1. Can’t see the engine...kind of the main attraction/appeal of the C8 2. 80-102 lbs heavier than the Coupe 3. Targa top has always had better structural rigidity. I think the hard top convertible definitely is the way to go - although I'm pretty sure no manufacturers suggest lowering the top while the car is in motion. The hinges and joints on the mechanism don;t need the stress of the wind resistance. On a side note, thanks for the nostalgic look of the QT sign advertising $1.93/gallon for regular gas in Atlanta!

I'm a new subscriber here. As I contemplate that hardtop convertible option, I believe I'd go for it regardless of the cost. This beautiful C8 looks so great in this Long Beach Red, which sadly the Corvette folks at GM have decided to discontinue after the 2020 model year. Thanks so much for this video.
Good video. I'm in line for a '22 and hadn't really considered the convertible until I saw this. I'll be budgeting both, since I have a couple of months before I can order.
We put a deposit down for a 2021 C8 HTC with the LT2 package. My wife usually hates convertibles, but given that this is a hard top, she felt different. Also, since this will be her car, she is worried about people seeing a dirty engine with the coupe. Because of the cost of the convertible and the Lt2 package, we skipped on many of the other options.
JPierquet9 ...Now that I can afford one, one of my hesitations is it's a magnet to thugs. I owned a Corvette back in the early 90's and have always wanted to get another one. This new style has me sold. I just live in a city with lots of poverty and crime. We live in a gated community, but I do have to venture out... Do you worry about the criminals or people constantly bugging you?

I own a 2007 SLK55 AMG that, of course, has a retractable hard top. I absolutely LOVE it. The vehicle is almost 14 years old now, and the top still works perfectly. So, I would imagine the same reliability can be expected with the top on this Vette.
Great review. I now have 3000 miles on my 21 z51 3lt htc and I freaking love it. Your comments concerning trunk space on the coup with the top off are spot on. I drive mine to the golf course 4 out 5 times a week. In my 19 grand sport coup I could never take the top off because my clubs were always in the trunk so that was a huge reason why I went with the htc but then really fell in love with the exotic profile and look of the htc over the coup. Absolutely no regrets and couldn’t be happier with my configuration.
I really like that color combo... I might go with the Bronze Wheels, to kind of pick up the interior color. My Brother has a now-2021 Coupe confirmed in Elkhart Lake Blue... Z51 2LT with front lift, mag-ride, and Museum Delivery.
Planning a 2023 convertible. I now have 5 reasons: need space for long trips, don't want to constantly detail engine, people might lean on the car to see the engine (scratches and sticky fingers), less effort to remove top, and now noise (bc of this video).
Looking at the 2020 convertible in red n black. Unlike most cars I’ve bought and moved on from I’m Thinking of this as a “forever car” to pass on to future generations.
Within your own CCT library, this may be to ur best: - I’d heard of the injector ticking, but you managed to capture it clearly. THANK YOU - LT1 camera mirror is huge. Agree re. driver of LT2 - I’d like to add two investment return thoughts: - Corvette Convertibles historically fetch greater resale $., imo suggests better ROI vs. LT2 or Z51 - if I order, addl $1000 savings from foregoing Engine Appearance package, no need the lights!

I love mine. Live in So Cal off of Mulholland Hwy near Malibu where Lambos and Ferraris are common place... and can attest that this is a game changer. Even Jay Leno agrees - he and others shout out, "GO USA!!" Great video, but should show painted A pillars/roof with carbon-fiber nacelles... which I have and prefer.
I have a 2020 Blade Silver HTC Z51 MagRide and love it! All of your comments are factual and the benefits do justify the cost in my opinion. The biggest benefit to me is carrying the golf clubs while having the top down! Cannot do that in the coupe. Thank you, sir. I look forward to further VLOG releases.
What do you think about z51? My order got bumped to 2021. I considering going. Non z51. I never will track it. And now 2021 it’s 6k.
@@jimt2011 Having a C8 without Z51 is like having a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the jelly!
Thanks! Congrats on your C8 👍🏻
@@thomasmarengi2951 other than the wing and splitter, what do you notice driving it? Not tracking it? If you have drove a non z51. I know z51 suspn is stiffer.
@@jimt2011 , i have a non z51 3LT HTC on order. Loaded with everything but z51, don't plan to track, i won't miss the z51 on the convertible. Good luck with your order.
We have had a white C8 convertible Z51 3LT with carbon fiber and a couple other options on order for over 6 months... can't wait
Thanks for pointing that out with the Injector tapping!!
