Here is an update you have all been waiting for Worlds Largest Off-road Trail Wrecker!!! Yes @HeavyDSparks teased us all several months ago with this idea and we all wanted to see this thing move along. Well now it is. Be sure to stay tuned to see how Sparks Motors transforms all these military axels, raw steel, and one iconic hummer into the newest iconic build of the Diesel Brothers.
Off Road wreckers come in all shapes and sizes. You have the incredible @trailmater in Moab, UT who absolutely crushes at recovering vehicles all through Moab. Then there is the one and only @MattsOffRoadRecovery with all his great recovery friends. Last but not least there is the up and coming @MURPHYSDIESEL who built a fantastic rig that won the #offroadwreckergames2024. But all these guys, will soon bow to the Worlds Largest Off-road Wrecker that we at Sparks Motors are building.
Thank you for liking and subscribing to our channel. We want to continue bringing you incredible builds, will is starts, restorations and good 'ol shenanigans.

From a functionality standpoint, Matt is miles ahead of this. Seems like a build to just say it’s the biggest and not actually have the same level on function
Matt knows his stuff
Matt builds his stuff
Of course it's a competition. I don't see any thing wrong with some healthy competition. The Hummer wrecker wont be rock crawling iSt George anytime soon tho. Seems to be way to big for that kind of rescue
@@user-cl5zy5qn5d well that’s just my point tho, it’s not a wrecker, it’s a crane more than anything. Matt’s has actual wrecker functionality and this is just a 20,000 boom crane that they’ll take down trails as a 6x6. It’s not apples to apples, Heavy D just giving it a Wrecker title to get engagement. It’s working, but still dumb imo.
@@user-cl5zy5qn5d Can't wait to see what Matt comes up with next. The spud truck is looking promising :D
We can all make the biggest off road wrecker, thing is making it so can go anywhere off road like Matts wrecker. Thats the skill.
Hi my name is John 30,000 lb
22,236 lbs gross
Right, proof's in the puddin'!
Thinking of converting a 75 rotator for off road, then I can call it the world's biggest off road wrecker. Beat that Mr D.🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂👍
Plus the skill to actually build it himself, with some help, rather than having other employees build it for you and never touch it.
Dudes safety squint game is on point
Those look like the axles Matt had in his yard that Tom bought and they didn't know what to do with because they were too large and heavy for anything they were planning on building. Good luck to these guys. I hope they can make them work for their project.
The comparisons to Matt's wrecker, which I love are like apples and oranges. They are both wreckers, and both will go off road, but of course this one will haul way more weight when finished, and Matt's will go way more places than this one ever will.
Comparison is the thief of joy. Just enjoy them both for the awesomely fabricated vehicles they are.
Nailed it.
How can any gear head throw shade on anyone that's building a badass vehicle I totally agree just grab a cold beverage and enjoy the show
Very well said
the best thing would be to stop calling it the largest whatever and comparing dicks. just build your stuff and go on imo.
Truck looks awesome! Can't wait to see it in action!
I love the diesel brothers but Matt’s wrecker will always be my favorite and is way more capable as far as getting places this huge thing won’t.
- yep needs a midpoint articulator and walking beam in the rear... ??? for extra agility.
@@kadmowwould still be much too wide for many trails.
That's kind of the point of the "largest" off-road wrecker not most "nimble" off-road wrecker@@pan6593
Each will have advantages and disadvantages. Different machines for similar work
You forget to mention the absolutely not adapted axles / independent suspension...
It's good to go on rough flat surfaces with small obstacles and wide enough roads. For the rest? Indeed, useless.
The useless weight that is highly problematic for sand and even trails.
Can't wait to see it done and what it can do. So far it's nice.
Actually now that I think about it, Matt is actually making a tilt bed wrecker for hauling side by sides exclusively so it's not really a tow truck but more of a haul truck
I see so many comparisons to Matts Off Road Recovery already but you guys are not taking into consideration that these trucks are built for completely different reasons. Matts is a purpose built working truck meant to rock crawl with a rzr in tow, this one is not
Except that in the video he said it is supposed to be a trail rig… which is an exact comparison to Matt’s wrecker sooo…. Words.
