I have a c6 coupe and the ease of pushing a button instead of screwing around to take the top off and on would be well worth the money and #2 would definitely saving the trunk space…beautiful car…my favorite color!
Coupe for me. I love my transparent top, you can't get the glass roof on the convertible and I can still remove it for really nice days. In the winter or on rainy days the convertible just looks like a hardtop from the inside. Nothing beats sitting in a car with a transparent targa top and just watching the rainfall on the roof. Being able to see that awesome engine bay is a bonus.
To each his own, but I agree. This is my eighth Vette and all but my first one were convertibles. Power tops make them that much more attractive. Also agree the C8 in the HTC configuration looks much better, especially if you accentuate it with different color top & nacelles. No, I can’t see the engine, but. I didn’t stare at the engine on my previous Corvettes either. Finally, for those who have coupes and say they seldom take the top out anyway - trust me, if you had a convertible and you only had to push a button - you would absolutely look forward to putting the top down every chance you get! Woohoo!
I have a C8 HTC 3LT Z51 and you're 100% on taking down the top every chance you get. its blissful. to just look up at the night sky like you're in the country and look back down to your supercar interior. It's really a wonderful thing.
Convertible is the way to go. Who wants to keep the engine bay clean? Also you don’t loose your trunks pace. Will take the top off a lot more with the HTC.
Nice video, I get the cool look of the engine bay from the coupe but if I was to get one , I would get the convertible also. Looks so bad ass and high end in my opinion.

I placed my order two years ago and my C8 just arrived but I must be honest it was worth every year and every minute I waited. Believe the hype, the Corvette Stingray, C8 Coupe is the real deal. This is the biggest No-Brainer. Push a button and have an open cockpit versus looking at the engine occasionally. No contest! Saw the HTC and there was no question, 2022 HTC 2LT Z51 Loaded, Red Mist Black stripes, Vossen HF-5 wheels. My only issue do I ride the Harley or drop the top!!!
Not worth it for me because the targa offers plenty of open air for my taste and I also like the styling of the coupe more from the rear(though I admit crom the side view the HTC looks better) and the glass where you can view the engine from inside and outside the car. Plus I can use those savings on some tasteful mods. But to each their own!

I miss spoke, I do these in one take and I think by looking at me most people can probably tell that I am not a crackhead, and that I would never pull over in the pouring rain to take the top off so the interior can get soaked. I’m currently ordering a rapid blue 2LT and I’m in between getting the convertible or the coupe. I got mag ride, performance exhaust, body colored accents, stealth interior with black gt1 seats, trident spoke black wheels and black exhaust tips. In the coupe this is 78,800 total @msrp, not sure if i want to go up to 85000 for the convertible, Tuesday is my last day to add anything to my build. Super excited, how do you like your blue interior? I considered it but didn’t want to pay extra for 3LT. I’m still on the fence on convertible but idk yet
Yeah, I totally get it. I changed my build quite a few times. It’s annoying because in 2022 you can get the two tone tension blue seats on the 2LT, but for whatever reason they changed it. You have to think what’s more important to you. The overall interior of the car will definitely look better with the 3LT Trim. However, if you go with the 2LT WITH THE GT 1 seats, he will save some money and be a little bit more comfortable.
I love the red corvette emblem on the back and the Stingray R appearance package. A hint of red speckled here and there is what I would do. If I could afford it. It’s beautiful.

You CAN see the clear engine cover on the HTC... just put the unit in "service mode." Click on the Unlock button, two times, then click on the Top Down to remove the engine cover (and the hard top remains closed over the cockpit)!

I talked to the GM guys and did ask them why they didn't make the convertible top transparent. They had a poker face. They could have done a Saratoga glass top, but meh.. I probably was talking to folks who don't give a shit about design and just want to get along their job and be done with the day. The extra 8 gran makes sense very much where I stay. It can rain anytime in the Pacific NorthWest.

We have owned a number of Corvettes - and are waiting for our 2024 order (that MIGHT end up being a 2025 at this rate). The reason we are staying with the coupe is we make 1-3 month trips across the USA and Canada and need all the luggage space possible. Previously we didn't just take clothing but camping gear (in case you couldn't get lodging or wanted to stay in remote area). Now, with the mid-engine design we are going to have to forgo the camping gear and can no longer reach back to grab a drink from the cooler. Otherwise, I would LOVE the convertible because it is just too much trouble to remove our top and NO PLACE to put it if we are going cross county packed full. Because of how we use our Corvette, we wish they had added the adaptive cruise control to the 2024 or 2025 Stingray. : (

Very good question. I had to make about 12 different phone calls just to find a dealer that would guarantee that I only pay MSRP. The only way to do this is to custom build it yourself top to bottom so that way you were getting exactly what you want. Unfortunately, when there are Corvettes that are on the lot, they are going to charge above MSRP. Just take some time and make a lot of phone calls and find a reputable dealer that guarantees that they will not charge you above MSRP and they will let you custom build it. I have not checked how long the waiting list star for almost a year now, but just do your homework and make a lot of calls and see who has the shortest list. Good luck, I hope you get one sooner than later.
If you like having the top down at all, then HTC is worth it. Plus you don't have to clean the engine bay all the time. I know they say the engine bay gets dirty pretty fast.

