Max, big question here. I shot video with my iphone 8, filmic pro app, 4k 24fps, bitrate 100, and now i cannot export to my mac. It's always a problem. Also, sending files with airdrop, it loses quality. So, what can I do, to move the original video, super high quality to my mac, in order to edit? I cannot find online, maybe you have the answer...

I watched so many reviews of this gimbal and they all looked disappointing most likely because of the reviewers not knowing how to handle a gimbal properly. Thanks a lot for this awesome review! I may be getting this for my OnePlus 5T. Not sure if I would be able to turn off image stabilization with FilmicPro for Android though.
I got the Smooth Q when it was on sale for $99. It's a great value and makes my Note8 footage look amazing. I also really like how easy it is to do high quality moving time lapses. I also own the crane-m from them and have it for my a6500 w/ my 28 f/2 for slow-mo and b roll. The other gimbal I own is the G5 (rain proof) for my RX0. The crane-m is higher quality. But being able to have that smooth q with my Note8 just about anywhere is changing how I film. I also plug a Rode Lav mic into the Note8 while in the gimbal for better audio (though you have to slide the holding mechanism of the Smooth Q to be able to plug a mic cable in it. So far, so good
Max you just took the shame out of filming with an phone.... Lol. I've reached a point that I can't be in denial. I used to feel funny about shooting video for my clients with something that looked like a picture camera (a hacked GH2) vs my large epic looking Sony camcorder. But the results I was getting from the GH2 looked sooooo much better than the Sony camcorder the clients even didn't care. The revolution has happened again! Can't wait to see future footage you shoot with the iPhone x. Thanks!
As far as I know, you cannot turn off iPhone X’s optical image stabilization. There are various hacks on the Internet to “fix” this issue by stabilizing the OIS with a magnet. It’s a bit sketchy, but it works and will definitely take out most of the wobbles introduced by the OIS. But, I have no idea what long term affects that it might have on the phone’s camera... so, try at your own risk.
I got the Smooth 3 and I really enjoy how it makes my videos look very smooth! The main issue I have with it is that it can’t hold my iPhone X w/ OtterBox Defender case vertically. The gimbal can’t even hold my iPhone 5s with a thinner case vertically, only without the case the gimbal can hold my 5s, which is a bummer because I was looking forward to creating panoramic photos with my iPhone X. I hope Zhiyun updates the Smooth to hold a higher payload or I’ll have to resort to getting the Crane-M and buy a mount adapter for my iPhone.
Using this one with an action camera adapter (coz my phone camera sucks). I removed my action cam's battery and just use the gimbal as its power source. This thing is awesome
The only thing I've watched that the Osmo 2 has over the Smooth Q is the fast tracking of the face a d objects, but you can adjust the speed of the tracking with the Smooth Q. The 360 rotation is a killer tho Osmo can't do thag
Hi Max, thanks for the video. I just bought this and am using it for the first time today, but the video I shoot has a TON of motor noise in the background. Is this normal?? I see a lot of "footage" videos shot on the Zhiyun but they all have music over them or voice over, so I'm not sure if that's just a creative choice or necessary because of how much motor noise accompanies the videos shot on this device. I'm basically trying to tell if I have a defective device and if I should return it. Thanks for any information!
I don't know. But it's a $100 Chinese product. What could go wrong? 🤣 It's just that we pay import fees when ordering from Amazon, plus shipping costs. So the Black Friday deal would actually have not been cheaper than buying it locally. For some reason AliExpress does have free shipping. It just takes weeks to get the product.

Max, Can you test if it works with the lenses from Moment. AFAIK, the Osmo Mobile from DJI couldn't balance the phone with the lens attached, and Moment had to make custom counterweight for it. Thanks
So Max, do you think it’s worth spending $1k on a Sony RX100 V? I feel like it would be a more pleasant experience to shoot both photos and videos with that compared to my iPhone X. You can't use the USB-Port down below, when the Gimbal is turned off. So this port is absolutly pointless, unless you are shooting in portrait mode. Why doesn't nobody say this? Didn't you test it?

I'm not saying the opening music is bad, but I think it really took away from the video to the point I had to FF through it, then realized what you shot it with, went back and watched the footage again but with the sound off. ;)
Max I noticed 25fps on the pro movie - question does your iPhone have 25fps out of the box or has the app added it. I have flickering on my Pixel 2 because it only has 30fps and I'm UK (PAL) and need 25fps.

I haven’t used the aircross yet (but will very soon). From what I know maybe the aircross as long as it performs well (which it should) since it supports Manfrotto 501PL plates (and Arca Swiss) Review coming soon!
I bought this gimbal back in august and it was the worst gimbal i had bought. I recalibrated it 5 times but yet it was still off balance. There was a slight tilt. I wasnt using a heavy phone either. I used my iphone 6. The slight tilt was very noticeable in the video and I had to return it. Hope this was just a defected gimbal, but i didnt want to risk getting another one so I bought the osmo moblie. I havnt regretted since

Nice review, better late than never ;) Love my Smooth Q. Works great with my Note 8. This shows how much better it is than OIS: ruclips.net/video/YCdRpLIJCrg/видео.html As you said, it's PORTABLE, and doesn't scare people away. Since ZY Play App only does 1080P (& not 4K), I switch the controls from Camera control to Phone Control, then just use Samsung's Camera App. The other thing you can do is put a Peak Design ARCA plate on the bottom, then quickly attach to any light weight tripod, mono-pod. LASTLY, the Zhiyun BT remote!.... you can control it remotely. a.co/3fMN0sn I have a Crane for my GH5, use the ZY Play for both the Smooth Q and the Crane. The one disappointment I have is the ZY Play Moving Timelapse doesn't work on a Smooth Q (vs. the Crane). The App is a painfully slow work in progress, and the android version isn't as good as iOS (I'm still not switching!)

I asked my boyfriend who is Chinese, and he said the closest pronunciation of "Zhi" can be "Jee", so "Zhiyun" is "Jee-yun" ;-)
It would save a lot of marketing effort if they just named it SmartCloud instead of the impossible-to-pronounce-in-English ZhiYun.

Dude, you should do an “ultimate”/“highend” iPhone videographer set up. Get the free fly movi gimbal, Moment lens, and Shure MV88 microphone.

After a few months of use, mine has started violently vibrating from time to time. It’s a bit disconcerting and results in some scrapped footage.

iPhone X has no 3.5mm jack connector. In fact it has only one connector in the center of the bottom edge for everything. Anyway, Thank you.

u can calibrate it... use the zhiyun software app.... just search how to calibrate zhiyun crane ..same app u will use...