My guess on weight is 5 tons
@@jeffkeiperyeah but is this one reliable? Is it going to be put into daily service and hold up?
@@dhag72 I have no idea, I’m just saying that heavy D made the comparison himself. So it’s logical to compare it to Matt’s. Unlike what the original commenter said. Your guess is as good as mine.
I came here for this comment. That thing is too big to go off-roading like Matts .
I know Matt already made a big trail wreaker, but I've seen you go and help Matt in a moments notice. I don't think he would have any hard feelings. Keep up the great content ❤you guys.
-ha ha yes wreaker - or wrecker?? - edit helps..
Matt already talked about there being off-road wreckers at the wrecker games that were even bigger than his "the biggest off-road wrecker".
He doesn't care, it's just a name, a running joke.
Why would Matt care? He doesn't own the right to be the only one making a big wrecker. Neither heavy D or Matt are that pathetic
I agree, Matt is wise enough to know that what's important is that it's the best off road wrecker for him, not that it's the biggest or anything else about it other than it works for him and his company.
Going to say 20,150 lbs. Beast, great build. Cant wait to see that wrecker done. Good luck gents
I clenched when they lifted that frame at 16:16 with how the chains were hooked up. Such improper rigging they're lucky nobody got killed.
Thought the same thing with that and lifting the hummer body of the 2 post
🤦♂🤦♂🤦♂
Here’s my prediction 1; it will breakdown on first deployment.2; it will be too big and cumbersome for any MOAB trails. Rory Irish does more with Trailmater than any of these giant wreckers and he does it every day. I’m always interested in the builds but reality is they are more show than go. But as an aside his two main fabricators are amazing.
To be fair, other custom vehicles and custom modifications on stock vehicles usually have reliability issues when first used. I agree it will probably be too big for many trails and situations.
Wyatt Hooper built the most practical off road wrecker for RUclips to date. Proven machine adapted to recover offroad.
@@BlindmanValley yes I watch his channel, that kid has his head screwed on right, that thing is a beast, but tracks don’t work on rocks very well, but for sand, swamp and snow it’s hard to beat.
Trailmater is very impressive but it can’t make it through the same stuff is Matt’s can that’s already been proven
@@firstname5134 trailmater is a square body Chevy on leaf springs, wasn’t designed for sand. Matt’s is a total custom built frame up truck. If you’ll notice Matt, Paul and Robby are all influenced by Rory and his techniques. I enjoy all the channels but in my book Rory sets the standard for extreme off road recovery and I think Wyatt Hooper is the next generation to watch.
Matt’s sitting back with a hundredth of the budget saying this should be fun to watch and hold my beer (Matt probably doesn’t drink but you get the idea)
…hold my Mt. Dew. 😊
Matt has those same axles sitting in his yard. Me thinks he is simply waiting for this to be done so he knows what the goal is. 😂
hey guys probably you won't pay attention to this comment but about the caterpillar and mariposa, the name diesel Dave was looking is ORUGA (let me make the subtitles to Spanish on your videos please!)
Competition is a great thing. Can't wait to see this thing in action on the trails and of course the tool Matt is building
Heavy D needs to put in some bigass fans throughout the shop for his hardworking employees.
We have one floor Bigass fan in our shop and it is amazing even though we have ac 😂
Hell yea for big ass fans
No kidding, it pained me to see that old ass wall unit in the computer design room. With their money it's a no brainer to switch to split units. Far more efficient...
