Just to let you know, they already did. Especially with Rock 'N Royals. The first few Barbie movies, they're not able to just yet. When 12 Dancing Princesses was released, they updated the animation for the skirts though. It moved smoother in comparison to prior films (Magic of Pegasus, Princess and the Pauper, etc.).
Yeah, I'm blonde and I love wearing the colour blue since I think it looks better on me than pinks do. Blue is also just one of my favourite colours in general lol
Honestly depends on how you look at it. Im not blonde but I understand why pink looks good on blondes. The face is usually the focal point and the warm tone of pink with the rest of the warm tone of blonde hair helps the face be the focal point. Depending on eye color if a blonde hair blue eyed person wore more blue it'd take away from the eyes.
my favorites: - Rapunzel's modern art dress from the painting montage - Elina's mermaid form (gotta respect the childhood Halloween costume) - All twelve dancing princesses, especially Ashlyn and Genevieve (sucker for bright colors and family theming) - Duchess Rowena's killer Rococo outfit (how come Mattel never made villain dolls?) - Alexa and Liana's peasant outfits( so much cuter than the gaudy princess gowns) - Eden's red dress (regal, Christmassy, modern, and again, gotta respect the favorite girlhood toy) - The three Christmas Ghosts, especially Future - Catherine's pink dream which looks more Barb-etic than Eden's outfit (again, why no doll Mattel?) - All four musketeers, one of the rare transforming gimmicks I actually really like - Snow Queen. Sweet mama that's a crazy villain design! - Hailey, just everything to do with Hailey - Kristyn's Giselle, Swan Queen, and battle tutu outfits. It really kinda sucks that movie couldn't stick the landing for the big, "slapped on a million toys" outfit, but it's still great and probably my second or third favorite Barbie movie overall - Barbie's hover boarding outfit - Sal-Lee's hover boarding outfit and any scene where she's wearing her natural hair - Isla's mermaid form and her adorable blue dress with the sea creatures along the hem
Skipping Erika’s dress because you knew it was a 100/10 and would made the other dresses awful in comparison was a clever move. (It’s only reason I see you not talking and ranking Erika’s dress)
the one she wears when she's pretending to be anneliese is so pretty. i love that it's still a baby blue (erika's color) despite anneliese's color being pink. don't know if they did it on purpose but it's so cute to think that either she saw it and picked it because it was light blue or julian thought she might like that one.

Although I actually had the Rapunzel doll as a kid, and maybe I still do but I don’t know, I do agree I like the first dress better. I feel like it maybe worked best for the time period while the official one is a bit too sparkly for me
Yeah I always loved that one, I loved the colour too but even as a kid I thought that dress would be nice with the colours and the sparkles that her final dress had. I still love the final dress though cause nostalgia
Can I just say, I am kind of shocked at how many Barbie movies I have seen, and at the same time, it makes total sense considering my obsession as a child.
I feel like this should be almost 2 separate videos with the “end dresses” separate from the “main dresses.” I almost like the “main” dresses more sometimes. Like in Odette’s case.
Your nostalgia is showing because. The animation is miles better. It's like if bratz came back with miraculous level of animation. Then people say the old one is better. Guys we love the Barbie movies through nostalgia and nostalgia only. If you were to watch all over the Barbie movies. For the first time. You wouldn't enjoy them as much.

@@vortexwriting1026 I don't know. I think the newer movies are targeted heavily at kids. So of course it's gonna be really bright. But the reason the animation is smooth. Is because the newer generation wouldn't be able to handle the rough animation. It shall I say they aren't use to it.

@@adrianhuq I haven’t seen it in a while either 🤭😂 Mermaidia was one of my favorites growing up though. In Fairytopia, i see her as physically disabled, because she doesn’t have wings. Her whole story arc is her being able to save the world because she’s disabled! Then they go and giver her wings, which are beautiful, but sort of rubs me the wrong way. I’m glad that they point out in Mermaidia that they aren’t permanent, though. It’s almost as if they’re metaphor’s for prosthetics.
I always adored the giant peacock feathers on the Island Princess Dress. It's so majestic. Like she's some animal goddess. It's definitely a required taste. The colors blend so well together.
My grandma made me a version of Anneliese’s dress for Halloween one year and i still have it. Wish it wasn’t 8 year old sized because it was seriously so gorgeous and looked just like it was out of the movie
I think I understand what you're saying about mermaids. I like the idea of them but I was watching a H2O / Mako Mermaids marathon and I caught myself thinking why are their boyfriends just automatically so cool with it when they find out they're mermaids? If someone turned into a half fish in front of me i'd freak out at least for a little while.
I think what you're seeing with Swan Lake and Island Princess is that the dress really should be blue all throughout and the pink seems a bit shoe-horned into the designs. Like, I can imagine some kind of corporate meddling came in and was like "you can't do Barbie without pink!"
Some marketing teams thinks that certain colors would make young girls their key demographic not want to buy them so I’m guessing they could’ve added pink just so that little girls would buy them? Mattel doesn’t release much dolls in orange or green for monster high since they thought girls might not like it

