OM5 isn't worth getting if you have a heavy smartphone thats around 290g. Its not compatible /supported for the iphone 13PM. So this will be the option to go with as its new and has 300g max payload.

Andy this is a really nice review showing real world use! Really enjoy this format. Right now I am using a Samsung S20 Note Ultra. I have two gimbals - the DJI 4 which I use with counter weights when I need to use filters / lenses. I also use a Hohem Isteady V2 when I am alone and want to film myself. It has an AI sensor that does an amazing job tracking you. I am considering replacing the DJI with this gimbal because of the bigger payload and greater roll.
If you plan to be recording while walking I don't recommend it. There needs to be a 4 axis cellular stabilizer to work like a real steady cam. This product is made to work while you stay still and just wave your arms around for it to work smoothly.

Thanks for your work. Does the Smooth 5 work well with the S21 Ultra? Did the software get resolved? I've been holding off buying anything as it seems the gymbals don't play as well with Galaxy. The gybal looks like a go but I'm wondering if it can handle the weight of a field shotgun mic. Is THAT even practical? Is there one you'd have any you recommend? I'll be a one-man band. Is a small cage like a Small Rig workable? Is there an ideal tripod you'd pair with this setup? Quick-release or such to use a genuine tripod and then go back to gymbal as needed. I'd like to be able to at least shoot at head height. I'm an old news shooter (photojournalist back in the day) and a gymbal seems a real help as I get back into field shooting again.
Im currently on a One Plus 9 Pro and gimbal status is the DJI Mobile 3. Still a winning combination to this day. Perhaps I'll rent this gimbal to give it go. The metal construction and lights are making this very tempting. Super informative video, thanks for this.

I been debating between this and the DJI OM4, I didn’t like the OM5 because of that selfie stick extendo, didn’t seem solid. But this, this has a cool amount of features and I feel like it would be pretty solid starter for myself as I’m trying to pick up videography for fun. Apparently Zhiyun is working to get support for filmic pro. The second that happens this gimbal will be hands down the winner. I haven't gotten a gimbal yet. I have an IPhones 12 max pro, and plan on getting this gimbal with a clamp on variable ND filter. If needed I will get a Blue tooth Mic setup, but for travel videos and such I don't need studio quality sound and will probably be throwing in royalty free music behind the video. I like the idea of the small fill lights. If I need more studio lighting there are LCD panels which are not expensive which would be more than adequate.
I have Huawei 20 X and tried with Smooth 4 and it was a nightmare. Because of the weight and cos it couldn't really balance. Spotted in the Smooth 5 that you're able to slide the length of it. Pretty cool.

I had smooth 4. It was super stable, had a joystick and extra buttons. Most annoying thing was its size. I’ve sold it and bought Om3. I believe this one is amazing too but having extra box for a gimbal is not my thing defo.

I have never owned a gimbal it will be my first one if I do buy. I have learned lot trying out the om5 in the store but never a zhiyun gimbal. I love to get this but not sure how big it is and difficult it is to setup on the go. Om 5 is small and easy to snap on on the go. Which one would you actually recommend. I have watched your comparison video many times but cant make up my mind. Love how you explain things clearly.

Currently using the iPhone 12, Hiohem Steady+ and Sandmarc tele lens. Trying to perfect more mobile phone photography. I know many I will say “you can;t beat a good camera” however since I don’t have that kind of money I’m doing the best with what I got for not too much more in equipment costs. Gimble was on sale for $75 when I bought it and I managed to get the Sandmarc stuff when it was on sale as well.
Once again you killed it with the video! I’m using iphone 11pro & 13 pro Dji om4 and just ordered the smooth 5 Some moment lenses. Most of them after watching your videos, I’m really happy with my gear and I love to explore with it! I hope you’re ok man, you looked a little faded at the end. Big fan of your work! Edouard