You can't really do that in a weld shop. Enough airflow to improve comfort on a hot day is also going to be enough airflow to blow the gas shield off of a weld
Bigass fans for the win 😅😅😅
To Dave's mom and dad- you raised a good man! Cheers 🍻
Hey, You guys should take the huge hump out of the cab of the Hummer for more room inside!!!! 😂😂
I reckon all up, about 15.9 tons. Can't wait to see the final build. AWESOME indeed😃😃😃
You just have to love these guys has the way they go "Over the Top" on every one of the fantastic machines they build, find or are given, every show is a great show, UK fan.
I think you'll find there is such a thing as too big in Moab. Nice work.
I always like seeing your builds. It’ll be interesting to see what it can do. It’ll weigh 34,756 pounds.
My hubby would answer the total weight better than me. The axles look to be between 5,000 & 7,000 a piece. The frame is over 12,000 pounds. Then the original body looks over 7,000 pounds.total weight around 25,000 to 40,000 pounds. Probably a bad guesstimate. My hubby is a flat bedder - so he would have a better guess. Do not let people comparing you to Matt’s Off Road bother you. You guys are making something unique & please own it. You rock!
They will never read ur comment for 1.
They do not care who compares them to who. You seem like the type of friend to say something like, oh yeah she said ur an idiot but who cares what she thinks, attempting to start an argument or something….
Also, these guys were building amazing vehicles when Matts off road towing had a pos jeep with a crappy lift kit (suffice to say it served them well). Point is, Matts off-road towing could never get a build like this done, this is incredible and takes an entire team to guide the team of skilled workers.
Dave is the man and his Team above all.
No one else in the world is a hero in helping and a crazy genius in creating... great job. to HeavyD and all his friends, co-workers.
The "Sparks Rotary Wrecker" is finally a reality!❤ The Hummer needs to sit lower in the frame of the 6x6... it doesn't look right. 🤔🧐🤷♂️
Hi 👋, Daves mom and dad! 😂❤
Loving this project - stuff of legends!!! Love seeing the excitement on the team's faces!!!! Miles of smiles!
Yes I like the concept. I like that they were able to get those axles from Matts he wasn’t going to use them. But I thing this wont be a rock crawler…. No A ROCK CRUSHER!
I was thinking off-road wrecker had be be shorter. That thing is SICK... Great work as usual...
Been waiting for this video to drop ever since u guys announced you were gonna build one! Can’t wait
Haven't watched this channel in a long time. I had stopped because of the commercials usually near the front of the video. Well it just happened again. Don't have time for this. See ya!
Cool, but it's the size of a semi-truck, way too big, and way to wide for trails of Moab or anywhere else. that thing will weigh 30.000 lbs.
a semi dont weigh anywhere near 30000 lbs, more like 12-14000 lbs and thats with and empty trailer
@@garthjensen245 An empty semi trailer is 12000 pounds.
@@solominded my 53' aluminum weighs 8500
@@garthjensen245 Don't overlook the extra heavy frame they are starting with, square tube not just C channel like a semi-truck, extra heavy tires, and military grade suspension that weighs far more than on any semi-truck, then the rotator wrecker boom they plan to add, and that will require hydraulic out riggers, and hydraulics for the boom and tanks for hydraulic oil they will be adding more steel to the frame to support all this, and is there any military Armorer plate left on the Humvee body or has it been removed? it all adds up if you think about it, all I can say is wait and see when it's complete, I could be wrong, but you may find my estimate is very close. 🤔🤔
Gotta find a way to make it weight exactly 17,760lbs
diesel dave looked baked out of his mind at the end lol
How fun would he be to get faded with ???
He always is. I thought everyone just accepted it lol
That guy doesn't touch that stuff, I know him, he's clean, maybe he hangs with the shop manager from bitchen rides, maybe you confused them guys up
Lmao Tell me you've never smoked weed without telling me you've never smoked weed
U know Dam well you don’t fabricate sh*t your guys do it
Sick!!! Let's see it work an work good!
Gotta love a good ol downhand on a vehicle frame lol
Matt needs to say hes got the worlds largest rock crawling wrecker...❤️🇺🇲
Naw more like the largest practical wrecker than can actually do recoveries unlike these oversized things that’ll never make it up a mountain pass
If I know David Sparks he will rock crawl his wrecker. 22,121.5 lbs.