I agree. Same thing with Disney channel. People always say the wizards of waverly place and Hannah Montana time period was the best time for Disney Channel. I disagree because both times are good, people are just covered with nostalgia and bias. I grew up with both time periods for Barbie and Disney and they both are fine.
It’s really just a casual outfit, but I adore Merliah’s blue and pink dress/cover up with the hood. It’s adorable and I want to wear it. These videos are loads of fun!
Same, tho it being a childhood Halloween costume for me might make me biased. I just love the 18th and 19th century mix of styles and that shade of blue is everything to me, get rid of the tacky feathers and it’s beautiful.
watching this video all I could think about was "Barbie movies get progressively more pink" My favorite definitely is Anneliese's dress, but the older movies dresses have a special place in my heart as well.
The dress is really tacky and way to glittery and pink. There is literally only one shade of pink. There was another dress that I liked that was pink, purple, and blue.
I totally agree... also the yellow/ pink (i guess) glowing star on her stomac in the end, when the fairies did their magic on the catwalk - In my opinion this was too over the top
I honestly think it woulda been okay if it didn't have that giant speech bubble or whatever on the boddice. It wouldn't of been a favorite, but it woulda been better.
I had a swan lake one when I was little. It’s now with my 3 year old niece and it’s soo pretty. I can’t find any other princess dresses now except for Disney princesses
i think that mattel also loved Genevive's dress (am i spelling that right?, i don't think i do) because they used that dress on some side caracters in the movies that comes after
I loved the island princess dress, I mean the peacock feather thing did look a bit awkward like she said, I felt like the peacock feathers could’ve been incorporated better, I do also love the Diamond Castle since I grew up with that, I loved Melody’s dress and the purple dress, pink is alright, but I just love when Mattel strays from their everything pink motto, I feel like they overuse pink with their dresses and it makes the pink dresses almost look the same, there’s only so much you can make in pink. But that beautiful dark blue and the purples and anything just not pink, don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind pink, but I would like it if main barbie movie dresses weren’t always pink

Roe's blue dress is the reason why I love the color blue and in that exact shade and whenever I try explaining that shade of blue to my sisters I tell them "think of barbie in the island princess!"
Is it just my opinion that the best barbie’s dress ever is the Alexa’s dress from sekret door at the end of the movie?? That dress is just perfect, it’s incredible
i feel like they could’ve done a lot with the color palette of the island princess. like the turquoise, navy and purple could’ve been SO GOOD but it kinda flopped
Idk, I personally loved the sharper blue and purple tones in the dress. Although I think the feathers were extremely tacky, I loved the dress by itself. As a girl with black hair, I've always thought blondes looked better on those bright blue colours. Like the very cool colours. For example Princess Aurora's blue dress in Sleeping Beauty was 10x more pretty than her pink dress.
I had the Annika doll when I was little and I only found out recently that her dress was supposed to transform. I still think her dress was beautiful, but it was a pain to get on and off the doll because of how tight it was.
I LOVE the older Barbie dresses, The newer ones are just “Neh” if I had to water one dress for the rest of my life it will be Princess Annalise’s dress
I also loved mermaid designs. They’re simplistic but elegant usually. Also for real I’m in love with 2015 fashion. I know it’s outdated but it’ll probably come back in some form in the future as all fashion does.
The Genevieve doll was one of my favorite! It had the little gold sparkles on it and little magical lights under when it would spin🥺🥺🥺 best doll hands down
I love that mermaid Peral look, it is amazing. Best design for a mermaids and I love the skirt thing. Gonna pretend all the pearl are white cuz it look yellow in the film. 10/10
I was in LOVE with the swan lake dress but not at the end were she has wings and stuff i dont like that one but i think the one that she first transforms into with her hair down and without the wings and also the one she dances in with the short skirt, i think those were iconic

I had been having a rough time with my depression and the Barbie movies helped me feel better. It was so fun to see different references and characters pop up in other movies. And I hadn't realized how funny Pearl Princess is!! It made me remember how much I loved the movies and I think most still hold up pretty well.

