@@MusicTheoryforGamers I dunno if anyone said it when you got to Riki's theme, but Heropon is just like it sounds. Two words put together (Hero & pon). Many characters like Riki refer to others as "friends" or if it's a family out they'll say something like for example: Dadapon, or Mamapon.

This game means so much to me and I'm so excited to see you react to this! When you get to the daytime and nighttime tracks, I guarantee they will be incredible.
Fun fact: For being one of the best songs on the OST, “unfinished business” plays in a grand total of ONE CUTSCENE. It does not loop once it plays through, and never appears again in the entire game.
It's incredible to me that things like Unfinished Business can stand so well on their own while still leaving ample room for some amazing voice performances on top. The cutscenes absolutely live up to the music.
The main theme makes me cry and I hardly know why. No idea if it's the instrumental or having played the game and knowing what it's representative of...but it's such an amazing piece
Probably a twofold result of it being the main theme of this grand adventure, reflected in the music itself, as well as the singular cutscene in which it plays
@@DragonEdge10 if certain theories about Xenoblade 3 are true, it would be the ultimate callback if they craft a scene so well done, that they bring back this song, and it fits like a glove.
Each Xenoblade game is a masterpiece in giving you the mood and theme of somber and mysterious in its own way with the title theme. It immediately tells you, “Hey, this is gonna be a train ride with this emotion in mind. Get ready.” It floods your soul with righteous piano and/or violin. It’s honestly overwhelming in a good way. The OSTs are like a drug, you will convert.
Glad to see that this amazing OST is going to be on the channel and right before Xenoblade Chronicles 3 comes out, great timing. This is a stream of the Definitive Edition, but the original tracks are definitely worth a listen too.
I heavily disagree. Given the size of this soundtrack and the very few differences between this and the old soundtrack, it would honestly be a waste of a stream. 99% of the DE versions are straight up better, higher audio quality version of the originals, so there really is no point in going back now. Kind of why it’s called the “definitive” edition.
@@Tohlemiach I didn’t necessarily mean to check out the whole original OST on stream, Dan could just listen to some off stream. I'm so glad you're doing this and I hope there's a part 2! The first half of the soundtrack is mostly cutscene music and the latter half is the area themes and those are God-tier.
For 14:10 Everyday Life, I love this song so much! It has the light pitter patter of the hand drums going back and forth, like the small feet of the village kids playing. The slow meandering melody showing how slow your feet are going right now, because you've no where to hurry, along with the methodical up and down notes with simple rhythms to show how your life may have ups and downs but in the end it's pretty simple and predictable. Such a lovely track that really shows how ideal this life is for the main characters and how much it means to them, and really sets up for the major plot events when it is taken away, and they fight to bring it back. I'm not much for music theory but I love analyzing the emotions and feelings certain songs give me and what this song can mean without any words, just the emotion it invokes. I love watching you because you discuss a lot of the music theory but also showing your emotions too so I can start putting official names to feelings I've been having with these songs. You're awesome and I love what you do!
Xenoblade is one of my favorite series, can't wait for you to hear some of the field themes. This ost is truly incredible. Would love to get some Trails reactions from ya, mainly the Sky trilogy and Zero/Azure.
6:30 - I especially like the part of this BGM where the series of five or six notes comes in hard. It almost has a Terminator vibe to it, and given what you're fighting against for most of the game, it's fitting.
Hey Dan, I highly, highly, recommend you save disc 2 for last as it has all of the final themes of the game including the final boss and ending theme. The tracks on disc 3 make a lot more sense to come next. Also, I'm so glad you're enjoying my favorite video game OST so much! I'm looking forward to see you cover even more of my favorites.
I'm a bit late, but to clarify the XCX vs XC2 situation: XCX would be next, but it makes sense to continue with XC2. XCX released on WiiU as the first sequel to Xenoblade Chronicles. It was basically a completely different game in terms of story, setting and style (including the soundtrack), only using the gameplay of XC1 as a basis. This unsurprisingly lead to a mixed reception. When XC2 was announced for the Switch, it's title alone was a clear statement. It was supposed to be a return to form after the deviation that was XCX. These days, XCX is effectively considered a spinoff, despite being a gigantic openworld JRPG (and a great one at that). Similarly, the music of XCX is not what typically comes to mind when somebody mentions the Xenoblade soundtrack. But despite it's differences, it's amazing in it's own right.
The XCX soundtrack is a complete banger. I still prefer the XC2 soundtrack over it, but might like XCX more than XC1. It's close though. I love all the lyrical songs they had in XCX

Something to keep of note for later. For the OST of the original Xenoblade, the track called Tragic Decision on the OST is not the full version. It's such an amazing track too in an already amazing soundtrack. I'm not so sure about the OST for the DE version though. Either way... they made such a tragic decision regarding that...

Regardless, really really hoping you enjoy the rest of the music Dan!

Looks like A) you're going a disc an episode and B) the DE soundtrack is organized the same as the original, so these first two episodes are going to be the story/cutscene and boss songs, and the last two are going to be the area themes and non-boss fight themes.
Damn, whoever arranged the track order for the soundtrack should get fired. They skipped any and all area music for this first disk, which means all you’re getting right now are cutscene tracks, which imo are the weakest tracks on the entire soundtrack (with a few notable exceptions). They really should have arranged this in order of game progression like a lot of official soundtracks do. Ah well, all it means is that eventually we’ll get an entire stream of just all field music, which is gonna be glorious.
I'm curious, has something changed with the way songs are added? Seeing that both Chrono Trigger and Mother 1 were added when one ost has been played, it does seem a bit likely that some osts might just stay in there forever since they have a very hard time getting voted for.

I'd love for him to play the game and EXPERIENCE the soundtrack.
Hey another JRPG with great music I would love to see you do would be Kingdom Hearts. It also has great music.

Oh it will, belive me it will
We need sum Dark Souls 3! Those songs are INSANELY good :) with dlc ofcourse
agree
Damn, whoever arranged the track order for the soundtrack should get fired. They skipped any and all area music for this first disk, which means all you’re getting right now are cutscene tracks, which imo are the weakest tracks on the entire soundtrack (with a few notable exceptions). They really should have arranged this in order of game progression like a lot of official soundtracks do.
Ah well, all it means is that eventually we’ll get an entire stream of just all field music, which is gonna be glorious.
The only weakness of the OST 😅
Field music interspersed with some early battle tracks.
This is the order of the official OST, oddly enough. Definitely wish it was handled better, but here we are.
Please do Xenoblade Chronicles 2 aswell
Brilliant video, I would love to watch you react to the Attack on Titan ost someday. There are some legendary tracks in there!
If he hasn’t he should do a Chrono trigger ost reaction
You should do a video on Street Fighter 3:Third Strike ost. Probably the best fighting game soundtrack
Oh hell yeah! The best soundtrack ever created.
you will love the metal gear rising soundtrack
Hi! Will you also listen to Xenoblade 2 OST in the future?
yes!
im curious does this guy have twitch for gaming, i heard him ask if we would like that in a previous vid
You should take a look at the noita ost
I'm curious, has something changed with the way songs are added? Seeing that both Chrono Trigger and Mother 1 were added when one ost has been played, it does seem a bit likely that some osts might just stay in there forever since they have a very hard time getting voted for.
Every quarter we round up the poll and start again as we have done in the past, no change : )
1:07:43 Ah yes, if it isn't the world's most criminally underused song.