Matt had every excuse in the books why his wrecker didn't make it up that one dune 😢
No, he doesn't, I would put Hellboy above Matt's.
@@gregorymatre ...27,200lbs...
28800lbs fully done .. Crane winches everything... great video! SUPER PEDRO..GO..
Going to say 26,600 pounds. Looking Heavy!
The down hand welds break my heart lol
You guys have some amazing machinists, perfect fit! Great work
Finish it up for the off-road record games I can't wait to see it compete
Those axles will technically go off road, but will not handle much in the way of obstacles.
This thing will have the turning radius of an aircraft carrier.
Also: a Duramax!? That's asking a lot of a Duramax.
It will be awesome to see a challenge when you complete this recovery rig .
I figured it's gonna weigh at minimum 22 thousand when finished. Can't wait to see it complete.
They should make it out of aluminium. More strength for less weight. Off road vehicles are better lighter so they don't sink. Use hydraulic blades instead of vehicle mass. And I guess 32000lbs
@@chrisoakey9841pretty sure aluminum doesnt give more strength.
27500 is my guess
Over 40 k
@@yzinger9878 per weight aluminium is approx 10 * stronger per weight. so if you have 100*200*5mm steel you can go 100*200*15. weigh less and much stronger. this is why most planes are aluminium. the confusion is usually people comparing 1mm of steel to 1mm aluminium. clearly the steel is stronger. but try comparing the thicker plate.
38,652 lbs... I'm calling it now, Its gonna be a beefy boy.
Love watching yous .a group of great guys . Yous know your stuff .would love to spend a day with yous .keep up the good work very intelligent an creative. All your trucks an equipment area awesome 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Can’t wait to continue seeing this progress!
I watched the video where Dave and his friend Matt's recovery idea surge, on the comfortably of my couch, my wife kicked me out of home, jun 24 I'm watching the wrecker build on my cellphone inside of my f150 home 😆
This is an awesome build. Every version of these wreckers is a star unto itself, keep it up! Me thinks that the last off-road wrecker event got some creative juiced flowing and your killing it! Thanks for the update.
It looks like a badass machine
You guys are taking it to a new level ! Way over ! 👍😁
Absolutely a stunning build. Love how you and your team just come up with and build these things. Makes it great to watch, can’t wait to see this driving out for its first recovery.
At least Matt did the build. Not a full dedication highly skilled crew that just does builds. Matts team did recoveries while doing the build.
Absolutely no comparison. MORR all the way.
Wo gives a af. It's friends competing. Just enjoy you get to watch the show. Too many thin skin snowflakes in this world now
Who cares
@@user-rh9mh5kh3p me, that’s why I typed it… 🤷🏼
So gay 😂 They're both sweet just enjoy..
I think I would have kept the stock axles, seems like they provide great clearance without raising the CG too much.
Oh name it, “T-Wrecker Recover “ 👍🏻 love the videos 👍🏻
Those look like the axles TomTom bought when Matt was out of town.
Good eye, I was thinking the same. They were far too exteme for any of Matt's builds.
Or were they...?
If i remember correctly, that same guy that sold Matt/TomTom the axles also sold these to HeavyD. He was trying to get rid of them loll
@@disgruntledegghead6923 Matt also got the same axles and he said that he got plans for them. So be on the lookout
@@sebastien2498yep, these sre the 3 tom tom didnt buy.
Was hoping they would do this right and re-engineer the axles. This is basically a SEMA truck. Built to be cool, and capable enough to minimally functional
Of all Dave's Stuff the thing I want is His Workshop!
True dat. Must be nice to have a shop capable of building anything You can dream.
Yes sir but the guys make the shop he has the best of both
It does look really good. You guys always do aesthetics really well. A lot o what you do is questionable, but aesthetics are definitely working.
