I do a lot of water recovery here on Galveston Island, just wanted to give you a little bit of advice. Use your boom to break suction not the cables. This will almost always cause severe damage to your equipment the way you pulled on it. I use to apply my recovery skills in Iraq to. I've pulled 80k armored mraps out of mud with a 2 ton C5500 twin line Vulcan. The boom is better for breaking suction all the time. Just food for thought. Love everything you guys do. Be safe and keep the great content coming.
I have a winch on my atv but found that picking up on it breaks the suction
They break shit for views
@@philipparana9225 okay and it’s his money and equipment at the end of the day
Using the boom for recoveries other than a rollover is actually banned per regulations in the US military. The boom on any military recovery asset except the m88 is not authorized to be used for winching because of people overloading them but also the US military doesn’t use a wrecker built onto a HET. Mire level accounts for suction resistance by doubling or tripling vehicle weight requiring more mechanical advantage before winching and winching is only to be done at specific angles. I’ve seen an lhs with trailer down to the cab requiring snatch blocks to be borrowed from other wreckers and the stiff legs almost snapping. I don’t have an issue with the idea of using a boom if it’s not exceeding the mast limits witch unfortunately isn’t much at all when it’s not a vertical pull and I trained my recovery section on the creative methods but my point is know you’re equipments limits and how to work to them them. I did have a 3 wrecker recovery to lift a fueler back onto a bridge so I’ve seen the booms get used way past their capacity and work though
It would have rolled right over if you cut off those outriggers on the bottom side
Those shots of you guys heading across the area was modern dayish mad max look, with the music as well one of the best yet. Kudos to the filmmakers and editors.
Agreed, that’s some great drone work.
I thought the same thing!
Awesome video. My thoughts exactly @Trevor Taylor.
Agreed, epic shot and music heading to the wreck. Production and editing keep getting better!
My thoughts exactly
I did heavy recovery in the army and I loved. Love watching you guys work as a team. You guys works so well together
The knowledge you gain by breaking stuff is invaluable, enjoyed 👀 watching
Watching this with my 10 year old step son on the tv. And he tells me “ I want to be like them. When something breaks I want to just laugh” that’s gold for me!
Fake scam don't reply
A trick when rolling something over, especially when it’s lopsided like that old crane: attach the pulling line anchor to the bottom of the vehicle that’s laying on the ground opposite the tow rig, and run it up and over. This wraps the vehicle with the recovery line and rolls it over, keeping the leverage of the tow rig consistent and helps lift the vehicle, using the wreck as it’s own lever. A drawing would help illustrate how it works, but can’t do that here. That’s how I was taught years ago when I pulled my first recovery back on its wheels.

Again, thanks for warning folks, Mark... I was ropable they ripped off an elderly lady! Makes me SICK.
That was intense reality. I'm a former trucker and this was a hell of a job. Great work. The average person does not even begin to realize how monumental and dangerous the work is so I hope you get millions of subs. I am so glad no one got hurt on this pull out.
yes it was pretty reckless
For views they will destroy own equipment. This not right procedure to break suction.
Yes its very dangerous when you have like 50IQ like those guys there
I love your determination and ingenuity and your willingness to help in so many ways. You all are inspiring keep it up I love everything you’re doing.
I participated in many knarly recoveries in Afghanistan with the HEMMT wrecker, an M914 tractor, and a lowboy. My guys had also used the M88 tracked wrecker in Iraq, which I only witnessed in training...what a beast. That HETS wrecker conversion looks mean! I know you're making content, but your safety seems to seriously be lacking at time. Love watching you guys and all the good you're doing, just don't get hurt.

"don't get hurt." HAVE YOU LOST YOUR HEAD!!!!!! Guess what. No Injury = No Recovery. Besides; the sooner one suffers a few Decapitations, the sooner one is Immune. Try it, at Home!!!!!
Guess what. Imagine tour Head, with your Tongue hanging out, in place of the Eyelet. You would forever be known, as, "The Late Salt Lick." (Because you would be Dead, moist Lickly.) If whoever saw your Head go flying was a "Jehovah's Witness", they would be known, as, "A Tow Truck Witness," the same way whoever reads this Thread just witnessed your "Don't get hurt" nonsense being taken, with a Grain of Salt.

