DAY 3 of EPIC | Bodyweight Core & Abs Workout

- Day 3 in the EPIC Program and let's hit the abs and core! This core and abs workout will involve using our bodyweight as resistance to hit the entire core and the abdominal muscles.

The upper and lower body will of course be involved in many of the movements particularly the plank variations.
Balance, control, isometrics, dynamic.. it’s all in here! This is a workout to strengthen your core to help improve your overall training and prevent injury.
You will simply need a mat!
The timer is for 50 seconds of work and 10 seconds to get ready for the next exercise.
Please ensure you warm up for at least 5 minutes prior to beginning. (See link below for my new warm up routine)
Control each lift & lower and take it slow!

Most of the people here in the comments said they did horrible! I taught that too and then realise that I showed up and did everything I could with the strenght I have right now. This is what really matters. Be patient

Idk if there'll be a person reading this or not but I remember the first time I did this workout, I could only went up till half of the video and end up crying realising how weak my core were at that time and I feel so frustrated that I couldnt do most of the exercises properly. But I came back here again after finishing epic I and currently is halfway through epic II and I'm happy to say that I could finally finish this whole workout and do all those moves I had once struggled to do before. I just wanna say to those who feel like they are having a hard time perfecting their moves or getting through this in general, dont give up yet! Just keep on pushing yourself and give your body a chance, it'll surprise you in a way you would never imagine it could :) You'll one day look back and thank your past self for not giving up. We got this!!

some modification tips that helped me get throught this workout:
1. dont focus on the timer, do 15 reps of each exercise
2. if 15 is too hard, do 5 reps followed by 5 seconds break 3 times
3. any plank exercise you cant do just do a normal plank and hold it
4. again if u cant hold it for 50 seconds hold for 20s, 5s break, 25 s
5. if u need to, take a 2 min break mid workout at 50% in (or 5 but no more cz u will lose momentum)
6. i know it seems really hard and u r ready to give up but remeber that tomorrow u r going to thank urself for not giving up today
7. remind urself that there is no rush and that U CAN DO THIS!!
These are fantastic tips, and I use similar ones myself! Another good tip is to look at the screen now and then, because sometimes Caroline is also taking a break from the madness!

I second everything that @pixiecherries8024 said. In addition for some of the moves I just did negatives such as the straight leg sit up until I'm stronger.

Learned something about myself today: I have absolutely no core strength. Most of these moves were impossible for me, but I did my best and pushed through. Was very encouraged by all the comments here showing I am not alone and should not give up. Thank you!

Exactly. This would have been an easy workout but because of the soreness it was just as hard as day 1 and 2
Me, but Now I Am doing it little by little, not pushing it too hard, until I gain more endurance.
Day 1 & 2.. even if I didn't do them this would have suffered just the same doing this one
my core hurts just from yesterday's pushups and the pain in my legs makes me think twice about sitting (getting up is rather horrible)
this would've been the case for any new workout so just gotta push through the 1st week(s)

Me too! My midriff i glued to the floor. I can lift my shoulders up just about, but that is it. Legs and arms i really enjoyed. This was an EPIC fail for me.

This ia literally the hardest core workout ever. The moves are so hard😭I stopped in the middle to see if I was the only one having difficulties
you are definitely not alone! I stopped half way and starts another body part workout
1st day, legs 🦵, glutes n hips are burning
2nd day chest, shoulders, back are burning
3rd day stomach, abs, neck are burning 😩
Really curious 🤔 what next, as only body part left is fingers and tongue 👅.

This was a serious test of endurance... my abs were really starting to struggle around the halfway mark, and then we got to the hover to sit up exercises and my abs were like "nope" - I had to settle for crunching up as high as I could instead. Hopefully with enough training I'll be able to do those exercises properly one day.
It's no wonder how you have such incredible abs, Caroline 💪🔥
Me: It's fine, 50 secs is only 10 more secs than 40

Day 3 and gave up on 65%,
I feel really hate on myself, I was crying that I can't finish it. My body can't take it anymore and it's really heavy to do. I feel so frustrated.

GUYS, I DID IT! I FREAKING FINISH IT 😭 JUST TOOK SOME TIMES FOR ME TO REALIZED THAT I MUST CONTINUE THIS. BECAUSE I FEEL MORE FRUSTRATED IF I DIDN'T FINISH IT AND I DID IT 👏

I was two thirds into the workout when I wanted to quit. Then I saw all the comments and encouragement. I thought I was the only one having a hard time with this. I couldn't do most of the exercises and it really demotivated me. Doesn't help I dislike doing core exercises. But because of the comments I decided to push through. So thank you. And I really hope to improve my core. This is the first time I have committed to a program so I really want to stick with it.

