I wish Prismacolor would add those blenders in each of their product. It really would really be helpful.
she sounds like she's about to give you a solution to fix your blender marker if you forget to clean it, but instead she's like "you have ruined your marker" I'm like well.. lol
I though the same thing
"When you forget to clean off your tip, You've created a new color and ruined your colorless blender." This lady is a true savage
Ennis Yu Yes, yes she is. I just got a 36 pack last night and I love them. (I already had a 24 pack, but it wasn't enough.)
Lol, how exactly does that make her a savage? She's telling people that to save their blender marker. It does ruin it if you dont clean the nib after use.
I have the 150 set of Prismacolor Premiers.
Shout out to all the pears
lmao
richard hernandez I eat PEARS 🍐🍐🍐🍐
"if you forgot to clean it... you ruined it." I donno, but I loved the way she said it so nonchalantly. xD
"you've created a new color and you have ruined your colourless marker"
don't be like a prey, be smooth like a snake 😂😂😂she's savage
This lady is so freaking adorable, i wanna hug her
+Thalissa Carvalho Well that's random
MusicalSoul I MEAN, LOOK AT HER!!!!!
Thalissa Carvalho Ok, alright... Maybe she is cute
Weirdos
Her voice is so pleasant!
SoraShadowdancer
Right? I could listen to her talk about pencils all day!
Lol I was thinking the same thing! It sounds so soothing!
A very good blending technique is to get a waterless paint brush fill it with odorless thinner I like Grumbacher...it's amazing how well you can blend your colors....a little practice first til you get the feel of it and yes wipe the tip when your finished but if you forget and don't because the thinner is in the barrel (you draw it up into the brush) just wipe the brush back and forth on a piece of paper and it will clean....you can't ruin it as far as I can telll
Joanne LaViolette Baby oil works too!
The Prismacolor blenders may work with other brands, though the results may vary.
She came to The Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale and gave away PrismaColors..shes soo wonderful and very helpful..she even gave me a new pack of grey tone brush markers...your good deed will never be forgotten :)
i love prismacolor... Just use the right sharpener when you have problems of breaking points. I never have problems and i have two sets of the 132. Use a crankhandle sharpener
I have a colorless blend marker but I didn't know you can use it for color pencils. Thanks for the info.
yes i believe you can. just try on a piece of scratch paper
@WhiteFruits Each blender works well but for different techniques, so it depends on the result you are looking for and how you work. The pencil blender is great for subtle changes, small areas and using a burnishing technique (a final layer with a firm application which flattens out the surface of the paper and leaves a smooth, almost shiny surface). The blender marker acts as a solvent and blends the colored pencil by liquifying it on the paper. It works well for larger areas.
@donniedarko88888 Almost every paper will work with colored pencils so it really depends on what result you are looking for. Drawing or sketch papers work great because they have just enough texture to hold onto the pigment.
Wow, these tools are awesome. Never knew they existed. Glad I watched this.
@animefreak7918 Thanks! We are glad you found the information useful! I don't recall the precise papers we used in the video as there might be a few different types. It is likely that the thicker papers are the Strathmore vellum Bristol paper. It is nice and sturdy for burnishing and has a nice surface for pencil application. You can use almost any paper you'd like with the Prismacolored pencils.
40 versions of the Doctor dislikes this.
Doctor: Don't make me draw pears. I hate! pears!!
Awesome. Awesome! Would like to recommend this to my friend who's drawing is his first love.
wow this video was really helpful in my blending and shading techniques
So excited to get my set of 72 in a couple of days. Will definitely try some of these tips/techniques. Great video!
Does the 72 set come with a colorless blender? Or do I have to buy it separately?
+Charlotte Web The colorless blender is not included in the set but you can find it here: www.dickblick.com/items/20508-1010/
+Nikkijr Rain You can find these colored pencils in a variety of colors on our website at dickblick.com. For any additional questions, you can reach Blick Product Information at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com. Thanks!
What is the secret ingredient!?
+Ragegamer 112 Lol
OMG! Thank you so much for the subtitles!!!!!! it's a pain being dependent on subtitles to hear what is being said. Thank you SO SO SO much for taking the time to include captioning! This is an outstanding tutorial, I'm so excited to put these new methods to use! Kudos!
I have that kit of all the supplies and I tried them. They work nicely
I never got that colourless blending pencil with my pack of 18 :(
I Hate Google use white
I Hate Google I think it's seperate but white works well too
It doesnt come with thay one
Practice! Practice practice practice! It drives me nuts when people say things like this. Don't put yourself down, no one is born good at art. You have to try and work hard! It's not fair to you when you think things like this, and it's not fair to all the artists who work so hard to have their ability written off as talent. Art is WORK. It's /fun/ work, but it's still work.
How bout a video on how to draw the pear?
cant wait to try the blender pencil. in the past, those paper blenders worked alright but it wasn't that efficient. usually i had to use the white a little to mix the colors more, but that obviously made the picture whiter than i wanted.
