How Much 392 Scatpack Month?

- Dodge Challenger 392 Scatpack NEXT UP!!! The Charger 6.5L 397 Twin-Turbo is about done & it's time to start thinking of what's next for the Channel. I came across this 2016 Challenger 392 for a very reasonable price & thought it was worth the chance. Is there a better or cheaper 392 out there? Absolutely!!! This 2016 Challenger is in great condition which is why I figured it would be worth buying.
Was the Challenger 392 Scatpack worth the Price Tag? Over paid or just right? Many thought I should go right for the Challenger Hellcat SRT or Shaker 392 Package in a prior video.

Thanks! Here’s a little something towards your mods.
Thank you very much! Every $ helps when you're into the modding world. I really appreciate it
@@RTLife how do I donate ??
@@glleboy2233 That's a new feature on youtube. There's a "Thanks" button below the video that allows you to donate any $$$ amount to the channel.
Should I have held off a little longer or was this a solid deal? Let me know what you think!!!
Considering the current market and condition of the car I'd say you did good on the price. It is a good looking car and will be a boatload of fun. If you haven't already found the b_mason channel it is worth listening to his take on modding the 392 as he is right on. I've had mine for about 4 years and have the basic recipe mod set, nothing wild. - 305 nitto DRs on factory repro wheels, Hellcat airbox and filter (both are important), 85mm billet TB, some bmr lower control arms, rear tower brack (arched, spdlogix), front tower brace (petty garage), JG engine and trans tuning, vibrant 1794 mid muff swap (sounds deep and throaty with fun crackles and not as loud as a straight mid muff delete...and no droning). It is a really fun street car, and runs well at the track. If you are going to Orlando Speed World let us know or IM me, i like to go to the Wednesday or Friday test and tunes when I can. Always fun and they have a bunch of 392 cars, mustangs GTs, Camero SS, etc. cars that will give you a workout.
You can tell when a car was loved. Garaged and washed at home because the paint isn't faded or scratched, regular maintenance, and low miles. She looks nice.
I really like the older hellcat hood on the newer ones but that's just nitpicking
Great deal. I love my 2020 shaker scatpack. You'll love yours!
Solid deal all the way.
Sounds like a good plan. Looking forward to the new content.
The 392 is a ton of fun to drive with the low end torque
Agreed! It's a great power level for street/strip action. I'm already loving this thing
I bought a brand new 2022 shaker hood Scat Pack, and I'm glad I did. It's a great street runner and a good highway touring car for two.
I think you did good with the quality of car vs price. I’ve learned the hard way more than once that it’s usually worth paying a bit more to get something that was taken care of. It’s cheaper in the end and you’ll love the car even more.
Can’t wait to see what you do to it! Good luck! 🇺🇸
So true! When you buy a used Hellcat/392/ etc. you def need to make sure the prior owner kept it in good shape. I've seen some of the cheaper options out there & you know the prior owners beat the hell out of it haha! Either way thank you very much
I think you got a great deal all things considered. Your going to love it. I've had my 2019 Scat Challenger for about a year and a half now. Ran a best of 11:97 @ 114 first time out at the track with 17" wheels and Mickey Thompson 305's drag radials. That was just leaving it in drive, not paddle shifting it. There's a lot more there for sure with more runs and learning curve.
I love the out of the box performance it has. When I visit the drag strip I'm going to try lining up vs other stock cars & show how these 392's stake up. Many people don't give them the credit they deserve.
Agreed. There is a learning curve at the track with these cars though. Dont even bother going to the track without drag radials
@@johnmarshall3903Don’t use the paddles at the strip you’re better with leaving in drive and put it in track great time btw
@@johnnykilroy9399 I'm thinking the same thing, First, 2nd and 3rd go by too fast to worry about and you never get out of 5th gear at the stripe. Not sure how to improve the et's much more though other than make more passes and experiment. My lights are terrible as well, not used to how a drive by wire feels. Great time though as you said.
392s is where it’s at. Perfect balance of power and practicality.
It really is a nice street/strip combo! It's at that money spot in HP/Torque for street driving & still very respectable in the 1/4 mile
Preach it.
Congrats for your new Chellenger, wise move! Totally agree with you. Also like you said it's all about stopping before too much is becoming too late and then you're stuck with an undrivable (and unsalable) 1/4 mile monster.