@@alexastyles747 unfortunately I haven't. My doctor said I can't work out for a while because I have an infection in my knee and it is swollen. I haven't been able to work out for two months :(

- Plank hover opposite leg raises : Anyone else have sore wrists from yesterday? Still building my upper body strength so the hovering was hard lol.
- Single Arm Hover hold: same as above😅
Favorite Part:
-All the AB moves. Again, Caroline has moves I've never seen before. Which means we are working new areas and I'm here for all of it!
Day 3 was intense. Thought it was gonna be easy since we were on the mat 🤪.

I'm currently in a tiny temporary student bedroom. Felt like a total dweeb rolling around on the floor wheezing for most of this but so glad others found it the same. Gave it my best and didn't seem to struggle with the simpler crunches and sit ups so I think that means I did ok? 😬😂 My back kept sticking to the lino floor and making fart sounds...

I'm working through epic, now on day 25 but came back to the infamous DAY 3 which left me crying afterwards the first time. I actually got through it ok this time! Just one or two moves were quite difficult. I am so proud of myself for moving past the emotions of feeling deflated, weak, and in pain, and continuing on the program.
Hi Caroline, been going to gym for years and lifting heavy weight, but since lock down could only lift smaller dumbbells at home. I started doing your 1 hour full body works outs and noticed a massive improvement using lighter weights with quality functional and complex movement . So decided to follow your EPIC programme and really enjoy it . More rewarding than just pushing heavy weights and going through the motions. So thank you for posting these.

Never in my life would I have thought that I would finish a 40 minute abs workout..! But oh MAN the single arm hover hold was a challenge! Working my way up to being able to do that move full out. What I absolutely love is that most of these moves are completely new to me and they make it interesting, exciting, but most of all challenging which proves me my strength = proudness. Thank you for Day 3!

2 months later, the planks are still hard to hold. Perhaps after that tough arm session yesterday, it’s especially hard.. Struggled with the plank hover hold once again, but I think my form is better than the last time! Overall, I definitely performed the moves much more precisely and for much longer than I was able to before. I was surprised when we were already half way through! Gotta love the core burn!
Wow. Let me just say....wow! I had never heard of Caroline Girvan until about a week ago from a friend. I came here to try EPIC and am on day 3 and this killed! I could not make it through half of these moves. I am excited to finish EPIC and hopefully will be better at this one once I get stronger! I am excited that there are EPIC II, EPIC III, and even more that I can do after this too. Love the workouts and videos so far. Caroline Girvan, these workouts are FIRE!
Great workouts, I highly endorse Caroline's training! For the guys who are looking at this, try it out! I spent my military time in the US Army Rangers, so I know a bit about functional fitness. This young lady will kick your butt if you are not in peak condition, and will help get you there if that's your goal. Extremely well done programming and presentation, can't believe its available for free.

In the beginning it was really hard because I wasn't really fit, but after just a month I already feel stronger and I'm really proud of myself. You inspire people to work harder and I absolutely love and admire that.

This was so good and it was pretty easy for me because thank god I had found a 10 minute abs workout from you, that had lots of holds after each exercise. I have been doing it for a couple of weeks now, so I was prepared for this one. I shall come back to this. Thank you Caroline
I never thought I would actually enjoy workputs. Your videos are the only ones I don't keep clicking to see how long is left and I love that there are no repeats!
I'm going to the beginner's level for this one. Can't wait to gain the strength to complete a workout like this
I have made a list of workouts that by the end of these 10 weeks, I hope to be able to do at the very least 5 reps of:
1) diamond push ups
2)curtsy lunges
3)bird-dog plank
4) plank for the whole 50 seconds
5) V-ups
6)single leg crunches
Idk why but this ab workout video has me the most excited to see how far I will come with it :)

Not gonna lie, I had to fight the little voice telling me to stop. Especially with the plank variations at the beginning! definitely will work on my side planks and planks in general, but I loved the variations of hollow holds. So hard, but so good! Proud of myself!
I love your workouts! They have all been amazing. I'm 64 years old, so strength training is very important for me to do. I also got my 44 year old daughter started using your workouts and she loves them too!
I've completed day 3 woo!! But I was feeling the last 2 days and didn't feel like I gave it my all. I spent my 10 second rests trying to sit up to see what the next exercise was 😂 Looking forward to the next lot of weighted workouts. They are definitely my favourite.