I think all your comments on the Convertible were spot on... I ordered and have now recently received my Torch red 2020 C8, 3LT, Z51 convertible, also front lift and magnetic ride. I had considered all the points you brought up accept the dirty engine:) I got over seeing the engine real fast. The car is so impressive, gorgeous etc... Today I just cleared the 500 mile break-in, so finally able to hammer down the car, and holy crap, it hits you and punches you in the chest so hard. The car keeps pulling well north of 100 mph. I am fortunate to own several very fast cars, Viper, 911 turbo, muscle cars, and nothing hits like this... I love the convertible, but either way, buy the damn car and love it!
2021 2LT convertible on order. Your video helps confirm that I made the correct choice. 👍
Thanks 👍🏻 Congrats on your C8! You're going to love it.
Ordered a 21 Convertible. Currently at a 3300 status. You validated my decision. Thanks for the video.
My feedback is I agree 100%. I hate these wheels, but that’s an easy fix! Greatest C8 Corvette Convertible review on this site! 😝
Thanks 👍🏻 I really appreciate the feedback.
I just received my C8 Convertible, exactly the color you are showing. Love it!
Congrats!
Yes it's worth the $7500!
Now that I saw this video I prefer the convertible. Amazing looking and love that color of red. Very classy.
Your vids helped me get a c7 all blacked out thanks man!
I'm awaiting my 2021 Red Mist Metallic convertible. 2LT, two tone red and black interior/seats, Z51, and black 5 spoke wheels. Originally was a 2020 order but Covid etc pushed it back to a 2021 model which is a blessing now that it's winter ❄️ & snowy here and I'm getting a whole model year newer, and a new red for 2021 - for same $ essentially. Will be in my garage for spring. Once I saw the videos and price of the C8 convertible in Oct 2019, I immediately placed my deposit. Will be well worth the wait. All the benefits of the convertible you outlined here only makes me happier that I went with my choice. Keep up the good reviews.
First time I’ve heard about the engine noise. Good video.
Thanks 👍🏻 I really appreciate the feedback.
You just earned a sub. Quick, concise and informative reviews. Nice one mate
Great perspective on the drop top. I was already sold on the convertible but you enlighten me on a few things. Just waiting on my call for the build date.
Thank you 👍🏻
Great video on this topic!!! Made me change my view on the convertible c8
Excellent video. Keep the C8 content coming.
Thanks!
I'm thinking about corverable, I enjoyed your comments, I like to what I'm buying. Thanks you
I've had a deposit on a 2020 LT2 Convertible since March, but when Chevrolet shut down the assembly line for COVID19, allocations didn't come through and my order got bumped to 2021.
It's worth the wait 👍🏻
Same here. The upswing on that is, they will get the kinks out and they’re not raising the price.
Same thing happened to me i ordered the 2020 in oct 2019 got pushed to a 2021 but I'm number one at my dealership the received 4 allocation i was number 5 lol but it gave me more time to really see the car and now I want the HTC anyway
Chevy has pulled my order im just waiting on production to start i called the corvette tracking line im finally at 3000 status the lady told me I should receive my car by the end of December or mid January ive been waiting at 1100 status since oct 2019
Great video, you answered alot of questions i had about the convertible. Because there's such a wait for these cars, test driving one is next to impossible. Thanks 4 the post. 👍
Thanks 👍🏻
Top looks a lot like a Miata RF. However, the Vette gets rid of a targa cross bar, which must reduce wind noise in the design.
It does. Hardtop convs will beat targas every day and twice on sunday regarding wind noise.
Honestly after watching this video I decided to go with the HTC and I'm completely satisfied with my choice. Thanks for the review.
Thanks 👍🏻 I really appreciate the feedback.
Good video. I'm in line for a '22 and hadn't really considered the convertible until I saw this. I'll be budgeting both, since I have a couple of months before I can order.
Really insightful video. Nice work
Thanks 👍🏻 I really appreciate the feedback.
Really solid narration. All of the top discussion points of going coupe vs convertible were covered. Thanks.
Congrats 👍🏻 You'll love it.
When do they deliver and is dealer markup an issue?
JPierquet9 ...Now that I can afford one, one of my hesitations is it's a magnet to thugs. I owned a Corvette back in the early 90's and have always wanted to get another one. This new style has me sold. I just live in a city with lots of poverty and crime. We live in a gated community, but I do have to venture out... Do you worry about the criminals or people constantly bugging you?
@@markmath2883 I have a deposit down at MacMulkin Chevrolet. They sell at MSRP. Assuming no production issues, I would think late Summer 2021
@@markbennett8685 I live in a rural area in Wisconsin, so I do not worry about that too much. I do worry about vandalism. It is unfortunate that people get jealous over other people's things. It is unfortunate that you have to worry about that.
Thank you for a very informative video. I own a 2015 C7 Convertable. This Beautiful Chevrolet C8 Corvette that you profiled is perfect!
I'll never sell my C7
But I'll be looking forward to a new C8👌👍
Thank you. This video helped with my C7 injector tapping. I thought it was valves but the service also said injector. They should fix that!!!!
