Dave, thanks for coming down and doing that! We're glad Matt invited you. We live a couple of blocks from the mouth of Three Falls Canyon and have hiked it and played up in there many times. Such a pretty area, but it was always a bit disappointing to have those smashed cars in there. It is so nice to see them gone. We wondered what that big green boom truck was doing up there! Much respect to HeavyD and Matt for working together and more importantly, knowing their limitations when they arise. I don’t think either one of these guys would put themselves or their crew in danger just for likes on a video, they are true professionals and deserve all the respect and should serve as an great example of what to do in these situations.

One thing that Heavy D and Matt have in common is they both keep everything in meaningful perspective and both like overcoming the challenges of terrain and developing the right equipment to do their specific line of vehicle removal. Removing those vehicles from the bottom of that cliff is the biggest challenge yet, and turned out to be very meaningful for both of them. What a way to meet one another.

I loved Utah till I found out how corrupt there police force is out there, maybe its just the lake powell law enforcement but they still unlawfully arrested and detained me, took 8 months out of my year dealing with there crap and just ended up dropping the case cause they apparently had nothing in the first place...
I saw MORR's video on this earlier today and didn't realize it was an Eagle Scout project! You guys are genuinely good people doing great things! There's a bunch of heavy equipment and recovery RUclips channels out there. The thing that makes you both "S Tier" is your humanity and doing good by folk. Keep up the good work, guys!!
If he keeps doing that kinda of stuff, he won’t reach retirement age. I’m a very experienced climber and no way I’d do that, especially on that loose rock.
I was anxious for them as I saw the wrecker being backed toward the cliff's edge, and I have to say they gained my respect. I haven't seen a better RUclips collab than this in a long time.
Matt teased us this morning with his vid-peek and to see this come out same day literally makes me beyond happy. THE COLLAB WE'VE ALL BEEN WAITING ON!!!!
I knew Heavy D was going to get there as soon as possible. The guy literally considers America his backyard and the trash has to go. Good job 👌 and really great to see you and Matt collab

The fact that an Eagle Scout was on Heavy D’s mission accomplished list makes me think he really has helping people at the front of his mind. Good on ya
I'm a 64-year-old lady I love watching y'all show and I love what you guys doing recovery of them cars in the canyon was great I'm going to keep on watching
Good for you.! Who says this type of stuff is only for guys? Not me. Its great to know that it's interesting and entertaining for all. I think that it's people who make this so watchable. Best wishes from Oxford UK.
One hell of a cooperative effort!!! Honestly, if I wasn't a fan of Matts, I would have missed your site. I've done cliff face rappelling 300-400 feet, but Dude! Free climbing broken rock!!! I'll be back to give you guys another look.
"So, we got a call from the guy who normally get the calls" The collab video i have been waiting for a long time. 2 of my favourite RUclipsrs i've been religiously watching since you guys were both starting. Of course HeavyD goes way back to the 1st episodes of Diesel Brothers but i think i started watching Matt's OffRoad back when they had around 3-4k subs or something. So this was really nice to watch you guys just put a giant smile on my face and made my day! ✌🔥🔥
Out of everything that happened in this video, the thing I least expected was Dave free climbing that huge cliff, that was nuts! Great recovery, awesome to see stuff like that getting cleaned up. 👌
Who else is watching this episode here and also gonna watch the one Matt's offloading does i sure am 👋2 of my favorite RUclips channels coming together it's a good day 👍
Free climbing up that cliff earned my respect, huge balls my friend! Personally I think you are more valuable to the community, from now on, no more crazy stuff please!
i agree. i love these videos but i would hate to see someone get hurt by standing so close to those cables or something. not worth the risk for the content imo
Bravo to the Eagle-to-be for the courage and the boldness to take on an impossible task, and find a way to make it happen by asking experts for help. I bet you packed out a lot of small parts, too. Well done, sir.
Ok, this recovery almost gave me a heart attack!! Dude! Seriously scary seeing that boom that close to the edge of that cliff and Dave, free scaling back up the cliff, don't do that dude!!! 😳 Please, the world needs you. All in in all a super recovery, great collab! Great work.
I climb hand over hand down ten story air shaft down on a rope down town SF but wasn't very smart I ask my boss a Shasta indian who went with me why he ask me to do it he said because your the only crazy enough
Everything about this endeavour was ridiculously unsafe. Rusty cables, winch truck parked precariously close to the edge, no ground anchors or even simple wheel chocks on the winch truck, people standing behind the truck as it's winching, people holding onto the cables (a tensioned steel cable that snaps can easily cut your head off), everyone standing right on the edge peering over, the cables chafing against the rocks, and absolutely no safety equipment in sight. This isn't just amateur, it's downright idiotic. This level of stupidity could easily have cost lives.

