Biggest thing I hate about the C8 Corvette: I don’t own one.
I smell someone getting ready to sell his corvette.
Haha
1- tint your front windshield
2-pay someone to clean your car
3- use rear view camera
4- get a convertible instead
5- you will get used to it.
i agree, this guy has a lot of issue..
he can easily wrap the shiny parts
Tinting your windshield in most states is illegal
right i was gonna say isn’t there a camera for the rear view mirror just for that reason😭
But I don’t like convertibles...
Then there’s the rest us who only wish we could even afford a new corvette.
But it is already cheap, compared to other mid engine cars.
@@trevorwilkinson8647 Right, especialy in US. In Japan, the price for c8 is almost twice than US. Moreover, much less option..I envy US people.
There will always be things to dislike even on a 3 million Ferrari doesn’t mean He is complaining. These points are good to know for people who are planning to get a corvette. This is a great car obviously biggest value for money no doubt but buyers should know both positive and negatives of the car.
Learn how to use money to make money. Only if I didn't go bankrupt due to covid... I would of got a C8. I got my C7 Z51 3LT at the age of 27 on my bday as a gift to myself, I'm 31 now. :) Work smarter not harder
In Germany the C8 convertible launch edition is 130k $
For safety reasons GM should make the rearview camera standard in all levels such as your 1LT.
Exactly my thoughts when he mentioned the problem
Agreed! And functional in the convertible when the top is down.
@@drsimonds Yes, they would have to relocate the camera. It would be nice if they could install the camera inside the nacelles with just the lens exposed.
The back up camera is awesome and all you need for safety. The back video cam only works if you have a coupe or the HTC IS up. The HTC is honestly my favorite option and I’ll get it on my z06. Visibility is amazing and so much more visceral!!!
@David Each yet should be easy!!!
What up Riley... I just noticed you haven't uploaded in over 6 months.
What's going on? Are you ok? Did you just decide to quit RUclips or what?
Either way, just wanted you to know that we are thinking about you and just wanted to make sure you're ok!?

