  • Dodge Challenger 392 Scatpack or Hellcat SRT 6.2L Supercharged V8 Hemi. Why would anyone buy a 6.4L 392 SRT, Scatpack, Daytona or T/A over a Hellcat SRT? In this video we will talk about why a 392 is a better option over Hellcat if you're looking to buy a Charger & Challenger. The Hellcat is an amazing performance ride but there is more to ownership then just performance.
    How Much for Hellcat vs How Much for Scatpack is one of the reasons why the 392 is a no brainer for most people.

    What’s my real love for the 392 Hemi is the heritage of it all. Gen 1 Hemi’s at the peak where 392s. NASCAR championship winning motors for sure. Then they morphed into the engine of choose for Top-fuel and top alcohol dragsters pushing 200 n the 60s and early 70s. So for me bringing the past back in a bigger and better way was very important to these Scatpacks. There is really nothing like those 392 Hemi emblems on my car’s shaker scoop. For ultimate blast from the past the Scatpack R/T is where it’s at. Hellcats are new generation beasts that take it to another level. But if you like that old school vibe, Scatpack is where you want to play.

    Makes a lot of sense going with the scat pack along side the charger. Buddy of mine put in a cam in his 392 and tuned it for a nice power gain. I’ll ask him what he did -> modern muscle extreme cam for NA 392, .080 Manley pushrods (since you’re there anyway). 445 hp and 463 lb-ft to the wheels.

    _I _ am not going to read the comments before I give my opinion lol and I know I will get a lot of shit for what I have to say :)_ ...Great choice going with the 392.. if I had to do it all over again I would have gone straight to the *__392 6 speed_* as a starting point for a number of reasons (Better rear end, bigger brakes, and noooooo MDS lifters to deal with lol just to name a few)... Yes the HELLCAT is a great car for the price for what you get but too much as a daily driver price/ins/maintenance etc ... (on the flip side if you are young single /retired and have the extra cash and not a daily it would make more sense)... *_one keynote I am not a fan of buying these cars used or any performance car... unless you absolutely know the history because so many of these cars are leased beat up then returned..._* guarantee you will have problems down the line and if you are making payments and have no means to fix it your screwed and at the mercy of the dealer to fix (if under warranty). on top of everything, I still think prices for these cars are over bloated for a platform that has not changed much since 2008. (15-year-old platform)

      The cost difference between the 2 is drastic when you breakdown the monthly total expenses. Not even close - the 392 for the price is a blast. In my opinion it's at the perfect power level for street/strip. Hellcats are amazing - I just don't think the price tag is worth it.

    If you can't put the power to the ground (on the street), then what good is having it realistically? If you're into spending BIG bucks on sets of tires every year with plenty of smoky burnouts, and money is no object. then go big.I personally know that if you own a powerful quick and fast street legal vehicle, you're going to use that power when ever you are in control of it. Ya got it, ya use it. Tickets, increased insurance costs and loss of your license are also to be considered. Been there, done that.

    I just bought a 23 WBSP M6 in Octane Red. That car gets far more attention than I want, but I understand why. Even as old as the design is, theres no modern muscle car that captures the badassness of HotWheels like this car imo. The 392 in the city is far more than you need power wise, but still mostly manageable with gas and insurance expenses. I have a shitty, albeit short commute to work so I dont get to enjoy much of a smooth drive, but the time Im in it makes traffic much more barrable.

  • @hu3.789
    @hu3.789 Год назад +3

    If I were to own a Mopar, it would either be a 392 or an R/T. If I owned an R/T, I'd add an E-Force supercharger, a limited slip differential, and I'd call it good. I like that power level because it makes a well-balanced package. You have power that you can use on the street and you can use all of it. My brother owns a Hellcat. Anything more than half-throttle and it lights up the tires. If you do WOT pulls, you're letting off the gas 5 seconds later. It's too much horsepower for the street and you can't use all of it. Unless you like taking your car to a dragstrip, the 392 is a better value for your money. My Procharged V6 Mustang makes about 440 rwhp and it's just dumb ass fun to drive on the street. At that power level, it is easy to find competitive races at the dragstrip. Would I pour a ton of money into modding a 392? Hell no. I don't want to pay the Mopar tax.

    • @RTLife
      @RTLife  Год назад

      Yah That was my second point. I think the 392 is at a great power level for both street/strip use. Like you stated, the Hellcat is a bit much for daily or street use without radials - it's over kill for a RWD car. That's why so many get into accidents with them.

  • @eichler721
