Before joining an MMA gym u only need to know one thing. First time you’re gonna leave your soul in there
Thanks bully Maguire.🙏🏽
I got a looooong way to go according to those charts. But I'm not gonna stop now.
Little by little I'll train hard to be as good as you or even better. Greetings from the Philippines Shane.
I love it, Sean! Make it happen, brotha!
+fightTIPS Shane this Monday I'm start I ng wrestling should I be scared of how people are buffer than me and I'm in high school
fightTIPS scan you please do fight like coban lookchaomaesaitong or enriko kehl?
any updates?
hello, how is it going
On Sunday, I was finally able to break 20 consecutive jumps without failing. You have no idea how proud I am of that, since when I started back in January, I couldn't do 2 successful jumps.
Congrats, Art! See that: consistency is key, even for the uncoordinated ;)
LOL!
fightTIPS how old do you have to be to compete in Muay Thai, I'm 13
Keep up the good work Shane. One of my favorite channels.
You are very consistent and precise with examples and how you explain things.
Thank you for posting this the same day i joined my local gym, great timing bruh!
Thank you Shane, you inspire me to workout and become fit and healthy. Thank you you dont no how much fight tips means to me
Are the pushup and squat table mixed up? Because 55 pushups and 35 squats don't seem like a right ratio to me.
mattikus Yeah, especially with proper form and speed push-ups. 55 push-ups would be extraordinarily impressive, whereas 35 squats is doable.
that has gotta be proper form as well, not just the numbers
Mr Knarf yeah 35 squats is actually easy.55 pushups on the other hand seems unimaginable with chest touching the ground and with a reasonable pace.
.......standard is number of push ups in 2 minutes. The army pt test for someone 17-21 years old the minimum is 42 push ups in 2 minutes. To max the test, 71 is required. To be a competitive fighter, you should be able to do at least 100 pushups and sit ups as well as 100 squats in my opinion
Chest touching pushups are easy let your breathing guide your movement when doing them.
This is a very helpful video, thanks Shane
Thank you for these video shane,i train muay thai and these videos are very helpful for me. I've earned alot from you.
Those flexibility fail buzzes cut deep into my soul! Haha but I've given up on landing head kicks anyway lol
This is exactly what I was looking for! 🙏🙏😤
I'm 11 Ive done moay thai for 3 months and my teachers are impressed with me so id like to thank you shane :)
this really helped me thanks
What a great informative video. Subbed.
Thankyou for this vid👊🏻
How to become a super saiyan?
ExoGhost practice screaming for long periods of time is my best advice
100 pushups , 100 sit-up , 1 glass orange juice every day
Call Boy push ups, sit-ups and lots of juice
😂😂😂
Have someone kill your close friend
Never did body weight squats till failure before. Gave me something to think about, thanks shane.
great content bro.
seguo tuoi videi , sei veramente bravo ragazzo , keep it up
sup Shane love your videos👌
I had best on everything... Except the stretches 😂😂
Euan Robert so true 😂
I was thinking yeah I'm all good then the stretching came...
😂 that’s hilarious, Omg that’s so funny I’m dying 😂🤣😅
I had the best on everything except for the run lol
this is what i was finding for
Please do a heel hook tutorial!! I want to be THAT guy.
Thanks man. Was looking to join a local gym (for Mauy thai) once I got my license and this is a big help
Thanks for this! Only problem I had was that touching toes from sitting point thing, as I have freakishly long legs relative to arms.
i joined the gym without being able to do a proper push up or skip properly and i definitely wasn't that flexible but i joined a gym anyway and could do these easily within a month or two, don't be put off if you can't do these when you start. Especially if you go to your first few sessions with a friend.
Never really tried to jump rope before, Usually replace it with a hybrid plyo squat thrust burpee for maximum leg activation with ballistic movement. Great for takedown shots.
Anyhoo, jumping rope was never something I figured out as a child. Jumping rope is right up there with learning how to swim, and to dispose of the weight of guilt. Lol. So I will definitely give jumping rope a try! Its good to learn new things
I saw a Thai boxer training in the gym I use in Bangkok... the guy made the damn brick wall shake on the uppercut bag.
Fair to say he was fit like a boss.
Hey bro, a video showing you how to train alone to be prepared for fighting (personal defense), with both exercise and technique please.
this helped me as a fighter lol i am an over achevier who wouldn't be for TAM it's TAM have to be ready for the next level. love mma love wrestling. love staying in shape. ice bath ppl
My gosh, pt evolutions for the fucken win
Hey Shane great video wanted to know I've recently joined a Muay Thai gym just to get in shape and I've had some past experience in martial arts but I've recently had a wicked lower pain in my tailbone what do you recommend?
my flexibility and two mile time sucks
hurricane
To improve your 2 mile time I would recommend running super long distances at a slow pace on off days, running half miles intervals at your goal 2 mile pace about twice a week, and try your 2 mile run at top speed about once a week.
