In this video, I'll show you to a new herbicide you can get at your local big box store that will kill all your broadleaf weeds and provide you the ultimate weed control. This herbicide is unique, featuring a special blend not commonly found in other store-bought options. Its formula closely resembles the pro-grade herbicide SpeedZone, renowned as one of the best herbicides on the market. Both SpeedZone and this product, Ortho WeedClear #2, are four-way herbicides containing 2,4-D ester, Dicamca, Mecoprop and Carfentrazone. These powerful ingredients make this herbicide a top choice for getting rid of broadleaf weeds including dandelions and clover.

Weedclear #2 is now SOLD OUT at Walmart .com
If you need a good broadleaf herbicide in the meantime, I recommend Speedzone. You can get it here: amzn.to/3KfWjTg
It’s not sold out, they just double the price, it’s now 24.22
those are third party sellers, im talking about the fulfilled by walmart product
I am the new fan who has the weird or different questions so here I go how do I destroy Canadian thistles that have invaded right now I am invaded, and they are sharp they are big and yes the former owner of the house apparently did not care lol HELP!!!

Well done George! I have never heard of this one but since you said it's down south I will get some and see how it works! I'm always on the lookout for good post emergents available at big box.
Thanks AL!
Congrats on the sponsor and the super fast growth of the channel.
Appreciate that Joseph, means a lot bud
Thanks, George! I might be willing to try this, but I'm sold on the Speedzone-Tenacity mix you introduced earlier. It works wonderfully and also took care of the small amount of Poa A and T I had this year.
no problem mike! and thats a great combo!
also i agree tenacity does a pretty decent job knocking back poa, doesnt get rid of it forever but it does a good job stunting it
@@PrincessCutLawnCare if i replace speedzone with ortho for the tenacity speedzone mix, whats the new mix ratio, assuming i gota use more ortho since its weaker than speed zone?
Another winner! Some good information in this video. 👌
Will probably focus on the weeds as my next project in the fall. Right now, just happy with how the spring overseed is filling in. Was slow going but it’s getting there! Took a lot of your advice which definitely helped 😃
thanks! happy to hear your overseed is growing in! its such a good feeling when you start seeing the baby grass grow 😊
George,
I just want to let you know that you are my favorite (#1) RUclips lawn care go to guy.
Appreciate that Rene 😃
Means a lot
I’ve had good luck with Trimec crabgrass and lawn herbicide. It’s almost the same active ingredients as SpeedZone all be it, at lower percentages. But it doesn’t have Mecoprop or Carfentrazone, but is formulated with Quinclorac which takes care of the crabgrass. It’s another option for the northern grass
trimec is some good stuff 👍
Gordons also sells a Trimec Speed, I'm curious how that differs from Speedzone. Around here, Fleet Farm sells Trimec by the 2.5 gallon concentrate jug, and with about 6 acres of grass to treat that's the cheapest option.
Right after watching this, I quickly looked it up on the walmart website and its out of stock! 😭But aside from that, love the straight and to the point video! Keep it up George!
This always happens after we drop a video..
sorry about that!
Me too. In the PNW I can order it from Lowes but they won't let me pick it up there. "Restricted Shipping" Want to charge me $6. extra to ship to my house.
-Thought this would be cheaper for quick small application spraying. Guess I'll stick to SpeedZone.
It's back but for 25 😅