You guys are always taking it to the next level. I love it. 34,753
18,111 lbs. Great project. Looking forward to seeing it in the wrecker games.
a regular 6x6 military truck weighs nearly 30,000, and this will weigh more, I would think
My vote is for Pedro. The gross weight will be 32,672 lbs. Great build!
Thickness
The axels weight 18,000 a piece
26400 pounds is my guess for the overall weight of the trail wrecker. This taking in fuels and extra rigging.
Great looking progress so far. Look forward to the final product.
Has to easily be 18640 lbs gawd she is gonna be a thing of beauty .
That hummer is too gorgeous to take apart.
Heavy D trying to get that get back from Hell Boy. It's going down!!! Can't wait to see them go at it!! That's Pay Per View stuff right there!! Let'sssssssss goooooo!!👍🤙💪 That was Dirty Dave on the side of the road 26,000lbs
32,689 lbs, fully loaded finished. thanks guys O love the new wrecker
Here's a breakdown of estimated weight ranges for key components:
* Hummer H1 Base Vehicle: 6,000 - 7,000 lbs
* Heavy Duty Truck Axles (x3): 12,000 - 15,000 lbs (combined)
* Recovery Equipment (winch, tools, etc.): 5,000 - 10,000 lbs
Also with the custom built frame about 9,000 lbs to 15,000 lbs
Therefore my guess of the H1 recovery rig is 36,799 lbs
That thing is gunna be sick. I’ll say 26,450lbs
Hey, Heavy D.... I mentioned 20,000 pounds. Did I WIN a million dollars??? Ha, ha. You fellas are one of the few shows that I REALLY like to watch. When you go "out of your way" to help others, it is something that TOTALLY warms my heart.
Bro, sooo glad to hear you get excited about seeing your parents !!!!! This build is fire..
Once again your fabricators get to show off how amazing they are. I want to see to when it's done and the next steps that get it there
You guys need to get together with Gale Banks for the Duromax engine to make sure it can run that rig without effort. Banks makes the best stuff for performance diesel operation. 😊
Looking forward to seeing the recoveries, also I'm guessing around 25 thousand pounds
Matt's wrecker games are going to need a heavyweight category
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
33,333 lbs or 16.666 tons
I think you should name it
RAVAGER
🎉🎉🎉🎉
Glwt build bro’s. Amazing demonstration of skill and a kickass budget for cool stuff.
Would love a cool swag bag though so I hit the #
Fully equipped, that bad boy is going to be 32k. I'm talking with cables, chains and what not
WAHOOO !! At last the Hummersaurus wrecks is ALIVE !!!
What a name
I actually really like that name 😂
21,750 lbs. Another creative project coming from the sparks shop. Kudos to the fab crew
Completed with gear fuel chains and crew the wrecker should weigh about 7.71 Tons or
17,000 lbs
looks pretty awesome so far hell yeah
No way this can "properly" rock crawl with that setup...zero articulation and crazy long wheel base. Also I can only imagine the width limitation...very edge case build but that being said freakin cool man...beast mode enabled.
I don’t know if you saw the axels…. They are very articulate. 😉
@@SparksMotorsCo Yea I guess I was a little hyperbolic, seriously tho respect man. I guess I will have to see it, it may have the range for articulation but those springs are so heavy will they actually compress when needed? Rock machines are unforgiving with their requirements, always a trade off to be made. Seems heavy on the size (pun intended) to be effective for the 80 percentile type recovery but I get it, its just cool to build cool and nothing wrong with that.
@SparksMotorsCo is it gonna even have the duramax that was in the humvee? Not saying it isn't cool looking but it looks like the shit we as rednecks used to do like slapping a mustang body on a bronco II frame and mudding it... what about it will still be a humvee besides the body sitting on massive truck frame rails?
16 inches of travel
It will suck on trails and gonna be a slug with the weight and being diesel powered its literally a big truck shit gonna be usless on semi tight trails
Nobody can deny that Heavy D has built an absolute empire. Not trying to simp but this guy has made it work through hard work, literally blood sweat and tears. I wish I had just a fraction of the motivation and drive.