@@LamisonJamison As a blue eyed person myself I can say that wearing blue makes your eyes stand out a lot more.
my favorites:
- Rapunzel's modern art dress from the painting montage
- Elina's mermaid form (gotta respect the childhood Halloween costume)
- All twelve dancing princesses, especially Ashlyn and Genevieve (sucker for bright colors and family theming)
- Duchess Rowena's killer Rococo outfit (how come Mattel never made villain dolls?)
- Alexa and Liana's peasant outfits( so much cuter than the gaudy princess gowns)
- Eden's red dress (regal, Christmassy, modern, and again, gotta respect the favorite girlhood toy)
- The three Christmas Ghosts, especially Future
- Catherine's pink dream which looks more Barb-etic than Eden's outfit (again, why no doll Mattel?)
- All four musketeers, one of the rare transforming gimmicks I actually really like
- Snow Queen. Sweet mama that's a crazy villain design!
- Hailey, just everything to do with Hailey
- Kristyn's Giselle, Swan Queen, and battle tutu outfits. It really kinda sucks that movie couldn't stick the landing for the big, "slapped on a million toys" outfit, but it's still great and probably my second or third favorite Barbie movie overall
- Barbie's hover boarding outfit
- Sal-Lee's hover boarding outfit and any scene where she's wearing her natural hair
- Isla's mermaid form and her adorable blue dress with the sea creatures along the hem
I have never seen Pearl princess but I do like the dress around the tail ✨
Now I wanna watch this video.
God, Rowena's Rococo dress is stellar! Would love a doll for her!
I love the Barbie videos that you make! Thank you for this! 💖
Skipping Erika’s dress because you knew it was a 100/10 and would made the other dresses awful in comparison was a clever move. (It’s only reason I see you not talking and ranking Erika’s dress)
Erika's dress is so pretty, I would love to wear it💙
the one she wears when she's pretending to be anneliese is so pretty. i love that it's still a baby blue (erika's color) despite anneliese's color being pink. don't know if they did it on purpose but it's so cute to think that either she saw it and picked it because it was light blue or julian thought she might like that one.
@@lilenwasnothere6867 maybe a bit of both? In my head I always though Julian picked the dress to make Erika feel a little more comfortable given the situation she was in
@@mayanblossom that's so cute 🥺🥺🥺
@@mayanblossom My head cannon exactly. Also, a bit off topic, but i can never listen to Julian talk/sing without hearing L from Death Note. I makes me laugh.
...am I the only one that likes rapunzel first dress that she paint? Like not the pink dress, I mean like the grey dress....sure it looks simple but for some reason I like it
I also liked it as a child.
i agree, the classic rapunzel dress is too poofy in my opinion
Although I actually had the Rapunzel doll as a kid, and maybe I still do but I don’t know, I do agree I like the first dress better. I feel like it maybe worked best for the time period while the official one is a bit too sparkly for me
Rapunzel’s final dress seems very 80s/2000s fusion
Yeah I always loved that one, I loved the colour too but even as a kid I thought that dress would be nice with the colours and the sparkles that her final dress had. I still love the final dress though cause nostalgia
Can I just say, I am kind of shocked at how many Barbie movies I have seen, and at the same time, it makes total sense considering my obsession as a child.
I feel like this should be almost 2 separate videos with the “end dresses” separate from the “main dresses.” I almost like the “main” dresses more sometimes. Like in Odette’s case.
i think the doll had the long dress with the wings, but i like the shorter dress a lot
The diamond castle main dresses are better than their final dresses
the new movies are really cute, especially their sister relationship but visually they dont compare...i hope we get more fairy tales again
@@zoe.3166 I genuinely think that at some points the newer movies animations are, while yes better, way too bright. As well as too smooth, as in it feels like it's missing the texture of some surfaces.
@@vortexwriting1026 I don't know. I think the newer movies are targeted heavily at kids. So of course it's gonna be really bright. But the reason the animation is smooth. Is because the newer generation wouldn't be able to handle the rough animation. It shall I say they aren't use to it.
@@zoe.3166 That sounds like a silly excuse as to why, if they can handle, neon it might as well be a sign, pink, I think they can handle looking at something that has wool textures.
Plus in the real world you look at silk and know what it feels like just by seeing it.
@@vortexwriting1026 I said or it's because they're not used to it ( meaning Mattel wants recogniseable animation because the movies don't really have much artistic integrity )
I just realized why I’ve always loved Alina from Fairytopia: she was the ace/aro and disabled representation I was always missing!
do you see her as disabled as in physically or neurodivergent? sorry i haven't seen the movie in a while
Lol same
@@adrianhuq I haven’t seen it in a while either 🤭😂 Mermaidia was one of my favorites growing up though. It’s almost as if they’re metaphor’s for prosthetics.
omg i totally see that !!
wait u might be right about them being prostetics...
I thought the pink looked nice. 🤷🏻♀️
Some marketing teams thinks that certain colors would make young girls their key demographic not want to buy them so I’m guessing they could’ve added pink just so that little girls would buy them? Mattel doesn’t release much dolls in orange or green for monster high since they thought girls might not like it
Can i just appreciate you not shitting on the newer movies? A lot of ppl get into the "everything was better in my day" mindset which just feels toxic and judgy
But still. Princess and the popstar was just a dumb concept in general.
@@omniomelet1472 many barbie movies can be summarized to be a dumb concept in general, also personally i liked it more than the princess and rockers movie lol
brunetteartist what I meant by dumb concept is that it was based on a movie they had already done before. I don’t hate it, but I wouldn’t categorize it as one of my favorites. I respect your opinion though. Also, I can see where you’re coming from with Barbie and the rockers lol.
Ikr. I see a lot of people say something like that. Like the newer ones aren’t that bad. Sometimes things need a glow/grow up.