Very good deal honestly! I bought my 16 scat challenger with 64k miles for 34k! 6 months ago! But it's California so I know I paid to much!
Hows the 392 been treating you? It's really all a matter of where you are - supply & demand I guess.
@@RTLife been great! I'm rough on it once in awhile but definitely not everytime I drive it! I got the 6 speed manual a little hard not to lol! Seriously though awesome car! I have the tick but it's the exhaust manifold bolts ! Unfortunately it's a thing on the 6.4 and 5,7! Use 0 44 oil very crucial for the cams! Other than that absolutely no other issues! Enjoy your car man they are amazing and so fun! 👍
Well done! n welcome to the 392 family! I have a 2021 Challenger M6 and I plan to do an NA build! As of right now my mods are modest for warranty purposes!
I def understand that. The warranty is worth a lot, hard to give that up for extra HP. These 392's are a blast stock anyway - plenty of HP for the streets.
@@RTLife yes so far all I have is a fully ported factory intake manifold, 85mm bbl throttle body port matched, muffler/resenator deletes, Eibach lowering springs, BMR rear diff brace, BMR front & rear strut tower brace, oil catch can, Barton Short shifter, light weight trans brace, lower hellcat air box with ram air scoop & k&n filter. The car has been ceramic coated and front end clear bra! Looking to get a cam, long tubes, ported & polished heads, 180 stat, hellcat clutch, a progressive 100 shot of nitrous and tune through our long awaited Mopar Direct Connection for 392s!
Can't wait to see where you go with this. I've always figured an offset wheel configuration with some 305's in back is all these 392's needed. Then Dodge released the 1320 with some 275 drag radials and that pretty much confirmed it. The line lock, launch control is pretty much fluff. Regular scat packs are just undertired.
Like you said, with upgraded tires the 392 is a lot faster. The hemi makes a ton of low end torque so it's brutal for a 392 to get traction on street tires esp 245's!
Seen a used 2020 charger 392 with 16k miles no accidents for 38k
Where? Around me the prices are up there if you're looking at super low mileage 392
@@RTLife South Fl, that’s assuming no extra 5k dealer markups.
I really like how you stayed with the RT! Lol, RT Scat Pack but awesome.
It's still an R/T LOL! Just a beefed up one. Really pumped about this 392. Thank you
Congratulations on your Dodge Challenger 392 Brother 😇🙏🏼😎🤘🏼
Thank you very much! Def appreciate it. So far it's been a lot of fun
@R/T Life You're very welcome Brother 😇 🙏🏼 i know that feeling & i Love My Dodge Challenger as well.! Just wondering can you feel a different with the Challenger then Charger 🤔 ? Again I'm Happy for you Brother
Nice choice, now I can officially say that you are a member of the 392 club. Congratulations. 😎😎😎😎
On a drag pack, the 392 should run 11.7-11.9 depending on conditions at the track. I know that from racing quite a few Scat Packs. What makes them fun to drive is that they're really responsive to throttle inputs. You don't have to wait to build boost. If I were to trade my Mustang in and buy another car, it would be either a 1320 or a Scat Pack. I doubt that I will trade my car in anytime soon. I don't want to make payments. Since you're paying off the car over 84 months, the price you're paying for it isn't all that important. Overall, I think you made a fair deal for the car.
The condition of this really sold me. I just had a good feeling about it - we will see though. Buying a used performance car is always a crap shot! I'm loving the performance of it so far
@@RTLife - It makes more sense to buy a used Scat Pack. A new one is about $25K more than you paid for the car you have now. The Scat Pack hasn't changed in any meaningful way since 2015. It's a 2-edged sword in that respect. You can save money over a new one. However, that is also why they keep their value so well. What's the point of paying more for a new car when you can get a used car that is virtually the same. For example, Mustangs are revised more often causing previous versions to depreciate faster. Scat Packs are pretty durable. It is unlikely that you have major problems with the car in the foreseeable future.
@@hu3.789 Appreciate your insights.
OH BOY I CANT WAIT 😂 HE’S GOING TO PUT ON FOR US 392’S 💪🏾💪🏾
The new whip looks very clean and looks like a good decision. Probably best you passed on the shaker that was beat on. Best car you can afford at the time is my modo. Stock 392 with a tune + drag wheels & tires is usually mid to high 11’s in good air.
