I wish I was 50 years younger and had a chance to work with these guys. I am an old 101 St. Airborne Paratrooper who was in Rescue with a Rescue program that worked throughout the Mid Western States and I loved Repealing and doing the Crazy work off of the bottom of Helicopter's. I did several Rescues and recoveries in the 1960's I watch these movies and relive many. Today I am 83 years old born July 17. 1939 and if they would allow me I would still repeal over those cliffs hanging from the boom of the wrecker. I have rode many Crain cables . I never realized these were two different Companies, That is what one misses when old. I am sorry I have made negative remarks because the situations were never jiving in my mind.
I loved reading this!
Hope you stay safe out there, sir! Nice read!
Thanks for your service brother. Godspeed
Happy birthday! I turned 73 last week - old Vietnam vet and 22-year SAR dog handler.
Thank you for your service. If they would allow you to repel down on this job, I would have loved seeing you go! Stay safe sir
As a former SAR member who specialized in vertical rope rescue I had so much anxiety watching the free climbing with big drops at multiple times during this episode. Love ya guys, put some ropes on and wear a helmet! Set an example for those younger guys you were with. We want to see your content for years to come.

Yep, walkies, gloves, helmets, safety rope, brass balls still need polish.
Agreed Reed. Whether these guys like it or not, they are role models for the many thousands of ppl who watch their channels. Many young ppl look up to you. Whether you show careless bravado or good sense safety measures could influence how they behave. Each of us has a responsibility to encourage safe responsible behavior. Damn good vid BTW.

The freedom, no bills. I had to totally rely on myself. From there I moved to Seattle lots of concrete, and people packed together too close

If he keeps doing that kinda of stuff, he won’t reach retirement age. I’m a very experienced climber and no way I’d do that, especially on that loose rock.
You guys are so RAD!! You bring joy to this 74 yy lady. Real life heroes!
Unbelievable recovery! Free climbing was edge of the seat to watch but one hell of a risk. Well done to all of the team for pulling the wrecks out

The fact that an Eagle Scout was on Heavy D’s mission accomplished list makes me think he really has helping people at the front of his mind. Good on ya

As a scout we did a couple litter cleanups a year and no one can thank your team enough and congratulations on your achievement of the rank of eagle. That is to be commend as u left your mark on socety. May ur achievements help others no mater how big the task . Again congratulations young man
Dave, thanks for coming down and doing that! We're glad Matt invited you. We live a couple of blocks from the mouth of Three Falls Canyon and have hiked it and played up in there many times. Such a pretty area, but it was always a bit disappointing to have those smashed cars in there. It is so nice to see them gone. We wondered what that big green boom truck was doing up there! Now we know. Much respect regarding the free solo climb. We've done a bit of that on those cliffs, and those rocks are sharp and crumbly. Takes some real skills to do that!
One thing that Heavy D and Matt have in common is they both keep everything in meaningful perspective and both like overcoming the challenges of terrain and developing the right equipment to do their specific line of vehicle removal. Removing those vehicles from the bottom of that cliff is the biggest challenge yet, and turned out to be very meaningful for both of them. What a way to meet one another.
You need some Baofeng radios for com
Hands down best show of all time, no special effects just hard work. Hats off to Dave for scaling that mountain. Tom Cruise has real competition with Dave.
What a display of brute force and power, and "on the fly" engineering! This was the best collaboration I have seen on RUclips bar none! Matt's ego doesn't stand in the way of realizing his limitations. Heavy D did not disappoint! What a pleasure it was to see Heavy D "share the adventure" with Matt, and keep HIS ego in check as well. Much respect to HeavyD and Matt for working together and more importantly, knowing their limitations when they arise. I don’t think either one of these guys would put themselves or their crew in danger just for likes on a video, they are true professionals and deserve all the respect and should serve as an great example of what to do in these situations.

What an Eagle Scout project. As a scout volunteer, kudos to both recovery companies for helping with this “heavy lift.” Dog took a look at the wreckage and had that sad face, knowing that this isn’t a normal situation. Laughing at the calm conversation at the bottom, only to have hurricane force winds at the top.
Speaking from a guy that just had a Lisfranc injury on my right foot with surgery, it freeks me out watching you guys free climb. 1 wrong slip and a broken foot is the least of your worries. I can barely walk to get the mail.... great job by the way !!!!

I climb hand over hand down ten story air shaft down on a rope down town SF but wasn't very smart I ask my boss a Shasta indian who went with me why he ask me to do it he said because your the only crazy enough
Everything about this endeavour was ridiculously unsafe. Rusty cables, winch truck parked precariously close to the edge, no ground anchors or even simple wheel chocks on the winch truck, people standing behind the truck as it's winching, people holding onto the cables (a tensioned steel cable that snaps can easily cut your head off), everyone standing right on the edge peering over, the cables chafing against the rocks, and absolutely no safety equipment in sight. This isn't just amateur, it's downright idiotic. This level of stupidity could easily have cost lives.

I saw someone die doing that. Had me cringing. Please, guys, use ropes, helmets, and gloves, and learn how to use them correctly. I've done a lot of vertical rope work myself. I know the dangers and they took way too many risks.
Scary stuff when you get into this size cable. Makes me nervous as I, as a young teenager, witnessed two men loosing their lives during a high tension block and tackle set up trying to remove a huge tree trunk with a massive root ball on one side. Almost had the tree laying horizontally when the cable snapped and the tree went back up like a catapult. I will not share the details, however, it is etched in my memory forever.
Wow, that must have been horribly traumatic for you, Tim. I often times cringe when I watch these guys sometimes do what they do in a cavalier fashion

Wow.... I was just about to say something similar.
Why bother with wrecks like this when it is deep in the ravine with no humans lost lives. These youngsters who play reckless with cars flying off the deep edges of mountains need to learn to release their energy into something positive.
I would hate to learn that some rescuer looses their life because they have to recover a mangled vehicle which was used to race a car off a hill. That's madness.

The crossover episodes on RUclips are awesome. I started watching Sin City Outdoors because they were covering the Lake Mead drought issues (a subject I've been interested in since reading Cadillac Desert probably 20 years ago) and found Craig's stranded houseboat. HeavyD showed up to save Craig, who ultimately left trash behind and annoyed the Sin City dudes. So watching HeavyD videos ultimately led to the RUclips algorithm suggesting Matt's channel...which led right back to HeavyD.