Another Eagle Scout here, I can't imagine how he talked about all the safety violations in this video. My Council would've had a field day, with all these guys not even wearing helmets or gloves while they're doing this...
@@ratemisia Oh that is a good point? Maybe he had a relaxed guy? I know my guy was super helpful, even came over to my parents house to review my documentation
It's 5 o'clock in the morning. Coffee is running and I'm about to watch a 50 minute collaboration between Matt's offroad recovery and HeavyD. Can't get any better.
I've been climbing Utah's mountains and cliffs my whole life and I have to say, that free climb on that type of rock was nuts! Stay safe Dave. Looks like someone only watched the first half of 'The Alpinist'🤣.
Great video. Congrats to the Eagle Scout. I was scoutmaster for 7 years and I can imagine the excitement from that young man. Kings to you for a great idea and successful recovery.
This has to be one of the best RUclips recovery videos of all time let alone the fact it’s a collaboration. Awesome job and excellent skill scaling the steep ravine!
To the people who throw the cars off, I am glad this crew stayed safe. Any injuries, or worse, would be on you not the crew. Don’t throw your garbage of the cliffs. Nice safe recovery crew!
@@profhortsunlover1536 with enough practice you become proficient. Professionalism isn't an act or proficiency, it's how you carry yourself (ei. Respecting each other, respecting safety, etc etc) in a work environment. This has become a work environment for them. Albeit being a free service they provide.
Yeah from the get-go I was like "this isn't 'probably' a helicopter job, this IS a helicopter job". This was effectively best possible scenario, save for losing that piece at the end, and it's extremely impressive they were so successful - but a helicopter would've been way cleaner, way faster and way safer. At the same time, I don't imagine it would be cheap at all.
Speaking from a guy that just had a Lisfranc injury on my right foot with surgery, it freeks me out watching you guys free climb. 1 wrong slip and a broken foot is the least of your worries. I can barely walk to get the mail.... great job by the way !!!!
Watching that wrecker being backed downhill to the edge of that cliff made MY sphincter tighten. I can't imagine being the person in the drivers' seat. You guys are fearless!
Just when you think things can't get much gnarlier, every 5 minutes that goes by? ...it got gnarlier. WHAT A FREAKIN AWESOME collaboration! I mean, this vid was good AT THE BEGINNING! when Heavy D rolled into the Winder Towing yard, and it only kept getting better... and better... and better... What an amazing recovery. What a great crew; ALL of you. Each and every one.
YESSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!! I was just thinking about this like 3 days ago and was like man that would be cool as hell if they collab and recovered something🤣 this is insane
I heard you talking about this three days ago. I was like this guy is a genius for like even talking about this. Awesome job talking about this brother.
Gentleman, You have restored my faith in American men and women. You have risked life and limb for the benefit of the young man's Eagle Project. It speaks to your integrity and commitment to raising men of Integrity. This troop will never forget your actions. I am an LDS Eagle Scout. I cannot thank you more for this task. What technical skill you have. Thank you,.
I love these long videos you guys have been uploading. The production quality of this makes it feel more like a tv show than a RUclips video and still be more up close and personal. It’s great how Dave is so humble and yet so rich, it’s refreshing to see that because it seems like most wealthy people aren’t like that. He’s a very unique and helpful person who cares for his community and I applaud him for it.
What you guys have done getting those three cars out of the gully, is really hard work doing the job the hard way. I am from the forestry industry, and I believe you guys could do yourselves a favour by learning about and setting up a skyline and then winching the cars out will be impressive and so much easier on you guys and on your very expensive and impressive equipment. Best wishes.
@@crisnevin7934 Hello, in this case, a simple steel line could have been fixed around a sizable rock at the bottom of the gully that would not move, That cable would go to the top of the cliff, to a fixed anchor, for example, an "A" frame anchored by ground anchors or heavy vehicles, essentially just like a ski lift cable, except it is a single line, not a rotating line. Hanging on this line is a pulley block with a down line attached to the smashed-up cars. The pulley block is controlled by a separate cable, which keeps it in place. A third line lifts the smashed car. The cable controlling the pulley block in then wound in, which pulls the car safely through the air, instead of dragging it against the cliff face, which tears the car apart scattering pieces as it goes, damages your winch line and is at risk of damaging your truck winch, even your truck. If you look up forestry skylines on the internet, you will see diagrams and even a video of a sky-line working. In a forestry environment, skylines can be complex bits of kit, there are also simpler models such as farmers use in the French Alps. However, with a little know-how, a simple setup can be put in place. Otherwise, if you have the cash and the need, buy a professional sky-line. by winding in the Pulley-block
