- The NEW Corvette is becoming quite the lusted after performance sports car from Chevrolet. Under the engine hatch is a 6.2L V8 that is pumping out 495HP & mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. This is the FIRST EVER convertible hard top Corvette. On the outside you will find the extra aero that the Z51 package comes with, optional wheels, and of course Rapid Blue. On the inside the Rapid Blue theme continues to the highest level interior on any generation Corvette. Since there is a great demand and not many C8 Corvettes to go around many dealerships are marking them up $10k-30k over sticker. The C8 is one of those cars that an entire generation is going to look to and say that's their dream car. GM did a great job with this one!

True, its 4.1 sec real Dragy time, lower power to weight than a C7 base, and an avg sales price of $83,000 (a 60% price hike for lower performance and putrid track times) doesn't matter to the 12K instagram whores who bought one.
They only care about the virtual 0-60 of 0.005 seconds to 60 mph with 8909 virtual HP. An entire gen of dumbasses.
The design is sure competitive but the pricing is extremely affordable!!

After the C4, I kinda lost that "wow" factor from the factory exhausts. Finally, a Corvette that sounds absolutely fantastic for the first time in almost 25 years. Probably one of the best sounding factory cars ever.

Wow. A C8 Stingray with the Z51 package, in Rapid Blue. What a smokin' ride especially with Lori highlighting it on the cam. The only option it needs is a manual transmission. Compared to it's competitors $90K is bargain. Great review! Love that car!

Yes! I absolutely LOVE the C8 HTC, and the RAPID BLUE paint with the same color interior and the darker contrast looks amazing! I dont really care that the engine isnt as visible as with the coupe, as I plan to extensively “modify” mine (twin turbos, big cam, heads, top end, fuel, etc) so it has massive hp until either the Z06 or ZR1/Zora is available. I dont want to give away what I have under the hood (what do you even call that part over a mid-engine, anyway?) so being somewhat hidden is no issue. Thanks for the TERRIFIC camera work, great CONTENT, and I love anything to do with ‘Vettes!

I just bought this car same color in 2lt horsepower with z51 and mag ride suspension. I paid msrp and it’s hands down the best sports vehicle I ever owned.
I sold my last gen viper gts a few years ago and had an itch so had to get back into a gas guzzler, surprisingly the c8 is impressive when it comes to highway mileage

I’ve never seen a dark wheel with a machined lip that I’ve liked, it makes the wheel look smaller for some reason, AMG Benz’s have been doing it for a couple years too and I think it’s a styling mistake... FYI we used your reviews of the 2020 Accord Touring and CR V Touring to help us decide to purchase both in white this year! Thanks 👍🏽
I just ordered a 2021 Convertible 2lt. Paid $15,000 over list. Every car I looked at was over $100,00 and with the extra $15,000 extra it was still the best deal and best car.
I'm amazed by how Chevrolet made the Corvette mid-engine but also create a quite decent space for the trunk at the rear unlike other mid-engine cars. Great thinking Chevy.

Man, that hardtop convertible is awesome and the Rapid Blue looks sweet! I'm thinking Ceramic Matrix Gray with black leather with red stitching everywhere and red seat belts, everything else black inside.

To answer your question, Joe... no. The ADM has been a headache for generations, but it’s getting out of hand. And it’ll keep many of these great machines in showrooms (and “rich guy” garages) rather than on the roads and in the hands of working class people where they belong.
Dealt with this at Ford with the 500: can I afford a $150k car... sure. Will I pay $150k for a Mustang of ANY kind - ESPECIALLY one with a MSRP at $88K? Hell no. As some others have mentioned - just pretty much pushed me toward the European brands. Shame, because some good things are coming out of these American companies the past few years.

Seen one these today on the highway in traffic , I’m telling you this car has a awesome presence it looks great. My only gripe is the backend , to me it isn’t cohesive with the entire car. I prefer it’s predecessor, nonetheless still an amazing car.

I agree. I won’t even consider any car that’s priced over sticker. I’m 48 now and have never forgotten Ford dealers back in the 1980’s wouldn’t even show you a 5.0 Mustang unless you were over 30 and gave them a deposit check. They used to keep Shelby/Cobra Mustangs in the showroom. They were always $20k over sticker.

I like the speedster bumps out back and this colour is interesting. I thing I would hardly have the top off so it would be hard to justify the $7500 upcharge. I am very interested in the Z06.
The car I ordered in July 2019 just showed up tonight at the dealership. It’s a Z 51. HTC. I haven’t even seen it in person yet and I would definitely go with a Z06HTC. I actually am fifth on the list to get one in 2022. A major must have!
Excellent video Joe! Picked up my C8 Blade Silver Z 51 HTC on September 28th at the National Corvette Museum. Just rolled over 4000 miles and loving every minute of it. GM definitely hit this one out of the park. 😎

What’s so fascinating about this corvette is that it seems to beat that phase that happens with new cars especially corvettes start to appear everywhere and begin to lose the fizzle.
The C7 fizzled to the point where you would think it was a Ferrari from a distance but once it came into view you’d say “Oh...just a corvette”.
But here it seems that even after the c8 comes close enough to realize it’s not a mclaren, it’s still a c8 corvette. It still maintains that *super* look/status.
I think this will be one of those timeless cars that people are going to appreciate, and will be a gem on the used car market for entry level super car owners.

I have the 2021 Corvette Hard top convertible. The paint scheme is Zeuse BRONZE with stingy decal markings along the hood with silver racing stripes along the whole body. 642 Hp, I waited almost 18 months to take delivery from Best Chevrolet in Kenner. Well worth the wait. Thinking about trading up to the 2025 Corvette Suv.
Joe, The C8 Z51 has a rear gear ratio of 5.17 and the base car has a 4.89 ratio. Another reason for the lower top speed. Great video! I have a Z51 Rapid blue coupe .

Ive owned 3 Corvette convertible. 1972 with a 4 speed. 1980 with a 5 speed and a 2001 with a 6 speed. Want a 2021 but with a Automatic ??? Like the thrill of Driving the car,, Will see !!! Luv my Corvettes, Peace !!

Don’t usually comment but this time you personified the experience of driving this wonderful car. It is truly a standout among super cars in that it’s actually affordable. Chevrolet is just getting started with this masterpiece.
FUN video, the rapid blue really is a hot color. I do wish they had opted for the carbon flash roof to match the nacelles, side mirrors, and spoiler. The blue interior and seatbelts are a nice touch as well. Part of me wishes GM would build an FRC C8 modeled after the HTC except for obviously the roof would be fixed, also the back glass would still lower, and they could hopefully have a clear panel over the engine so that we could view it. I can dream...
