MOST of the classic Barbie movies is just Barbie telling one of her sisters a story, so I don't get WHY they've abandoned that format. It could still work, Like, Barbie's everyday life plays out normally through her Netflix show, and for the movies, maybe Barbie takes a break from editing her RUclips vlogs, and sees one of her sisters having a bad time, and sits them down to tell them story.
Exactly! What worked so well with that format is that we as the viewer were looking through the eyes of the younger sister and we admire Barbie because she’s somewhat of a mysterious character. Taking that away gives a weird feeling when interacting with the dolls because the translation from movie Barbie to doll Barbie isn’t there. Maybe that was just me as a kid
Let’s be honest, the earlier Barbie movies (Barbie as princess and the pauper, Barbie as Rapunzel, Barbie the magic of pegasus etc) are the superior Barbie movies.
The fact that the main villain is literally a bunch of trash and not even a trash monster or something like that, it was just a trash island that they had to destroy with their powers.
Really? How ridiculous. I will never stop says my how bad the new movies are. The old ones were so much better for so many reasons I can’t even get into
@@patax144 I think the main problem is them trying to be modern whilst also being fantasy. The old movies were completely fantasy so anything could happen and you would question it and it fit in. When the first started I’d with the modern day movies, it worked because it was modern day things but in a barbie reality. Now it’s like they’re trying to out barbie in real life modern day but also still bending back to add mermaids and such and it just doesn’t work.
I usually don't like hating on new stuff as a collective, because when I see older generations do it, it comes off to me as narrow-minded. But when it comes to Barbie, I genuinely feel like there's a gap in quality (in terms of story and dialogue) between the older films and the newer ones. I've tried to chalk it up to my nostalgia in the past, but come on. You can't tell me music lyrics like, "I've got magic! Magic, magic!" are in the same league as, "You would think that I'm so lucky that I have so many things. I'm realizing that every present comes with strings." (and don't get me wrong, I don't even think The Secret Door is that bad of a movie). The classic Barbie films were so magical and whimsical and romantic though. Even my Mom liked them. They taught great lessons --- like Clara finding her inner strength and courage, Odette learning to have faith in herself, the Twelve Dancing Princesses learning to embrace their individuality, etc. They had pretty good dialogue too and were often genuinely funny. It felt as though the creators actually cared about telling thoughtful stories with fun and interesting characters. Nowadays I don't really feel that. I think the only film after 2011 that I truly liked was Starlight Adventure.
I agree! I always thought it was nostalgia, but when I took my time to look at the evolution of Barbie movies, I noticed clear changes. From around Mermaid Tale on, almost all movies take place in the real, modern world, or have it as a starting point. They also stopped adapting famous stories like fairytales. I also think they tend to shy away from showing real struggles and problems, or at least they are easier resolved. (This is just a tendency though.)
I think the Barbie movies after 2011 that I actually liked were "The Pink Shoes," "The Pearl Princess," "Rock 'N Royals," "Star Light Adventure," and "Dolphin Magic."
@@deenadallas2802 The Pink Shoes wasn't bad. I liked her friend and the two guys were kind of funny. I think I just remember the villain being a bit underwhelming. I don't think I ever watched Rock 'N Royals.
@@supremeoverlorde2109 For me the villian in the Pink Shoes of course always has to be a Ice Queen...why couldn't the villian be any other element? I wish that they'd go back to Barbie playing as a different character instead of the movie being connected to the series. I they wanted Brooklyn or the siblings to be in the movie, they can be different characters as well. Dolphin Magic and Big City Big Dreams are pretty good movies that connected to the series, but I want them to explore outside of it.
