@@rinibunny4576 I've had too much experience with liars to know the pain they can cause. For me, that's a huge red flag. Along with lack of communication, lying early in the relationship spells disaster.
I love that! I'm glad that disney princes are slowly getting better until we have actual good male role models that people would want to be around in real life.
When he cuts Rapunzel's hair very short, it carries a significant meaning for her because throughout her entire life, she believed she would only be loved because of her hair. When he cuts her hair so short, he still emphasizes how beautiful she looks. He practically frees her from the fear of being loved solely because of her magical hair.
Is it okay if i like the beast but in his human form and in the live action is that werid ? Plus i dont like any cartoon princes i like the live action even more is that werid? Also i sorta kinda have anger problems well i wont say i have anger issuse but i am temperamental but please dont think anything bad about me also i am a teenage girl from Egypt and i am a muslim
25:54 honorable mention for the iconic flynn rider lines: "have i ever told you i have a thing for brunettes?" WHEN HE LITERALLY COMES BACK FROM DEATH lmfao pls hes so funny
I’ve always thought Eugine cutting rapunzels hair /so/ short is symbolic of how for him her hair isn’t what makes her special. Her whole life it has been her long golden hair that she is “loved” for, but Flynn loves her for who she is with or without it. If he had cut it to an average, still long length I think it would’ve lost its symbolism a bit. It’s more like shackles, tripping her up and weighing her down - he cut her free:) This is probs me reading too far into it all lol but I think it makes a lot of sense!
"Rapunzel, you were my new dream" one of the best movie lines to ever exist. I'm still waiting for a guy to look at me the way Flynn was looking and caring for Rapunzel.
its worth to note that not only does Naveen have this huge character growth, but Tiana does too. Tiana who knew nothing but hard work before she met Naveen suddenly gets taught how to dance, to enjoy life and that following your dreams is GOOD but so is having fun and doing stuff with your friends.
I personally love Prince Charming, not because of the first film, but because of Cinderella 3. It was one of my favorite Disney films as a child and is criminally underrated and unknown. It gives him so much personality to the point where this man literally JUMPS OUT OF A WINDOW TO SAVE THE WOMAN HE LOVES!!!!!! He is absolutely brilliant and deserves so much more praise
I really think the character of Cinderella is underrated in that film. She has a lot of what I'd call passive strength, which is an undervalued trait that I appreciate a lot in female characters who are stuck in bad circumstances. Sansa had it in the books and in the earlier seasons of Game of Thrones.
I really love the title "From trash to Flynn Rider" like bro, we all know Flynn sets the standard. Just like Aiden from Barbie. Especially in the series, Eugene is such husband material🤩😍
I love the line at the end of tangled when Eugene just wakes up after dying and the first thing he says is, "Rapunzel, have I ever told you I have a thing for brunettes." Gets me every time.
Prince hanz is a bad person but he’s actually a super important character because to my knowledge he’s the first villain that actually shows us that falling in love with a man in seconds isn’t always a good call which is a great lesson for children to learn
@@jasonjones3328 they don’t even say I love you in the first movie. They were searching for Elsa for a few days and def got to know eachother. And before they even kiss Anna had to commission a new sled for him which likely took a few days. Kissing someone you’ve known for about a week is reasonable. The true love that saved everyone in the movie was the sisterly love between anna and Elsa not between Anna and Kristoff even tho Kristoff initially thinks he will be the one who saves her because he took the time to get to know her
@messibessi11 that and they didn't even Think about marriage until like 3 years later in the 2nd movie and it shows they Still go through stuff then but still support each other and come back to each other despite those things.
Well, he is the first villain to show it, but not the first character. Disney sold it as if they were doing something new, but "maybe it is not a good idea to marry the first guy you met" is basically the plot of the Enchanted movie that they released years before Frozen (and that did it better in my opinion).
Hearing Kristoff say “I’m here. What do you need?” absolutely shook me to my core. Like I’ve never heard a man say that before, and in that moment, it honestly felt like I learned what love truly meant. Kristoff will always be one of my absolute fav love interests in any movie and my god, would I marry that man if I could
I think one of my favorite moments with Eugene while he falls for Rapunzel is while they are at the festival, he actually buys her the cupcakes and the flag, after a lifetime of stealing and never paying. It's just a cute moment showing he wants to be better for her.
the fact they perfected the disney prince formula with eugene and kristoff and then never made another love interest for any of their leading ladies/princesses annoys me so much
While I love that we’re past, needing a man to save the damsel in distress, or needing a love interest, I think it would be interesting if Disney took another new approach, reversing the Disney princess trope, and having it be Disney princes, who fall in love with a princess, or get saved by a female or male love interest, a reverse on the classic where they are, the damsel in distress or need rescuing by a princess or female, I think this could make for some really great and interesting characters and stories, bringing a new generation of Disney princes. We already had this a little bit with movies like Aladdin and Tarzan, where they were the main characters, but I think it would be interesting if Disney made movies like that for awhile because it’s a very unique spin on the story that really changes perspectives. I’m surprised this hasn’t been done yet.
@@allurajane4979 no, I mean a movie that is about the Prince and the Princess is like a side character or the love, interest and live action doesn’t count, I’m talking about a true, another Disney princess error, but with the Princes as the main characters and the princesses as their love interests etc, a true role reversed storyline, I think this would make for some great storytelling, and would be great for the next generation of both girls and boys, where the story focuses on the Prince rather than the Princess.
How do you beat these two? Maybe finally make a princess in her 20s or 30s and than have her fall in love with a handsome, great, kind, funny, leading man, and than everyone will be happy. Right?
Disney : Yes, we finally perfected the formula! Wokeism: Imma intervene here and say that we shouldn't make another Disney prince because every feminist would get mad and you would lose money because you aren't following "THE MESSAGE" we only need females who can do everything by themselves with no prince so feminists will be happy Disney: Alright, you make a good point *proceeds to throw the formula in the trash*
I know this list doesn't include TV series, but the Tangled Ever After series really cements how great Eugene and Rapunzel's relationship is. They're so communicative and supportive of each other and I love it.