I love what you guys do and the fun you guys have, sadly I would probably never experience the type of things you guys do but through the videos I feel as though I am part of the crew! I love how you do not whine about stuff you just take care of what needs to be taken care of, love your content.
I like how this channel is so out of my usual interests, yet I still enjoy watching it. Shows that big, cool machines transcend all arbitrary differences.
but no common sense. They break stuff for the camera. Steel wire rope is not made to do the things they do. Neither is the rest of the equipment they use.

Can’t wait to see the 2nd video to this!! Take care & Thank you for taking us along !!!
I want to thank you for the relief of the pent up anger and anxiety from work I feel everyday, I enjoy watching the antics you guy get into on everyone of your adventures. It provides a mind scape and it is appreciated.
Way cool 1/2 recovery just waiting for part 2 now. Love the lake and the islands, lots of history/historically things out there. Sad to see the lake receding as much as it has. Another great vid. Would love to run into you and your crew out there or even in the west desert sometime. 🇺🇸
A trick I learned is place a burlap sack over joints, if they brake the burlap absorbs part of shock and keeps parts from flying. We used kinetic ropes to pull out combines stuck to axle depths. Just some past experience.
Fake scam don't reply ,it's not Heavy D, FYI
Brake: reduce speed. Break: fail or cease to function.
The cinematic sequence, starting with the drone footage and ending with Razor/Handheld, OH MY GOD how beautiful it was! The drone really, really, brought something extra special together with the wheelieing mean green towing machine!
THIS NEW GENERATION AMAZES ME EVERYTIME I WATCH THESE RECOVERYS,YOU NEVER USE YOUR TRUCK TO PULL OR JERK A LOAD,WINCH ONLY,UNBELIEVABLE
Good work on the clean up, thank you for bringing us along.
So they have wrecker classes in case you wanna learn how to recover stuff. Also when doing a recovery like this, using outriggers is key to keeping your equipment safe
First time? These guys specialize in recovering weird hard to get stuff!
Totally agree with you, why the snatch like that, no wonder things break.
@@williamharley7452 sure lol
I'm thinking maybe a little digging to remove the very HEAVY wet sand would have helped.
Oops-a-daisys make good viewing....
I so love your Ad reads, they are some of the best on youtube. As for breaking your equipment. What I saw was totally awesome, not that the crane broke but how it broke. It broke in a controlled fashion which is what you need to be safe. We rely on things breaking at controlled points so you do not have excessive forces been placed on complonents. It is like a circuit breaker in your house to cut power. The bolts on the frame gave way first before something else more important.
Wow. You all have the best lives one could ever wish for. To just have fun and be. Thank you for the pallet auction knowledge as well. And that mountain top compound??? Woah. So happy to see you put him on your team. You rock brother. Keep being you.

Makes all our recoveries look simple for my night job running a wheel lift and flat bed for my father in law in ventura, California. The tires on the HET are like the same size on the 200 ton traveling I run at ventura harbor boat yard during my day job. Your videos are awesome man! It's great having something great to watch while waiting for a job. Thanks you guys, you all do a great job!

Awesome video as usual. Caught myself saying “whoop” when y’all were driving out and it was getting soft under the tires. Here’s an idea for your next heavy recovery across the lake bed. Grab you a couple of old car hoods and put them under whatever you’re dragging and use them like skids.
Haha, you said what I was getting ready to comment, use car hoods it should slide a good bit better:-)
I used old car hoods as a kid sliding down hills.
@@johnt.848
Me too!😂 we had one to pull behind the snowmobile. Brakes sure would have been a good thing!
All that weight would likely just crumple a car hood. You are definitely on the right track though. But these skids would need to be made of plate steel to properly distribute all that weight without just turning into a tin can...
exactly
Your videos are incredible! Thank you for all the entertainment and amazing things you guys do! Your video editing and end result is A+