With a basic-ass title like Mermaid Power, when in the past we've had more creatively named icons such as Mermaidia, Mermaid Tale, Pearl Princess, and even Dolphin Magic, it honestly doesn't surprise me that it was boring, but I'm disappointed regardless. 😅🧜♀
I've also ranked all the Barbie mermaid movies from worst to best, and I finished them all in two days. So here's my list. 6. Barbie: Mermaid Power 5. Barbie in A Mermaid Tale 4. Barbie: The Pearl Princess 3. Barbie: Dolphin Magic 2. Barbie in A Mermaid Tale 2 1. Barbie: Mermaidia
@@bhavanijayant526 Because it lacks creativity, something to differentiate it from the previous Barbie mermaid movies, as we've already seen the power of mermaids utilized several times before already in this franchise, and every one of those did something unique with the concept. Having the title be straight-up called "Mermaid Power" shows laziness, a lack of care in promoting what'll supposedly make it unique in comparison to its predecessors. 🤷♀
It’s because Netflix has signed a contract with Mattel to stream their new movies, (I think this is because they want to promote and sell the toys for little girls ) so I’m pretty sure they are only streaming the new movies because those are the toys that are available now so, I don’t see the old movies comming to Netflix anytime soon.
am I the only one who doesn't like this new Barbie art style? they all have tiny button noses with bug eyes and weird teeth, not a fan, wish she looked more like the doll
I havent even watched the movie yet but what the heck is up with all the colored hair?? Like I'm sorry but everybody just suddenly has bright pastel hair colors for absolutely no reason? Where did that come from? I love the concept of mermaids having colored hair but at least do it like it was done in Mermaid Tale with only pieces of her hair turning pink, that way we could still recognize who was who.
Atleast in mermaid tale Merlia got pink hair because of the mermaid dna and is a sign of mermaid puberty. That was an explanation that somehow made sense
Exactly the hair colors in this movie had no concept. These novel movies either stay lodged to logic (like big city big dreams) or either stray away too far from it
It's interesting to see how the style of Barbie movies changes so fast. I grew up with the 2007-2015 Barbie movies, and I saw an immediate shift in the Puppy Adventure movies (what wikipedia is describing as the second revamp). But I actually really enjoyed Spy Squad, Star Light Adventure, and Video Game Hero. There's just something about the Dreamhouse Adventures that makes it seem like the shift went just a little too far and I still haven't figured out what exactly it is about it that bothers me. I'm also wondering if it's just our collective aging taste and nostalgia, or if the quality of the writing in the movies really is deteriorating.
Or it could be that they're trying to place it in a more modern day to day basis, but trying to add more fantasy elements (I liked the show quite a bit though)
I think Techically the current era of barbie movies starts with "The Great Puppy adventure" because its where the lore for taffy got reset and the same puppies show up in all the new barbie movies plus the shows.
I haven’t seen the most recent Barbie movies but I’m sure they’re all at least decent. My only problem is that the more recent ones are just a bit more basic. The old ones were really creative and in-depth stories, but these newer ones are just “oh uh mermaids and magic and dolphins and stuff, yeah” I’m not saying that all recent Barbie movies are bad. I don’t like when people say that. I just think they should put a bit more creativity into the storylines. (And this might just be a personal thing, but I think they should try to come up with better titles, too. ‘Mermaid adventure’ isn’t bad but it’s just really basic.) I love that you talked positively about this movie, though, because overall it’s a Barbie movie, so can it really be that bad? :)
Yes, I completely agree. There were some relatively newer Barbie movies that I personally really enjoyed (Video Game Hero and Starlight Adventure) that I thought were good with creativity.
People who are saying “Barbie is for kids that’s you don’t like it” it doesn’t matter cuz the older Barbie movies ware great even now rewatching them as an adult it is still great.
No, different does certainly not mean worse. Try to tell that to the new younger audience aka the kids who are being like you in the past and are growing with these ones. Or they could grow up with the old ones and modern ones at the same time and not find a single difference of enjoyment.
The newer movies seem to have an unfinished ending when they just finish with a song. It’s nice, but I agree with how they should have transformed back and said goodbye. Even a “see you later” would have had a less abrupt ending.
How did we go from , ballet plays inspired , dramatic Barbie musicals to “oh yea my mermaid friend gave me a necklace let’s go help her “ sounds like a Dora episode
I thought Barbie and Ken liked each other but maybe they just don't want him to be with her and I thought Barbie and Brooklyn were just friends but I think they also are a couple but mostly I just think they are friends.