Yes! I also beg people to watch it if they have tangled as their fav movie. Eugene in that series?! Him and Repunzel are the best relationship goals. Their dynamic and chemistry is so healthy. Him waiting for her until she is ready with proposal SPOILER: Repunzel also asking him to marry him was also such a sweet touch. Just yes- THE SHOW. Their love for each other in that series is unbelievable
@iron deficient I’d probably rank a guy who rammed an entire (previously sunken) ship into a giant squid sea witch with ocean god powers while sailing through a whirlpool pretty high though.
I really feel like Euguene and Prince Naveen would be the best of friends. Not only are their stories really similar but they are practically the same person!
If anything id see that causing problems 😂 Eugene gets quite competitive (this is especially shown in the animated series) and it can take a solid humbling for him to accept others sometimes. I think they would really struggle to get along at first until their wives gave them a talking to and eventually they would sort their problems with each other out. Naveen Definitely chills out with his ego by the end of his movie but he's still very self assured and cocky at the end. Both of these men only calmed down after being forced to by impressive and firey women.
@@whoevenknows762meh. I don’t consider the series canon bc of the weirdly unnecessary additions to the storyline and many people don’t. But you’re right that they probably wouldn’t get along. Two cocky people together? It would be very interesting to say the least lol. Tiana and Rapunzel would get along well I feel tho
@@lunarialoonatic i dont understand why they added so many unnecessary things :( the orig story already holds up on its own, also the art style is really cute but i keep coming back to the movie just to see og ryder
@@whoevenknows762I honestly disagree, they match, I totally see them goofing and joking around together, and they both changed soo much, from selfish to devoted and caring. Idk they give me similar vibes, and idk about Eugene but Naveen is very friendly so yeah
im surprised that people say they dont like tangled the show !! i honestly think its so good and respects the original material in an interesting way! may i ask what you feel is unnecessary?
To be fair, the beast was cannonically 11 years old when he was cursed (for not letting a stranger in his house) so he probably hasn't interacted with another human since then. It's not surprising that he is not good around people and feels threatened by strangers showing up at the castle again. Man is traumatized🥲
he was cursed for leaving someone to basically freeze to death out in the bitter cold and she turns out to be a magical woman who won’t let him get away with being a selfish rude unkind jerk and I often found “strangers” I saw and/or met when I’ve went to a foreign country:(one I’ve been to for like the fourth time until I returned last month after I’ve spent 11 months):on the other side of the planet to have been idk nicer kinder friendlier idk maybe just somehow better than my kinda irritating immediate family like ever since like 2 years ago I’ve been thinking of getting married to get the heck away from them sorry my comments sometimes get kinda long
He was an 11 year old spoiled brat, but still it’s stranger danger and he tried to apologize but not only does the enchantress curse him but everyone who works for him so yeah I say the enchantress was the evil one
Just want to clarify I don’t think he’s actually eleven since while lumiar says ten years we’ve been rusting but they say that the rose will BLOM until his 21st year and now all the petals are starting to fall off. So, he could have been a teenager and ten years still worked becuase I don’t know how long a magic rose takes to bloom but I doubt it’s that long.
In Philip's defense for the kiss, he should be totally aware of the curse on Aurora as well as how to break it, because he was there when all of that happened during Aurora's christening at the start of the film, never mind the fact that Maleficent also mentions it when she is taunting him in her dungeon.
Actually we know for sure he knows, because with the scene with Maleficint, she flat out spells it out to him (whether he knew it before or not). That was her whole monologue was twisting it to show she would let him fulfill the 'gift' Merryweather bestowed, but only after she kept him till he was an old feeble man. That's actually one of the things that made her the best Disney villain, she was going to let the hero's 'win' in a way that was a loss and mockery of all they believed in. A true demonstration of the futility of opposing her. ... Not to mention the fairies were right there. Like, we really think while he's making his way through the gates, courtyard, through the castle up into that tower, these ladies wouldn't have filled him in?
the whole cancelling disney princes for kissing a sleeping girl is stupid. its fairytales, true love's kiss is a thing with magic powers in fairytales, its not just a guy riding up on his horse like "ooh hot dead girl lemme put my lips on her!" the sleeping beauty one is even stupider bc they're literally already in love, if my bf close-mouthed kissed me while i was asleep id be like lol what r u drunk but i wouldn't act like he was a predator
@@Rinzeki02 yeah the original tale is like that but we're talking about the Disney version anyways so... Yeah, that doesn't really come up into the convo tho
@@Rinzeki02 But now that you brought it up, well, every original tale is messed up really bad it touches a lot of sensitive stuff but at the same time it seems like a lesson from those times, we should take in account that those were meant to be stories to scare people and give conscience about what was going on or what could happen to you if you do this or that with people you don't know, etc I guess we're just in this generation and not in theirs, maybe we don't understand and that's why But yeah the sleeping beauty one is really messed up, also the Rapunzel's it's also about r*pe its disgusting.

@@Night-Shade.yeah exactly. It annoys me when people call him a creep for kissing her even though Maleficent told him that that’s how he can wake her up (when she had him imprisoned). Of course he’s not going to stand over her unconscious body waiting for her to tell him he can wake her up lol.
@@anthony9595 yes ! Maleficent tell him that girl he fell in love in the woods was the same she cursed 16 years ago and is now under deep sleep that only he can end ! So he knows everything in this movie. No creep but good Disney hero
I feel like Eric deserve to be number 2 because: He’s clearly a selfless person who cared more about his crew and dog than himself. He has no red flags. Like no lying, no manipulation, no violence, no attitude, no toxic masculinity, no unwanted physical contact & no interest in dating “thousands” of women… He helps a strange mute girl who acts like she came from a cave (lol) and welcomes her to live in his home and dine with him and even drive his carriage, all without making romantic passes at her despite his clear attraction. Like literally the most humble prince ever, who knows how to be respectful and not abuse a power imbalance. Here’s the part everyone misses. He gives up chasing his idea of a perfect woman and decides he loves Ariel weirdness and all. He chooses her without her voice over his dream girl and Ursula literally had to put a spell on him to keep them apart. As soon as the spell is broken Eric goes back to being his awesome self, even facing a sea monster the size of a skyscraper with a weapon from the gods without any hesitation or magic tools of his own. He respects Ariel’s father and is a great father himself when he has a daughter. Honestly the only reason he’s not my number one is because he’s already perfect and I love a good character arch, plus I’m a sucker for the smolder.
