Now I ride throughout the area....It handles the inclines quite welll. I have not tested its range. Enjoyed your review. Thanks

thank you for the video and the detailed review. I picked one up used non working for $150.00 I was able to fix it in about 20 minutes by resoldering the rear nine pin motor connector. The frame is nice and light, but the seat was awful so I replaced it with a more comfortable one. The brakes work just fine but the 6 speed Shimano took some adjusting. I have another really nice dual motor Ebike, but this one is great for urban commuting and not worrying too much about it getting stolen. I do keep 2 good ubolt locks with a thick cable on it and so far no one has tried to steal it. In all it is great for the price.

Mechanic's opinion: That Shimano derailleur is the base line model that goes on pretty much every inexpensive bicycle out there. It's solid, it works, thirty year ago it was damn close to state of the art, I've dealt with dozens of them in my neighborhood bike shop. There's absolutely nothing wrong with the unit. As per the review, you're talking more like $599.00 for the bike, but at that price it still seems worth the money. Considering that most credible e-bikes start in four figures, this is a bargain, assuming your needs are within the power it puts out.

Perfect starter bike. What we save in gas makes them pay for themselves in the long run.

Excellent presentation. 2 points: (I don't have an electric bike.) Leave the assist off as you start, when the torque demand is highest and USE THE LOWER GEARS TO TAKE OFF FROM A STOP. Engage the electric assist once you get going. I bet you'll multiply the range on that bike significantly, instead of burning battery on takeoff from a stop or slow speed with minimum momentum. Then shift up and help out the battery with some calorie burning. Also, put some nice ceramic brake shoes on those caliper brakes. They'll give you all the stopping power you need. I wouldn't stress those (inexpensive?) spokes with disc brakes. (You make a good point. I never trusted those electric scooters with tiny wheels. They're a guaranteed face-plant waiting to happen.) Regards.

I HAVE the touring model of this Hyper E-Ride. Have had for just over a year and have logged 1300 km on variable terrain in southern Ontario. Just love to ride it. Haven't had any mechanical issues. This bike is powerful enough to climb a 45 degree incline about 40 feet long which I climb on about every outing. Ride with a friend who has a similar similarily styled bike with 350 watt motor which COST almost double the price. It doesn't go anywhere that my Hyper won't go. He has more range so I purchased a 2nd battery but have not had the need for. Interesting enough a new battery for his is also double the price. If I were to be buying a second bike, it would be another Hyper E-Ride. Very good video that you did

I’ve had this bike for almost 2 years now and it’s been my daily driver. It’s a beautiful bike and is very powerful for a “budget” ride. I paid $598 for it and at that was a bargain. I did replace the pedals, saddle, added fenders, lights, rack, panniers, signals etc. but it def is a good deal. It really is the best, “bang for your buck”. And like I said I’ve had it almost 2 years and it’s hanging in there with some basic maintenance and upkeep. I would recommend that anyone who doesn’t want to break the bank, but is looking for a gorgeous, inexpensive, reliable first foray into electronic bicycles, get this. Nice review, brother.

I turn it off and keep going, i took it on 20 mile trips up and down, in summer and i had half of batery left, i even consider doing uber eats. I saved 2000 in bus fares, in a year. It already paid itself. You could get an extra battery if you want but its been 2 years and its been fine. I would definitely buy it again.

@@acerkrt YES the bike itself drives really smooth with out the assist . I use the motor just on uphills, and to pick up pace . And then i turn it off, i had the budget to buy a better bike, but i choose this one because i love the benefits of biking, and in minus 40 degress she kept up. Slush and everything, for 4 months. I keep it lubed and indoors. My only problem was the salt and a crash i had it broke the magnets on the sensor. But i just order a 10 dollars magnet sensor from china, and works great. . i bought three of these when they went on sale , all 3 still work fine . two of the three had the wires inside the box cut for the motor cut of switch on the brakes . the seats are horrible ,the tire tubes will get a hole n them if you look at them to hard .and the pedals are crap, one even stripped out the crank arm so after I changed all the seats , upgraded to slime tire tubes, and replaced one crank arm (they are special) and all the pedals , we have ridden them allot . I DONOT abuse them about zero off-road ,I rode them like I know how much they cost if I break them so these parts WILL break on you eventually. If you ride on low speed which is 10mph and actually pedal a little the battery will last a long time , my ass gives out before the battery , however put it on high speed, at that point you about cannot help pedal you top out at 19mph and it will eat the battery much much faster . I bought a forth one used because of a stripped out pedal and a broken sensor ring. they had already changed the seat . It is worth it . You figure I have 1,200 in the three the forth put it up to 1,400 figure thanks to Amazon 200 in upgrades is 1,600 . so my entire family can go ride for the price of one good ebike now, yes it's worth it IF your going to ride on paved areas ,off road you WILL eat dirt ha ha

I was pissed off all the time too. Life is full of challenges. I read what joy means. Joy is an overabundance of happiness. "Yeah right!", I said.
Thing is, like most of us I never thought about life and the universe in supernatural terms. To me spirit or spiritual things were fantasy because I couldn't see them.
If somebody mentioned Jesus, I'd get pissed off and call them religious nutjobs.
Thing is, people judge before they experience something new. I never would have looked to faith unless a dumb lady didn't try to kill me when she ran over me and my bike with her car.
I did some soul searching (yes we have a soul) in the hospital and later went to a Christian church with a friend. Best thing I ever did. I found out Jesus is real and joy really is a thing!