Thank you for your honesty pointing out these real concerns. Most reviewers never share the good, the bad, and the ugly about the corvette. No matter how small the issue may be. A+
Hey amazing looking car!! ordering the same color here in a few months hopefully. I also would like to get the Vossen HF-5 rims but due to the amazing offset and stance they give, my question is...How far do they stick out from the fenders at the rocker level? and if having the GM stock splash gaurds will these be adequate enough to stop and stones from the tires hitting the rear quarters? I notice your not running currently with the splash gaurds so I assume your not getting any stone chips? Thanks in advance, any and all info would be appreciated.
I’m getting my 2022 C8 hypersonic gray with carbon fiber and the $2,700 trident rims. I’m putting the self healing protective film on the entire car for around $2000. I didn’t order the splash guard because the protective film will work just fine. Enjoy your car when it comes in.
RP you ok??? Haven’t seen anything from you in a long time. Hope all is well
Wish we could have heard your wife's opinion on the passenger seat comfort. I sat in the passenger seat for the first time last week and felt that there's no way they can continue with that center stack design. It feels extremely claustrophobic and I had no idea where to put my left arm
Good video. Can you please tell us what options you ordered your car with and which ones you wish you would have added, if any? I think you said yours was a lt1, but not sure.
#1 and #2 are really solid beefs, especially #2. As for the wheels... I think all of the C8 wheels are the fugliest GM ever offered for a Modern day Vette.
Thank you, I have been looking for a non as-seen-on-tv extendable window cleaner for my truck. Shoulder problems prevent me using my dominant hand. Liked your review too, honest and reasonable. Thanks.
Biggest thing I'd hate is lack of manual transmission option. That's me
"Right here is 80miles per hour" as you see the sign saying speed limit 70 at 9:08. That is just comedy gold.
the only reason I'm ordering the 2lt is for the blind spot mirrors and the rear view mirror camera and do you find yourself wanting the front raise at all are you scraping the front at all?
Glad you did the down sides here. I absolutely love my 2021 Z51 3 LT convertible. Glad it doesn’t have those vents, definitely something they should fix! Brake dust is significant but I wash it every few days so not a biggy. Cheers
Try pulling the wheels. Then clean, make like new. Then clay bar the wheel. Last but not least wax or sealer. The dust doesn't stick, easy to wipe off.
@@steveray8022 I’m a less involved consumer bro. I love driving and enjoying the car but probably won’t pull the wheels to clean them. Definitely would work and you’re right!
What dimensions are you running on your wheels? @RP Productions
#5 Bothered me so greatly that I went to Eikon Motorsports and purchased a Lambo door conversion kit. In most cases, the doors open far enough so that I can then lift the doors up and out of the way and get a nice big space to exit the car. As far as getting in or out, that takes a small amount of time. Once in, then I drive her and can't stop having fun. That includes the mirrors which seem to given me adequate view. My C8 hasn't given me the reflections that yours has, so I can't comment on that aspect. In terms of lane changes, I do have to be careful in certain circumstances, but so far, so good after 14 months of driving. I'm happy with the performance and will not get any of the uprated models. I'm becoming very familiar with the center button stack, so that doesn't bother me. My vertical doors did need adjustment. The easiest way was to obtain high strength grommets. I put them in place as additional bump stop to make up for the sag that develops with break-in on the strut/shock.
Awesome video! How much msrp for that set up? (Coupe,1LT)
Will the GT1 seats be more comfortable for daily driving than the GT2 seats, if they are both in a 2LT?
I'm considering the LT3 but I can't choose GT1 seats and if they are more comfortable that's more important to me
7 months .. don’t give up youtube. Hope things are well
No way! I was hoping you would upload today!
What color is that vette at @5:50? Thank you
Beautiful car! Nice review. I have just one burning question: at 11:18, did I hear you break wind getting out of the car??
He did fart
Definitely was a fart 🤣😂🤣
It happened at 11:11 also, listen close.
Great video! Thanks for pointing out the down sides, so I am def switching up the wing for Victor racing one.
I have been unsure whether to go with the convertible or not. You made two very good points they have pushed me in the direction of convertible. Thank you
Way too many ads. Your vet looks great, but get rid of the spoiler and the vents on the door just not a good look. Very good vid, thanx.
What happened to getting a viper rp ...
The wheel options for the C8’s are hideously disgusting. That’s the first mod on any C8 have wheels ready.
Black wheels make even a new corvette look like it was just dragged out of a salvage yard.
@@davidpeters9897 they don’t have to be black they just need to be better than what GM is offering for such a nice looking vehicle.
@@davidpeters9897 Couldn’t agree more. The reason is black obscures the hideous details of the design so it’s compensation.
Excellent video! I’ve watched a ton of C8 videos and you’re the first to mention the side visibility, flare from interior trim, and door in garage issues. Just curious, how tall are you?
not tall enough..lol! Also a v8 needs to be vented how do you think they accomplish that! Also when your in a vette shouldnt be looking out the back and use a different mirror!
Are there any wheel shops that have chrome options for the C8? I am having a hard time finding places that have chrome for the C8,A few said they will eventually but nothing now .
The LT2 and LT3 also give you the rear camera being projected through your center rear-view mirror display which is nice....the LT1 doesn't give you that unless you get the convertible.
I guess this is just about your particular Stingray. Maybe you should have optioned it better to get the rearview camera and blind spot warning, different interior trim.
Cheep solution to the problems:
1-vinyl wrap the aluminum
2-dont drive in the rain
3-remove the rear spoiler
4-roof off keep windows up, hey its already open
5-put micro foam/styrofoam or cork on the wall of ur garage
Final - aka suck it up, ur driving a vette yo! =D
Yeah, pretty much a whinefest. 😂
I was never a fan of the looks of the c8. Seeing your car on the street changed my mind that they can be made to look good. It's a beauty. Also sorry if I scared your wife(?) a few weekends ago when I honked in a white Jeep Patriot in the woodlands. I was trying to give a little honk but it wasn't having it lol.
The c8 is just ugly, Chevy cannot handle mid engine styling. It really falls apart with the rear end