"no interest in dating thousand of women" funny how when a women sleeps with a thousand men, feminists come running to empower her and defend her if anyone calls her slut. but if a men sleeps with a thousand women, suddenly its a "red flag".
I worked at Magic Kingdom for a while & I'm a qualified Disney Expert, so here's some fun facts: 1. Snow White's prince is named Florian. 2. The Beast's name is Adam. 3. Prince Phillip DID know about the curse because Maleficent told him when Aurora imprisoned him in the castle, so he knew she was cursed to sleep for eternity and he knew that true love's kiss would save her.
Of course Eugene deserves the highest marks (and Rapunzel is hands down the best disney film of ALL TIME), but *NAVEEN* has a character arc like no other and became someone who was truly worthy of Tiana and I literally live for the scene where after everything the still got married and decided to spend the rest of their lives together, omggggg Naveen will always be my #1!! ❤❤
I think all of the Disney movies between 1989-1994 are better than Tangled. That would include The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, and The Lion King. I know Gen Z is “built differently” so to speak, but I look at movies beyond than just bashing the heroines of 90s films (which is what I have noticed a lot of people from Gen Z like to do). I look at the plot, the supporting characters, the music, the messages, pacing, etc. The next Disney movies are very good but still feel sub-par to the movies from 1989-1994: Hercules is inaccurate but also really good as long as a person can separate fact from fiction (facts from the original fictional tale, that is!). Princess and the Frog was really good (I think it's just as good as Tangled, but it just doesn't receive the global support it deserves because...Well...I don't want to bring racism into it, but the box office numbers between Princess and the Frog and Tangled don't lie). Mulan also has SEVERAL good moments and good songs. I think the closest modern Disney movie of 1990s story quality is Moana. I love her and the movie! Aside, from the movies I’ve listed above, the other Disney movies are still good but fall short of top-notch storytelling and/or music in my eyes and ears. XD Most modern Disney feel too robotic for me-like the employees are scared to anger the public if they try pursuing what made the company so financially successful in the 1990s.
I love Prince Phillip, out of the Disney princesses and princes he is my fave. The absolute sass he shows to everyone. ‘But we’ve met before, you said so yourself, once upon a dream’ and then the stuff he says to his father about living in the past and stuff. He’s so fun.
That line always tickled me. "Now father, you're just living in the past...this is the 14th century!" Phillip is such a badass and a guy next door at the same time 😍
Especially as that movie is SO old… it‘s just unfair to compare it to the 90s or the modern movies which include much more lines… Philipp still managed to shine in such an ancient Movie 💖
I've always found Tarzan to be the most endearing Disney boy. His curiosity is really cute, and his desire to prove himself to his family just comes from a really wholesome place of wanting to be accepted despite his (perceived) shortcomings. He's smart and versatile in the way he solves problems, and he never lies. He just genuinely seems like he doesn't have a bad bone in his body, tbh. And the way that he is willing to learn from Jane but also to teach her and show her the beautiful things about his world is--in my opinion--a better version of the Pocahontas/John Smith ship dynamic where they're both actually good people lmao. Also he's a momma's boy and *unintelligible screaming* and he looks damn good in a suit and HE BROUGHT HER FLOWERS HOLY--.
They don't say so in the movies, but the Prince (Snow White), Prince Charming, and the Beast do have names. The Prince's name is Florian. Prince Charming's name is Henry. The Beast's name is Adam. Also, Beauty and the Beast's timeline is weird so you have to take into account some things that they mention. Like when Lumiere and Cogsworth say that they have been cursed for 10 years and the Beast has to find someone to love him by the time he turns 21 y/o. This implies that he was A CHILD when this witch asked him to let her into his home and he said no because "stranger danger" like he was likely taught. They may portray him like an adult in the opening scene of the movie but the timeline says otherwise.
Exactly and if you think about it, no matter what his age was in that scene, if he’s supposed to be so cruel, it’s weird he would open the door himself. Wouldn’t he make a servant do it? Adding into the account that he was a child, according to the song just makes the ones who are adults in this castle more at fault than anything both for the door as well as raising this kid
because as it’s literally narrated rather clearly explicitly at the very beginning of the early 1990s Beauty and the Beast although he had everything his heart desired he’s selfish rude and unkind forget “stranger danger” BS maybe if the ENCHANTRESS wasn’t that she probably could’ve frozen to death thanks to the heartless “stranger danger” BS excuse
I feel the need to throw in my favorite Eugene line: "Her hair glows. I didn't see that coming. The hair actually glows. WHY DOES HER HAIR GLOW?!" (to Pascal)
Elsa was apparently supposed to be the villain (like in the Snow Queen) bit then execs wanted to change that to appeal more to kids/sell more merch. So Hans' sudden personality change was due to them making him the villain at the last minute. Idk how accurate this theory actually is, bit it does explain why he genuinely seems to have fallen in love with Anna at the start, but then suddenly does a 180 at the end.
But there is a theory that the Rock trolls used their magic to make Hans Evil so Christoff could marry Anna Wich is why his change of personality is so unexpected and why the rock trolls were singing about Anna and Christoff getting married
@@shippergirl1000 No lie, that sounds so cool. I can just picture a scene where the rock trolls are standing above a sleeping Anna as they say a spell. Then one of them says something ominous about Hans being 'not so charming after all', and it fades to black. Then it just cuts to the next scene.
honestly i got upset when i heard that this was the original version of Frozen. It would’ve been really interesting to see how differently the story would’ve played out had Elsa been the villain.
Elsa originally being the villain is true. I specifically remember the start of Frozen promo, and one of the main trailers had the "thats no monster, thats my sister" line indicating elsa was the villain. Somehow they quickly changed that in the short time before the movie released cause I sat down in the theater ready to see elsa as a villain and it never happened, i remember being so confused
Personally I think you need to separate Prince Charming from the original Cinderella and Cinderella 2/3, because they’re basically different characters at this point. Because if that’s the case then Charming 2.0 is definitely in my top 3 list.
