Dude I am so grateful to you. I found this video 3 months back and have been doing these since. And I finally have reached my desired results all thanks to you! I can fluently throw high kicks and it's feels great! How can I ever repay you 🙏
I just started doing these stretches a week ago and already feel a lot more flexible. If you do these everyday it's over. Love it. Thanks for the video tip man.
Anaz Blackie Actually, that's only part of the equation. Muscle is the strength and weight aspect. But speed is the other part, arguably the most important. A car which weighs several hundred times more than a bicycle will hurt less going at 2 mph than said bicycle going at 40 mph. By this logic speed is much higher yield than building muscle mass. Plus, the thing about speed is that it doesn't always require decreased muscle mass to increase, whereas increasing muscle mass will always result in a direct loss of speed, meaning you don't gain as much power- if any at all- from doing so.
+julian12465 i must mention that if the guy earlier meant muscle as in mass producing raw power. Than it cannot be overlooked that the faster an object travels the more mass (muscle/power) it obtains. For example if you were to travel near the speed of light, then you'd literally weight more than a planet, if not much more. But I get what you're saying though. :) .
Thank you for telling people to warm up before we stretch. So many are told from childhood to stretch first, often even ignoring warm ups all together. Muscles can be though of like rubber cords, if you pull on them when they are cold, they are more likely to tear or get injured. Thanks for all your content.
I don't know why I unsubscribed a while ago but now that I found my way back to this channel I'm never leaving again.Very high quality videos, keep up the great work.
Good pointers, Shane. I've been doing these in ballet classes for years (though I haven't got my full splits-it's way better than it used to be). Highly recommend all these as well as ballet barre(or floor barre) stretches-there are a bunch on youtube. It all translates into better kicks("battement" in ballet parlance). Cheers!
Hey shane, in yoga the stretching at 1:00 we do it by keeping our knees straight and our hips up as much as possible and try to get our elbows and head to the floor between the legs, without going to the front and we try to touch our knees with our head but always keeping the hips back, so the hamstrings and legs in general are getting so much flexible, just a tip, keep it up, great work, greetings from México
few years ago i did these stretches cold and that was the worst thing i ever experiened, i couldnt walk for days and it fel like stabbed me in the groin area 100 times.
For those who aren't as flexible or jus starting out i recommend bumping that 30 second hold to a 20 or 25 and build. Don't overwork yourself! Do what your limit is then build up to surpass it!
Hey ***** , do you think you can make a full video where you go through all the stretches in the video for the full 30 second length? It would be much more enjoyable to stretch along than to constantly pause and count.
Shane, you're awesome. I am indeed a 10th Planet Jiu Jitsu student and the butterfly stretch is one of our core stretches; it's fantastic to see it becoming more and more popular by the day, especially after Metamoris 3 :). Your are 100% correct that is impossible to perform a middle split or some other complex stretching without activating the muscle fibres meaning implementing some small low intensity stretch. My martial arts is known as karate and I nearly convert a middle split into an asset therefore just require a little more practice. Hello Shane, I want to thank you for this video and video ''Stretches to do Before a Workout or Fight''. Both of them are of great use to me, even if my purpose is not for high kicks but simply for the flexibility of the legs.
fightTIPS Hi Shane. I started doing Karate about 5 months ago. Just wondered how long it takes approximately doing these streches before I start seeing some results in flexibility. Seeing I'm nearly 35 I guess quite a while. lol
I'm 36 and I used to do high kicks easily. I realized a couple of years ago, somewhere down the line that ended, BADLY. Can't even side kick above my waist anymore. Anyways, started doing these stretches and holy CRAP do they feel good. Really feeling the changes in my flexibility and overall blood-flow in my legs. Will be doing these every day. Thanks!
Shane, I just wanted to say thank you for providing all of these tips. You are doing a very good thing helping out those extra encouragement. Keep it up. Good bless
IONS LEGACY you should feel a slight pain especially because each of these stretches has you fully extending the leg, after some time you should no longer feel any pain during your stretches. If you do these for about a month or so every day and you still feel pain, then maybe you are doing something wrong or you should consult a physician
Lord Humungus Thats funny because, the stretches he does are my warm ups but i don't do them for 30 seconds, i do for 10 seconds. Also, it doesn't take 17 years, i've been doing these stretches for 15 years without this video.

