Hey Gabriel the video is really helpful, but the last part of training is difficult. I can't grab my knee when I try to go higher. How can I fix that? Should I use a rope to grab my leg or is there another way?
Love the drills but my question is you have 3 different videos posted to help with higher kicks and there are different exercises in each. One from January y, 2020,one from September 2023 and this one. Does it matter which one we pick as long as we do the exercises 3-4 times a week or is one set of exercises superior. Love the content you post
I am 32 and i starded kick boxing 2 months ago. I was doing calisthenics and weight training for many years but never trying to be better at me flexibility. I just try these exercises and i suffer. It's really difficult to raise my leg. I really want to learn high kicks. Thanks for the video brother!!!
@@DavidRFIT Really? That's great brother. Are you doing these exercises on the video? Do you have anything else to recommend? I respect people who started something even if they are older than me. You give me power! I see all this video with muay thai fighters (not professionals only) who hit pads so hard and raise their legs so easily and i really admire it!!! Go on brother, big respect for you!!!
@@ΧάρηςΝικ-λ7ε Now and then I do other exercises I found here on Gabriel's channel. If you go back he has a lot of hip stretching and kicking exercises. Also, even if I do muay thai only 4 hours a week, every single day after gym I do 15 to 20 minutes of only kicking the bags instead of regular cardio like threadmills etc. I'm 190cm (about 6'3 feet) pretty stiff but now I (more or less) can head kick someone my height. Thanks a lot for your kind words!

Straight up I have been slacking on my kick mobility for years. I seriously have been doing that chair drill every day and the others the last 4 days since the video came out and already I have seen a difference. I just kicked over a small water bag without the awkward tug in the hips I have been feeling as I get older. I really think I was losing my ability to pivot correctly, and that focus plus the leg strength and stretching in motion already has started bringing more mobility in my hips. Excellent drills I will be doing more of!
This rules so much ! I'm glad to see this in a different format as I've been doing several of these very similar style, but not set up how you did them here. At least it gives me the certainty that I'm on the right page regardless.
Thank you. This is very useful. I haven't thrown high kicks since my early 20's. Now I'm almost 40 and my legs are stiff AF, I couldn't round house to the head anymore like I used to.
I have been so bad with my flexibility that I simply don't kick aside form low kicks. I'm hoping this will be very helpful. Thanks Gabriel. I've been lamenting this issue for a long time
Those are some pretty awesome exercises. Working both flexibility and strength. I think most people don’t realize how big a part hip strength plays in kicking high.
This will 100% be a must to try out and see if my kicking flexibility improves further more Gabriel, the routine that really helped me out with my high kick flexibility was the Wonderboy Kicking Challenge which I could do with completiton without dropping even once like 90% of time but hurting my glutes and harmstrings a lot after to doing the full exercises with no breaks, only a break to switch between legs Gabriel, I would say it took me around half a year to get to that stage of having that much of flexibility and strength in my legs Gabriel, thank you so much for this awesome video I recommend everyone to try out the routines as well as this one which Gabriel posted in a video format, I am telling you from experience these exercises work 100% and I still maintain them 3x a week to this day! 🥊🎉
I’m fortunate to be able to high kick in middle age because I’ve been obsessed with training high kicks and doing the splits since I was a kid. Another great video
Thanks for all the helpful videos, I've been watching for a while and you have really helped me with my overall health and discipline. I've been doing some of your stretching/exercise routines for the last 2 month and I find my kicks flowing a lot better!
Hi Gabriel, pretty instructive as usual. Can it also happen because of anterior pelvic tilt? (Which pulls the hamstring thus over pulling it when we throw kicks)?
@@samarvir126 exactly what I have been tackling lately, stopped Thai Boxing for 2 years because of injury, started again but I have been neglecting glutes and abs.
Thanks for this video, Coach. When I try to throw a higher muay thai roundhouse kick, it feels almost like bone grinding together when i turn my hips over. Will these stretches help with that or do I just have a bodily limitation?
Man I can't thank you enough for this, this is exactly what I needed. Something that doesn't take 30 minutes or an hour when you're tired after work. A quick question though, how often (per week) would you suggest doing these exercises to actually get a good result?
I'm so tight that I can't even get into the positions properly. I'm not 90º, my windshield wiper is maybe moving an inch, and the over round I can't do at all. Hopefully, you can make a prequel to this video eack movement one separate amd how to get into it seperated one at a time because im not there yet, and when I look in the mirror, I can see I'm doing everything wrong.
Do you reccomend just this or should I do more flexibility and mobility drills ? Because I wonder if it's gonna work for all types of high kicks that im trying to throw but can't on a proper hight ( like tornado kick , question mark kick etc )
Will this also work for us young guys (35+)? Havent training in like 20 years, and while i can do a decent leg kick, any side kicks above hip... not great...

Looking forward to this. My hamstrings are so damn tight 😂.
I could have used these drills many years ago, but now is better than never. Thank you for the information.
I bought one of those stretch machines and I follow this yoga girl with a combo of some of these….. my high kicks and face teeps are on point now

Hi Gabriel, pretty instructive as usual. Can it also happen because of anterior pelvic tilt? (Which pulls the hamstring thus over pulling it when we throw kicks)?
Don’t worry about it just do these stretches and exercise your abs and glutes. Then your anterior pelvic tilt will go away.