I don’t think they are basically different characters. Like in the first movie he barely got any character so you can’t say (besides the yawning when looking at all the girls who wanted to marry him)
My favorite part about Eric is that he's conflicted because he really wants to be with this woman who rescued him that he's put on a pedestal in his head, and ends up getting ready to choose the cute silent woman he found instead because he realizes that he's been having a good time with her, and doesn't really know anything about that other perfect woman. Underrated. Shang is still upper echelon.
One of the best Disney men to me is David and Nani from Lilo and Stitch. David doesn’t even have to improve throughout the entire movie. He’s just as he needs to be from start to finish. He understands that Nani is under too much pressure to be in a relationship, even though he has obvious feelings for her. Instead, he is just there for her and Lilo, not just because he likes Nani, but out of the kindness of his heart.
Also not the fact that he tried to kill Anna and tell everyone they married in secret so he could have the crown. But just that he was so stupid about it. He didn't even wait until she died to celebrate his victory.
It never occurred to me before but the slipper thing in Cinderella actually makes more sense if that was a way to narrow down the list of girls who could be the one Charming was interested in rather than a search for the first girl who fit. Also in defense of Eric, it actually makes sense that he doesn’t recognize Ariel not only because he didn’t see her face clearly when she saved him, but also because the one thing he remembers clearly about her is her singing voice. He had no reason to think the girl who can’t speak let alone sing is the same girl who saved him while singing.
and wasn't he actually super happy when Ariel shows up (as a human)? it was only when it revealed she had no voice to speak, let alone sing, that he thought it wasn't her, which is pretty understandable because Ariel couldn't even make a peep. it makes sense!
The Tangled series honestly makes Eugene EVEN BETTER. It's such a refreshing showcase of what a healthy relationship looks like. He listens to her, supports her, and gives her space when she needs it. We stan our boy Eugene.
Prince Charming in Cinderella III deserves an appreciation, when I was little I used to have a big adoration for him. Just like his name, he is charming
Naveen will always be my number one. His character development is just perfect and I feel like whenever I hear "Disney prince" he's the first one I think of
Love Prince Phillip so much, he gets such a bad rep because people just forget what happens in the movie and assume he’s got no personality like Charming and Mr. Snow White. Phillip is adorable and charming and I love the trope like you said about “forbidden romance but not actually realizing they’re engaged”
I totally understand why you put prince Hans above those other princes. Although he’s a terrible character, he is highly entertaining, and we get way more time with his character and information about his character than some of the other ones.
To defend the Beast a bit, they say he's been a beast for 10 years. The story says he has until he's 21 and the curse is almost permanent in the movie. If you subtract 10 from 21 or 20, you get 11 or 10. He was turned as a child
They expand Flynn Rider wonderfully in Rapunzel Tangled Adventure and its wonderful how devoted he is but not obsessive and how he really truly wants to be the man she deserves
In defense of the Prince (he's not my favourite either tbh) if you look back through the concepts for Snow White he was meant to have more personality but they found it very difficult to animate him 😅 they ended up using a lot of what was intended for his character for Prince Philip in Sleeping Beauty instead and there's actually a very sweet comic from Dark Horse which shows more of The Prince and he's very adorable there. And before anyone says it he's not in his 30's! Modern Gurlz has an excellent video debunking this rumor and I recommend checking it out. Also with the kisses in both Snow White and Sleeping Beauty idk but I thought of them as more goodbye kisses, there is a good chance Philip did know about the spell and how to break it from the fairies but if not they just seem like a final goodbye to me and not malicious 🤷🏻♀️
I honestly don't get why people have such problems with Snow Withe's kiss, it's just a light kiss on the lips to say goodbye to the one he loved. And it's not like Snow didn't liked him back, I meen there is an entire song called My Prince will come.
People love to dunk on the classic disney princesses stories and princes just because its what other people do now, most of them probably dont even remember the stories in itself, they just repeat
Another fun fact abt him is the animators had a difficult time drawing him so they changed the story to have him in it less. I think they used a decent amount of his original ideas for Phillip in Sleeping Beauty
Oh, for SURE it's Eugene being first and best prince ever. I love him so much! Every time the boat scene comes with the lanterns and the song, I literally cry. Because that scene is the most beautiful romantic scene in any Disney movie. ❤️
The Beast is my favorite prince. I mean he is my favorite movie. But genuinely I found his growth to be really compelling. And like major props to the artists and animators, they designed this beast who is believably frightening, but they also made him emote in some really adorable ways. He stands out so much from other Disney male leads that honestly I’m now kind of bummed that he turns human when his curse is broken. But hey I’m a weird monster-lover. It makes a lot more sense for the story and themes for him to change back.
He’s my favorite, too. There are just so many reasons why, it feels like his story is unique and ahead of it’s time because it wasn’t just about the Princess (I completely love Belle too, btw), it was about the prince, too. It was his story as much as it was hers. He had plenty to own up to, and he did it. In the end, yes it might have been fast, but if you look at the movie closet enough, you’ll realize they didn’t just fall in love in a matter of days or weeks. Belle stayed there for quite a while, judging by the weather changes. But that’s just my opinion and observation, kind of a small thing. He definitely has a great story ark and I love him as a Disney prince. I think he looked great as a beast and as a prince, just saying 🙃
He is the main charcter for me and also the most interesting in the whole movie. I love Belle to death but the beast's redemption is the plot of the movie
@@reneewarren9845 If I recall correctly, the opening narration says the rose will start to wilt by the time the prince turns 21, and Lumiere says the servants have been out of work for ten years during “Be Our Guest.” So the prince probably was just a bratty kid lol.
I know you said you weren’t taking the 3rd movie into consideration really but it is confirmed in the 3rd movie that Charming does know who Cindy is because when Anastasia is presented to him as the girl who fit the slippers he knows Anastasia wasn’t the girl he danced with. So yeah, he knows Cinderellas face w/o the magic
Also, can we point out that Henry (the Cinderella prince) knew Anastasia wasn't the girl he was looking for, but treated her with kindness and respect, anyway. Like, he knew she lied and that her mother and sister were gold diggers trying to snake their way into the palace, but he still treated her well.