That is a downside of geared motors versus direct drive, where the hub is literally the motor. Higher quality geared hubs like Bafang are a little quieter, but there's still going to be some gear noise.
Having said that, it's a huge improvement over those nasty two-stroke weed eater bike conversion kits, and if it takes even a few of those off the road, it's a huge improvement in the noise level.

    Next step up: Hyper HYP-E29-2100, wt: 46.3 lbs, battery: Li+ 281W, 29" wheels + disk brakes, +$50
Non-regenerative motor/ electronic controller so the battery is not recharged when coasting.
250W is around the max that a casual biker will produce.
Power settings may be for more than simplicity. Some municipalities may not allow for throttling because this could put e-bikes into the motor vehicle category. This could also play a part in requiring pedaling, even if slow, for motor assistance.

i have this same exact bike, but paid the 598... even for that price i am still happy with it, but does have one issue, the chain sometimes comes off the front sprocket, to the inside when changing gears, especially if fast or aggresively.... going from 6 to 1st quickly will make front chain on drive sprocket fall inside and on to peddle sensors every time... but, you can usually still use the motor function without chain on as long as does not get stuck... just peddle without chain until find place to stop.... goes right back on easy..... also you can cheat and just kinda tap the peddles back and forth instead of peddling. i would rather have a better one..... but it is not bad at all for the price, even at 600 that i paid. however i would have saved another 200 or 300 and got a better one had i known how much i would like it.

Our bikes fold, head, tail light, brake light flashing rear light. 5 levels of power assist and throttle. 7 speeds disc brakes. We paid $1300. Well worth it. *leans in.* I can't say on longterm for stock wise. But as a upgrade platform. It's a good deal. I'm the only one doing insane upgrades to mine. I'm focusing on putting a mid-drive on it, with a front hub, and dual batteries (standard internal and a external). I'm also likely gonna swipe the batteries in the internal for larger mah to bring it from 7.8 to 10.4ah for more range.
Right now i got it with dual hubs. stock rear and ebikeing 500watt front. stock internal battery powering the rear, and a insane 30ah 36volt for the front. Which can also be swiped to run the rear if i wish since both are 36volt systems.
I think besides other youtuber before me. I had it the longest of all and it's handled the upgrades and heftiness of the extra weight rather well.
The tires are double walled alloy rims, with 12gauge spokes (which are used on higher end bikes.). The frame has mounting points for a 1-2-3 point rack. (1point being the seatpost. 2point being seatpost and frame, or just frame points. Or 3point being both frame points and on the seat post. Which i have a 3point rack.). The stem has ballbearings inside it which aren't those little metal ones with little roller balls. They are full cartiage versions. The wheels are both bolt on (Not QR/Quickrelease or thru-axle.). The rear has disc brakes mounts with 6screw disc rotor holes on the motor hub (must use the screws inside the motor hub and not new ones. The new ones will be to long. And the hub will only allow 180mm at max for rotors, Due to the frame design curves in.)

Probably not worth upgrading as the battery is low range, but it will get more people into cycling, which is good.
Here in UK and Europe we are restricted to 250W, but you can get very good hill climbing from that, yes you have to work a bit, but if you don't want to pedal, then get a motor bike.
Most 250W motors in UK produce about 700-800W on full power, the law is that the motor rating of 250W is for continuous power output, in reality if it is badged 250W, then nobody cares.

I wonder if people riding this bike on High speed should probably invest in a motorcycle helmut for better head protection when experiencing an incident at high speed.

This bike only goes 20 mph. Most humans can pedal faster than that so a good helmet is always recommended.

@@mixflip Didn't realize it was that slow. In Toronto the speed limit on the bike trails is 20 kph. Almost no one pays attention to it.

    Unfortunately $398 is a pre-inflation number. It's more like $650 right now.

Enjoyed your video and at 399 probably a good deal although I would like you get the extended warranty. But at only 250 watts that’s a pretty low powered ebike. Most are 500 to 750 watts. Probably why they cost considerably more.

I seen some 350w bikes for sell’ on Amazon for $550…it’s called a Vivi…it’s a nice looking bike, and has a very good range.
If you use turbo mode….it can get you almost up to 29mph…depending on You’re weight.

I bought a Go Trax Elevation from Kohls for $249.00 on clearance after Christmas. Plus I received $40.00 Kohls cash. It a 7 speed with 5 assist modes having manual disc brakes. It’s quite the bike with front suspension. It rides and handles very well for the cost. I had to upgrade the seat as I’m 240 lbs.👍😀

I think that bike would be nice to own as a beginner's bike; especially if it had the options to add a larger capacity, (or an additional), battery to increase the range, or a speed control, or the rear disk brake, as add on options at some future date..
Options that could be purchased after the initial purchase as 'improvements' ...
That way it would be a good starter bike for my grandsons; and one that they could improve later if they desired more range or more control.
But most importantly; it is probably the only EBike at their 77 year old grandpa could afford to buy them.

Same here. I looked online and it’s $650. I can’t see that kind of increase in 3 months.

at shock absorber seat post would be ideal as there is no rear suspension.