Don't forget his extremely huge budget
@@sarahstephens5966 According to what he says he started with absolutely no budget though
26,422lbs it’s an absolute guess!! When I looked up humvee weights and the axles (Diesel Dave said are roughly the same weight as the humvee itself)which through me way off. If that’s true and the humvees are said to be 7700-8500lbs
Then. I would say with humvee, extra frame, axles, rims/tires and all accessories I would go with 43,422lbs but with the different stuff being said in the video, I’ve gone back and forth on everything but either way it’s gonna be badass and can’t wait to see the outcome!!!!
People, mankat 8x8 tank recovery unit already exists, and is twice as capable and twice as big as all the worlds biggest wreckers ive seen so far
No way this thing will be able to hang with Trail Mater in MOAB
Matts was built for the wierdly placed new jeeps that were not set up lol
i say 24,296 in weight. awesome content!
Thank you so much heavy D I have watched you with my dad for over around 5-10 years I think and I remember watching your show with my family and loving how you would plan out your wild creations, you have inspired me to create my own custom rc 6x6 and also my own flatbed trailer for my bike using the same blueprint layout you used to use and I just have to say, thank you for raising me
Your the best heavy D
Hi Mom and Dad 👋😃
Why is HeavyD building this? He mentioned doing recovery's in Moab in the first video. I don't see how that would work. HeavyD does Not have a towing company near Moab. If someone needed to be recovered in Moab or southern Utah. They would just call Trail Mater, Matt's off road, Fab Rats, or Casey's. HeavyD is not going to drive all the way to Moab from Woods Cross city, to Moab to do a recovery. So this whole, worlds largest trail wreaker is just for Show?
Casey is many many miles away from all of the crews you mentioned. Plus he's got his hands full in his part of town anyway.
Great theory though, I believe it's just for show and clout too.
I bet would drive the distance to rescue someone in moab
@@robertquackenbush5547 Yep, just for the clout. Typical "heavy" d style.
And for the videos.
It's just leeching content from a popular channel.
Why do care u think you know everything
I think the 6 x 6 tow trucks going to weigh 24,040 lb going to be awesome can't wait to see it done.
Here's a breakdown of estimated weight ranges for key components:
* Hummer H1 Base Vehicle: 6,000 - 7,000 lbs
* Heavy Duty Truck Axles (x3): 12,000 - 15,000 lbs (combined)
* Recovery Equipment (winch, tools, etc.): 5,000 - 10,000 lbs
Therefore my guess of the H1 recovery will be 31500lbs
I wish Matt would have never called his wrecker “ the worlds largest off road wrecker” This stuff is getting old
He set a target when he made that statement There will always some one building a bigger one. Matt’s is in a category of its own and can do stuff this one will never do. In Matt’s environment his will always be the biggest and most capable!
I'm commenting straight off seeing it. So maybe changes are coming. I will say it looks so strong and tough but stiff. I hope it ends up with more travel and flex with all that strength. The true off road wrecker should be able to go just about everywhere these rigs can go to get em out. Looks bad ass Dave's! Definitely something never seen before. Curious to see how the rear takes shape. The body getting stretch or a short bed with wrecker arm hanging out? And how will it look integrated not just a scabbed on mechanism. Excited to see.
That looks awesome keep up the amazing work you guys do. And after it's all done it might weigh 10 tons.
Hi mom and dad. Nice to meet you from New Mexico
22640lbs Love your show your content is rich and entertaining.
0:34 what a badass truck
Im excited to watch this build as a fabricator myself but on a much smaller scale. There are trails around me that could use a 4wd dually lifted to get trucks out of some areas but its crazy the price on some wreckers anymore. I feel like this is going to be around 20,742lbs when its done. Seeing as im not sure on the tires that will be used and what engine/trans combo
Weight will be somewhere around 24,500lbs dry
