Excellent class, Fred! Well done fitness instruction across-the-board! I'd like to also applaud you for using an alternate lyric version of the first song in your class. Personally speaking, I think black instructors who choose to play the original lyrics of that song is totally fine, because you shouldn’t ever have to candy coat history; however, when a white instructor plays the original lyrics it’s unacceptable. Several years ago, the University of Maine sports teams have banned the song entirely from all sporting events. Rightfully so (some people don't even know what the song truly means and it's not about a beautiful black woman). That said, thank you for using a different version of the song to teach others that it’s disrespectful to play those lyrics in a fitness class. Sometimes we need to do more than just say things to make a difference. We walk the walk, not talk the talk. To teach is to demonstrate. You did that, Fred! Thank you! Hopefully other instructors will follow your lead and play your version too.🥰 🖤 🤍
