Meringue Mushrooms! Delicious Decoration, Melty Munchie!

  • These delicious little mushrooms melt in your mouth before you even know what's happening! They're great as a decoration for cakes and other goodies and amazing by themselves!
    3 large egg whites
    1/4 teaspoon cream of tartar
    3/4 cup of sugar
    1/2 teaspoon vanilla or almond extract optional
    1/2 cup chocolate chips
    Whip sugar, egg whites, and cream of tartar until you have hard peaks.
    Put the mixture in a piping bag and squeeze into the form of stems and caps
    on baking sheets lined with parchment paper.
    Put in the oven at 200f for an hour to an hour and a half or until completely dry and crisp for caps and stems, crack a cap in half when cool to make sure middles are dry.
    Poke holes in the bottom of the caps.
    Melt chocolate.
    Connect stems and caps.
    Let harden at room temp or pop them in the fridge for a few minutes.
    Done!