The doll is super cute, and the dolls look better than the character models in the movie, which is the opposite for most Barbie movies I feel,,, we're evolving, but backwards,,
I literally watched this yesterday and while I didn't fall asleep, I genuinely couldn't tell you the plot if you put a gun to my head because it was just not memorable at all lol
I think Stacey's design really just throws things off. I mean, it makes sense in a way since Stacey is kind of a chaotic gal, but her colours really aren't doing it for. me. I like Skipper's design, and even Chelsea's, and if the Barbie doll was more pastel-y like in the movie I think it would work better. But yeah, I think it's really just Stacey throwing a wrench into the aesthetic.
old barbie movies were movies with stories and the prettiest most iconic dresses and gowns the new ones just feel like product placements the dresses and stories are so bad😭
I love how in big city big dream it’s implied how they both have the same name even though Malibu Barbie’s name isn’t Barbie her name is Barbara, Barbie is just a nickname and it’s been mentioned in other movies and the show. Also I don’t know why they didn’t mention their middle names her full name is Barbara Millicent Roberts so if she actually needed to go by something rather then Barbie she could have gone by Millicent.
The older movies: Adventure, teamwork and friendship, magic, fun songs. This movie: Trash is bad and mermaids stop it with their powers. It's a good message but badly executed, the mermaids hairs looked weird and a bit ugly, the songs were horrible. The animation is ok but the rest was not. I almost falled asleep when i watched it two months ago and can't remember the plot. I think it was about a ceremony and choosing who will destroy trash? I still remember what happens in Barbie Swan lake, the Daimond castle, magic of pegasus, Twelve dancing princesses and the Island princess. Thoses are really good movies 😀
I wish that Brooklyn had a protective style, like her braids, or Havana twists, faux locs, etc . Her hair just doesn’t make sense, and it’s barely even wavy, nevermind curly/coily like it’s supposed to be.
I only watched Mermaid Power because I was curious about the questionable character design of the bully mermaids, as they looked like cringey rejects from Shadow High or Monster High to me. The powers also reminded me a bit too much of things like Avatar the Last Airbender as well as the way characters earn their visions in Genshin Impact. I was very surprised that there were no dolls made of the bully characters who looked like they were trying to copy Shadow High or Monster High. Why would they not make dolls of the characters who had actually interesting designs? And I hate the molded on clothes on these dolls, which is a reason I stopped collecting Barbie movie dolls as a kid. At least I have Monster High, Rainbow High, and Shadow High to collect now.
There was also a callback to Mermaid Tale when Talleigha tried to push Malibu and Brooklyn into a cyclone, much like Eris did to Merliah and Alistair did to Kylie.
I’m glad that they made a sequel to dolphin magic, imo dolphin magic is one of the best of the newer movies. Glad that they’re adding all of the old barbie movies alongside the new ones onto Netflix though.
Isla looks tanner and she looks like Brooklyn with them also both having purple hair. I think they made her eyes brighter to keep them from looking so similar. They could have just made their hair and mermaid outfits different
Idk if someone raised that comment, but I felt like the musical numbers were just too close to one another and one or two could’ve been a simple scene. The other thing I personally didn’t like about them was that, for some reason, they felt the need to make Barbie/Barbie/other friends look at the “camera”?? Idk about other ppl, but it just bothered me a lot 😅 I think it’s the first time they tried that kind of “interaction” with the audience, maybe to test it out and see how the viewers react to it, but I hope they don’t do it again. It was appropriate for the Dreamhouse series because it’s supposed to be a sitcom, but it felt very unnatural in BMP.
"if you're watching this, you probably enjoy Barbie movies" nope! I just really like your commentary and enthusiasm 😅 i watched like 1 barbie movie 15 years ago but you make it so interesting!
Classic Barbie movies had such good stories, Barbie represented women and battled against misogyny, had adventures, gave lessons to her sisters, and nowdays Barbie movies are just she making vlogs and talking about cats/dogs?? like BRO why cant they make movies like in the old times? Where Barbie movies had actual content and she looked like an actual human rather than a creepy doll. Creativity is over.
