I'm a new subscriber here. As I contemplate that hardtop convertible option, I believe I'd go for it regardless of the cost. This beautiful C8 looks so great in this Long Beach Red, which sadly the Corvette folks at GM have decided to discontinue after the 2020 model year. Thanks so much for this video.
You aren't wrong that there are similarities, however it's branding, so I wouldn't expect this to change. Everyone is focusing on the Camaro, but you can see the similarities in all models. All manufactures do this across their lineups. I think they look good regardless.
Good video. I'm in line for a '22 and hadn't really considered the convertible until I saw this. I'll be budgeting both, since I have a couple of months before I can order.
Great review. I now have 3000 miles on my 21 z51 3lt htc and I freaking love it. Your comments concerning trunk space on the coup with the top off are spot on. I drive mine to the golf course 4 out 5 times a week. In my 19 grand sport coup I could never take the top off because my clubs were always in the trunk so that was a huge reason why I went with the htc but then really fell in love with the exotic profile and look of the htc over the coup. Absolutely no regrets and couldn’t be happier with my configuration.
I have a 2020 Blade Silver HTC Z51 MagRide and love it! All of your comments are factual and the benefits do justify the cost in my opinion. I own a 2007 SLK55 AMG that, of course, has a retractable hard top. I absolutely LOVE it. The vehicle is almost 14 years old now, and the top still works perfectly. So, I would imagine the same reliability can be expected with the top on this Vette.
You are spot-on with your HTC value analysis. #1 on my list is the conveniences over the coupe. I can’t imagine stopping every time to take the targa roof off, or put it back on, and it’s possible damage each time - in and out of the trunk - and doing it as one person. One slight slip-up, and boom, a paint blemish. #2 priority: the controllable rear window, #3: better engine/exhaust sound, when you want it. #4: a clean engine and not having to constantly clean the coupe’s rear hatch window. In truth, the rear hatch window is a little smallish and dark to see the engine anyway... and the engine sits so low, you can’t really see much of it. Hard to even see the valve covers. You really need to open the hatch to see the engine on the coupe. And after you do that once with all your friends (which will happen in the 1st month you own the car) - the cool factor will be gone. Plus, you end-up feeling obligated to keep the engine bay and glass clean. There’s another 1/2 hour added to the driveway car wash. #5 priority: If you are going on a cross country road trip with the wife... forget about removing the targa top. The trunk will be full. Summer one or two week road trips are maybe what this particular retiree looks forward to the most. Can’t imagine not being able to remove the targa top, due to luggage, on a beautiful day. With a Coupe in the garage, I can see what’ll happen: the wife will say “let’s take the Outback or SUV on the trip instead. I need room for my shoes and hair dryer”. 😀
I'm awaiting my 2021 Red Mist Metallic convertible. 2LT, two tone red and black interior/seats, Z51, and black 5 spoke wheels. Originally was a 2020 order but Covid etc pushed it back to a 2021 model which is a blessing now that it's winter ❄️ & snowy here and I'm getting a whole model year newer, and a new red for 2021 - for same $ essentially. Will be in my garage for spring. Once I saw the videos and price of the C8 convertible in Oct 2019, I immediately placed my deposit. Will be well worth the wait. All the benefits of the convertible you outlined here only makes me happier that I went with my choice. Keep up the good reviews.

Great review...I would definitely get the Convertible over the coupe.. you get the full trunk, the look of the NECEL’s and the rear window are hot and no wind buffering noise
Thanks 👍🏻
CC&T best informative videos and to the point. Thank you!
Thanks Jeff 👍🏻 I really appreciate the feedback!
Thank you for the informative video!
Thanks 👍🏻 I really appreciate the feedback.
This car is beautiful the only thing I don’t like is the rear it’s almost exactly like the Canaro
I hope they change that in the 2nd version
You aren't wrong that there are similarities, however it's branding, so I wouldn't expect this to change. Everyone is focusing on the Camaro, but you can see the similarities in all models. All manufactures do this across their lineups. I think they look good regardless.
2021 version hasn't changed much tbh. Maybe the 2022 will tho I can wait myself tho 💀 finna pay off the 2020 camry first
Ordered a 21 Convertible. Currently at a 3300 status. You validated my decision. Thanks for the video.
Ordered and should have it in 4-5 month. I am even more excited now that I saw your review. (if that is possible)
Congrats 👍🏻
Just picked up my 2023 convertibles and love it. It’s well worth the extra money and you won’t be disappointed in your decision.
My convertible is ordered. Enjoyed your video.
I have a 2020 Blade Silver HTC Z51 MagRide and love it! All of your comments are factual and the benefits do justify the cost in my opinion. The biggest benefit to me is carrying the golf clubs while having the top down! Cannot do that in the coupe. Thank you, sir. I look forward to further VLOG releases.
What do you think about z51? My order got bumped to 2021. I considering going. Non z51. I never will track it. And now 2021 it’s 6k.
@@jimt2011 Having a C8 without Z51 is like having a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the jelly!