Are those Vents that allow the Engine bay to get Wet there to allow Air Flow through & Reduce Heat in that area??
yep, thats exactly why they are there
Did they fix any of these provlems for the 2023 version?
One thing I did when I had my 1LE was put a little square of cardboard with cut up yoga mat and taped it to my garage wall. I'm sure the C8 doors are maybe similar in length like the 1LE so by having this one the wall, I could open the door all the way (slowly) and not worry about it being against the wall and getting damaged.
I love it my boy Riley keep up the work and I love the video lot real true 💯and I love c8 lot 💯
Wait so the rain just gets all on your engine? Are there drains in there?
Yes the wheels suck I'm on the list since Sept , still haven't called me to pick my options ..Prolly goin to get custom aftermarket wheels ..How much extra wireless is on the 2LT ? I hate them lane changer options, its like let me drive the car but the cams would be good but just wondering what are the extra wireless stuff that is on the 2 from the 1LT?
Trying to get into my first Corvette within the next 2 years should I go with the C7 or C8? I think the C8 Base Models will be fairly affordable once the 2023 Z06 comes out. Right now in my area a base 2015 C7 Stingray is $50K, 2017 Grand Sport is around $60K & 2015 Z06 is $65K+. All under 30K miles. Hoping in the next 2 years they’re in the mid to low 40s for a Z06 or I’ll see what the C8’s are looking at in 2 years.
RP Productions Great Video I think those would bother me also and I think you should do a 5 thing you love about your C8 Stingray Video
Wow I just discovered your channel very insightful very informative.
All very good points! Thanks for highlighting!!👍🏽
How did you get the top half of the entire corvette black
Great Video, Absolutely right on. I'm enjoying my C8 beyond and I ordered the coup because of the noise on the highway from my BMW Z4. However, very noisy on highway, but I'm still so happy and probably wont take the top off much. Great Video
How does your C8 Corvette compares in performance with your previous Camaro ZL1 and to your SS1LE?
I have a Z51 and can attest to the ridiculous amount of brake dust that gets on the wheels... My black wheels are almost never clean. My biggest complaints were the open vents on the sides and the exposed radiators up front, I ended up buying aftermarket mesh to cover them up. Best way to keep the engine bay clean is to 3M ceramic everything you can so the water beads off. I had my C8 done front to back for about $850.
I have 2lt z51 and my rear view mirror is a camera and I have plenty of visibility behind. The sides have lave assist so I'm ok with that as well. Break dust sucks but it stops on a dime
GM or an aftermarket company should come out with a tray or something to block the water from going into engine bay, like the GT500 has for the hood.
How's the air going to flow?
@@steveray8022 No need to flow, This would be installed for washing vehicle. Also if installed while driving not sure how much the temp would increase ? Maybe on highway it would be ok? City traffic, maybe not? This compartment is not air tight this is only one area for heat escape.
I was shocked to discover easy water penetration into the entire engine bay is by design.
8 months.. you okay?
“5 things that make me come across like a spoiled prick”
Ngl it definitely does.
Well I mean he wants to make a complaint video but there isn't too much to complain about therefore he is knit picking
How? You people are weird and always in the comments of videos like these and it just makes you appear super jealous and absurd lol you act like he isn’t aloud to not like certain things about HIS car? He paid out the ass for the car and probably worked his ass off to be able to. If he doesn’t like certain things about an expensive car, especially issues that shouldn’t even be an issue on a car like this then he has that right. And they ALWAYS reiterate many times how they love the car still and that it’s just small things they would change.
sounds like the rear view camera option is a must to help with rear visibility!
Do you think ordering the LT two interior with the exterior cameras would be a good choice
Got a 2lt and love it. maybe this guy should get a 2lt and quite his wineing
So for the blind spot problem I use the rear view camera on the rear view mirror that seems to help. But the doors I’m even huge I’m 6’2 and I have to park away from everything so I know I can get in and out.
I don’t understand why the rear engine bay vents were designed to allow water in. You would think it was to help the engine cool but then why aren’t they needed for the convertible? Keeping the engine bay and glass clean is a pain so hope there’s got a solid reason behind it, just wondering.
The same thing with glare happens to me when I’m driving my 2021 Camaro. They love the have the sun in your eyes
As far as rear visibility: Toyota RAV4 rear view mirror has a feature that permits you to use the actual mirror or use the rear camera projected onto the rear view mirror. It is called the Digital Rearview Mirror. I find that it is a very convenient feature.
Where did you get your wheels?
Do you still work at InShane designs?
My solution for the door opening when I had my Camaro was park in reverse and close to the wall. The passengers would get in outside the garage lol.
Our acadia has chrome trim around the ac vents and that same aluminum looking trim all throughout and it really does suck.
Nothing a little magic marker wouldn’t fix😂
this video very helpful to who is thinking about c8
Great information, well done.
What is your trim level?
Yo how do you actually "order" your customized spec'd out Corvette? I built mine on the Chevrolet website and got to step 8 which is the "summary" what do you do after that?? I don't see any options to actually place an order..?
You have to go to a dealer and show them the options you put from the website. Currently order books are closed but Orders begin for the 2022 Model Year in July and the wait time currently is somewhere around 12-18 months from order, till you actually receive the car....assuming that the dealer you order from has enough allocations.
@@BiraparSingh okay thanks!
Great video Riley!
Great info !!
How does your Corvette C8 compares in performance to your previous Camaro ZL1 & SS1LE?
Pretty sure there's a switch to change the mirror to the rear camera display to have more visibility that comes stock. Check it out. Could help a lot.
Excellent vid. 👍
I have A C8 3LT and I love it allot. Cool video didn’t really notice these problems intel now and really never bothered me because I live in California and it never rains here And I have the backup camera view in the rear view mirror.
Just so amazed from the look of it. And I am a porsche guy and Fastbacks. So I love nice lines and this has that look!!
Can’t find the link for the window washer.
I know this video is 1.5 years old but I'll comment anyway. 1. Thanks for the tip on the brush for the engine bay. 2. I believe the 1LT has the HD rear camera, it takes some getting used to and I generally don't use it, but it's there and does provide a good rear view. I have the regular Z-51 spoiler so it's not a bother. Definite blind spots on the rear quarters but if you adjust your side mirrors so you can't see the side of the car then go just a little more, it helps a lot. 3. I have the same garage issue. I put a pad on the wall and use the exit memory setting (steering column forward, seat all the way back). It definitely helps on entry, exit is still a bit difficult. Both of these things help a lot. Not sure if a 1LT has memory seats. Thanks for continuing to do these videos.
An update on exiting the car in the garage: Thanks to another C8 owner (sorry, I forget the name) who suggested setting the exit memory with seat as high as possible. This is a huge help. So, steering column full forward and up, seat full back and up. It's almost easy to exit! Hope this helps someone.
I’ve been lucky to have the C8 vin 159 and then a C8 2021 HTC.... the HTC satisfied the little things that even made the radar of things I’d change. The rear camera I don’t use as totally awkward to look at. Have to be honest… friends with lambo, mclaren love my htc …but like anything in life....beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
It's great to look at the negatives. Great video, cheers 🇦🇺
Waiting on dealer allocation for the 22's. I can deal with those 5 things. Great video