When I heard that barbie was gonna have a live-action next year, silly old me thought they'd remake one of the classics like the fairytopia series or something. 😩
Hey Caitlin, if it isn't to hard to ask, can you review ever after high? I don't know if you have watched it or not, But it has a really good story! And the dolls are awesome too! So I hope you'll review it one day:) (Even tho it's really dead)
My favorite is Barbie: The Fairy Secret, everything’s catchy and you’ll really feel the Barbie Malibu vibes! From fashion, script writing, playfulness, & milkshake details-everything!
When you mentioned that the voice actor for Finn sounded familiar so I was curious to see if I would know it, and went to look who it was. And it was Johnny Yong Bosch! I've watched a bunch of animes that he's been in, so now I am very tempted to hear how Finn sounds, just to see if it reminds me of other characters Johnny has done XD
I didn’t mind the movie, but the gemstone dolphin thing was also something I was asking myself. As for the story problem, the plot line of the movie is almost EXACTLY what I’m doing for a book 😂 I don’t want to feel like I’m ripping off the movie, but the whole thing with pollution and the mermaids having powers (though mine won’t have the four elements) is what I’m doing for my story. And the villain for my book is kind of like Marlow too
I think the current barbie universe started with dolphin magic and also kind of includes the both puppy movies. Because all of those characters keep coming back, with the same animations (except the first puppy movie) and mostly the same voice actors.
I feel like it would be cool to go to the next sister and give her the spotlight as barbie but still have barbie as a character ( idk if that makes sense)
Mariposa will always be the best Barbie movie. My sister and I watched that movie CONSTANTLY as a child. It was OUR movie. And I straight up did not know it was Barbie, I only knew it as “Mariposa.” And also, the one where her changes in the waves and she becomes a mermaid is pretty cool too but Mariposa is endgame Barbie for me
i feel like that red bird and butterfly at the beginning of the movie is hinting at the next movie. Maybe there's gonna be an indiana jones-like or some sort of wildlife adventure movie where they probably find and discover new species. I'm mostly saying this because Brooklyn says "I've never even seen a bird like you". Can you please do a barbie movie prediction video?. I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.
I was a Barbie fanatic as a kid, I am *not kidding* I can recital pretty much all of the older Barbie movies by heart (besides words I struggled hearing 😩) and play the whole movies in my head if I’m that bored ahh. Since 2016 though, I’ve given up watching them all right away and the interest just isn’t fully there. It doesn’t have much to do with nostalgia but just the fact that the quality from the dolls have sept into the movies. The animation doesn’t look all that interesting either. This makes me sad honestly because some newer Barbie movies can be so charming.
I personally enjoy the newer barbie movies especially for the better animation. While the older ones may have better stories these are still enjoyable and I look forward for more. The only thing I miss are extreme fashion forward outfits in comparison to these but the hair looks way better.
I thought of a great video for you! Rankings the Disney Channel shows’ theme songs!! Id love to see you talk about the songs, maybe in tier list style? (even if you cant play them because of copyright)
Since in the earlier films Barbie was a grown-up actress, and here she's in her late teens wanting to be an actress, I almost think of these movies as prequel movies.
I love mermaids alot, so I sat through Dolphin Magic, even though I didn't enjoy it so much. I confess I don't remember much cuz at the time, I wasn't giving the new timeline a chance and I only watched Dolphin Magic twice. But I remember loving Ken and his new job and I liked the silliness of the villain, who returned in this one. So.. That being said, my expectations were better for Mermaid Power, but not to high, so all your negatives didn't upset me. When I felt like sleeping, I skipped a bit. I felt the conclusion could've been better but I didn't hate either barbie this movie or the sisters, which carried me through the plot. Plus, addressing bullying is Always a plus for me. So, 6/10 for me. I look forward to seeing your future videos❤️
Gotta say I really like the little off-shoulder sleeve things that the Barbies have. They're an elegant little accessory to differentiate these character designs from every other basic mermaid doll. But damn those jerky character movements bother me. They're moving around too fast and it's stressing me out. Which sucks cause the character models and backgrounds look really nice. But yea, it wouldn't be a Barbie if the animation wasn't weird in some way, lol XD
MEEEeEE TtTTTTToOoOOoo when I first saw this movie,I was like, ouuaaahh, Skipper and Fin, huh?💘💘💘💘💙💜valentines day passed, but,i still was laughing 😂 hardly 💑💑😍💘💘💘💘💞💞🌹💐
I thought this new Barbie universe started with Dolphin Magic in 2017? Because doesn’t this movie directly relate to that movie? And then it was the tv show AND THEN is was Princess Adventure
I mean, the only pro thing about this movie is that it's kinda better than the other Barbie and her Sisters movie. I can only think of some of the better ones like "Great Puppy Adventure", "Pony Tale" and "A Perfect Christmas", this can be included on that category but it's the fourth one out of the other movies that I mentioned.