Same here. I can get 'BEST' in sit-ups, push-ups and squats but I'm sure I won't pass the 2-mile run and I can barely go over my knees with my legs straight when stretching......
neville grech same here but only my agility sucks the rest i pass easely
Well, I can’t even do a single push-up, nor a pull-up, and I’m *14!*
Tbh my main worry is gassing when I'm exercising 😂😂
Well I was going to be joining an mma gym tomorrow but thanks to this video it looks like I have to do all these things first so now I'm not. Thanks.
Flexibility is the oddest thing. I've been training martial arts on regular basis (4-5 times a week) since I was 6 but I cannot stretch for shit. After I put way more emphasis on it for the past 3yrs I noticed some slight improvement but it's still subpar...But as long as it does not hinder my performance I am okay with it.
Can you do a shoulder flexibility video if you don't already have one?
I injured my right shoulder a while back and lost all flexibility to it, it seems.
I'm unsure which movment(s) I should be focusing on when considering MMA training.
I'd say it depends on your weight class. A welterweight needs to be more agile than a heavyweight while a heavyweight must have more strength than a welterweight.
But that test is pretty good, even though my running endurance sucks while I can punch for what feels like hours
I'm 16 and this works perfect.
MAN, I GOTTA GET MY ARSE IN SHAPE!!!!
Rope skipping is a learned skill. Make sure you do NOT use it as a cardio exercise when you begin! This is absolutely one of the exercises you want to be practicing before you go into a gym. Once you have a certain level of proficiency, you can start adding tricks and use it as a cardio workout. Glad to see that hammered in the video, but here it is again in the comments just in case you missed it.
Shoosh
THANKS
Should I use a protractor to measure 100°?
Ya
Olgierd Von Everec nah a thermometer
Shane I have the same shoes as u in the skipping video but in red
I'm doing a Cert 3/4 in Fitness at the moment. So yay for personal trainers.
Good move, congratulations! Remember to always stay eager to learn more. Wish you all the best.
***** Thanks, I don't think I will ever stop being in the education system. I also want to learn nutrition, law and psychology, so that will last a while.
notification squad!!
I can do most of this stuff, but the running is what gets me. I used to do cross country and did decent, but I can barely run a mile without stopping now... lol
Makoto same
Look up the Wim Hoff breathing technique, do it before you run. You'll see a big improvement. :)
Hey I think I have a costochondritis because of heavy weighted dips I did last year.
Still have that little pain in the sternum area so doing pushup would just make it worst, have any Idea? I never had trouble to do push ups but with that condition I try to avoid it.
I am about to join a Muay Thai gym. Thank you.
I did pretty good. Cross Country season just ended lol.
can you pls do also one for boxing
Agon Abdurahmani This video also applies to boxing as well... The purpose of this exam is to increase your endurance. Do the exam, expose your weak points, conquer them.. All this should reinforce the speed of your advancement as a beginner as BOXER/ Pretty much anything physically demanding
Javon Antoine OK I will, thx for the information brother :)
Agon Abdurahmani NP man good luck 😎
if it helps when I joined boxing he made me wait a week or two and told me to do a a good amount (I forgot the number) of push-ups, sit-ups,and squats three times a day and run 20 minutes every day only taking one rest day a week before I joined or I'd die in class lol
wate nallace lol, thanks for the information brother it is really useful :)
Got 16:07 for the 2mile run. First time I've ran in years, hopefully crack the 13s by the end of the year.
Did u
How would i go about improving on the flexibility excercises?
squats and situps i will do much more then the best option
strength and endurance training are my jam (still training for flexibility yikes), but I've never tried jump ropes in my 16 years of existence LMAO.
man... the army fitness test is pretty close to this minus the jump rope and flexibility portion
damn. flexibility got me beat
Sup my man
Hey Shane What if I Dont jump rope ? I Still am Great At Sparring Though. I Last and am still fairly new
I have terrible flexibility but I would like to join a gym. I was told the older you are the harder it is to start to become flexible. is this true? I'm 26 y/o male
thanx
Hey shane, i have a little problem, i can do very hard exercises, i can do pullups with weights, muscle-ups one leg squats and other of the hardest calistenics exercise but when it comes to cardio i'm very crap, i train like 7 times per week, 3 conditioning exercises and 4 martial arts training(pretty challenging on cardio). but i still struggle a lot with cardio, this summer i trained 5-6 days a week and after every training i ran 1km in a very bad time(like a little under 5 minutes) and i gased out, never could ran more than 1 km. I mention im 21y old and i have a decent diet(a lot of proteins, low carbs, no junk food or soda etc.). Any ideea why?