they make some good products!
good luck in the lawn this season my friend! sounds like you got all the tools for success!
But how does it compare to Tenacity? Also almost at 100K bro!!
Almost bro! My wife is so excited lol she’s the creative person behind the scenes with all the fancy camera work and what not, I’m just the (ugly) face of the channel 😂
To answer your question, this will be better for broadleaf weeds and tenacity will be better for grassey weeds like crabgrass
@@PrincessCutLawnCare Early congrats! Do you prefer tenacity over pre emergent crabgrass preventer in Pelletized form?
Not sure why there is a misconception about store bought herbicides. As long as I follow the label, I always get results. Great video!
CC
Most of them have lower amounts of herbicide, thus taking more product as well as multiple applications. The marketing behind it works better than most of the products. Products like SpeedZone and/or Tenacity are more expensive for a reason.
And it makes sense because they're trying to dummy proof the average consumer.
@@carado1984 So bad now I'm surprised they don't add a DO NOT DRINK- Not For Consumption label on the front of it.
hey Chuck! good to see you man, how you been???
Thanks George your always savings us money!! Great video
Love the content george! Ive never had an issue with the regular ortho weed b gon but once I use the bottle I have in the garage I might give this product a try!
hey Andy! long time no see dude, how you been?!?!?
😮 love it! Ortho is one of the best big box brands.
thanks! big box is catching on to the good stuff!
Thanks for making these useful videos. I have watched a few but I have not found one where you mention how long you need to wait after applying weedkillers before you can turn sprinklers back on. These products are expensive so we don't want to waste them if sprinklers will cause them to be less effective etc.
Thanks! The bottle says it’s rain safe within an hour but I would personally wait until the next day to water
@@PrincessCutLawnCare Thanks again. I have been looking on your channel for a similar review for products that deal with thinleaf (is that the correct term?) weeds, but I have not found one. If you haven't already created one, I'm sure it would be appreciated by more than just me.
Great video George 🤜💥🤛
Thanks bro!
All your lawn videos are great! Quick question (or could be a video?): what’s the difference between mixing the concentrate in a sprayer vs like a diy ortho dial n spray hose-end sprayer? Would the backpack sprayer be more for spot spraying vs the hose end diy sprayer for broadcasting through the whole lawn?
Thanks! Backpack sprayer will much more precise and concentrated compared to a hose end sprayer
I'll keep an eye on this. Right now I've been using Tenacity and Triclopyr Ester.
That’s a great combo 👍
Always great info thanks again brother
appreciaet that Allen
I’ve been using Petratools sprayers for a couple years now, not a bad thing to say about them! Congratulations George 👍🏻
thanks man! loving the spray so far, its super powerful
You got a new subscriber. Im glad I found your channel the way you are to the point and don't drag the video out is perfect in my opinion. The funny thing is that I have a property that is literally in the Mojave desert with no grass at all. Another property in the Smoky Mountain area and have no flat yard.
appreciate the sub sir! do you have grass at your smoky mountain property??
@@PrincessCutLawnCare You're most welcome. Some grass there but unfortunately it's mostly just nuisance stuff that grows on the side and middle of a long gravel driveway. I cut everything with a Sthil FS-561 If you know what that does, that's the kind of stuff I've got growing there lol.
I got some of this from Amazon along with a surfactant and it is the first product I have tried that killed spurge in my lawn. I saw results in 3 days. I live in southern Georgia and have centipede and St. Augustine grass and it did not harm either.
Great video man!! There's a green label SZ southern for warm season turf just a lower dose..
Thanks bro! And that’s good to know!
Thanks George, I am going to try it out when i go to Lowe's this morning. Its already in the 100's here in TX. UGH
No prob Trevor! Be sure to not apply it when it’s 100 degrees
Arggh, I see this 2 days after I bought BioAdvance weed killer at Menards! But if I hadn't subscribed to your channel, I probably never would have heard of this at all!
Fortunately my weed problem is pretty minor and 2,4-D + dicamba may be enough.
Bioadvance is not too bad, might need 2 apps but you should be good 👍
Great information, thanks! Do you have dogs that go out, and if so, how do you deal with making sure they don't get sick from the chems?
per the label, they can go back in the yard once its 100% fully dry

I purchased the PETRO HD2000(2gal) sprayer 2 months ago and so far I'm impressed. I'd give it 7 out of 10 stars.
That’s great to hear! What do you think can be improved?
@@PrincessCutLawnCare Thanks for asking....To improve the PETRO HD2000 I'd (1)Lengthen the spray wand another 5 inches or so. It's to short for a six footer. (2)Include different spray nozzles or at least make the spray nozzle connection threads to industry standards, of those like power washers so they're interchangeable. (3)Relocate the pump output pressure knob/power on/off control knob to make it more accessible instead of me trying to be a contortionist reaching way back to control the flow and on/off features, while wearing the pump. Remember that the 2gal model rides high on your back and for me, a separate on/off switch would be great for when I stop the pump for what ever reason, then I wouldn't have to guess again at my flow rate while contorting myself each time to turn the pump on and set the pump flow rate at the same time. (4)What also would be helpful, would be to enhance the labeling of the Ltrs. and Gal. markings so that they're readable. (5)The plastic wand holder is useless as it got bent on the 1st day of use and is now unusable. I'd suggest having a two point hold system to hold the spray wand in place. (6) and last, but not least, the fill cap is too hard to put on and should be reevaluated. All in all, it's a good product, especially the powerful pump, wide fill hole, spray lever and nicely padded straps. Me? I've been in the trades for many many years.
I hope this review helps someone. Shalum.
When the weeds die like you showed do you pull them or just mow over them? What is recommended?
Great content, thanks! Quick question - I've read that many of the big box store herbicides are too weak to do much good. However they seem to have the correct ingredients, just not a high enough concentration. Could you just increase the ratio used to get the stronger version. For example, mix 4 times the amount of the old Weed-B-Gone (or similar) into your pump sprayer to get a similar strength to Speedzone? Thanks!
You could do that at your own risk.
I can’t recommend because it goes against the label however if you get your math right then it would work
@@PrincessCutLawnCare Thanks! Love the channel.