Been rained on before had to get professionally cleaned and dried in an 89 5.0 mustang 4 times already do you are right about all the scenarios but from experience and being 54 now I’m more mature minded and need to hide more from the heat of the Flory Sun so I won’t let this happen anymore. It’s coupe for me
Never liked convertibles until this corvette, hell, never really cared or liked corvettes until this one. Think for the first time ever, a convertible looks sharper than the coupe. Also what I noticed when looking at coupes, once you get past looking that the engine cover (which imo is kinda lame to look at anyways) only other thing you'll notice is a little bit of the exhaust with huge sensors on both sides. Only reason to really get the coupe outside of price, is weight if you're mainly going to be tracking it. Otherwise, the convertible adds 130 pounds, and still track capable all day
Forsure I did not mind the t top before buying my convertible 328i and I saw a new Vette parking ,next thing you know he got out and opened the back and reinstalled it, it seriously looked cheap while he was doing it
I just bought the 23 70th anniversary edition L3 convertible in the rapid blue. Super love. You definitely need the clear engine cover with the carbon engine cover it looks awesome. You can while parked or at a show put in service mode truck opens by itself to see the engine. I also just did the vertical doors and wing, looks 👍
How about the fact that you still have a trunk when top is down. Or on a road trip with bags in trunk you have no place to put the removable top. Thanks.
Coupe looks better when tops are up. HTC is for the Win when tops are down. I’m only trying to drive the car when it’s nice out and top has to be down. I went with the htc all the way. It’s cool to see motor but not a deal breaker for me. And it’s not a crazy v12 motor or something it’s only a lil v8 lol
I just love being able to open my hatch and see my motor. Also I have the engine dress up kit with muti color led lights. And the coupe is lighter than the HTC; which makes it faster.

Like you say, everybody likes something different and I understand that, I think I would have been much more understanding of GM’s decision , If they had continued to make the Corvette and this particular car, they would’ve just given it a different name. Like ford did with the GT40 , not a Mustang or a Torino or what have you !

After having both the coupe and htc I do love the htc, but the rear view is fucking terrible the way the back deck is angled up and blocks the view. When not using the digital view like at night
I agree it’s not optimal, but I honestly can’t say I have problems with his ability when the top is down. I can see clearly out of the rearview mirror, and having the Blindspot monitors for the Sideview mirror, helps me more than enough.
For myself I couldn’t justify the $7500 premium. Living in Pennsylvania is certainly much different than Florida too. My C8 is a year old and I don’t think we’ve had the top off more than once. It’s much nicer because it’s quiet. My bottomline was still the price. If it was $1000 I would buy the convertible. Cheers!
I live in northern Michigan. The convertible is the way to go. I have the top down almost every day i drive it. Often up and down several times a drive depending on the area i drive. When the sun shines and it's warm I take advantage of it. Plus no fuss trying to keep the engine area clean. And to the "I can't see the engine" guys....neither can the coupe guys. They just see a plastic engine cover. The same one I could buy and just place on the passenger seat.

OMG, you buy this car for the engine, it's the first mid engine Vette . I want to see the engine, don't care about the convertible. It still has a removable top and you give up the motor view for a switch on the dash. Really!!! Wow
Maybe you mentioned and I missed it, another advantage of the HTC is you don't loose your trunk space to the top when its off.

For me the HYC looks more exotic with the top up or down compared to the coup. And the engine isn’t much to look at anyways.

That’s the Jake Logo. When I built it, I included that as an option that Chevy offered.

I would choose chrome mags instead and get same blue color calipers.

@@rapidblueisthenewblack4463 keep in mind what I’m gonna say is just my opinion, what I don’t like about the C8 is it looks like they took a small car in the front and mounted a huge ass on it in the back, I understand why they did it , I just don’t like the way it looks !
PS. Like you say, everybody likes something different and I understand that, I think I would have been much more understanding of GM’s decision , If they had continued to make the Corvette and this particular car, they would’ve just given it a different name.

After having both the coupe and htc I do love the htc, but the rear view is fucking terrible the way the back deck is angled up and blocks the view. When not using the digital view like at night
I agree it’s not optimal, but I honestly can’t say I have problems with his ability when the top is down. I can see clearly out of the rearview mirror, and having the Blindspot monitors for the Sideview mirror, helps me more than enough.

For myself I couldn’t justify the $7500 premium. Living in Pennsylvania is certainly much different than Florida too. My C8 is a year old and I don’t think we’ve had the top off more than once. It’s much nicer because it’s quiet. My bottomline was still the price. If it was $1000 I would buy the convertible. Cheers!
Have you seen the engine in a Porsche 911 or a cayman? No! What about most Maclarens? Neither. So if you have the extra money get the convertible 👍
I live in northern Michigan. The convertible is the way to go. I have the top down almost every day i drive it. Often up and down several times a drive depending on the area i drive. When the sun shines and it's warm I take advantage of it. Plus no fuss trying to keep the engine area clean. And to the "I can't see the engine" guys....neither can the coupe guys. They just see a plastic engine cover. The same one I could buy and just place on the passenger seat.

OMG, you buy this car for the engine, it's the first mid engine Vette . I want to see the engine, don't care about the convertible. It still has a removable top and you give up the motor view for a switch on the dash. Really!!! Wow
