  • Hello everyone, welcome to another video and thank you all for your patience during my time away from sim racing. I truly appreciated all the kind words of support you sent after I said I was stepping away for a bit in my last video.
    It’s certainly been a rough couple of months on track, but I’m really hoping the time off will break this run of terrible luck I’ve been on. So let’s put it to the test. I’m returning to Assetto Corsa Competizione and the Coach Dave GT3 Sprint with Low Fuel Motorsport.
    With my confidence so low at the moment, I’m starting from the back of the grid. The last thing I need is for another race to be ruined by poor racecraft, so I’m going to take it as carefully as I possibly can…
    Make sure you never miss a race! Hit that 'Subscribe' button and be the first to know whenever I'm racing. If you've enjoyed this Assetto Corsa Competizione gameplay video, please do leave a like - it really helps the channel! Thank you all for watching.

    Thanks for all your comments and advice. I know I’m a bit ‘rusty’ after quite a long break from ACC, and that my braking and corner speed wasn’t quite up to standard. And I can see why this is putting me (and those behind me) in more danger. Also, I know it’s completely my own fault for losing my rating - I chose to DNF, and I was fully aware of what this would do to my rating. As you’ll know from my other videos, I ALWAYS try to finish a race. But I was feeling so despondent after these, I just couldn’t face it. I WILL be back very soon, and I promise I’ll try to practice more and be better prepared. Thank you 😃

      I would recommend giving PitSkill a try. It has only 2-3 races daily so no hourly races but it's less populated and more of a community racing the same people over and over again so I would say most of the people take extra care, but I can't say incidents don't happen.

    Yeah, racing online is a thrill but a huge risk as well. If you're a streamer or someones with plenty of free time then it's not big of a deal if your race gets ruined, you can jump back onto next one. But unfortunately a lot of people can get 1-2 race per week at best.

    • @chrisrogerssimracing
      @chrisrogerssimracing  Год назад +1

      You’re spot on there. That’s why I get so frustrated… I set an hour or two aside each week to get my race in, and often it’s over within the first lap. I guess a lot of these drivers happily do 4-5 races a day. If they mess one up, it’s no big deal for them as they just go back an hour later.

  • @bensoniusprime
    @bensoniusprime Год назад +3

    People just don’t understand how to race cleanly. It’s a problem on iracing too. People are so concerned with rankings or simply their ego that they drive far too aggressively and prioritize risky moves and take extreme risks to gain a place or two instead of driving conservatively and finishing the race.
    I’ve had a terrible time in LFM RF2 races. iracing is a little bit cleaner but I see the same thing there occasionally. Ironically I think the more competitive the racing gets the more people are willing to risk it all for a momentary advantage.
    LFM has fewer users and thus fewer splits and I think the larger gap between player skills leads people to do whatever they think they can to gain an advantage, especially early in the race when the cars are bunched up.
    Personally, I hate gaining a ton of positions early in the race because it means that people who were spun earlier in the race will be charging back through the field with their temper up and desperate to make up positions. That’s when you’ll see the dive bombs or people trying to pass where they have no business making the attempt.
    It’s tough out there for someone who doesn’t care overly much about rankings or position and just wants to have fun and race pretend race cars from their bedroom.

    • @chrisrogerssimracing
      @chrisrogerssimracing  Год назад +1

      It’s a great point you make about gaining loads of positions on lap 1. I feel exactly the same! In my early days, it was always a real thrill to see 4-5 of the front-runners spinning out and picking up loads of early positions. But that excitement soon turns to terror when the same people close back in behind you, driving angry and in a big hurry to grab their positions back.

    I have only just started sim racing at age 68 and have had to put the time in to get my SA rating in ACC up to 82. As a newbie I get frustrated but other drivers on multi player servers who ram into you for no good reason. It’s not right. I am practicing to get quick enough to pass the seven clean consecutive laps test on LFM to get my rookie license. I’m several seconds off the pace at present. It’s certainly immersive and there’s so much to learn, which i quite like. Thanks for your videos, best wishes Brian.

    I'm so sorry you had another rough two races. There is just so much to keep track of in the early laps when all the cars are still bunched up, people are bound to make mistakes. I remember going through something similar a while back. I got through it by essentially staying at the back for the first couple of laps. I'd only start trying to make progress once I'd seen the cars had spread out a bit. Even then, I would still hang back if I came across a clump of cars racing each other. Sometimes I would just find a gap where I wasn't coming under pressure from behind and I would just stay in it. It wasn't always the most exciting racing, but I did manage to start finishing some races.

    • @chrisrogerssimracing

I can't find the motivation to try it on more "serious" sims like ACC or F1 because I know that would make me mad as hell. Lol. Funnily Ive never been into racing AI. MP racing is what floats my boat. However recently a couple of weeks ago spent a whole week just racing against AI and it was more fun that I'd had in ages. However it didnt satisfy me for long. Game Muscle did a video on his idea of the best formula for online MP races. 15 minutes or 8 laps and damage off. After listening to his reasoning it makes allot of sense. This is why I often revert back to GT7. It seems to have a much better formula for me as a casual player who wants online racing. Only thing is GT7 as a sim is not as good as the PC sims and it does not make the most of all of my fancy hardware. I guess we can't have it all at the moment unfortunately

    I'm having a great time racing on LFM. Yes, there are still a bunch of irresponsible drivers causing accidents but overall I get a lot of clean races. I joined about a month ago and started with the lowest 2.5 SR rating, I am now over 7 already. When you join a race during busy time over the weekend and you are in split 1 or 2, you will be racing with a lot of clean drivers with similar pace

For the most part, really good battles. I don't know, but LFM these days isn't much better than public servers. Guys are super aggressive, because no one wants to lose any ELO. One thing that is probably putting people off ACC because it puts me off ACC, No Nürburgring Nordsleife track, After a while the same tracks over an over get on my tit, I needs a break from the same tracks every time I put the game on, In other words I gets board on ACC, I would actually pay good money for the green hell in ACC, And probably put on ACC a lot if it had the full Nürburgring, After all GT3 cars do race on the track, lol, I mean they could put it in as an extra DLC, It probably coz of AC2 is coming out....
    Yeah I find myself on AMS 2 a lot lately....