Can you do this exact video but for joining a boxing gym?
Well i'm happy to say i'm early but not first😄
The hardest thing for me will be touching my fingers on my back
2:23 how to do this stretch ?
Dope 👍🏾
Thanks man!
fightTIPS no prob bro
My flexibililty sucks. I hate it, my friends are more flexible but I always stretch more and ought to handle the pain.
I can’t join a gym tomorrow... corona has done us 😂
jesus christ there is at least a mile between my fingers when i try to touch them behind my back. i have knowledge with shadowboxing and basic fighting concepts though. Also it feels like the metal bar on my clavicle impedes some of my range of motion, specifically with that touching of fingers.
can u do vide on how to get out of a arm bar
I can do like 32 push ups , more than 35 squats without failure , and 30 situps and i also nailed all streching exercises and im stil a teenager and i workout i should do mma
nice
Mike Tyson once said he only did callisthenics, I was wondering if you'd recommend to do primarily calisthenics for boxing strength and conditioning instead of weights
Just a question, anyone know how to improve flexibility?
can you show us how to do the Dempsey role
Do you usually recommend full squats or 90° squats?
does anyone know if there is a time limit for the push-up and sit-ups? I'm guessing it's a one minute test but I'm not sure
Is it advicable to take protien shakes if im a MMA fighter??or training over it?
I can do it all
the only one i don't score best on is the mile and jump rope and in that case i scored okay
I'm not that flexible because for my scoliosis but I wanna get into MMA
I can do the pushup easy, never learned rope but I have one and I will cuz I learn quick, running I hate but I know I can do it, sit up easy, I'm really bad at flexibility tho.
Damn, I checkout better than I thought
I have a question, can someone who isn't as big as their opponent still have a chance at winning? Whether it be a difference in muscle or just size in general.
If you change the running to biking how many miles should you do in what time
Jab Cross counters plss
Can you clarify what "Squats to Failure" entails?
I can touch my left and and right arm when my right hand is behind my back an my left hand is going over my body but not vice versa. How do I make my left arm more flexible?
I can only touch my fingers when my left arm is on the bottom. Not the other way around. Is there something wrong with my right shoulder? There is no pain. But there is limited mobility.
what can i fill up in my punching bag?
CRAZY GAMER all purpose sand
What about pull ups? I pride myself on my amount of pull ups.
Am I disabled some way if jump rope was really hard for me at age 10 and ever since?
Is there a time limit for the calisthenics? One minute? Two minutes?
My avg pace per mile is 9 min and 5 sec per mile i gotta work hard
aye shane bro ive been watching You for a while and i sign up for boxing recently Because i realize Im very weak amd not trained I almost got into a Fight the other day but i talked my way out of it even tho He bullied Me because im muslim. So please shane reply To me Please it would really make My day and at the same Time i will be getting tips From a pro. for Now Lioe nice video and i like how You went into detail Like and stay awesome shane! I see 1mill plaq Comming Your way man.
Biggest tip is get through the door and let the coach take over. Hardest part is getting through the door.
Eh, I don't believe this. The gym I go to didn't mind that I was completely out of shape when I started a little over a year ago, I was 260 ish. Because I said "should I do some workouts at my house before joining" and the owner looked right at me kind of serious, yet friendly and said "why do workouts to get in shape before coming to a place where you're going to get in shape, just jump into it man. No shame in weight, we don't judge, just do your best". I started the next day, no one judged or laughed at me. Here I am a year and ehh 3 months later, down to 165 eating a TON better and only drinking water, working out on my own, jogging and gym(muay thai, bjj, and boxing, weights). Just by jumping straight into it. So on this subject, I disagree with you Shane, no offense. Anyone overweight wanting to join any sort of gym, I say go for it and I'm more than happy for you to tell me how it goes! Good luck everyone starting their new journeys, and those that are furthering theirs!
You and your coach do have a point, but if I only trained at the gym/dojo, I wouldn't have made the gains that I have made thus far. Martial arts begins in the training room, what ever you would call it, and continues beyond its walls.
The FitnessGram™ Pacer Test is a multistage aerobic capacity test that progressively gets more difficult as it continues. The 20 meter pacer test will begin in 30 seconds. Line up at the start. The running speed starts slowly, but gets faster each minute after you hear this signal. [beep] A single lap should be completed each time you hear this sound. [ding] Remember to run in a straight line, and run as long as possible. The second time you fail to complete a lap before the sound, your test is over. The test will begin on the word start. On your mark, get ready, start.
