When using Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) to enhance service levels, there are three main decisions that will bring about change: setting the right production level, using buffers to balance supply and demand, and determining the right safety buffer sizes. The main focus is to manage lead time - that's the time it takes from when a customer orders to when they get their product. Setting realistic lead times, communicating them clearly within the company and to customers, and regularly monitoring them will help ensure efficient operations. S&OP can be utilized to create clear plans and communicate them well to satisfy your customers.