Apparently, Walmart won't ship Ortho Weed Clear (Southern) to Northern states anymore. Either will Lowes. The manufacturer of Speed Zone also makes something called Trimec Speed Weed Killer, and the ingredients and concentrations are identical to Weed Clear (Southern). I just bought some in Minnesota, at a local Fleet Farm store. It has to be Trimec "Speed" Weed Killer, not the normal Trimec Weed Killer. Speed Zone is still a better deal costing 3 times as much, but have 6 times the concentration of weed killers.
Trimec Speed huh? thats a new one for me!
i heard of regular trimec but never the speed version..
just looked it up, looks amazing!
thanks for letting us know about that option!

HI George, I have a clover lawn for my honey bees. Do you know of any herbicides that kill broadleaf weeds but NOT clover?
Hi Tom, unfortunately I do not..
I would say manually pulling them is your best bet

cant believe we are almost there! my wife is super excited since shes the creative behind the channel (im just the face, she does all the artist stuff haha), i told her once we get our 100k plaque its going straight to her haha
George did you use 2.5 fluid ounces per gallon for your sprayer?
Hi! 3oz per gallon per 500sqft
Will it help with goutweed
no but this will : ruclips.net/video/bcCpBVKpcSk/видео.html
It can’t be as good as (or maybe it is) Spectracide lawn weed killer.
I had some pool construction done and in the process the contractors trampled my front yard pretty good and the next year my lawn looked like a lettuce patch growing in a weed field. It was bad. One treatment with Spectracide lawn weed killer and I was ready to start building my lawn back, it worked that well!
imo this is better for general broadleaf weeds
and spectricide is better for mild broadleaf + nutsedge
Tough grass/weeds are my problem. As far as I can guess, they are Creeping Bentgrass, Poa annual and other light green grasses. Mesotrione has been helpful, but it is quite the upkeep.
Amazon wouldn't ship to me either because I live in Seattle, but I got LUCKY. Two guys pulled up to me & said that they were at the warehouse, to pick up a dozen bottles, but the warehouse gave them 12 CASES !
Don’t forget glasses for PPE
Overspray can burn eyes with wind and drift
Great tip, yes I agree
How does Ortho WeedClear #2 or SpeedZone stack up to Sublime or Tenacity for clover and dandelion?
Weedclear 2/ speedzone will be better for dandilions
Sublime will be better for clover
Do you think this works better than Tanacity?
For broadleaf weeds… yes definitely
@@PrincessCutLawnCare Sweet, I am going to try and grab some. You had me at leaves that look like they should be in a salad.
Man I'm struggling with Poa Anna this year in my Bermuda grass in Tennessee. Do you think this would help? Or do you have another suggestion? Da Bears!
hey Dan! unfortunately this work not help with your poa issue..
the best way to control it in bermuda is to spray it with round up and replug those areas with new bermuda plugs, eventually the bermuda will spead and fill in those areas. Another thing that (kinda) helps is to make sure you bag your clippings when you start to see the seed heads. wish i could help more man! Poa is the worst
@@PrincessCutLawnCare thank you so much!!
@@Runn3r4life21no prob!
I recently tried that stuff and my weeds laughed at it.
really, what kind of weeds?
Crabgrass mostly but also some vines, clover, dandelions to mention a few. I was forced to put up a fence after my wife got a new in ground pool installed. It had to be inside the property line by 6" so I now have a 12" gap between my neighbors fence and mine. Weeds love to grow in that gap despite me putting down landscape fabric and some rocks to keep it anchored.
Hi, could you tell me if this would be safe to use on dymondia? I have a clover and dandilion infestation in my dymondia lawn.
Will this work on gravel driveways? I have been using Spectricde weed and grass kill. It's okay but they keep coming back. Any suggestions?
i would recommend looking into a ground sterilizer that will give you residual effects. heres one ive heard great things about but BE CAREFUL these are serious chemicals, always follow the label: amzn.to/4bQH4w0
My friend. Look into a weed burner. Harbor freight sells one. Thank me later.
Once again I get all excited about an effective solution to control the broadleaf buggers in my lawn and once again my excitement is deflated with the realization it's unavailable to me up here in Canada. Dang it. lol
Dandelions or plantains aren't that big a deal, since they're usually easy enough to spot-treat with even cheaper stuff. (Even cleaning vinegar in a sprayer can get them.) The things to show would be effect vs. creeping-Charlie and henbit. If something wipes those from a lawn without killing grass, then that would be worth looking for.
Hi George ,Can you recommend anything to kill Bishops weed or I call it Gout weed?I live in Newfoundland Canada .I have a patch on my front lawn.My lawn is around the size of yours. Thanks
Are the mix rates the same
For
Both products with less active ingredients?
Good question, no they are not, the weedclear requires 3oz per 500 sqft where as the speedzone is only 1oz per 1k sqft (even at these rates the speedzone still has a higher concentration)
@@PrincessCutLawnCare so Speedzone is more
Cost effective
Can I still mix this with tenacity to cover basically every weed?
Yes this would mix very well with tenacity 👍
Question, if it oversprays will it effect shrubs and perennials?
It can(although I’ve never had issues), try not to spray on windy days
Do you have a video or know what post emergents and pre emergents to control grassy weeds in a Bermuda lawn? Specifically Poa annua, dallisgrass, goose grass and crabgrass.
Hey George have used DDT, 245T and Agent Orange. How many insects, grubs and worms survived after regular spraying for several weeds in lawn.
never used ddt, 245t is outlawed and replaced with triclopyr (works great and not so toxic. only 1 half of agent orange still exists which is 24d and its in this herbicide we used in this video
does it kill poison ivy?
Can this be mixed with tenacity the same as you did with speed zone in the video you mentioned at the end?
I had to buy the northern version. Killed the clover but I have another patch of some weird weed that it didn't even seem to bother. Wish the southern version was available here in WA.
Hi George
Can I add tenacity and surfactant with ortho2
I just jumped on the Sublime train. How does this and Speedzone compare to sublime.
All 3 are excellent, sublime and speedzone are a bit more potent than this
so.. does it kill red clover... hmm? thx MA.. great review
Yes however this would be the absolute best for red clover:

