      @@PrincessCutLawnCare Standard North Eastern mix, nothing special. I was amazed how the weeds would turn white and comeback anyway with a vengeance.
      Imo the best way is to do a controlled burn of the dry tach , then a light layer of soil and a reseeding. A Propane torch works very well too.

    I applied the Tenacity-Speedzone mix to my lawn yesterday morning, and about 12 hours later could see the effects of the Speedzone on the broadleaf weeds. Most were definitely stressed and the leaves were drooping and starting to curl. Twenty-four hours later the green weeds from yesterday are now brown and on their way to oblivion. I'll wait a week or two for the Tenacity to strut its stuff on the crabgrass, but am very happy with the fast reaction to the Speedzone.

    I've been seriously addressing my clay soil lawn since 2016 for weeds & by amending it. it looks better & better every year, and I seem to learn a few new things every year. this spring, I finally learned what weed appeared to be coming back every year through the Fall, Winter & Spring, and slowly taking over my back yard. it's called Lesser Celandine & it is HORRIBLE. I've read up on it a little bit, & I now understand why combining certain chemical weed killers is advantageous. I've been using tenacity for years, but the Lesser Celandine kept coming back. I've made the proper adjustments & now believe I can get rid of it, although I do believe it may take 2-3 season before it's all gone.

    Orth Weed B Gone actually works really well. Round up sucks but it works for nutsedge which is why I keep it around, also to switch up the weed killing chemicals to prevent any resistant weeds being selectively spreading. Those are the cheap choices if you don't want to put in the initially investment into tenacity because that thing is expensive. Best weed killer is to have a healthy lawn and it's better to invest money into quality seeds and fertilizer with pre-emergent protection.

      @@smokes8759 tenacity is perfectly fine to apply at seeding, the label specifies so. Alternatively if you’re gonna do spring seeding and you know you dealt with a bunch of weeds last year then your first herbicide application should be by the end of March, then you seed / 2nd application mid April.

    • @kylehilfiger2249
      @kylehilfiger2249 3 года назад +3

      Chris. I had a lot of clover last year and I'm sure your looking into more too, but some things I found along the way:
      Absolutely must be using a surfactant, clover is really oily and repels sprays without it.
      It thrives in low nitrogen soil so check your soil status with a soil test.
      Best of luck!

    • @michaellane203
      @michaellane203 3 года назад +1

      Also it might be cheaper to use a product like speed zone on clover rather than Tenacity and like the other person said a surfactant is a must have for clover. You can also spike the mix with a little nitrogen to improve the results but becareful not to use too much. Good luck!

    Hey George, I appreciate your content because it’s super informative yet concise as to not confuse beginners. Just a couple clarifying questions from an Iowan (sorry Ryan Knorr, I’m just cheap).
    Could you use baby shampoo as a cost effective surfactant in stead of the product used in the video? Just curious if the product you used will be more effective because it’s meant to be diluted with other herbicides.
    Also you’re applying a full treatment to the entire lawn correct, not spot treating? Figured spot treatment would be done a couple months later as to give the lawn time to recover.
    Lastly, when would you recommend starting fertilizer applications for the lawn that remains after the weeds are dying off? Just wondering so as not to hit the weeds with herbicide to kill then provide them a lifeline with fertilizer to help them bounce back.
    Thanks in advance!

    • @PrincessCutLawnCare
      @PrincessCutLawnCare  4 месяца назад +1

      thanks a lot Trevor!
      yes you can use baby shampoo but i would personally swap that for regular ol' generic dollar store dish soap, its more concentrated and will have better surfactant properties.
      And yes in this video we did a blanket spray across the whole lawn.
      As for the fertilizer, you can apply anytime before, during or after your application. Personally i would apply it about a week BEFORE your herbicide application, reason being is weeds dye faster and more effectively when the are rigorously growing. The fertilizer will boost there growth resulting in better herbicide uptake.
      Hope i was able to help!

    I did some right of way spraying and one thing we always did was observe the direction of the wind and then work up wind spraying as we walked so we didn't go through the areas we already sprayed or get misted as we were applying. Thanks for the info on tenacity.

      That is great info. Doing the same thing, I got misted time and time again. Your skin will absorb it and you’ll start peeing what ever color liquid you drank last. Mountain Dew = green pee. Iced tea = brown pee. I’m straight up, 100% serious. Great advise, AH, Thanks.

  • @Tom-Travels

    The actual explanation you should use for surfactant is... "Makes water wetter." It causes the surface tension of water to disappear. This makes water spread faster and more evenly. It also makes penetration into the leaves better, faster.
    The best blue dye is Dollar Tree Ty-D-Bowl toilet bowl stuff. It is an awesome dye for only $1.25 a bottle. A few drops of the bowl water dye goes a l-o-n-g way.