The Prince in Snow White has always made more sense to me when I think of him as the Prince of Death. Think about it. She's a scullery maid in medieval times. She's not living long the way her jealous step mother treats her. The Prince of Death comes to take her, and she's of course frightened of death and the great unknown. That's why we're kept from knowing anything about him. But he's captivated by her beauty and let's her go for a little bit longer, thinking he's doing her a kindness, since she's so scared. But then he realizes his mistake when the plot to cut out her heart gets to him. It doesn't happen, because he's not there, and instead she is hidden for a time from him by dwarves, magical beings that are as good at hiding things as dragons, perhaps even someone supposed to die? He searches everywhere for her and eventually finds her and gives her the kiss of death. She dies. But after death, there is no fear anymore. She's happy to see him again and meets him as a long awaited rest. That's why the castle he takes her to looks like it's in the clouds, because it is. It's Heaven. She's finally at peace.
idk doesn’t she sing someday my prince will come? and clearly when he kisses her she WAKES UP AND LIVES HAPPILY EVER AFTER WITH HIM maybe THAT makes much more sense to me than the whole “prince of death kiss of death” stuff
For Hans, I actually put a lot of stock into the theory that the trolls turned him into a villain. Watch Hans behavior before vs after the scene where grown up Anna meets the trolls. During that scene, in Fixer Upper, they find out Anna is engaged and end that section with “Get the fiancé out of the way and the whole thing will be fixed.” They then proceed to immediately start a wedding ceremony for Anna and Kristoff. Even though nothing on screen shows them ‘getting the fiancé out of the way’. But we know the trolls have magic. Also, in most folklore (from all over the world, really) that has creatures from the wild, those creatures are tricksters. This kind of behavior wouldn’t necessarily be out of character for them. Another note, from someone who has a ridiculous amount of siblings- I can absolutely see why Hans immediately latched onto someone who gave him attention. You don’t necessarily get a lot of attention growing up when there’s that many of you. Anna also showed compassion and trusted him with her kingdom and the movie absolutely DID show him stepping up. During his and Anna’s duet, he never once makes any kind of face that could be interpreted negatively, even though Anna is… singing about sandwiches. He really does seem to genuinely be into her. It all makes his smile under the boat make sense. I like Kristoff, don’t get me wrong, but I don’t think Hans was a villain of his own accord. TL,DR Hans actually loved Anna before the trolls turned him into a villain.
Considering Hans wasn’t intended to be the villain,Elsa was supposed to be originally but then Let it Go was created and Disney changed the narrative and Hans was now the villain. So I really like the Troll theory a lot and feel it makes more sense to me with how they did his character.
Wasn’t the beast a literal child when he was turned? I feel like a part of his humanity was stripped from him growing up into an adult as a beast. It does seem like a red flag the way he yells & acts, but his only communication was with talking furniture for most of his life. He probably thought he was going crazy tbh. Seeing Maurice come into his castle he probably thought it was a trick & just flipped out. Then Belle comes in & she takes her fathers place. It probably confuses the beast because he didn’t grow up with parents or understand that kind of bond. Belle was an outcast in her village & the beast was an outcast to basically the whole world. They were more alike than they knew & they helped each other in a way. I’m not saying He’s the best because he’s not, but maybe he deserves a little bit of slack.
Yeah, according the the intro the last petal would fall on his 21st birthday, and according to Be Our Guest they had been cursed for 10 years. So Beast was cursed as a 10 year old, and had spent half of his life (and all of his teen age years) cursed.
@@johncox7169 oh that really also changes how his initial asshole act that got him turned into a beast in the first place comes across. Who is this witch who thought 'only true love, isolation and some body horror will fix this one' when a 10yo boy was a dick to her.
"I lost her once, I'm not gonna loose her again!" I freakin love Prince Eric! He's been my Disney Prince from day 01. He's just so outgoing. His personality, his hobbies, the way he treated Ariel even when she couldn't speak... (Also I love that he doesn't take his royalty role seriously lol. He just wants to explore the world and be normal). And ofc just like you said, he's the reason for the movie's happy ending. He risked it all for her. He deserves the recognition and love
Prince Charming had so much more personality in the 3rd Cinderella movie (A twist in Time) which made me love him so much more in comparison to the first movie
I was looking for a comment on Cinderella 3, because many forget or who haven’t seen it, don’t realize that the whole question on if he recognized her face or if it was just because she fit the shoe is answered in the 3rd film once he sees a different person.
Prince Phillip is my no. 1. He's romantic, he's a warrior, and he's a man that knows what he wants and is willing to fight for it or defy his family for it.
If you consider Beast may have been transformed when he was only a child, his immature behavior and his growth makes more sense. Be Our Guest says they've been stuck for ten years, and the rose wilts on his 21st year, so was he changed when he was only 11? Growing up alone, as a monster? Then Belle comes along and teaches him how to be civilized.
So glad you gave Eric the recognition he DESERVES!!! He has been my day one, literally feel in love with just as quick as Ariel and yes every time he has the line my heart melts to the bottom of the ocean
I live Flynn, Naveen, Eric, and Kristoff for the reasons you stated, but I will say that I love Shang too because he's strong, can sing, can fight, lets Mulan live, he actually smiles at Mulan's growth in training, admits it was a good idea to Mulan about the snowy mountain thing, he's actually concerned about her, and he helps with HER plan in the end. He knows she can handle herself but is willing to help protect her if needed, but he doesn't try to protect her all the time because he's seen what Mulan can do, and I just love him so much
I'm glad my boy Eric got so high on the list. He doesn't get enough credit. He's just a in general stand up dude, and Ariel is honestly pretty lucky that the handsome man she fell for turned out to be pretty cool. That story could have turned out really bad if Eric turned out to be a jerk. He's not the best Disney prince, because Flynn and Aladdin exist, but he's a good one.
For the Hans unexplained smile, I like the theory of troll magic messing with his mind. He fell for her, but they wanted to get rid of Kristoff's competition.
