Exterior will probably grow on me but there's no argument that last gen interior looked way better. The new gen interior looks like it'd be at home in a crossover or a pickup truck. Doesn't look appropriate at all in a sporty car. The iconic double hump dashboard design is gone too, which is a bummer.
My issue with it is that it looks like a mid-cycle refresh rather than a new generation. The SN95 to the S197 was a major change, and the S550 was a major change from that. This one just looks too much like the previous generation that was already 8 years old.
The SN-95 was split into two “generations,” the SN-95 and the SN-95 (internally called SN-99) “New Edge.”
The S197 was split into two “generations” as well. The S197 that debuted in 2004 and the S197 II that debuted in 2010.
This is literally no different.
It’s a mid cycle refresh. Same frame, same styling. It looks like a gt500 had a child with a Camaro. Looks okay imo but not the best looking mustang

Impressive work on the 4cyl, but it does sound like a hot hatch. I love hot hatches, but if I'm in the market for a Mustang, I'd go for the V8.

@@zachsmcl It sells better because people want to look like they're in a mustang and it's the cheapest version. If people were concerned about the 40mpg, they'd buy something else.
@@descendency mustangs were actually built for the common people, if you remember. But gas prices in modern day economy pushes common people to go for cheaper options. Easy for first world people to boast about v8s while their govt can invade anywhere for oil.

What zachsmcl is saying is that everyone knows the V8 is better so there's no need to repeat it because it's obvious, but this is much cheaper hence why people go for this much more. Saying the Mustang 8 cylinder is better than the Mustang 4 cylinder is like saying you'd rather drive a Rolls Royce over a Toyota Tercel.
@@dzello you do realize the V8 option hasn’t been the number one seller for decades. Suggesting one is better due to sales volume is laughable. Following that logic, the standard trim civics are better that the civic type R, you know, because they sell more of them. 🤣
I like S550 premium + digital cluster more. Both inside and out, has a nice mix of new and old. But the new body style specifically in the convertible option actually looks nicer than last Gen imo

This is one of those cars that you have to see in person to like, I saw the Bullitt version and it was absolutely beautiful, it had this metallic green paint and the way it wrapped the curves was amazing
Bullitt was S550, not S650
That's not the new car. But I have heard the s650 looks amazing in person.

@@axelode45 Nah, it's just modern cars have more complex surfacing that makes them come to life in person. Older cars didn't have that as much.
With modern cars, every single one looks better in person. Wasn't a huge fan of the exterior design of the maverick truck we were going to buy when I saw it in pics. But in person, the maverick looks fantastic. Especially when it's painted in Area 51.
I've never seen a car that looks worse in person.

Right? first thing i noticed, each color has it misaligned a little different.
Those gaps are part of the styling. It was done on purpose. The guy on carwow talks about it.

The new version doesn’t look bad but I’m still a fan of the last generation. I had a 2013 supercharged RTR when the S550 came out and I hated it but then it grew on me and I have had three since and currently have a 2020 Gt500. They always seem to grow on me once you see them on the road in person.
Yeah, never happened for me that way. 2013-14 was the best looking modern Mustang by far and will be the last one in my little world until the design team tops putting lipstick on this pig. Of course if they bend to the unsustainable EV fad pressure it's pretty much over for this car.
Favorite thangs is changing colors of gauge cluster/tack with the entire color bar.
13-14 still the best design. I’ve owned an s550 too.

I have, and love a 2018 GT premium conv. Perf pack, magna ride , active exhaust , forged wheels, GREAT CAR. THE NEW ONE IS JUST AS BEAUTIFUL. I am sure there will be improvements in most areas of the car. That’s what they do. I would love to drive a loaded Dark Horse 10 speed.

I feel like there are enough features on the 2024 Ecoboost, like Auto Engine Start/Stop, and the higher resolution screens, to make me want a 2024 over something like a 2019 or 2021 Ecoboost as my first Mustang. But there's no way I'm gonna be paying $15k more for those features when a 2019 Premium Ecoboost with 25k miles is only $25,000. 2024's are just way too expensive to be attractive at the current price.

The car looks nice, I do really like the looks of it... but it just doesn't look intimidating enough for some reason. Previous Mustangs had that growl about them, this one just seems neutral and rental-car ready. Maybe with upcoming variations and appearance packages it'll look a bit meaner but even that GT they were talking about didn't look all that fierce. Hard to explain, but it just looks too friendly for a Mustang, still a nice-looking car though, fitting for the period.

While I still am not a fan of the interior layout and the overall design (one large screen tacked on top). I will give it to Ford for putting good hardware and takint the time to make it a fluid experience. That makes it a lot nicer

i have the S650 GT performance pack on order. but had the 2016 ecoboost. What frustrates about all reviews on the ecoboost is the lack of forethought. The younger rev heads do actually buy this. because for low 30s, you can chuck on a big intercooler, intake and tune from PD tuning (90% of ecoboosts...) and you're 100kgs less than a GT, with much more torque and around 380hp pretty reliably. Like, i took mine to a track day here in australia and i did better times than the GT's. Maybe driver mod, but the GTs would walk away on the straights, but not by much, and through the corners i would make up 6 carlengths. My std brakes didn't fade either. the GT's brakes were done after 3 hotlaps. i felt slight fade after 8.
They are both great cars, but for totally different reasons. only reason i'm going to the GT is because i've done the ecoboost journey. Do i want to do the exact same thing to the same car? I am older and naturally have more money, i can afford the big engine car as well. But there is a big appeal for a lightweight turbo front engined rear drive sports car that can extremely easily be tuned to really, really change the car.

Crazy that there are two versions of the infotainment displays but they are essentially the same. I'm thinking I'd rather have two screens just for the little bit of extra visibility or feeling of.

Because of emissions and noise, yes.
No. The 2.7T wouldn’t be powerful enough. But the 3.0 and 3.5 would overlap for the most part with the 5.0. While the ecoboost would offer more Torque, the 5.0 offers more HP which is more appealing to buyers.

@@angelgjr1999it literally sounds good with the high performance exhaust and sounds louder and if you want take out the mufflers to make it even louder lol. And everything else the car is fast making 0-60 in 4.5 secs for a eco. Stop hating bud.

Fox bodies are the ugliest mustangs ever made they are the only mustang gen that does not look like other generations and ford know it that's why they didn't put the mustang pony logo on it. Even the taillights are different from the rest of the mustang generations. People only buy the fox bodies just to modify them for drag races because they are so cheap

A base gt is like 40 grand. Try to find another recently redesigned, brand new 500 hp RWD sports car that looks this good. The challenger is dead, the Camaro is dead, the new z is slower than the s550, so it's going to get gapped by this new car.

The Ecoboost makes 70% of the Horsepower of the GT while costing half the price to own. This is is a point every sheep spouting the same BS doesn't understand. Sometimes paying twice the cost for Insurance, gas, and maintenance and only getting 30% more power, isn't a selling point to those of us with more sense than money. I say this as a person who could have easily bought a mach 1. Balancing of responsibilities and Fun. Strange concept I know.
It's not just about peak horsepower ratings. It's how they deliver the power which makes a big difference.
Failures due to LSPI was probably too great with MT Ecoboost variants. Makes sense they decided to not offer it.