But for me I just stick to AI, when I take the time to turn a game on, I juist want to relax. I find online games so much more stressful and sweaty. Constantly worrying about ruining other peoples games, while watching out for people ruining mine. Then you get the people that purposely go out of their way to wreck other drivers or team kill in shooters... I just dont think its for me anymore. I had good memories playing online in highschool when I had a massive list of people to join up with. But now In to my adult life being stuck playing with randoms is just a nightmare.

Unless you are elite level you have to mix it with drivers who are either inexperienced or are quick but have no race craft and are overly aggressive. You gotta fix your braking, Chris. In this video, there is not one single corner where you apply 100% brake input. No wonder people get surprised by you braking early. Either your pedal is broken, or you have played too much Iracing 😅

      You’re absolutely right. During my time off, I wiped my PC and reinstalled everything. Which meant I’ve had to redo my inputs and wheel/pedal settings. They do feel a little different to before. But I notice I did manage to hit 100% braking once… when I feared I was going to run into the back of the guy at the final chicane. So I suspect the main reason is because I’ve most recently spent more time racing BTCC in rF2, and got out of the habit of stamping the pedal down as hard as I can. Thanks for flagging… I’ll toughen up my foot for next time.

Really unfortunate because LFM is a great platform, if they don't address the problem people with quit running their races. Bloody hell. Trying hard not to let rip. Which split are you driving in? I'm usually in 4 or 5 and while the pace isn't as high as it is higher up, judging by this mess, drivers tend to be more cautious because they're trying to protect their safety rating so that they don't end up in Rookies again. Had a few minor bumps last night in the two races I did but nothing major. Seems like in higher lobbies, the drivers are so full of themselves that they think they're Max Verstappen but are, in fact, the driving equivalent of Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards. Don't give up on LFM, though, Chris. A couple of the crashes were caused by a lack of anticipation by the driver behind. Not everyone's going to have the same braking point and drivers need to be way more aware of that than they are. We do need people to report incidents more regularly, although judging by their Discord server, LFM's stewards already have their hands full.

    Me being someone admiring your content it is hard to see you struggle this much. NBR is really not the track to gain confidence and trust into the abilities of the community.
    Overall let me add my two cents. As LFM has become THE place for racing in ACC, the overall competition has tightened very much which means mistakes are only more severe then otherwise. Me being a Split1-Top15 driver I only every participate in a race when I am sure I am no obstacle to those around... so mostly earliest on wendesday or even after - after extensive practice. Also I watch streamed races to see what to look out for. That helps a lot with being familiar with the dangers.
    Also, as the competition is as tight as it is, being the cautious one is not always considered by the other ones. I found it is best to give it full beans when all the others do as well to not get punted - normally being the cautious type too. I'd like to leave space to the car in front of me to learn where they brake but when this puts me at risk, I tend to waive on this convinience... this of course needs selfconfidence.
    All of that tbh would not have helped you with most of the incidents... this is just mistakes from others.
    So overall I might come to the conclusion - LFM Sprint is not the right place anymore for the casual driving :( What I'd like to recommend to you is trying GT4, M2 or even the 45min races as those tend to be cleaner and the pit stop for the 45s gives you the ability to iron out being punted off lap1 sometimes.
    Wish you best of luck for the next races.

    Chris, none of that was your fault! And from what I'm seeing on other channels LFM is just a mess. Nobody knows how to drive... or cares enough to drive well. Dave Cam had a video where he was griping about the exact same thing as you, and he got dropped back into rookies because of other people hitting him!
    Honestly, I got my LFM license and have yet to do a single LFM race! I'm just too afraid of all the poor racecraft on display on your channel and others. One night a week, my league opens up our practice server to the public so we have some cars to practice against, and those 20 minute races are always a nightmare. I usually throw my hands in the air in frustration and log off!
    However, our league races are a night and day difference. Yes, incidents still happen. But not anywhere near what you've shows in your latest videos. There is accountability and everyone drives with care. Incidents can be reported to the stewards for review, and there are penalties for being at-fault. No... it's not a police state. Minor incidents are usually just the two drivers involved saying sorry/no worries and forgetting about it.
    There are leagues out there where you can be a casual driver. You don't need to race every race. Really, the only reason to race every race is if you are shooting for the championship. I just drive because I enjoy it and want good, clean racing. My last league points race was amazing. A 40 minute race with a single mandatory pitstop at Kyalami, and not only did I place well for my skill-level, I never touched another car in the entire race!
    You have a lot of supportive followers, so I don't know if you recall my other messages. But at the risk of sounding like a broken record, find yourself a good league to join. I truly think you can find enjoyment in the hobby again if you're not at the mercy and whims of careless hacks with no courtesy! I would LOVE for you to join my league on Champion Motorsports, but I don't think you're over 50 years old (I'm in the 50+ "old farts" league!) But there are other leagues in CMS, and plenty of others too! We all love your videos... you're one of the best commentators out there! We'd hate to see you give up the hobby.
