  • S&OP is an executive management process, so how can the process operate smoothly if you can’t even get your executive in the room for the S&OP meeting?
If an executive is not showing up, this is due to one of two reasons. First, the executive does not know they are supposed to be there. If the process has never been made clear to them, or they do not know what they should be getting out of the process, then they are not going to show up to the meeting. The second reason is that they are frustrated with their current process, and it is not working for them. Why should they spend their time in a meeting that no one is prepared for, or that never provides an actionable plan? They may be neglecting these meetings out of their frustration. This is a big signal that the process needs to change.
By identifying why the executive is not coming to the meeting, you can fix the problem, either by re-educating the executive around the S&OP process, or by changing the process to deliver better outcomes from the S&OP meeting.
