The original black ghost was legendary for sure. I just watched a video of a few months ago where they actually tracked down the car and the owner. The owner unfortunately passed away and his son now owns the. Fun fact I believe the gator top was an option he picked that was very uncommon. Also he ordered it with a shaker hood but for whatever reason it came with the double vented hood instead. He got Dodge to eventually give him the shaker hood but he never put it on
If you want to know more about the black ghost there is a video from a few years ago all about its history made by the guy's family and as of that video it was either being restored or was running(can't remember which). For a quick run down the original owner was a black guy from Detroit that worked as a traffic cop. He had a passion for street racing and fast cars. When dodge released the 1970 challenger you were able to go to the dealership and custom order the vehicle with a massive amount of options. This guy did that except unlike just about everyone else he knew exactly what he wanted, something fast, and he knew just what to choose to get it. The iconic gator roof was a mistake on the factory's part but he decided to just keep it. He would take the car out every once in awhile at night looking for a race and as soon as he got his fill he would disappear into the night, earning the nickname "black ghost". Based on what we know about his record he was undefeated in that car. Sadly he eventually did pass away and the car was left to rot in a garage for a long time. Edit: the link to the video ruclips.net/video/Jd0io1zktqI/видео.html