Ohio here, how effective is #2 on Creeping Charlie (purple flower)? Thanks & nice video
thanks! for creeping charlie i would recommend this instead: ruclips.net/video/bcCpBVKpcSk/видео.html
Thanks and God bless
Why would someone choose this over Spectracide Weed Stop? The Spectracide has sulfentrazone in place of the carfentrazone but kills over 400 weeds. The Ortho says it's 250+ in the number of weeds killed. Is the difference in speed of kill? Is Spectracide playing fast and loose with the number of weeds killed? Can't believe the one change in ingredients would create such a difference. Thanks
It’s because this herbicide contains 24d ester unlike spectricide which contains 24d amine. The ester formulation makes the 24d much more potent as its solvent based and penetrates the leaf tissue much better. Also the carfentrazone is a 4th kicker that makes all 3 of the broadleaf herbicides more potent. However to your point, the sulfentrazone in spectricide will be better for nutsedge in particular. But for general broadleaf weeds this will be better
@@PrincessCutLawnCare Thank you.
BUT, can you use it on San Augustine grass?? If not, no good .
Yes EXCEPT Floretam St Aug
I was able to find a gallon with battery sprayer online. Just went outside and sprayed the weeds on my lawn. Will see what happens in a few days.

George, would this work for horseweed?
had to look that one up, looks like if you mix this with some round up you might has success controlling it.
thanks for asking, i never heard of that one before, learned something new
The question I always have to ask is: how does this affect seeding times?
Great question, it has a 2 week seeding window 👍
@@PrincessCutLawnCare - so apply the weed control, wait two weeks, then seed - do I have that correct?
@@stevebabiak6997 yes sir
I use high octane Vinegar in a sprayer. Kills on contact on a hot day. And totally natural.
def dont want to spray that in your lawn, the grass will go bye bye too
How does this rank vs. the Sublime you posted a video about, George? Thanks.
For general broadleaf weeds this is more than good enough.
For creeping type weeds like creeping Charlie, sublime is better
I wonder if it just isn't approved in the northern states yet. Or perhaps warm season grasses are more tolerable to over spray with the active ingredients... and they do not want the average homeowner to kill their lawn? I don't know anything about warm season lawns, just guessing as that is strange it's only available down south.
can you mix this with tenacity ? thank you
this would mix very well with tenacity

For us North guys, it isn't worth buying this. If you calculate the numbers, it makes more sense to buy Speezone and mix it. Not to mention, no one will ship it, and the only Wal-Mart seller that has it is doubling the price. Speedzone it is.
We just noticed they started price gauging on Walmart since we released this video, so I definitely agreee with you that speedzone is the way to go for now
