small step forward in overall performance
just wait until your trans fails completely out of warranty and it costs you $40k in parts and labor to replace. All is good until you fall out of warranty….which makes this car impossible to own long term.

I have owned my C7Z06 M7 for 5 years and now have more than 110k miles. I do not believe any youtuber telling my their heavier C8Z with much less TQ a better car.
They're not. I have a C7 ZO6/ZO7 and I wouldn't get the C8 ZO6 over it, and I've driven both. It's boring compared to the C7 stock for stock. Even more boring after you mod the C7 ZO6. Did a max effort build with Magnuson 2650 950whp, and still saved money over buying a C8 ZO6. Looks wise C8 is not a good looking car imo. Proportions are just off and doesn't look right. People complaining of brake dust should have gotten the carbon ceramic brakes as it completely eliminates brake dust and looks 10x better. You're gonna spend that much money on a car and not get the carbon ceramic brakes or ZO7 package?
@@eric23hawks I was told by my dealer when I ordered they were on constraint with the Z07 package and I wasn’t waiting indefinitely for my car as I was first allocation for 2024 MY. And a max effort C7 Z06 would be amazing to experience but at that point you aren’t comparing stock to stock. Thats a more apples to oranges. I’m planning on getting a C7 Z06 and doing 2650 in the future so I’m not knocking your build/car. But stock for stock for me the C8 Z06 is a much better car

I've had a 3LZ HTC for around 4 months. For the money you can't buy a more special driving experience. At Porsche you can get a 911 Base with a few options. The main negatives I see are that it is extremely thirsty for gas, and that because Chevrolet is making so many, they will depreciate more than the competition from Porsche.

@@JerryCecco I don’t think the ZR1 will be the overall better car to be honest with you. It’s going to be insanely fast after the first few gears. The Z06 will hold its own for years to come I imagine.
There are aftermarket brake pads that have less brake dust. Anything you guys would recommend? Carbotech has good street pads.

I know I’ll be hated by Z06 owners for saying this… the value of these cars will plummet once the new ZR1 is released. North of 800lbs torque at 4K rpm’s. Also I think GM limits the ZR1 rpm’s to 7k for a reason.

I have a 2024 ZO6 and after filling it up with 18+gallons....It says I can go 168 miles. It's been that way since day 1 but it's not a daily driver. With the 5.5 litre fpc I am always in the peddle!

@ my screenshots in video are directly from the dash….. I get about 16.6 on average including racing days over the life of the car…… but yes some days where I just go out and run it hard I can easily get single digit gas mileage LOL. At Ron Fellows we managed 5 MPG

@@UkWiLdCaTs4L1Fe You would probably miss 1100 hp and all that torque. My Challenger makes 1300 hp and 900 torque and it’s certainly a MUCH different experience. The C8 Z06 is insanely fast for what it is but it’s not remotely as fast as 1100 hp C7 Z06. It’s a much more exotic experience though. Also tuning isn’t unlocked yet for the C8 Z06 and that is the current limiting factor for performance. Keep the C7 and buy the C8 Z06? Best of both worlds
I’m a bit sad that prices have been falling off on these things. Luckily I bought mine at MSRP, but even with a few K’s off of the MSRP, it’s still on the very high end territory!!

Go to Car and Driver lightning lap and look at the results or the Nurburgring times…… even with what everyone considers a disappointing (or fake) time of 7:10.51 the C8 Z06 is still 3 seconds faster than the C7 Z06’s OFFICIAL GM TIME of 7:13.9. It’s disappointing when folks like you get on RUclips to trash talk cars and not just enjoy what’s special about each one. I’m sure you are one of the few people who drove a C8 Z06 on track and decided it wasn’t for you and DEFINITELY not because you couldn’t afford one. I’ve actually tracked both and I can tell you stock for stock the C8 Z06 is a WAY better track car. The mods game goes to the C7 Z06 because they are easy to make close to 1000hp on the stock shortblock. Respect the community and each car for what it is and realize overall the C8 is a better car in each trim level

@ I can see arguing the process for what performance you gain. Thats what I’ve said for years about the C7 ZR1 vs C7 Z06. Unless you absolutely have to have the collectibility of the ZR1 there is absolutely no reason to buy one over the Z06! Buy a Z06 for 60’s and put $30k into it and it will destroy any stock ZR1 and you’ll still have money for gas and girls! Stock for stock the C8 Z06 is definitely better than the C7 Z06. I think your point of is it worth the extra money over the C7 Z06 for most drivers on the track….. and for most drivers I agree…. It’s not

Yeah the brake dust is really bad.....I can live with it though for now. Not sure if they'll ever be an upgrade you can do. Paragon sells those other brake pads that helps with that but they say you can't really do much spirited driving with them so that doesn't really help with a car like this when you're going to be spirited driving every time you get in it. lol

@ you have gone faster…. ever and Driver lightning lap at VIR the C7 Z06 is slower. Maybe not your modified Z06 but stock for stock there’s no comparison on a track. Even mildly modified and weight reduction with no tuning Brandon’s C8 Z06 does a 6.17 60-130 time and it’s posted all over his socials. How about you get your Dragy out and post a 60-130 time in your C7 Z06 with all that horsepower. You should easily be able to best that time. I love the C7 Z06 and will eventually do a max effort 2650 build but it’s not the same caliber of car as the C8 Z06. No need to bash one over the other though. Each generation is a small step forward in overall performance
just wait until your trans fails completely out of warranty and it costs you $40k in parts and labor to replace. All is good until you fall out of warranty….which makes this car impossible to own long term.

They're not. I have a C7 ZO6/ZO7 and I wouldn't get the C8 ZO6 over it, and I've driven both. It's boring compared to the C7 stock for stock. Even more boring after you mod the C7 ZO6. Did a max effort build with Magnuson 2650 950whp, and still saved money over buying a C8 ZO6. Looks wise C8 is not a good looking car imo. Proportions are just off and doesn't look right. People complaining of brake dust should have gotten the carbon ceramic brakes as it completely eliminates brake dust and looks 10x better. You're gonna spend that much money on a car and not get the carbon ceramic brakes or ZO7 package?

@@eric23hawks I was told by my dealer when I ordered they were on constraint with the Z07 package and I wasn’t waiting indefinitely for my car as I was first allocation for 2024 MY. And a max effort C7 Z06 would be amazing to experience but at that point you aren’t comparing stock to stock. Thats a more apples to oranges. I’m planning on getting a C7 Z06 and doing 2650 in the future so I’m not knocking your build/car. But stock for stock for me the C8 Z06 is a much better car