YES I love repunzel’s short hair. I think the people complaining that it’s too short put too much value in to women’s “long feminine hair” idk it makes me feel icky 😭 the whole point of it was to do a 180 from super long hair to super short hair
Actually Disney confirmed some Time ago that Snow Whites Prince' name is Florian, so he technically has a name but no one ever calls him by his name :D
Apparently snow White's Prince was called Prince Florian and Cinderellas Prince was called Henri. It's strange how they just put a few Prince's under the name Prince Charming. Also The Beasts character I think makes it worse that he is no longer human so he has changed more in to an animal which they show with his table manners and how he changes from crouching on all fours to standing on two feet. I feel like Belle wasn't just the girl needed to break the spell but I think she was also the person to change his quality inside before he could change physically outside.
Yeh you are right about beast, that is the entire point of the movie. Beast or Addam is a terrible person than needs to change for the better. He is intentionaly mean at the start, but Belle dosen't suck it up and puts him back in his place, but he than starts to follow Belle's example and by the end of the movie has become a good person.
@@nuotatorre8741 yes exactly he is a spoilt Prince always getting his way he needed to learn his lesson before being able to be human and he needed to care and love others around him and not just demand respect. I'm glad someone sees this too
Actually for me I can't really blame the Prince from Beauty and the Beast cause if you see when he was cursed he was a child and I don't know why will anyone do that to a child. I didn't find him arrogant he was a kid who didn't let a stranger in. And after being cursed, he became like that because he was isolated for so long. He had to almost grow up on his own with just cups and dishes for company. I think u he had trust issues too and was afraid of letting people get closer which made him seem rude. But Belle, instead of getting scared stayed there and stood up to him which ig made him realise his problem and Belle being there helped him to recover from trauma that he had and by the end he became better when he was turned. So yes, I don't think that it was Stockholm syndrome like the internet likes to say. It's more of healing kind of story. It's just my pov anyways. Also I'm talking about the animated one here not the live action (I don't like it).
@@thegreenjellybean77 I don't think the beast is blamed for anything but in the narrative at the beginning of the movie they do explain that the Prince was selfish and unkind. He said the old woman was ugly and that's what made him turn her away instead of inviting her in when she asked for shelter and he sneered at a simple rose gift. It's why he tried to apologise to her when she revealed she was a beautiful enchantress. The enchantress only changed him because he viewed only the outside appearance as important so she turned him "ugly" so he would learn when he wouldn't find anyone who loved him with his appearance and do what he did to her. Also it's hard to say if the beast was a child in different pieces of information that is floating on the internet some say he was 11 and others think time had stopped everyone. Something that makes it seem as if time would have stopped is the fact that chip is a young child in cup form and so would have already been a child before transformation and they say he is only 7. One other thing is the staff would have aged alot if they were older then the Prince. If the Prince was 11 then they all would have already been adults when they transformed and if they were getting older they wouldn't look the way they did because otherwise the Prince would have been in a castle of children. I didn't mind both the original and the new version which is quite rare considering most Disney live actions I have not enjoyed that much
@@rexxy5 Actually you can see the prince was a child in the animation when he was cursed and transformed back. Also he was supposed to find love by the time he is 21 which means he does age (maybe only he does). Also I find it disturbing that the enchantress just turns innocent children into cups for no reason. Also if you want to teach a child about appearance and selflessness, there are other ways than turning them into a beast and isolating him taking into into the fact that he has a dead mother and an absent father (I read that somewhere so idk if it's true). The enchantress really creeps me out.
Naveen and Flynn are the best. I love how in The Beauty and the beast he is the one who has to change because he is a jerk at the start, not Belle. She knows what she wants and she didn't stay in the castle to be his friends but because it's magic and she wants adventure
Eugene/Flynn is definitely my favorite prince. His character growth is amazing and you know you love a character and a movie a lot when you rewatch the movie over 15 times 😂
Mulan is my favorite Disney movie (as of now), and I really love Mulan and Shang’s relationship, because you have to remember that it developed in a time when women were seen as inferior to men, and yet Shang has so much respect for Mulan, even after discovering she’s a girl. The rare mutual respect is so beautiful! As for the instrument Eric is playing, it’s definitely a woodwind instrument. The silver coloring would suggest that it’s a flute (I would know, I play flute!). However, the angle he’s holding it at isn’t very clear, but I believe it is the wrong hold for the flute. But no other woodwind instrument is silver like the flute, so… I have no clue. Wish I could hear the volume in that scene, that might help. And I love Eugene and Rapunzel’s relationship too! He changes for her - she makes him better, so much better, and it’s beautiful to watch him grow. Of course, other princes did that for their loves too, but this one sticks out to me. Maybe it’s the incredible animation, I freaking loved it! Lots of good hair practice for Disney animators, too!
I think one other thing that makes Eugene so iconic is his sense of humour. That makes me feel like he actually has a personality and character other than just a love interest coming to save her
I don't mind The Prince from Snow White as he was more so created to represent happy endings after tragedy and hard work reflecting the time in which the movie was made (after WWI & during the Great Depression). It's really beautiful symbolism in my opinion. But yeah, as a face value love interest he isn't great.
@@olivia_brookes There's a video that debunks those ages. Snow White and her prince don't have official ages in the movie and the ages were made up by the internet.
I saw this really awesome documentary on Snow White a while ago that recontextualized the prince (and the entire movie) for me. It's by There Will Be Fudd and it theorizes that the reason why Snow White was such a Big Deal was because it was an (unintentional?) metaphor for life improving after the Great Depression. Highly recommend!
this is such a great list! i always appreciate disney fans who don't hesitate to bring up the issues with pocahontas, and i think i have the exact same rankings as you. kristoff is the perfect man and deserves so much more hype lol
I'm surprised David from Lilo & Stitch didn't get an honorable mention. He's very supportive of Nani throughout the movie, does his best to help her out despite the rough situation she is in trying to raise Lilo. He shows clear interest in Nani even after she brushes him off (and understandably, due to her current situation) and steps up where he can to help. Not to mention that he stays around even after the movie's conflict resolves. David is 100% a disney guy I would want to date. He's just all around a great guy.