Back when the market first crashed I got my 2017 rt 392 challenger with 74,851 miles for 35,900 after dealer fees it ended up being 43k and with interest 50k but I’m paying it off faster.
Those damn dealership fees add up real quick! Hows that 392 treating you?
I'd say that's a fair price. Just got (October) my '16 scat challenger, (6 speed) 14k miles for 38k. Really excited for this build!!!!!🤘🤘
Congrats man on the 392! These things are so much fun right?! I love going for drives now hahaa
Glad to see you didn’t get ripped off at the dealership and still got a sweet ride congrats man! Got a scat too with 42k miles for $28k but it had a rebuilt title. Love these cars!
Congratulations on your new ride man. You’ve earned it, cheers.
It's such a fun ride! Def going to enjoy this. I really appreciate the support
Good for you, man. It’s beautiful! Prices are what they are these days, but it sounds like you got a good deal. I’d be interested in seeing a video of a bone stock 392 with your pedal commander. That 392 has got great low end torque and it would be fun to see what it would with just that simple mod before you do anything substantial. Until then, congrats!!
OMG Remember those pedal commander days hahaha! So many people hated on it. I really hope this 392 works out - I thought it was a solid deal esp for something in this good of condition. So far I've had some fun but I want to upgrade the tires before really stomping on it! Thanks man for the support - always appreciate it
I ended up removing the pedal commander from my '12 Challenger, it failed and threw more trouble codes than one could imagine, then went into limp mode. It got sailed into the nearest dumpster as I was 300 miles from home on a road trip and had figured out it was the issue. Thank God I had my scanner with me!
@R/T Life ...tires definitely... I have a '14 Challenger RT and I swapped the tires out for some drag radials (Nexen Drag Spec SUR4G) & I'm glad I did.. they hook real good!!!
@That V8 Life Dude, like, no. I'm not about the Pedal Commander for these cars. I realize you didn't ask me, just sayin'.
@@MM_in_Havasu Pedal BOX is the way to go. Been using it for years no issues at ALL
Looking forward to this new chapter.
I’m so stoked you got a Scat Pack💪🐝. The first thing I did on my Scat Pack Challenger was Mid muffler and resonator delete . Full limo tint and I upgraded the stock 245 tires to 275 Nitto NT555 G2 tires all around and bought Hellcat wheels/rims. I’m still debating weather I should lower it but I’m hesitant since I don’t know much about lowering cars. Congrats again bro 🐝🤙🔥
I want to retint as well. Go a little darker. Yah the wheel & tire setup is def getting changed up. You should look into coilover suspension - it will allow you to manually adjust the ride height.
@@RTLife I’ll definitely look into coil overs. I’m hyped for all the new content 💪🔥🐝🐝🐝
Eibachs well be fine! Proline series! Have had them on my 16 scat for 6 months and no inside tire wear ! The sporline series well lower the car more but will require a camber kit! Trust me the proline springs are enough and makes it look way better!
@@fredwilliams7893 thanks I’ll definitely look into it. I just don’t wanna mess up the alignment but I definitely want to close the gap a bit.
@@Shadow_of_Yharnam exactly what the pro series will do!
Love the selection. I got a 17 Scat Pack Shaker in Octane Red a year ago. And although I miss my old M6 R/T, the Scat is a blast.
Congrats on the Challenger man. 👍
I've always heard that the 392 really doesn't need too many mods to make it quick. I have a friend who's been killing it in bracket races at the strip she goes to in a completely stock Scat. I think her best quarter mile was about 12.6-12.7 with slicks.
Nice! The 392 is a great engine - def has plenty of performance right out of the box. I'm already having a blast & it's bone stock haha
@R/T Life ...wheels and tires, long tube headers & 3 inch exhaust, ported intake & throttle body... with a custom dyno tune...
@@ghostrt1608 Add an OEM Hellcat lower air box, with the little ram air intake tube and you've got the build I want to do with mine. The 6.4 can get a decent bump from bolt on mods, from what I hear, I'm excited as hell to play with mine once it is paid off.
@Jeremy Anderson ...I have a 2014 Challenger R/T with the 5.7 Hemi... I've been doing a few things to it here & there.. I wanna get my exhaust system upgraded next... been comparing a few brands lately... BBK, Kooks, Stainless Works, ARH...