I’m so in love with Brooklyn Barbie dolls. They used a new nose mold for her and her freckles are so cute and make me so happy because I feel like I never see dolls with medium-dark skin that also has noticeable freckles (something I think about a surprising amount because I am a medium-dark skinned Black girl with noticeable freckles). I geek out about the changes there have been to the black Barbie’s over the past few years a LOT because so much has changed. There are so many skin tones now, so many nose molds, they use more than one eye stencil, there are a few designs with vitiligo, there’s an albino Barbie that is still intentionally designed to be recognizably Black, and so many hair styles and multiple curl textures instead of just wavy and afro. Like, of the things Mattel skips out on, the diversity in their female black dolls hasn’t been one of them. I admittedly don’t look at the other POC dolls as much to see if the same effort to mix features is there though
Honestly, I haven't seen Dolphin Magic yet, so I liked that we finally got a Barbie mermaid movie where the animals look somewhat realistic and DON'T TALK!! In the past, I felt like the talking animals were really shoehorned in and it just made the movie feel a lot more direct-to-video than I'd like. And the animals being weird colors (a lot more common in the mermaid films, I think) felt at times like it was trying too hard to be marketable to children. So I think this movie is somewhat refreshing in that aspect. I like that it's just realistic enough that young kids may be able to better apply it to real-world imaginative play. Viva was also genuinely one of my favorite parts of the movie, I really wasn't expecting to see a vaquita here lol. What I really didn't like about the movie was how disorganized the plot was. It didn't feel like there was a proper story arc (especially with the girls randomly earning their powers one by one in an underdeveloped canon world), but rather like an extended toy commercial. Usually they try to hide that a little bit better. And the musical numbers only made it worse... not that they were unpleasant to listen to, they were pretty average, but they really didn't move the story along at all and just felt like music videos in the middle of the movie. I think that part of the reason for this is to capitalize on K-pop trends (like the songs on their RUclips channel have been doing), by incorporating some vaguely similar choreography, but Zombies 3 also did that and I think they did it a lot better.
I thought I was the only one who hated the musical numbers! They really did just feel like like music videos in the middle of the the movie and didn’t even try to contribute to the plot. I usually like some of the Barbie movie songs, but this one was not it.
Honestly, I'm just *patiently* waiting for the comeback of traditional Barbie movies (you know, Barbie stars as a different person and the whole universe is not in the universe of Barbie Roberts herself) because this formula Mattel has been going with for the past 6 years is becoming dull
I went to Netflix to watch this movie, but then I saw the little preview they played that showed that Brooklyn didn't have her braids anymore and that's when I knew that I wouldn't be able to stand this movie.
I remember absolutely hating this movie while watching it. My favorite Barbie era was her actor era from fashion fairytale and fairy secret. I wish they continued that
one thing that seems to be beautiful in this film is the scenery and the instrumental songs in the film. I want to watch the film but it never arrives in my country.
Why is no one talking about the bird that flew to Brooklyn Barbie or the butterfly that flew to skipper at the beginning of the movie, then never referenced again? what was the point of that bird?
To be honest mostly all the new barbie movies just well.. they suck. I thoroughly enjoyed the older barbie movies growing up now I just watch too see how they've changed.. but most of the time well.. I'm not too impressed but that's just my opinion lol tho I do admit their was some good points in this movie :)
It funny how people complaining about Barbie being unrealistic but the classic Barbie movie the 3d molded look realistic and the new Barbie movie the 3d molded look cartoonish .
I notice Mattel has really taken note of the new Disney animation (big cartoonish eyes). I miss the old Barbie movies. The animation flow wasn't perfect but the meaning was.
