Hymns aren’t usually categorised by the chord progressions - a “hymn” in Christian music can be used just to refer to the text, with the melody (and harmony) being the “tune”, and they’re then characterised by the meter, often using a numerical code, and you can sing any hymn to any tune with a matching meter. For example, Old 100th is 8.8.8.8 (so four lines with eight syllables each), and often used for All People That On Earth Do Dwell and Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow - but you can also sing these to Tallis’ Canon just as well (which I have mostly used for I believe Now Let Us From This Table Rise).

@marcsullivan7987 Yes, because chord progressions are scary. No?
This is the premium quality content I open RUclips for. ❤
The Killers over Shut Up and Dance has real punk vibes
8:25 Yes! It always bothers me when someone has transposed stems for a mashup but clearly didn't check which key sounds best to the ear.
Phil Collins-Sussudio and Prince-1999. Machinehead- Aesthetics of hate, Slayer-Repentless.
Make a whole version of the vocals of I Still Haven’t Found What I’m Looking For and the instrumental of Black or White. It had no business being that level of fire.
PLEASE.
I also loved the opposite. The first one legit sounded like something U2 would've done in the 90s, the 2nd just sounded unreasonably good.
Metalheads at @1:22: Oh, Critical Acclaim by Avenged Sevenfol
Amazing lmao

Came here to say this
I thought What's Up by 4 Non-Blondes by and Red Wine Supernova by Chappel Roan were gonna be illustrated here: They're even in the same key, A mejor!
The U2 song is actually improved with the MJ backing track.
I always found the U2 song to be missing something,
And annoying. But that that was its uniqueness and matched its lyrics. So I’m torn
Altering U2 songs usually does improve them. So does not hearing them at all...
Oh sorry, was that mic live? 😁
I far prefer U2's backing track.
MJ's vocals were amazing over it🏆
Hahaha some of these mash ups are hilarious, there’s truly a vibe going on. Thanks for your videos, I’ve never been good at understanding music technically or academically and I love how you explain things, I find it very accessible. No hate to my old music teacher in school, though, he had enough to deal with 😂
😀😀
I love the way these videos really create perspective and context for song writers.
I love these kind of concept because i often wonder about these, but i don't have the ability to do the "mashups" myself, thanks !
Glad you like them!

Es una pregunta.saludos.

Fascinating!
I loved the Jackson/U2 mashup! It sounded amazing!
You are a MAD SCIENTIST. Need more of this.
Whilst not an absolute chord match, Rock This Town (Stray Cats) and Fat Bottomed Girls (Queen) go surprisingly well together. When tempo matching you'd have to treat Queen as half the speed of the Stray Cats song. Used to throw in the odd cheeky Queen verse when I played this.
1:23 Sounds like the song Like a prayer by Madonna
Who
I love using the principles you highlighted in this video to make acoustic guitar mashups and remixes of my own songs.
You played Mr Brightside at weddings? That's a brave move.
For alt rock that’s probably the most common track I play at weddings!
I didn't even notice the chord progression for In the air tonight being the same as My heart will go on in the past. This is amazing
Here's a group of *3* that fit together nicely: (common progression is Cm Fm G7 Fm)
Smooth- Santana/Rob Thomas (Matchbox 20)
Havana- Camila Cabello
We Don't Talk About Bruno- Lin-Manuel Miranda
Pairwise mashup videos already exist!
Marianne Faithful’s Why’d Ya Do It with Run DMC’s It’s Tricky, works both ways, surprisingly well providing you match your bars properly.
Brilliant!
Thanks 😊
Every new song created was mind blowing. Unbelievable! What an ear. Thanks.