@@ghostrt1608 I had a 2019 5.7 before I got my Camaro. A lot of people will recommend expensive brands but honestly, all you really need is a muffler delete. I did that to mine with some long tubes and a tune and it was plenty loud and sounded really good.
Congrats! Welcome to the 392 family 🙌🏻
I’m glad you’re going to be going out and showing everybody what the scat pack can do, Because I hear all the same stuff. Glad that you got it have fun and I’ll be watching all the videos.
Just picked up at 2016 manual scat pack for 32k out the door with 52k miles bone stock only mid muffler delete no ticking sounds great
Sounds like a smoking deal!
I love it man! So excited to see what the journey is this time. Gotta keep grinding and keep the channel in the front of the news. It's certainly exciting to see where we go from here.
I think this is going to be a lot of fun. Already thinking of what to do 1st haha! The motivation has really killed me this year - spent 6+ months without my Charger R/T so this will keep me making videos & having fun again!!!
Congrats buddy. Really happy for you!
You got my attention! I'm excited about your upcoming Scat series. Ready, action!!
Glad u stuck with Mopar even more happy to see u in a challenger!!!
Congrats man I been excited for the 392 content as far as mods I’d love to see a 500-550 whp N/A build with the different wheels and tires like you mentioned but I’m sure no matter what route you go on your build it’ll be bad ass
That's the exact direction I want to head with my SP, I love those type of builds.
Pretty Scat! You got a good deal, that's low milage for a 16. I have a 19 Scat, 35 k miles on it. It's a blast to drive, personally I drive mine in sport 90% of the time, it really wakes her up! I'll be looking forward to your mods. I've only done minor mods, first was wider rear tires, that's a must. Next was a oil catch can and then some minor cosmetics and theft deterrents. I found a great cleaner for the Alcantara seats if you are interested. I enjoy your mopar content....thanks for sharing.
Great choice!! Love it!! Can’t wait to see future videos 🎉 happy holidays
Sweet, I've got a scat challenger and a 5.7 charger. Your channel has always been awesome, and an inspiration to what can be done to my charger can't wait to see what u do to the scat. By the way, my fastest time in my stock scat is 12.35 on a 275 20in street tire.
Wow, nice find! What a great price you paid for a Scat Pack. Excellent color choice Red Line Red which is the same color as my Challenger😀. Wish I could have found a Scat Pack for that price last year when I purchased my5.7L T/A. I'm in love with my T/A and not going to part with it. Enjoy your Challenger and I look forward to seeing future videos on your progress.
Merry Christmas. Happy new year. Car sounds awesome. Can’t wait to go to Florida.
I hope you & your family had a wonderful Christmas! It's been pretty cold down here but it will be warming up soon. Thanks man

Just so freaking gorgeous and already has mid muffler delete man! U lucky son of a gun! I'm not going no higher than 38k so u definitely got a deal going by year and miles💯

I didn't think it was worth the price tag. The prior owner just didn't treat it right
Great purchase and I look forward to seeing the content and mods
Dude My 06 Charger R/T blew up!!!! I too got a 2016 Challenger !!!! except mine is only a R/T plus....Has 18,000 miles on it. I paid 26 for it. So happy for both of us!!! My wife and neighbors hate me. I brought it home stock. Then next week had it straight piped. Lol 😆. Mine is also next to perfect condition.
That’s a sweet ride. Price wasn’t too high and wasn’t too low. Fair deal
Nice pick up, good choice. I love my 22 Scat Pack Challenger so much.
Great color choice! Congrats on the car, it's beautiful. $35,000 for a 6.4L is pretty good!
Congratulations 👍🏼👍🏼
Great Choice !
Thank you very much! Def appreciate it
Oh I know you’ll be sending it to Mack btw you did real good on price considering the market. When mine was stock on streets I managed a 12.2 at 117 so if you get some 17s with Mickeys you’ll definitely be in the 11s
That's pretty cool man, you got yourself a charger and a challenger to grow old with, what I really wanna do as well but I seriously want a Cat to be my last Car I buy. We will see, congrats on the Chally !!
Happy for you Bro! A beautiful Car! Luv&Peace Cheers!