Yeah, I thought something was wrong with my C7 Stingray until I realized every other direct injection Corvette model sounds like that.
I own a 2007 SLK55 AMG that, of course, has a retractable hard top. I absolutely LOVE it. The vehicle is almost 14 years old now, and the top still works perfectly. So, I would imagine the same reliability can be expected with the top on this Vette.
Great video 💪💯💯 November is my month for C8 order, I’m going convertible so I’m definitely enjoying this video 🤔
Thanks man 👍🏻 You're going to love it!
The corvette c8 is one of those cars that i don't like the design at first but then the more i look at it the more i love it
Great review. Absolutely no regrets and couldn’t be happier with my configuration.
never really liked corvettes or convertibles, but i wouldn't mind owning one of these one day, they look amazing
Great points. Good decision 👍🏻
And don't forget the openable rear HTC window for engine sound and ventilation possibly even in a light rain.
Lived in Greenville my whole life and still haven’t seen one 😢. Knew where you were as soon as I saw that urgent care building
There are 2 HTC's (1 Black, 1 White) currently at Kevin Whittaker Chevrolet on Laurens Rd. Downside.....they want MSRP +$20k??????
Update - White HTC is gone, but the Black one is still there and reduced to $15k over MSRP?????
Great video, very informative! C8 is awesome car, especially with Victor racing C8 Stat ''70 wing installed.
Good Video, thank you for going the extra mile!!
I never thought I’d want a convertible but this HTC is the way to go!
Convertible all the way!
Looking at the 2020 convertible in red n black. Unlike most cars I’ve bought and moved on from I’m Thinking of this as a “forever car” to pass on to future generations.
Have a 2LT, Z5, torch red Convertible on order expecting spring delivery
Congrats 👍🏻
USA, USA, USA!!!
C8 gives me faith we can be great again.
Ordered and should have it in 4-5 month. I am even more excited now that I saw your review. (if that is possible)
Congrats 👍🏻
Within your own CCT library, this may be to ur best:
- I’d heard of the injector ticking, but you managed to capture it clearly. THANK YOU
- LT1 camera mirror is huge. Agree re. driver of LT2
-
I’d like to add two investment return thoughts:
- Corvette Convertibles historically fetch greater resale $., imo suggests better ROI vs. LT2 or Z51
- if I order, addl $1000 savings from foregoing Engine Appearance package, no need the lights!
Thanks for the feedback 👍🏻 Also great points you've added.
Great review of this beautiful car..
Thanks!
Great video and very helpful to me in considering a purchase. Would you please share the configuration of this Corvette? 2LT or 3LT, etc., and what is the color and interior trim package? It's a beautiful car!!! Thanks
Thanks for the feedback 👍🏼 This car was 2LT with Z51. Long Beach Red exterior with Natural interior.
The Corvette convertible looks like speed racer's Mach 5.
Waiting for the Who’s speed racer lol
@@the1timster everyone knows who Speed Racer is, I'm 15 and I know.
I remember the animated and live action movies that was my fast and furious before I seen those movies looking at the car now it kind of does
Not to me. The Ferrari 308 is more of a match up.
who's speed racer??? is that the little brother of racer x???
CC&T best informative videos and to the point. Thank you!
Thanks Jeff 👍🏻 I really appreciate the feedback!
My main question with the convertible is how do you access the engine for simple things like oil change, dipsticks, and spark plugs?
There are openings in the engine covering to access the oil fill and dipstick. I'm sure for more complicated maintenance you'd have to remove the panel covering the engine or work from below.
Nice job on this informative review. 40 years of sales and marketing here. I have learned a thing or two. Sex sells, and resells. Get the retractable convertible! 25 mpg+ on the highway? Fugeddaboutit!
Question, red mist, would black interior with red stiching look good?
Great question ... I was wondering the same thing. Also, what about red seatbealts to contrast the black leather interior ?
Dont think the red seatbelts would be good, would show the lighter color too much
@@valerieshaw5212 I was thinking the same thing regarding both the stitching and seatbelts. Could always go back to Torch Red exterior but Mistic Red looks so good.
C8 3LT Z51 Rapid Blue Convertible ordered 3 weeks ago. Can’t wait!
Amazing analysis as always. We think very comparably 💪🏾
Thanks man
Thanks for the video, I'm now seriously considering the 2lt convertible for my C8. I've been a subscriber for a couple years now and always enjoy the way you put your information out, keep it up. I watched all of your C7 videos before buying my Z06 last year and it was a big help!
Thanks 👍🏻 I really appreciate the feedback!
IMO this iteration of the Corvette looks better with no rear spoiler.
Absolutely!
Thanks for the helpful info! I have a reserve for a z06 and I’m leaning towards getting the convertible! I love my C7 and didn’t think I’d get rid of it but the new Z06 is just too awesome to pass up