My favorite dress is Roe's dress from Island Princess- other than the mermaids cause a mermaid always is best for me
Same, tho it being a childhood Halloween costume for me might make me biased. I just love the 18th and 19th century mix of styles and that shade of blue is everything to me, get rid of the tacky feathers and it’s beautiful.
watching this video all I could think about was "Barbie movies get progressively more pink"
My favorite definitely is Anneliese's dress, but the older movies dresses have a special place in my heart as well.
Barbie movie dresses are iconic 😉
as a fashion fairytale stan: you are right that last dress is tacky which sucks considering it's a movie about fashion lmaoooo
@@Hi-ky2wd I was obsessed with that dress as a child, absolute icon
I honestly think it woulda been okay if it didn't have that giant speech bubble or whatever on the boddice. It wouldn't of been a favorite, but it woulda been better.

Props to you!
Why does my 20 year old self enjoy this kind of nostalgia so much
Because you’ve got good taste. 💕
The pearl princess look was the best mermaid look out of the three personally
Immediately my brain goes: Barbie and the Twelve Dancing Princesses. I love the rose on the bodice and the sparkles on the skirt.

i think that mattel also loved Genevive's dress (am i spelling that right?, i don't think i do) because they used that dress on some side caracters in the movies that comes after

THIS
I hate Barbie's dress in Diamond castle but her friends purple dress is gorgeous.
@@ZeroOhClock always liked teresea better in that movie anyways ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I loved the island princess dress, I mean the peacock feather thing did look a bit awkward like she said, I felt like the peacock feathers could’ve been incorporated better, I do also love the Diamond Castle since I grew up with that, I loved Melody’s dress and the purple dress, pink is alright, but I just love when Mattel strays from their everything pink motto, I feel like they overuse pink with their dresses and it makes the pink dresses almost look the same, there’s only so much you can make in pink. But that beautiful dark blue and the purples and anything just not pink, don’t get me wrong, I don’t mind pink, but I would like it if main barbie movie dresses weren’t always pink
the gown from swan princess is my favourite! i don't think I actually watched the movie as a kid, but I had the doll and it was so pretty. I just loved big ball gowns I think, it was sparkly and fun to put on the doll
I always loved the blue/purple-themed side character's outfits so much more than the main character's lmao - never been a fan of pink
I loved Ro's dress in Island Princess. So nostalgic.

it’s always bothered me how in Island Princess she comes with a bouquet:p

I totally agree with your ratings of Elina’s dresses. I do love how they stay simple and not over the top, because Elina as a character is not overly dramatic. She’s caring and humble.
I LOVED Clara’s Sugarplum Princess dress. And the doll version was soooo pretty. And the Nutcracker is just my favorite Barbie movie.

Caitlin, you just hit me with a wave of nostalgia. I love the Mariposa movies
Roe's blue dress is the reason why I love the color blue and in that exact shade and whenever I try explaining that shade of blue to my sisters I tell them "think of barbie in the island princess!"
I actually like the Swan Lake and Island Princess dresses the most, because I just love the colors! I love the blue and purple ones in general.

I absolutely love the old dresses!! It feels so nostalgic seeing them
So the six 10/10s are Clara, Anneliese, Genevieve, Mariposa, Liana, and Corinne
Is it just my opinion that the best barbie’s dress ever is the Alexa’s dress from sekret door at the end of the movie?? That dress is just perfect, it’s incredible
i feel like they could’ve done a lot with the color palette of the island princess. like the turquoise, navy and purple could’ve been SO GOOD but it kinda flopped
So true!
Caitlin's videos are so fun to watch!!!
Swan Lake didn't get 11/10, my disappointment is immesurable and my day is ruined.
barbie dream house adventure Very pink, very bright, very casual and looks like a kid's birthday dress

I always LOVED Clara’s purple gown in Nutcracker
I LOVE the older Barbie dresses, The newer ones are just “Neh” if I had to water one dress for the rest of my life it will be Princess Annalise’s dress
Did you mean to say “wear one dress?”
I also loved mermaid designs. They’re simplistic but elegant usually. Also for real I’m in love with 2015 fashion. I know it’s outdated but it’ll probably come back in some form in the future as all fashion does.