Beautiful car! You made the right decision. Can’t wait to see it ripping down the drag strip.🏁
Picking up my 19 scat today $45,180 after taxes and fees with 19k miles. Crazy deal in the NY area. Will prob look like a bad deal in a few months but I traded in my rt which would of yielded less trade in as the market crashes. Overall excited. :D
What's crazy is the prices of 392 has dropped drastically in NY. Here in FL they're holding their value. You got a great deal no question about it - better then this that's for sure.
@@RTLife Just a few weeks ago it was listed at 47k before tax and fees.

So excited see what you do with car!
Yes!!! I have also a NB scat pack. Stock on a wheel tire combo!😁
Everyone underestimates the scatpacks man😂 the torque is crazy and the 8 speed pretty much always has the engine in power
They're so much damn fun! 392 has a lot of HP/Torque right out the box - plenty for the street/strip
I’ll be watching. I have a 2016 Challenger as well. Plumb Crazy. 19k miles.
I'm sure interest was 7% or 8% for 84 month loan in Florida 😅. But hey, you have a healthy channel so you'll for sure cake walk that monthly payment player. 🤝🏿 It's all good! Enjoy that thanggg player!
Now that you have turbos on the charger when you get ready to do that final power adder let's look at approacharger. A Cam ought to be pretty impressive in that .
Congrats on the new scat man 🫡
Bit high for that year but you're happy with the purchase so isn't that what matters most?
Very true. Buying used is a risk - I just had a good feeling about this one. Just seemed like a good choice
@RTLife thats what matters then. I'm ready to see videos of both the vehicles once you get Bluey back
Can’t wait for the scatpak vids!!
I traded in my scat challenger for a Ram rebel. I kept my scat charger, but man I kinda miss it now. Your challenger reminds me of how mine looked when I first got it 😭 (I wrapped the stock hood in satin black, threw on satin black wheels with 315s at the rear). Might have to get a challenger again
Merry Christmas. Yeah brother blow those Mustang away with that thing. Have fun with it. I just got a 22 scat pack i love it, we got it brand new in Pittsburgh PA just couple weeks ago. I gotta make a video on it one day.
Congrats on the new 392! These things are so much fun. Can't wait to test it out & see how it does vs other competition. When you make a video - let me know. I will check it out
Thanks R/T life. Yeah what a amazing all around car its so fast and yet such a smooth ride like you dont feel the speed at all. very easy to go over the Speed limit but hey we have just about 500HP. Yeah for sure brother ill def let you know and il give you a big Shout out.👊
Curious if you would consider doing the DC Stage Kits when they come out?
I bought a 2015 srt 392 last January with 47k miles for the same price lol thatz crazy a year later almost u get one for the same price that crazy...good luck with her
Man financing cars just sucks, glad you did it before rates really get crazy. 397x84 is about 33k, down payment was 12k, car price was 35k, so they’ve eaten almost all of the down payment if you were to pay it off.
Great pick, scats are great value, price was reasonable I’d say given the geo. I’d love to just see the car get tuned and tired up, let’s see what it does.
I’ll have to catch you at the track one of these days 😂

The mark up game is real! Went and looked at a 2019 BMW 540i listed at 35k for my wife! When all the taxes were dumped back and her trade got factored in, the price was 47k!!!! I thanked them for their time, got up and legged it outta there!!!
Yo R/T Life my brother. Check it out that car you got is beautiful and a very good buy my guy. Now if you want to do a couple mods go with a Holly Hi-Ram intake bro and maybe some Edlebrock heads. Long tube headers and a tune also I'd still forge the internals just to have a piston that will last longer than the hyperutectic pistons that come in them. I personally would go with the holly front drive kit to clean up the front too but this is what I would do if was gonna keep it NA for daily purposes. Love the Challenger I called it too on your poll you had put out. Anyways merry Christmas brother and happy holidays
yah my plan is to do a nice N/A build. Thanks man for the heads up & tips. This 392 is going to be a lot of fun - it's already a blast stock!

Ehh I mean here in va 2017-2020 challengers are going for 35-39ishh with miles around 20k-40k …I would say it’s a good deal still though especially if you’re happy with it

Congratulations on the new car I like what you're doing you already went with the charger to its limits basically on its build and now you're starting another project which is great how can you do that with a EV there's only so much that you can do plug it in somewhere download something add a little more horsepower what fun is that so it's great to see that you're doing another project I'd like to see the charger what it's going to do on the strip quarter mile time if you could post that sometime that'd be great