Phillip does know what he's doing. Maleficent lays everything out to him explicitly when she taunts him about letting him go to break the curse only after he's aged 100 years while Aurora remains in stasis.
The Beast should be higher up...he is a victim of the evil enchantress after all. She cursed an 11 year old CHILD for not letting a stranger into the castle. If you were cursed as a CHILD for doing what your parents told you to do, you would be angry too. The fact that he was able to recover from such evil shows that he has a good heart after all.
Let's face it Eugene is the standard. But I would've loved to see Dimitri (Anastasia) as well in this list. I can't say so easily what's so awesome about him, but I really do love his character and the development he made.
@@itsrazielle7285 yea but even if he was an actual disney prince it probably wouldnt be in the list Like Cuzco, is some kind of monarch so he is a prince and Jack Skellington cuz he is literally halloween's king and she didnt included
I also love Flynn Ryder. He looks almost like an animated version of that guy from Taylor Swift's Love Story music video, but the one thing about him I'm not so crazy about is his little chin beard. Like, if it weren't for that, he'd be a solid 10.
My number one Disney guy is Aladdin! His movie was my favorite when I was a kid and I just love how relatable he is. There are some people who want everything in the world but once he had it all, he realized that it all came with strings attached. Jasmine is also my favorite Disney Princess! I love her fierceness and the fact that she knows her worth and is very smart in tricking Jafar. When I eventually get married and have kids, if I have a daughter, I really want to name her Jasmine after Jasmine lol
My top 3 is: 1. Aladdin - I love him so much he just has my whole heart. Everything about him is perfection to me and even though he has trouble telling Jasmine the truth I feel like it's due to him thinking she might not like him since he's a peasant and she's a princess. His personality is just the best too. 2. Eugene - Everything you said in the video sums up how I feel about him. I love thieves (which is why him and Aladdin are my top two) and flirts as well as bad boys so he's everything I love in one. 3. Naveen - I used to not like him too much when I wad little, but I've fallen for just how romantic and sweet he is with Tiana later on in the movie. My favorite scene personally is when Tiana teaches him how to make gumbo, and she shows him how to slice the mushroom. It's perfection tbh.
Yes, Eugene's priority when literally bleeding to death and trying to save the woman he has fallen in love with is to give her a nice haircut. Totally reasonable demand from the fandom.
Well Belle was there for months the 2nd movie shows more of what happened during that time also its like I would definitely have a attitude problem if I knew everyone I know could forever be house objects and I a beast.
In the tangled show, we find out that Eugene's real name is Horace, which results in single-handedly one of the greatest lines from him ever. "...how is it possible...that my real name...IS WORSE THAN EUGENE!"
The Prince from Snow White is most commonly believed to be named Prince Florian. Disney France gave him this name and it is used for Disney on Ice and a limited edition pin set that UK Disney marketed as "Snow White and Prince Florian." (There is also a rumor that official artwork and documents in the Walt Disney Archives refer to him as "Frederick.") He was intended to have a greater role in the story, but they found him too hard to animate, lmao.
Flynn Rider is such a green flag but he's so real and imperfect at the same time. That makes this character so iconic

Best Disney prince …. No one will ever be better …. He’s just … sigh
Ikr😂he is so smooth and funny
I’ve always thought Eugine cutting rapunzels hair /so/ short is symbolic of how for him her hair isn’t what makes her special. Her whole life it has been her long golden hair that she is “loved” for, but Flynn loves her for who she is with or without it. If he had cut it to an average, still long length I think it would’ve lost its symbolism a bit. It’s more like shackles, tripping her up and weighing her down - he cut her free:)
This is probs me reading too far into it all lol but I think it makes a lot of sense!

This is a really good point.
It was also probably easier to animate
Also when he looks at her he always brushes her hair out of her face, unlike mother gothel who always checks rapunzel’s hair first.

He really jumped out that window into my heart man
“Jump off the balcony” 😭
I really think the character of Cinderella is underrated in that film. She has a lot of what I'd call passive strength, which is an undervalued trait that I appreciate a lot in female characters who are stuck in bad circumstances. Sansa had it in the books and in the earlier seasons of Game of Thrones.
Not to mention the way he does it his comedy gold
"DON'T TAKE ANOTHER STEP DOWN THOSE STARES!"

Prince hanz is a bad person but he’s actually a super important character because to my knowledge he’s the first villain that actually shows us that falling in love with a man in seconds isn’t always a good call which is a great lesson for children to learn
He was basically a necessary evil
Except then falls in love with Kristoff after knowing him like a day so still not much
@@jasonjones3328 they don’t even say I love you in the first movie.

Wow, didn't notice that at first😊 Thanks!
the fact they perfected the disney prince formula with eugene and kristoff and then never made another love interest for any of their leading ladies/princesses annoys me so much
While I love that we’re past, needing a man to save the damsel in distress, or needing a love interest, I think it would be interesting if Disney took another new approach, reversing the Disney princess trope, and having it be Disney princes, who fall in love with a princess, or get saved by a female or male love interest, a reverse on the classic where they are, the damsel in distress or need rescuing by a princess or female, I think this could make for some really great and interesting characters and stories, bringing a new generation of Disney princes. We already had this a little bit with movies like Aladdin and Tarzan, where they were the main characters, but I think it would be interesting if Disney made movies like that for awhile because it’s a very unique spin on the story that really changes perspectives. I’m surprised this hasn’t been done yet.

How do you beat these two?

As he should 🐶🔥
I feel like Eric deserve to be number 2 because:
He’s clearly a selfless person who cared more about his crew and dog than himself.
He has no red flags. Like no lying, no manipulation, no violence, no attitude, no toxic masculinity, no unwanted physical contact & no interest in dating “thousands” of women…
He helps a strange mute girl who acts like she came from a cave (lol) and welcomes her to live in his home and dine with him and even drive his carriage, all without making romantic passes at her despite his clear attraction.
"no interest in dating thousand of women"
funny how when a women sleeps with a thousand men, feminists come running to empower her and defend her if anyone calls her slut. but if a men sleeps with a thousand women, suddenly its a "red flag".