Thanks, I just bought a few of these and this helped alot! :)
I REALLY loved this tutorial!!! I really learned a lot!
but I have a question: what kind of paper are you using? thank you :)
This is life changing. She saved me so much money just now.
@TKD11100 On it's own I don't know that the blender will you enough color to create a shadow, but you might want to try it out to see if it suits your needs. You can always use the blender in addition to another "shadow color". Hope this helps.
whats the name of that product that "brushes" watercolour pencils? i mean that white thing that its like water, and how much is it?
in all the sets i have bought, they come presharpened. also if you have a hand held sharpner with two different sized openings, use the wider one, it makes it where the pencil(colored part) is less likely to break
Do you have to use that specific drawing paper. I just ordered my first set of prismacolor pencils.
I bought some a few days ago, so thanks for the video, it's really helpful
i will look into that colorless blending marker! it looks a lot easier than using the pencil! thanks for the tips
this is really cool i just got a set of 12prismacolor scholar colored pencils & they great!
Is there any information on the best way to colour large flat areas with pencils!
How do you had the finish to the end of your drawing to make it really even
@BlickVideos ok so you think Canson or Strathmore Drawing pads would be more suitable? and if I use this brand would I also be able to use Odorless Mineral Spirits/ Odorless Paint Thinner (if you know about it) when I'm coloring?
what kind of paper can i use for prismas to make it work better or which sketch book ??
@animefreak7918 The artist in the video refers to the texture of the paper as "hills and valleys". If you can, it is a good idea to try out a few different papers to see what you like best. It is really a matter of personal preference.
What type of paper did you use with the Colorless Blender Marker on the colored pencil coloring? I want to try that effect!
Nice series of videos. Thank you for posting. Subscribed.
Mariola Astilleros Although there are no watercolor pencils demonstrated in this video, what you may be thinking of is a water brush, which is just what it sounds like - a brush with a reservoir for water. We have serveral options for this type of brush in different price ranges on our website. Of course, if that’s not what you’re speaking of, please feel welcome to contact us and we’ll be happy to discuss other options. You can reach Blick Product Information at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com.
wow, who knew.. I"m going to have to up my prismacolor game. thanks for this video. I have a set of these pencils and like them, but knowing there is a colorless blender to go with it, I"ll do more work with these.
@BlickVideos so would it be fine to use normal printer paper?
and thank you once again :)
Thank you so much for the video! You should have seen the smile on my face when she said that blending colored pencils was possible with a blender marker :D!
Great info! Thnks, I love blick!
@BlickVideos ok so you think Canson or Strathmore Drawing pads would be more suitable?
Since I'm getting a 132 pack for Christmas, does that pack come with a colorless blender or do you have to buy it separately??
@L3z420 The Colorless Blending Pencil is considered more of a tool and something not everyone uses, so it is sold separately. Blick sells this item as number 20508-1010 on our website dickblick. com.
@BlickVideos I just want to ask a question since it doesn't say on the shipping page. How many days will it take to ship to Canada? and you guys will call us for info about the item that we ordered?
I'm so excited to go to your store in Vegas today!! but I have to wait till 4 pm =( hope times goes fast. Lol
Tomorrow I think Imma get some prismacolurs from hobby lobby so this is really helpful
Where can I buy those colors?
Cool!! Now I need a colorless blender. I have prismacolor watercolor pencils and they amazing.
Hello BlickVideos, i would like to know if your tin set of 48 prismacolor coloured pencils includes the pencil blender and the blender marker or do you buy these two items seperately? Please reply ASAP!
thank you so much
What a great choice for a presenter; she is so calm and nice!
i already have coloured pencils of another brand. does the marker work on any brand?
hi I only have a problem with the name on the pencil, I can't see what the color is, it is hard to read. I need to relate 2 my colors 😃
can I know what is the best brand of color pencil?
Question- Where do you sell that suitcase of color pencils? Generally, only the tin sets are found in such arts and craft sets.
@AnnihilatingAngel You can also try using a paper without "tooth," (the texture), such as plast bristol, which is a very smooth slick paper surface often favored by artists using pen and ink. On the other hand, the tooth helps pick up the pencil, so you may not find plate bristol satisfactory, for reasons of adhesion. But, it's worth trying...each artist has his or her own preferred tools and techniques.
Very Helpful Colored Pencil Tips!
Wow thank you it really helped I'm going to go buy mines today!!!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Do the pencils come sharpened? I did not see anything about this on the website other than one review saying they did not, but no one else had stated that fact, I could not find anything in the info about the pencils.
paulstifl3r The 24 piece set is not going to be enough colors or the correct colors for a realistic portrait. Depending on the skin color of your subject, you will need at the very least the 36 count set, if not several additional open stock colors. You might wish to purchase Colored Pencil Portraits Step by Step by Ann Kullberg (available on our website at dickblick.com) first so that you know what colors you will need. A colorless blender is also helpful for blending your colors, no matter what you are drawing. Thanks!