Having done so many different home wokout programmes before, I can truly say that your videos are really geniuine as they are full of "new", "not usual" excersises. It was sooo hard&great, thank you for sharing it. :)
Day 1 legs, day 2 arms, day 3 stomach ... it’s official ... every part of my body now hurts🤣
Wowwwww hardest exercises for me were: hover to sit up foot reach + sit up cross arms(it was hard to keep feet fixed on the floor)+ single arm hover hold (very hard when holding on the left arm little bit easy holding on the right side) Day 3 what a smash for my abs 👏👏😘
I have only just properly committed to a Caroline Girvan workout series, after meaning to for a long time. I have started a few times, and then fallen off the wagon pretty swiftly. I don't leave comments on videos often at all, but I just had to on this one. I started EPIC 1 last week, and got to this day. I was so sore and only made it halfway through. I stopped again for a few days, but I realised I would be so angry if I didn't commit this time. I restarted week 1 this week and got to the same day. The weirdest part is that it was SO MUCH EASIER this week, even though I had only started working out last week?! I don't know how that works, but it has been a serious confidence booster for me and made me so faithful in the process. I used to be incredibly active and strong and I am so excited to get back to that with Caroline :)
I thought its only me who could not make it through the entire 50 seconds of each excercise, but seeing people in comments telling how they have improved with the upcoming workouts is making me look forward to the time when i come back and am able to do this entire workout... Going to stick through this entire epic series...
50 seconds on is a bit overkill tbh for core exercises and that almost 40 minutes in total, so don't be hard on yourself. I don't like today's programming much either. It seems too much/too long for core exercises only overall. Will do it of course, but yeah shorter durations are better for core, better managable. Sigh.
i was begging for planks. the end felt like my saving grace. toe touches are so hard!!!
Day 3 of the Epic 1 programme, This one was brutal. I've only make it to the 20-30 minute point on each workout so far... Here's hoping by end of the week I will be able to make it through a full video!

Such a hard workout - had to modify almost every exercise - but proud I kept going. Looking forward to coming back to this workout in the future and being able to do more!

I found the plank variations hard but still i tried my best.

I love your Epic program. I did the beginner Epic this summer. I’m on day 22 of the Epic program. I can’t wait to finish it. I’m getting stronger ever workout. You push me to do exercises I don’t want to do. I make up my own modifications from time to time, but I love working out with you.
I'm doing 75 hard (day 60!) and not really feeling like lifting so I searched for a body weight video and honestly the time flew by! That was enjoyable. No I couldn't do every move for the full time haha but I did a lot. Loved it
This was relentless!! Absolutely brilliant. I have loved every day of Epic. I look forward to the next instalment every day! Lots of improvement needed in my technique but will persevere. Already looking forward to Friday. 💪

Felt defeated today. That was very hard. My core strength is just not great and these were just too hard for me. 😩 I did finish but had to do 30 sec of work 30 sec off and had to modify most of the exercises 😞

I wish these moves were a bit easier. I felt like I didnt have the core strength to sit up at all the way Caroline did and the plank one arm movements phew! Dang that was hard!
It won’t challenge you if is too easy lol but I know this workout is so intense
Modify as you need to! You can do it! In the future you’ll look back and be super grateful for how challenging it was! I’m glad her workouts are challenging, I know that I can come back to them again and again and notice how much progress I’ve made and how much more I have left to go! It’s quite addictive

I like the no repeat format. Struggle with the plank my wrists hate them. Had to modify with bent legs at times but like everyone who has done this work out or all that have yet to do epic I done my best and that’s what counts. My spare tyre really gets in the way of some of the exercise but that’s why I’m joining in.
This has been the easier for me so far, I've been doing pilates for so long so I was familiar with all the moves and used to doing a million of some on the daily, but it was very challenging and enjoyable! I love that I don't have to waste time looking for workouts or jumping between 3-4 videos everyday and I love even more that I don't have to repeat videos every week.
Phew. I was feeling pretty good about the arms & legs - but this one made me feel like a wimp! Struggling! lol

I’m late to the party, but for anyone who needs it: you can modify, put your feet down, or do a different exercise and still be working HARD! Don’t beat yourself up for being where you are on your own journey! Most of us have a very different version of hard than Caroline 💜

Came to this channel for one workout as a change of pace. Enjoyed it so much I came back for another. Now I find myself doing Epic I with plans of doing Epic II right after.