Thanks! Congrats on your C8 👍🏻
@@thomasmarengi2951 other than the wing and splitter, what do you notice driving it? Not tracking it? If you have drove a non z51. I know z51 suspn is stiffer.
@@jimt2011 , i have a non z51 3LT HTC on order. Loaded with everything but z51, don't plan to track, i won't miss the z51 on the convertible. Good luck with your order.
My feedback is I agree 100%. I hate these wheels, but that’s an easy fix! Greatest C8 Corvette Convertible review on this site! 😝
Thanks 👍🏻 I really appreciate the feedback.
I'm thinking about corverable, I enjoyed your comments, I like to what I'm buying. Thanks you
Great review! Thank you!
Top looks a lot like a Miata RF. However, the Vette gets rid of a targa cross bar, which must reduce wind noise in the design.
It does. Hardtop convs will beat targas every day and twice on sunday regarding wind noise.
IMO this iteration of the Corvette looks better with no rear spoiler.
Facts
True. However, I would change the rims to Spectra Gray rims.
What does IMO mean
In my opinion?
manny Kambo Yes, also IMHO is often used. In my humble opinion.
Thanks for the helpful info! I have a reserve for a z06 and I’m leaning towards getting the convertible! I love my C7 and didn’t think I’d get rid of it but the new Z06 is just too awesome to pass up
Great job best review I've watched thank you it made the hard top convertible THE choice for me!! 🙋
Spot on!
We put a deposit down for a 2021 C8 HTC with the LT2 package. My wife usually hates convertibles, but given that this is a hard top, she felt different. Also, since this will be her car, she is worried about people seeing a dirty engine with the coupe. Because of the cost of the convertible and the Lt2 package, we skipped on many of the other options.
Congrats 👍🏻 You'll love it.
When do they deliver and is dealer markup an issue?
JPierquet9 ...Now that I can afford one, one of my hesitations is it's a magnet to thugs. I owned a Corvette back in the early 90's and have always wanted to get another one. This new style has me sold. I just live in a city with lots of poverty and crime. We live in a gated community, but I do have to venture out... Do you worry about the criminals or people constantly bugging you?
@@markmath2883 I have a deposit down at MacMulkin Chevrolet. They sell at MSRP. Assuming no production issues, I would think late Summer 2021
@@markbennett8685 I live in a rural area in Wisconsin, so I do not worry about that too much. I do worry about vandalism. It is unfortunate that people get jealous over other people's things. It is unfortunate that you have to worry about that.
Very nice video. Thanks for posting and have a nice day too.
Convertible is the way to go.
I placed my order mid-December of 2022. My dealer called me at the end of July 2023. I was informed at the end of july,2023 , that I would not be getting the 2023 that I had ordered. I was moved up to the 2024 C8 Corvette HTC. I have absolutely no regret buying it.
Lived in Greenville my whole life and still haven’t seen one 😢. Knew where you were as soon as I saw that urgent care building
There are 2 HTC's (1 Black, 1 White) currently at Kevin Whittaker Chevrolet on Laurens Rd. Downside.....they want MSRP +$20k??????
Update - White HTC is gone, but the Black one is still there and reduced to $15k over MSRP?????
@@keithsbrown word is getting out on these C8s and i think GM knows they can ask more for them. I see them going for 95k on trucar
I've had a deposit on a 2020 LT2 Convertible since March, but when Chevrolet shut down the assembly line for COVID19, allocations didn't come through and my order got bumped to 2021.
It's worth the wait 👍🏻
Same here. The upswing on that is, they will get the kinks out and they’re not raising the price.
Same thing happened to me i ordered the 2020 in oct 2019 got pushed to a 2021 but I'm number one at my dealership the received 4 allocation i was number 5 lol but it gave me more time to really see the car and now I want the HTC anyway
Chevy has pulled my order im just waiting on production to start i called the corvette tracking line im finally at 3000 status the lady told me I should receive my car by the end of December or mid January ive been waiting at 1100 status since oct 2019
Have a convertible on order. Thanks for the input
C8 3LT Z51 Rapid Blue Convertible ordered 3 weeks ago. Can’t wait!
Have a 2LT, Z5, torch red Convertible on order expecting spring delivery
Congrats 👍🏻
Great video! Nicely done! Convertible on order, should be here early 2021. Been waiting for about a year ;-( In 3000 status.
Very informative and good to hear since I have a Rapid Blue convertible on order
We have had a white C8 convertible Z51 3LT with carbon fiber and a couple other options on order for over 6 months... can't wait
Reminds me of the Cadillac XLR
An XLR is just a Cadillac Corvette to begin with.
The Corvette convertible looks like speed racer's Mach 5.
Waiting for the Who’s speed racer lol
@@the1timster everyone knows who Speed Racer is, I'm 15 and I know.
I remember the animated and live action movies that was my fast and furious before I seen those movies looking at the car now it kind of does
Not to me. The Ferrari 308 is more of a match up.
who's speed racer??? is that the little brother of racer x???
Beautiful car, it’s a shame they dropped that color for 2021.
Thanks for the overview, if I decide to trade my c7 this is the one for me in a z51 package
👍🏻👍🏻