I noticed that the blending marker isn't available on the site anymore. Is that temporary?
Hi,what is name of marker did you used it ?
Which paper should i use for prismacolor
I'm personally a fan of the Prismacolor Scholar colored pencils, myself. They aren't as high quality as the kind featured in this video, but they still are very good and offer great blending capabilities, as well as being much more affordable. Perhaps if I ever manage to have more income, I could afford Premier, but for now Scholar is a great affordable kind while being higher quality that many other brands.
Me too :)
Fairy Seraphim I suppose that I am a very spoiled 13 year old then. My sister purchased me a 24 premier pack when I turned 12, and just recently my mother purchased me a 36 pack because my sister's 132 pack's skin tones were beginning to become short as she had misused them before she learned of their capabilities.
Just bought a box of prismacolors couple days ago. Smoothest pencils ever.
ive used the colorless blender pencil before but never the marker! I want to buy one now x.x
+ain Martinez This is a difficult question to answer because everyone tends to have their favorite due to slight differences in the pencils and the colors that are offered. Faber Castell Polychromos, Caran d’Ache Pablo or Luminance, Lyra Rembrandt Polycolor, and Prismacolor Premier tend to be the most commonly mentioned, suggested options that are all artist quality pencils. For any additional questions, you can reach Blick Product Information at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com. Thanks!
@animefreak7918 You can certainly draw on printer paper but keep in mind it is very thin and smooth so it will not give you the "hills and valleys" the artist talks about and shows in the video. It will also be more delicate and crinkle more easily than heavier sketch or drawing art papers you'd find in a pad.
For the colourless blender marker, what if you used a slightly darker colour like black? is it still possible to remove it completely without staining the whole marker tip?
Louise Chib Hi there! It may be tougher to fully remove a dark color, like black. You should be able to lighten it enough that another color with mask it or that it won’t be as noticeable. As for the colorless blender, you should be able to rub out the color so that it goes back to only putting down clear blending solution, but the tip itself may permanently stain. If you would like additional assistance, please feel welcome to contact our Product Information team at 1-800-933-2542
Hi! How can I buy this white marker? What's brand or name of that marker?
Kust bought some after a great tutorial of a painter, hope they´ll arrive soon :D
curious about the blender, and the paper, i guess its more normal straight paper than papers like aquarell no?
Hi Lynissea! The demonstrator is using a smoother paper than cold press watercolor paper. You might try a traditional drawing paper, hot press watercolor paper, printmaking paper, or a Bristol board. If you have specific questions about the blender, feel free to contact our Product Information Specialists at info@dickblick.com and they will be happy to answer any questions.
Wich prismacolor pencil would i need for realistic portraits ?? For the beggining i thought that i could use Prismacolor Premier 24 pcs... is it ok..?? and would i need a colorless blender pencil also ?? Thank you in advance.
Do you sell the large box with pencils in that is featured in this video?
Linda Hyden Unfortunately, we no longer sell the wood box set shown in the video, it was a set of 132 colored pencils. However, a wide variety of colored pencil sets are available on www.dickblick.com.
What type paper did you use?
I just brought these pencils and i love them. i was wondering. why didnt the colorless blending pencil come in the pack ?
Where could you buy these pencils and blending tools? How much are they?
Amazing🙌🏻
A blending stub dipped in paint thinner works beautifully to blend.
como se llama ese lapiz o marcador blanco?
thanks for the tips :)
@minimesnowflake We sell all the products shown in this video on the Blick website dickblick . com.
Is it possible to use the white prismacolor colored pencil to blend in the colors? I don't have a colorless blender marker or colored pencil.
C Mossaad Absolutely you can use white to blend colors. You may also want to try blending with a lighter color or transparent color, like yellow, or a color that you used towards the bottom of your layers. For any additional questions, you can reach Blick Product Information at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com. Thanks!
Anyone know which colored pencils are better? Blick Studio Artist's Colored Pencils or Prismacolor Colored Pencils?
Thanks
Love it ❤️❤️❤️
what is the best paper to use for these Prismacolor colored pencils?
Hello! Some great papers for colored pencil are Stonehenge, Strathmore Bristol Board, Canson Edition, and Canson Mi-Teintes. Thanks for your question!
@BlickVideos ok, but i actually didn't quite understand the "hills and valleys"
Can I use the white pencil to blend or does the colorless work way better
+MSP Hack No, white is also commonly used for blending as is any other lighter color. Just keep in mind that it will change the appearance - either lighten or tint the area - where a colorless blender will keep your color mix/layers the same. If you have additional questions, you can reach Blick Product Information at 1-800-933-2542 or info@dickblick.com. Thanks!
Hello, I made a custom pencil holder for these AMAZING pencils!! It includes the item numbers, color name, and color sample.. I sure hope it helps keep your pencil safe and organized!!
AHAH! so thats the difference between my work and that of a friend of mine's, hers always seemed to be so much more vibrant than mine and i could never figure out what I was doing wrong. I never knew they had colorless blenders available. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