I really enjoy your information on five bad things on a C8 Corvette… I noticed you were talking about how wide the doors swing open in your garage… One trick you can do is on your key fob hold down the unlock button… That will make your windows go down so you can swing in easier… Try it… My name is Ray Hamm of Rancho Cucamonga California… Keep up the good work
Only the water in the bay issue sounds valid to me. Great spec on your car....
Should’ve gotten the rear view mirror camera option
Agreed - I have a c8 2LT and the rear camera combined with the blind spot detection is amazing. Would highly recommend 2LT if you’re getting a c8.
Thought they have a rear camera option for blind spots in rear .also maybe get a bigger garage????
You can change the rearview mirror to the rear camera display and it eliminates the blind spots. It gives you a greater field of vision.
They don’t all have that feature.
@@jv8296 the camaro has it but the corvette doesn’t? That’s wild
@@cgip1340 the 1LT Corvette does not have it. 2LT and 3LT have it. I don’t know anything about the Camaro.

Yea my 1lt doesn’t have the camera… my dads gmc Denali has it and it makes me dizzy
1. Agreed Carbon Fiber should cover the silver pieces. 2. People drive these in the rain? More reason to buy the C8 HTC. 3. The blind spots are spooky, guess it would take some getting used to. 4. Part of the deal with this, i guess like you said, get the HTC. 5. That is a thick door, had no idea! Have you considered putting padding on the garage wall just in case you accidentally swing door too far / too fast? As for parking lots, always park at the very end of the line away from people when possible.
Perfect exterior configuration esp. the wheels. Nice.

I agree the LT2 with camera mirror is a game changer w/blind spot mon.

Its only on the 2Lt and up. when he goes to the rear of the car there should be a fin-like hump at the top center (where they place the camera) his does not have it.

That was great! Thank you. A lot of Issues I never thought about. I guess a 2lt convertible with the stealth trim is the way to go.
#6 Missing the 3rd pedal.
Kidding aside, the blind spot issue is scary at a 45 degree intersection and a blind spot sensor can't tell there is oncoming traffic 75 feet away that will cream you if you pull out at the wrong moment. The only solution is try to use whatever lane area you might have at the intersection as you approach to angle the car closer to 90 degrees and maybe get a chance to see better.
It don't need a 3rd pedal. Lol