Is it just me that Barbie’s mermaid blue hair looks identical to Addison’s alien blue hair from Zombies 3 also loved the movie and dolphin magic and Brooklyn Barbie’s mermaid design is my fav
I can say what I did like about this movie was that they brought magic back. I missed it so much. I think most people watch movies to escape reality and that’s what Mattel has been getting wrong with these new movies. They’re basic situations. No magic to transport you to another world, just America. They need to bring back Barbie telling Chelsea or Stacy or even Skipper a story about a magical fairytale
Yesterday me and my friends wanted to watch a Barbie movie for the nostalgia and this was all we found so we saw it. We were so bored that we stopped watching it after like 20 minutes.
I don’t really like the newest Barbie movies. They’re too much, and that takes away from the whole plot line and everything. I could go on about them for a while-
To be a bit more specific, I don’t really like princess adventure and mermaid power. I don’t really know about the lost birthday, but the big city big dreams movie was fine
Of the past four movies with Vlogger Barbie, this is the best one yet, but it's still only like a 4/10. It wasn't the worst thing in the world, it doesn't even crack the bottom 10 in my Barbie ranking, but it's also not good and is _easily_ the 6th best of the 6 mermaid movies and it's not even a contest. My biggest issue is that they literally forgot to conclude the bully/rival's character arc at the end.
Okay but here me out. Barbie but she's an Elf. I would really like to see that, I don't know why i just do. Like she was a mermaid, she was a fairy, she was a princess. I want to see her as an Elf. Just me?
Ok so I love dolphin magic- and the mermaid and fairy Barbie films were always my fave (fairytopia being the best of both worlds). Which Dolphin magic is the gayest Barbie movie since diamond castle (Isla and Barbie were gfs, change my mind). But I know Barbie and Barbie are very coded. But yeah I loved Isla and Barbie in dolphin magic. The fantasy Barbie movies are the best imo, they were the ones I was most fond of. (Like Fairytopia, NUTCRACKER, Diamond castle, pink shoes, princes charm school, secret door, mariposa, thumberlina, FAIRY SECRET, and how could I forget mermaid tale 1 and 2, the magic of the Pegasus, swan lake and even princess power.) some of those came out when I was older but I’m 17 and still watching them so
I love colors. I’m a colorful person. People should not let someone else’s ideas effect the way they think think for yourself don’t let another person think for you.
When I first saw the new mermaid movie last week I didn't think I would like it because they already made multiple mermaid movies where a few of them were better than this movie. But I really like the new movie because of the new mermaid looks and the songs I just wasn't sure I would like it but I do love the movie but it's not better than the fairytopia mermaid movie or the mermaid movie that include a mermaid that's also a surfer girl. I didn't think they were going to make another mermaid movie but I don't think it's that bad. Also I love your Brooklyn doll she looks pretty and cute.

3. Barbie: Dolphin Magic
2. Barbie in A Mermaid Tale 2
1. Barbie: Mermaidia
@@deenadallas2802 tbh the first mermaid tale is much better than the 2nd one imo
Why is it basic?
@@bhavanijayant526 Because it lacks creativity, something to differentiate it from the previous Barbie mermaid movies, as we've already seen the power of mermaids utilized several times before already in this franchise, and every one of those did something unique with the concept. Having the title be straight-up called "Mermaid Power" shows laziness, a lack of care in promoting what'll supposedly make it unique in comparison to its predecessors. 🤷♀
@@DJtheBlack-RibbonedRose Ok I see who knows I will watch it and maybe I might like it idk but I kind of agree that the animation may be over the top
"i also love that the animation in this movie was very mediocre" LMAOOO
Is it too much to ask for the old Barbie movies to be on Netflix instead of THIS??
I agree
They should put the classic Barbie movies back on Netflix.
I don't know where you're from, but Netflix Latin America has added several Barbie movies!
Really? Which ones?
It’s because Netflix has signed a contract with Mattel to stream their new movies, (I think this is because they want to promote and sell the toys for little girls ) so I’m pretty sure they are only streaming the new movies because those are the toys that are available now so, I don’t see the old movies comming to Netflix anytime soon.
am I the only one who doesn't like this new Barbie art style? they all have tiny button noses with bug eyes and weird teeth, not a fan, wish she looked more like the doll
Just glad the doll’s faces aren’t like the movie 😭😭
2001-2011 animation faces are just 💅✨
I havent even watched the movie yet but what the heck is up with all the colored hair??