Thanks dude. Currently practicing Silat, my years of boxing has ruined my once high kicks, my hips feel as if they'll snap any moment. This helps a lot.
Any styles are effective, but for me without the power of your mind and your brave heart you won't win a fight even though you're good at taekwondo or anything else. That's just my opinion, cause i once got bullied a year ago and i didn't manage to punch/kick him because my heart back then was weak even though i can punch real good.
tsukada yamato You're so damn right (well that pony of your profile is kinda gay, but that's none of my business). If you don't have the will to fight, then you won't get far, no matter how hard you train, it's all a state of mind.
JINO JIKITOMO Actually not too much If you need street fightings learn kung fu (For those taekwondo lovers THIS IS JUST AN OPINION don't argue with meh)
I'd forgotten my tae kwon do stretching but this video reminded me of them and I'm definitely happy to get back to stretching since I lost so much of my flexibility ever since stopping for years.
For use in practical application, I would say yes, in terms of form, I'd say a heap of professional Tae Kwon Do blackbelts, Tang Soo Doo guys would smoke Lee in terms of proper kicking technique and form. But fighting? Bruce had a good overall philosophy, well-rounded, like an MMA fighter before MMA became popular.
Hey, thank you very much for this video, I've been looking for this for a long time ! I am planning to take up Muay Thai, so I need to have good kicks for that, I will do this routine every day now, but I am the stiffest person alive it seems. I am under the impression that it's my lower abs and back that are the stiffest part, and it makes some of the exercises on the floor harder to do, but I will keep it up, and get better thanks to you ! take care and stay awesome

I just wanted to say thank you for providing all of these tips. You are doing a very good thing helping out those extra encouragement. Keep it up. Good bless
Shane, am I supposed to feel pain behind my knees after the stretching process?
Pains shows your doing it right.
IONS LEGACY you should feel a slight pain especially because each of these stretches has you fully extending the leg, after some time you should no longer feel any pain during your stretches. If you do these for about a month or so every day and you still feel pain, then maybe you are doing something wrong or you should consult a physician
Just came here to say that this is legit and I'm glad I followed your instructions 2 years ago when I first saw the video.
If youre a beginner at this, about how much time would it take to get used to these stretches?
Talking from experience, about 17 years.
MrCrystalm8 17 YEARS!?!?!?!?
Roshan Patel Yeh, it usually takes longer for average folk, but thanks to my natural ability to be very flexible, it only took me 17 years.
MrCrystalm8 Not sure if you're trolling, but if that is the case something is wrong with your anatomy. It took me only about 4-5 months.

love u shane :) great video i learn self defense from you, kwonkicker, gnt it really great!!but i still can flexbelity
is taekwondo effective in real street fight ?
ok :)
If you don't have the will to fight, then you won't get far, no matter how hard you train, it's all a state of mind.
dssblink That's with every sport btw.
JINO JIKITOMO Actually not too much If you need street fightings learn kung fu (For those taekwondo lovers THIS IS JUST AN OPINION don't argue with meh)
thanks Shane best flexibility vid on youtube in my opinion
Rafael Aghayev.
I'd forgotten my tae kwon do stretching but this video reminded me of them and I'm definitely happy to get back to stretching since I lost so much of my flexibility ever since stopping for years.
lmao this dude sound like bam margera
First day doing the whole series. Took me around 50minutes. Thnx!
i can touch my feets :') jajaja >
,I love the tips this guy gives. especially kicking the bag with the shins that stuff hurts
Best kicks? Bruce Lee. No contest.
Bruce lee WAS that best
For use in practical application, I would say yes, in terms of form, I'd say a heap of professional Tae Kwon Do blackbelts, Tang Soo Doo guys would smoke Lee in terms of proper kicking technique and form. But fighting? Bruce had a good overall philosophy, well-rounded, like an MMA fighter before MMA became popular.
+Mr. Goat nah,ip man was
ip man was 0 in china in movie he was awesom
no...there was a conest...a contest of him...and the gods... 0.0 ...
It's hard to do these while you're on your period
+1

hahahaha! I was just thinking the exact same thing
So fucking disgusting.