@@Mindmanual1 that's a good idea. I kinda thought that's what you meant, but I wasn't sure. I was thinking you meant stretch a line across the canyon and use a block and tackle system on a trolly lol. I thought that might be a bit too far to go though. It never occurred to me to go from the bottom to the top that way. I guess you wouldn't even have to go all the way to the bottom either.
@@crisnevin7934 Hello Cris, that is right, as you all do so often - be flixible. Power to your elbow, my friend. Since I reached a point in my life of being that little bit wiser, it took me seventy years to get there, I now look back to see how in so many cases I really did not know that I didn't know what I was doing. Like you with those three cars, I struggled through and succeeded, but I really did make my life hard work. If you do not need a permanent professional skyline, ask yourself what you have that can be adapted, that will be flexible and do the same job. Best wishes for your future. Robert Denton
Missed opportunity "In the words of another RUclipsr - So, we got a call..." - Epic video regardless, great to see you work together on this - two completely different styles of recovery teams with generally totally different recovery challenges achieving the extremely difficult.
Super happy to see you support an Eagle Scout out! Being one myself as well as knowing you are gives me even more respect for you and all you do. But.... some of that footage leaning over the cliff made me feel more afraid of heights than I am when I'm on a fully extended boom lift. Crazy how you pulled them up at the end and awesome ya'll got as much as ya did in 1 day. Take care and look forward to your next video!
You need to look at the extreme tornado trucks for "parking brake" ideas - angled hydraulic cylinders ending in spikes that dig into the ground. It would be a good addition for when you have ground you can spike into.
Hey Dave! Since the parking brakes suck, make up some winching wheel chocks. It's a wheelchock that's chained into the winch truck, and helps lock it into place. Also new wrecker trucks are coming with line locks to lock every axle!
What an Eagle Scout project. As a scout volunteer, kudos to both recovery companies for helping with this “heavy lift.” Dog took a look at the wreckage and had that sad face, knowing that this isn’t a normal situation. Laughing at the calm conversation at the bottom, only to have hurricane force winds at the top.
Scary stuff when you get into this size cable. Makes me nervous as I, as a young teenager, witnessed two men loosing their lives during a high tension block and tackle set up trying to remove a huge tree trunk with a massive root ball on one side. Almost had the tree laying horizontally when the cable snapped and the tree went back up like a catapult. I will not share the details, however, it is etched in my memory forever.
Wow.... I was just about to say something similar. Why bother with wrecks like this when it is deep in the ravine with no humans lost lives. These youngsters who play reckless with cars flying off the deep edges of mountains need to learn to release their energy into something positive. I would hate to learn that some rescuer looses their life because they have to recover a mangled vehicle which was used to race a car off a hill. That's madness. Sorry to hear you lost friends in a rescue effort.
Had more anxiety/suspense watching this than I ever have watching any horror/thriller! Glad to have seen two of our favorites get into it together and share the fun with us too! Love y’all!
The companies and the people in Utah have a great working together community. It’s great to see the different levels of expertise and equipment working as one. A credit to each person.
Yes, I remember Matt-he was helping people who got stuck in the mud some sand at Lake Mead with the yellow 4×4....I'm pretty sure it was him & son. WOW impressive Y'all are awesome helping out 👏👏👏👏KUDOS TO Y'ALL 💯💯💯🤗
That's gotta be one of the coolest, more difficult Eagle Projects I've ever seen. Congratulations Tim for persevering through a daunting project. From one Eagle to another, I have no doubt you will make a fine Eagle Scout!
As impressive as this was, it pales in comparison to Dave “Spiderman” Sparks free climbing the cliff!!! You my friend, have earned the Boy Scouts rarely awarded (& secret), “Testosterone Merit Badge”!!!!!!!!