But I liked ALL of it, the way it was. Up till now, and when I first saw those specific ones I was like 10-12 and now I still feel the same as 16
I haven’t seen the most recent Barbie movies but I’m sure they’re all at least decent. My only problem is that the more recent ones are just a bit more basic. The old ones were really creative and in-depth stories, but these newer ones are just “oh uh mermaids and magic and dolphins and stuff, yeah”
I’m not saying that all recent Barbie movies are bad.
Well sometimes you are just stuck with the basic stuff in life, that you just go along with it. For example like me
People who are saying “Barbie is for kids that’s you don’t like it” it doesn’t matter cuz the older Barbie movies ware great even now rewatching them as an adult it is still great.
Honestly its interesting seeing the change from Barbie being an actress to Barbie being a youtuber
It’s because barbie lost her 200 careers, she became youtube already. I really miss her glam era.
Not only the dolls are lacking quality compared to the old ones, the movies are getting worse too 😢
No, different does certainly not mean worse. Try to tell that to the new younger audience aka the kids who are being like you in the past and are growing with these ones. Or they could grow up with the old ones and modern ones at the same time and not find a single difference of enjoyment.
@@marlablanco8853but they are bad lol
@@marlablanco8853I grew up with the old Barbie movies and I’m technically part of the new audience and I kind of don’t like some of these movies
The newer movies seem to have an unfinished ending when they just finish with a song. It’s nice, but I agree with how they should have transformed back and said goodbye. Even a “see you later” would have had a less abrupt ending.
I didn’t even know a knew one had come out I never get any advertisement they needa promote these more
Yeah, I had no idea
Same tbh
How did we go from , ballet plays inspired , dramatic Barbie musicals to “oh yea my mermaid friend gave me a necklace let’s go help her “ sounds like a Dora episode
No cap 😅
Barbie with blue hair makes me ✨uncomfy✨
When will we get a vampire Barbie movie😩😩😩😩
Yes, I will kill to see a Barbie vampire movie.
T H IS
They better take notes on this
Yo that would be sick- OHHH and a time-traveler Barbie that were instigated by Barbie for once actually being late for a event.
The closest thing is Monster High or Hotel Transylvania
@@caitlingill I really don’t like the new Barbie animation though): I hope they change it up
Anyone else notice Brooklyn and malibus mermaid looks kinda resemble the bi and lesbian flags??? Barbie u got smth to tell us???
I thought Barbie and Ken liked each other but maybe they just don't want him to be with her and I thought Barbie and Brooklyn were just friends but I think they also are a couple but mostly I just think they are friends.
The doll is super cute, and the dolls look better than the character models in the movie, which is the opposite for most Barbie movies I feel,,, we're evolving, but backwards,,
I literally watched this yesterday and while I didn't fall asleep, I genuinely couldn't tell you the plot if you put a gun to my head because it was just not memorable at all lol
mood
Whatever
after barbie stuff happens i go to tumblr to see what others thought and i think the fact that barely anyone talks about it speaks for itself
I think it's the pony tail or something 🤔
old barbie movies were movies with stories and the prettiest most iconic dresses and gowns the new ones just feel like product placements the dresses and stories are so bad😭
Full agree
I couldn't even finish the trailer-😭
So I hope you'll review it one day:)
(Even tho it's really dead)
I had a feeling it would be 😭😭
My favorite is Barbie: The Fairy Secret, everything’s catchy and you’ll really feel the Barbie Malibu vibes! From fashion, script writing, playfulness, & milkshake details-everything!
New Barbie movies are not how they used to make them
Gee.......you don't say. Like if it were not aobvious 😒already wether they are liked or not. A 10-year old that could enjoy it all can tell that.
isla was really out here looking like that miley cyrus meme
I loved the chaotic energy of this video. Especially after the outro❤️
I blame the barbie movies from my childhood for my obsession with having brightly coloured hair
I feel like it would be cool to go to the next sister and give her the spotlight as barbie but still have barbie as a character ( idk if that makes sense)
I was thinking for a Halloween video idea, you could watch and rank all the Scooby Doo movies.