@@bradleymorris8875 what's that supposed to mean?
you need to start running a mini digger out to jobs on a LGP truck, every problem you ever have is down to buried stuff and not digging it out
;)
I second that suggestion, You need to dig as much of the sand and mud out of the rig to have a small change of moving it.
That's a great point those little things have alot of pulling power as well
Dave needs to find and restore a truckhoe.
KsoososooskoskkLlslozkslsos
They have used a mini digger on previous jobs. Maybe this lake bed was too soft to drive it there - that's why they didn't bring the big truck with trailer, but rather drove the HET there. Would have made it easier if they flipped it over 1st.
Hello HeavyDSparks, I like your channel on the recovery of heavy equipment. It's something I'd like to do but I can't due to being disabled. Now, I probably could help a little like driving just don't have my CDL.. It would be my second dream come true if I had it because my father drove a semi for over 35 yrs and my youngest brother drives. I've always wanted to drive but I just never tried to get my CDL. I didn't think I was smart enough to get it. Working for you, helping with recoveries and driving be another dream come true. Anyways just thought since I'm watching your utube channel I'd drop in and say "Hello" to your family. Thank you for the great shows on utube. Keep them coming!!
Man I would love to work for this guy, he seems so laid back, and down to earth. Every day would be a new adventure never knowing what your going to get yourself into. Sadly I've no knowledge of heavy equipment, and am an old timer.
Please keep making the videos, I find them highly entertaining.
WTH is this ???

I love that you make mistakes and admit it. You figure out 'how not to use it' for next time. New equipment, some growing pains, and sometimes under estimating the challenge. But you roll with it and you surmount it anyways. That's what I watch your videos for. It's criminal your not at 5mil subs let a lone 2!

I've been a coded welder(lorries, bridges, tanks etc etc) for over 15 years & I've never seen a Truck bed shear off like that!
But that's down to the bolts & that's better than welds braking= it did it's job! Ultra cool!
I’m almost wondering if they got ahold of some the cheap Chinese bolts that are miss graded that have been going around more and more last few years
I'm wondering why they did the maneuver that broke the bolts in the first place. The machine will tellnyou your doing it wrong way before this happens.

YOUR NUTS BROTHER FOR CONTINUING TO USE THE WRECKER BOOM THE WAY YOU DID AFTER ALMOST RIPPING IT OFF THE TRUCK! 😲 AWSOME VIDEOS! I LOVE WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT YOU STAND FOR BROTHER. CAN WAIT TO SEE THE REST OF THIS RECOVERY. 🙂💖
Pretty hard recovery, glad it worked out. Maybe some equipment to make down the road, have a set of 1/4" or 1/2" metal slider pans, just for stuff that could easily slide across dirt, rock, or even as this situation, salt flats. Same design as a set of skis does in the snow, strapped or chained to the wheel or an axle. Would of worked great at 28:15.
Way easier to get it back to the road, than putting all that stress on the equipment, while it was digging into the salt bed.
Keep up the good work everyone.
Good Idea. I've used an old car hood to drag a vehicle with busted suspension out of a bad area then even onto a trailer once we reached accessible roadway. They were also dragging the 15,000 lb counter weighted end, with that flat steel body plate, through the sand acting like a dozer blade pushing earth, until they lifted it a little with the broken boom. Then they made some time... Good Footage
I just want to say that whoever put this video together did a great job. The Sean Magwire song really got me invested in this video. Excellent video production. Give that guy a raise.

That ring flying is a perfect example of why "twice the length of (chain, cable, rope)" is the "minimum " safe distance as training goes in recovery schools.
And why snatch blocks and proper rigging is important. I STILL carry my recovery rigging card!
Better advice would be don't be in front or behind the cable when pulling. A rope twice as long would just mean half the distance the ring would have traveled. The fact is no amount of caution would eliminate the risk. It may slightly reduce it. A good example is airbags while they do reduce injuries and death we have noticed defective airbags have caused deaths and injuries. I remember one day leaving my work in a factory and the safety team had put up a sign that said All accidents are preventable. I said to myself that is not possible because you cannot control what other people do and some equipment fails. The sign was removed a couple weeks later.