This video showed how team work is important and everyone working together was a great thing. They got the job done by everyone working together. I respect how it is a family business for everyone I am looking forward to more videos of them working together
This was one of my favorite recoverys. Hooking all the trucks together was what I was hoping you were gonna do. It brought out the innermost child in me to my off road days pulling stuck trucks out. Great job everyone.
It was good seeing y’all working together rather fighting over who’s ego was the biggest. Y’all worked together like y’all had done it a thousand times before. Again thanks for y’all’s videos and how family friendly they are.
I LOVE this collaboration! Epic cinematography, very well done and well edited documentary style film! What an incredible thing you all did to help that young man reach his accomplishment. Thank you for your willingness to help and your kindness.
I actually wanted to hear what they were talking about when they were discussing what parts they might want to use and all that at the beginning. It helps me learn more about what they do and how. I’d love to learn more about everything. Maybe they could post unedited versions of the videos they do and other video footage that they might not use on a second RUclips channel
Just watch MORR, they have frequent updates on the progress of the wrecker build. I'm sure Matt will put the unedited version in one of the updates when the time is right to reveal it.
Both of your teams are amazing. When I hear the term Red Neck - I can't think more of a great example of practical knowledge, ingenuity, and positivity from your examples - a true compliment. Brilliant work!

What a great collaboration 👏! Gotta say, even sitting here in my chair in Iowa, I got very nervous about you guys and the truck being so close to the edge of that cliff. Especially with lightning in the near distance!! You all deserve medals for this job. ❤
Wow guys this was amazing. In Australia you’d have OH&S (occupational health and safety) chasing you with a big big stick though. I’m glad nobody got hurt.
Yeahhhh We have OSHA but they don't really care about private small businesses unless someone was to report them. They saw the risk and did the job any way.
I have watched a lot of your stuff and I love that you help people when you can. The boat on lake Mead was cool, and the airplane made me cry. I live close to his hometown. This was the clean-up crew for a mess no one else could take care of. Great teamwork and the vision for the project started with an eagle scout. Good deeds done daily.
Thanks to HeavyD & Matt, I got to watch this freakishly dangerous recovery on my dayoff. I felt so pumped after that I almost walked back to the office. I enjoy watching you guys from Kenya.
My first thought is that for this type of recovery the cables are too heavy and too short while the winches are very slow. In my opinion, the ideal would be to use a capstan winch with one long strand of synthetic rope through a snatch block or pulley on the boom. Unfortunately, nobody seems to run Capstan Winches anymore. My second thought was that a Logging Yarder would be an ideal piece of equipment for this job. You have to run a skyline from a fixed position and then the mainline can lower a dropline from the carriage. Unfortunately, there are no great trees to anchor the Skyline and probably not too many logging companies in the area to borrow the equipment.
Amazing collaboration! Certainly lived up to the Sparks name with the huge sparks flying of the vehicles as you pulled them out. Matt's Off Road Recovery does it like no one else when it comes to using the kenestic rope to pull vehicles, etc out of sticky situations. Great job to all!

Free climbing that cliff was absolutely insane!!! You have some huge cojones doing that is all I can say. Had me on the edge of my seat.

Was praying no rock let loose.
I have more to live for than that, and I'm poor.
I was a but anxious about dave free climbing that cliff lol

The collab video i have been waiting for a long time.
I agree, must say it was irresponsible of Dave, the family farther and husband.
Unbelievable recovery! Free climbing was edge of the seat to watch but one hell of a risk. Well done to all of the team for pulling the wrecks out

Ok, this recovery almost gave me a heart attack!! Dude! Seriously scary seeing that boom that close to the edge of that cliff and Dave, free scaling back up the cliff, don't do that dude!!! 😳 Please, the world needs you.

Not to tell you your business, but you should of had Lizzy behind the wheel of those recoveries. Just saying, always seems to work better.

What do you mean a "skyline"?
@@crisnevin7934 probably means a mobile crane. Or, the crane that builds tall buildings with a cabin on the top. Don't know for sure.

Those would work in most situations, except not on solid rock like that
If DSparks watched TrailMater he would know to chain his wheels off the the chassis.
Looked extremely sketchy, once the big one rolls, everything tied to it would have rolled with it.
The editor/ maker of this video definitely needs a trophy. And severely needs to be recognized and a credited for.
I especially liked the old dial-up sound for the two phone calls.
Same for the guys behind the camera. Great shots😃
The most anxiety inducing editing I've ever seen, a cinematic masterclass

Wow, that must have been horribly traumatic for you, Tim. I often times cringe when I watch these guys sometimes do what they do in a cavalier fashion
It's like highlead logging under a 90 foot tower uphill never know whats coming back down at you

DAVE has alot of faith in those air breaks backing up to that cliff...dosent even have the door open to bail if they do ... LEGEND!!!!