I worked at Magic Kingdom for a while & I'm a qualified Disney Expert, so here's some fun facts:
Rei (Kilala Princess Manga), Eugene (Tangled), & Naveen (Princess & the Frog) are the 3 Perfect Princes.
I think Naveen is better than Eugene. And he wasn’t a thief first of all.
Tangled isn't the best Disney film of all time, you just really enjoy it. I like it, too.
@@hellopumpkin86 what would you say it is? Not counting Star Wars or marvel
The next Disney movies are very good but still feel sub-par to the movies from 1989-1994:
Hercules is inaccurate but also really good as long as a person can separate fact from fiction (facts from the original fictional tale, that is!).
XD
Most modern Disney feel too robotic for me-like the employees are scared to anger the public if they try pursuing what made the company so financially successful in the 1990s.
I love Prince Phillip, out of the Disney princesses and princes he is my fave. The absolute sass he shows to everyone. ‘But we’ve met before, you said so yourself, once upon a dream’ and then the stuff he says to his father about living in the past and stuff. He’s so fun.
Although Eugene is a super close second
YAS Prince Phillip appreciation!
That line always tickled me. "Now father, you're just living in the past...this is the 14th century!" Phillip is such a badass and a guy next door at the same time 😍

@@dancingsun2 I vaguely remember that too! Also a promo that made it seem like it was more about Olaf and Sven (or maybe just Sven).

I like that when listing Hans's flaws, you said his sideburns before saying he's two-faced and power-hungry 😂

His character development is just perfect and I feel like whenever I hear "Disney prince" he's the first one I think of
I ADORE Naveen so much, he's the best imo
Also, he does have a name. It's apparently Florian. They just never say it in the movie.
My problem is that Snow White is 14 and the prince is 31
Even if he's not in his 30s he could well be in his 20s. So he's a 20-something guy kissing a 14-year-old girl without consent
The prince from Snow White apparently does have a name: Florian
Florian was 31 Snow White was 14
Another fun fact abt him is the animators had a difficult time drawing him so they changed the story to have him in it less. I think they used a decent amount of his original ideas for Phillip in Sleeping Beauty

So yeah, he knows Cinderellas face w/o the magic
Also, can we point out that Henry (the Cinderella prince) knew Anastasia wasn't the girl he was looking for, but treated her with kindness and respect, anyway. She's finally at peace.
wow this is such an amazing analogy, gives a whole new meaning to the movie. actually I like this story better than the whatever the original is.
idk doesn’t she sing someday my prince will come? and clearly when he kisses her she WAKES UP AND LIVES HAPPILY EVER AFTER WITH HIM maybe THAT makes much more sense to me than the whole “prince of death kiss of death” stuff
Dimitri deserves a shout out. That boy was the blue print for Flynn Ryder and he wasn’t even originally Disney.

Zachary Levi was perfectly picked for the voice of Eugene. I can't imagine anyone else voicing him in the movie and the show.
Flynn sacrificing his life to save Rapunzel from life in slavery will never be matched. Top quality husband material.
wait wym
Naveen and Flynn are the best.
I love how in The Beauty and the beast he is the one who has to change because he is a jerk at the start, not Belle. She knows what she wants and she didn't stay in the castle to be his friends but because it's magic and she wants adventure
Eugene/Flynn is definitely my favorite prince. His character growth is amazing and you know you love a character and a movie a lot when you rewatch the movie over 15 times 😂
I love how you said "from trash" but really tried to bring up their better traits even if they were at the bottom
I think it's a pennywhistle, an instrument very common on ships at that time.
@@Shasta--1 Thanks, that’s nice to know!
… he was 32 and Snow White was 14
@@olivia_brookes in the original story.
@@olivia_brookes There's a video that debunks those ages. Snow White and her prince don't have official ages in the movie and the ages were made up by the internet.
@@lindanguyen6972 omg thank you, I'm so fed up of people throwing this around like dude is clearly not 30 😅
His name is Prince Florian. Edit: or so I thought.
"from trash to Flynn Rider" 100% right he's boyfriend goals
I love Eugene so much. He and Rapunzel's relationship and their characters made Tangled my favorite movie. I love them so much
"He loves ice, it's his life. I love a guy with interests"
He's not from Disney though
@@ia490 Anastasia is now on Disney+, so technically he could be included too
@@itsrazielle7285 yea but even if he was an actual disney prince it probably wouldnt be in the list
Like Cuzco, is some kind of monarch so he is a prince and Jack Skellington cuz he is literally halloween's king and she didnt included
God, now you HAVE HAVE HAVE TO rank disney princesses, I think it would be so fun!
Your joyous, innocent, and slightly chaotic charm is so fun to watch as always. Just now realizing how dear your videos have become to me ❤
I also love Flynn Ryder. He looks almost like an animated version of that guy from Taylor Swift's Love Story music video, but the one thing about him I'm not so crazy about is his little chin beard. Like, if it weren't for that, he'd be a solid 10.
In defense of Beast... if I were cursed and turned into a literal monster, I'd have some anger issues too.
Oh no! I’m so sorry you’re sick Caitlin! I hope you get to feeling better soon!♥️
My top 3 is:
This right here is the one true ranking
I feel like Ive been waiting my whole life for this video.
I have no idea what the ranking is but my boy Flynn and Eric better be somewhere good 🥰
You should totally rank the Disney princesses! ngl that would be so fun to watch
nah but prince charming is ICONIC in the sequals LIKE HES AN ICON
I think Phillip knew that the kiss would break Aurora’s curse because of what Maleficent told when he was locked up in her dungeon.
"...how is it possible...that my real name...IS WORSE THAN EUGENE!"
doesn't he mention it in the original film too?
The Prince from Snow White is most commonly believed to be named Prince Florian. Disney France gave him this name and it is used for Disney on Ice and a limited edition pin set that UK Disney marketed as "Snow White and Prince Florian."
(There is also a rumor that official artwork and documents in the Walt Disney Archives refer to him as "Frederick.")
He was intended to have a greater role in the story, but they found him too hard to animate, lmao.
