I'm in the same boat same age. I found out the majority of my knee issues are related more to tight adductors and hip flexibility. Had a similar issue in my shoulders due to spending the last 10 years bent over a desk. I had rounded forward shoulders and anterior tilt. This guy is great about focusing on hip flexibility vs. hamstrings.
This man is the only one to follow if you want to fix your hips, ive folowed his videos for many months and DAMN theres a difference, Gabriel Varga I owe you my thanks, you've changed my life!
Your kicking routine video a while back completely transformed my hips. I’ve intensified the routine and I’m finally feeling like I’m developing kickboxer hips now. Thanks so much gabriel

When i first started this video about a month ago it was hard.. Especially lifting my leg on the 3rd one...but after doing this video and the other one with all the kicks and stretches I can now rotate both feet with coordination and lift my leg 6 inches of the back of the chair. Thank you
@@waterlegend72 I did some research back then when I was looking for shin guards. Fairtex has some real nice quality. I bought their shin pads SP5 and they are really good quality. You see this brand often on professional fighters too. The Twins SGL-7 are top notch shin guards as well if you want an alternative. Next time I need new boxing gloves I'll buy fairtex BGV-1 gloves. Hayabusa T3 seems nice too, but I think you get more for your money on fairtex. Venum from what I have experienced is inferior quality compared to those two. They are more focused on having a "cool" design. I have some stuff (thai pads and kick shield) from Phantom which is an Austrian manufacturer (Andy Souwer advertising for it). They may be not quite as well on the level of fairtex but they have a good quality for the price and often some deals. I also bought my previous gloves from them for just 35,-€ but a seam is opening up on them after 1,5 years of training.
Nice little drill sequence 🙂 I was just watching some stuff yesterday on dynamic stretching for improving kick mobility, and this sort of thing was pretty much what that suggested for getting higher round kicks, too.
Hi Gabriel. Love your channel. I'm 58 and new to martial arts. I have been an ultra runner for years and have made the move to Taekwondo so my wife and I can enjoy the sport with our daughter. I have never used my hip flexors in this way so these videos are really helpful. Outside of these drills, will doing some practice kicking most everyday help loosen up and strengthen up the hips and take the stiffness away? Kickboxing is up next! Thanks for all the great content.
Merci beaucoup ! Je n'ai pas encore essayé mais je sens que celà va etre efficace, c'est exactement ce genre d'exercice d'assouplissement dynamique que je cherchais
This is amazing. A striking channel with technique, mobility, all provided by Gabriel Varga. Just superb. Thank you so much for this, abrazo desde Argentina
This is just what I needed! I can roll my ankle over pretty easily for round / question mark kicks but my hips can't roll over without rolling the ankle too much as well so my kicks go upward instead of straight across.
Thank you so much Gabriel. You are the man. I was so frustrated today after my kickboxing session. I couldn’t even lift my leg for more than 2 seconds without hurting my hip. I followed along with your routine and i can feel the progress immediately
I do this exercise and I feel the stretch in the groin and hips but feel more stretch/ pinching pain in lower back above hips. Thoughts? 31 years old with a slim build.
I think that honestly people 'blessed' with flexibility and punching power are often forgetting the amount of hard work they did as a kid and as a teenager that has allowed them to be blessed with their current attributes. Just my 2 cents; I wish I'd started younger!
I picked up kickboxing last week and my fkn god I'm stiff..not the good stiff either cause i can be kicked off balance pretty easily even by a 15 year old in my class lmao!! Thankfully I don't need too much drilling for my punches and can get the combinations down after a few attempts..i was doing a cut when I started doing lessons and now I'm gonna be losing weight more so for the mobility aspect rather than getting abs haha.
Some people also just have a weird natural flexibility. A friend of mine about Gabe's age can kick to head height easily and can completely bend their wrists over their feet in a hamstring stretch despite never stretching or practicing.
Yo gabriel can you do a video on how to take punches to the body and the quickest way to recover from being winded from a hit I can't seem to find a how to video anywhere.
When do this kind of routine? I'v heard stretching isn't good after training session, but this is more mobility exercice. Can i do them before a kick training session on the bag, or after? Or this is better rest day?
hey bro. i train muay thai and i have stif hips. theis drills that you show'd are good. when i do them befor muay thai train after wormup. or at the end of the training???
I would mix it up and see what helps you feel the most improvement. Before might help you kicks flow smoother but after will have a better chance of loosening them deeper as you're really warm and can probably stretch further.
Mofo starts saying his blessed with god-tier hip's mobility and then proceeds to teach hip flexibility for stiff people eventhough he has never struggled so he has no idea what the struggle & overcoming it actually feels, lol

Actually after covid gym pause I really struggled with my flexibility and this is a real amazing exercise I will use at home when I'm bored!
I'm 41 and took a decade and a half off, now my hips are stiff and head kicks are much harder. Did this drill once and could feel immediate progress!

And good for you taking the time to stay consistent with training this.
Have u ever thought about doing a video ranking the best equipment you have used, gloves/shin guards etc¿
Or a ranking video with the best pieces of training items?
1) Thai pads
2) Boxing mitts
3) Boxing noodles
4) Kick paddles

I usually focus on time as oppose to sets. I think 5-10 minutes 3X a week would lead to good improvement.