I think the pacing is much better in these movies too. I really like how strong the bond is between Barbie and her sisters.
@@princessofstars666 love this as well
I thought of a great video for you! Rankings the Disney Channel shows’ theme songs!! Id love to see you talk about the songs, maybe in tier list style? (even if you cant play them because of copyright)
i feel like in the old barbie movies, barbie is more mature. This barbie is more childish
Since in the earlier films Barbie was a grown-up actress, and here she's in her late teens wanting to be an actress, I almost think of these movies as prequel movies.
@@caitlingill I think the new generation movies happen in a different universe.
I Miss the bright pink glitter transformation Barbie from the early 2000ds
Gotta say I really like the little off-shoulder sleeve things that the Barbies have. They're an elegant little accessory to differentiate these character designs from every other basic mermaid doll.
But damn those jerky character movements bother me. They're moving around too fast and it's stressing me out. Which sucks cause the character models and backgrounds look really nice. But yea, it wouldn't be a Barbie if the animation wasn't weird in some way, lol XD
When I was watching I totally shipped skipper and Finn too!
I would argue that since Brooklyn's name is also Barbie, your barbie doll collection _is_ complete
Let's make 'Make classic barbie movies again' trend on twitter
She comes with two fins. They are called fins.
Honestly, I'm just *patiently* waiting for the comeback of traditional Barbie movies (you know, Barbie stars as a different person and the whole universe is not in the universe of Barbie Roberts herself) because this formula Mattel has been going with for the past 6 years is becoming dull
im calling it now the next oen is going to be, "Barbie, in the hunger games
I went to Netflix to watch this movie, but then I saw the little preview they played that showed that Brooklyn didn't have her braids anymore and that's when I knew that I wouldn't be able to stand this movie.
My friends and I are just sick and tired of the Barbie dreamhouse adventures universe and the animation :/
They tried to pull the mermaid-fairy idea and that had me "Girl, you ain't Mermadia, and you'll never be"
*MERMADIA IS THAT GIRL!!*
Just curious, have you seen H2O, if not you gotta give it a watch.
It’s not boring to everyone and they making the movie for children not adults. And btw I’m an adult that is still in touch with my inner child.
@@theroseofversailles same
Is it just me that Barbie’s mermaid blue hair looks identical to Addison’s alien blue hair from Zombies 3 also loved the movie and dolphin magic and Brooklyn Barbie’s mermaid design is my fav
hey caitlin, maybe for christmas you can rank all of the barbie movie christmas songs!
So it’s the same plot as the rainbow magic movie?
i personally couldn't tell that malibu barbie WAS malibu barbie with the blue hair. it should've been pink or something
I love how the movies are connected to the series
choosing a specified number of characters for a special ceremony? hmm...almost...like....magic of the rainbow...
Yesterday me and my friends wanted to watch a Barbie movie for the nostalgia and this was all we found so we saw it. We were so bored that we stopped watching it after like 20 minutes.
I’ve noticed that when Barbie has her sisters in the movie it’s worse
I don’t really like the newest Barbie movies. They’re too much, and that takes away from the whole plot line and everything. I could go on about them for a while-
You don't say. Trust me you are not the only one to say that. Not including me tough. Heck no
To be a bit more specific, I don’t really like princess adventure and mermaid power.
Just me?
Yes it was an insult to previous Barbie mermaid films
People should not let someone else’s ideas effect the way they think think for yourself don’t let another person think for you.
this movie didn’t eat tbh
edit: the doll ate and left no crumbs tho
When I first saw the new mermaid movie last week I didn't think I would like it because they already made multiple mermaid movies where a few of them were better than this movie. But I really like the new movie because of the new mermaid looks and the songs I just wasn't sure I would like it but I do love the movie but it's not better than the fairytopia mermaid movie or the mermaid movie that include a mermaid that's also a surfer girl. I didn't think they were going to make another mermaid movie but I don't think it's that bad. Also I love your Brooklyn doll she looks pretty and cute.
