    I appreciate that you included footage of the indigenous people who live there. So many people only talk about the animals & act as if that's the only reason the rainforest should be saved. People matter too 🩷

    • @hanabiramochi
      @hanabiramochi Месяц назад +81

      ^This! Especially in the context of conservation, indigenous people should be platformed as they have the most experience with the environment!

    • @Cb138inRs
      @Cb138inRs Месяц назад

      i hate to be the bearer of bad news, but for the most part, those 'indigenous people' are more horrible than good for the rainforest. They partake in over fishing. And the worst trash pollution you can even imagine. Yes. THere are good people trying to protect it. But those people are figure heads who live off of tourist money. All have solar panels and big ass flat screens. They just live in mud huts. That water is so damn polluted from them just throwing garbage in it. Using it as a toilet. It's sad and disgusting. I take it you haven't really explored any third world countries either. Like Maya.

    • @Cb138inRs
      @Cb138inRs Месяц назад

      THose people are also the same ones destroying the rainforest. Yes. It's illegal to harvest trees. In certain areas. But you travel up and down that river and you'll just see tug after tug of illegal harvesting. To them. They are just trees. and plentiful. This one is worth X amount, and that one Y. OH and the Z trees. They are worth 2 thousand a ton. It's just there way of life. They are the reason the rainforest is in such decline

    • @tjhall1000
      @tjhall1000 Месяц назад +10

      i would almost argue that ppl dont even want to save the rainforest cuz of the people or the animals. its the fact if the rainforest dies, so does the entire planet we live on. without the rainforest, its just a massive extinction event

    • @dakaodo
      @dakaodo Месяц назад +1

      @@tjhall1000 I would argue instead that for such a large task requiring the involvement of far more than one person or one community with a specific focus, saving the rainforests can and should involve anyone who wants to help for whatever reason they value -- the animals, the people, the trees, whatever at all.
      And as hanabiramochi said, local communities and populations can often have the biggest personal stake and understanding of how the rainforest works. If you want to save it, support the communities who call it their home and heritage.

    It's like a friend (I know, very parasocial) filming their experiences and showing you their trip on their phone. To me, that feels incredibly authentic and true. So thanks for the videos and all you do, Maya and Alveus Crew. Best of luck in the future!

    3:40 I just had a really good giggle when Maya said it was really hot there but literally last week Rio just broke its own record of temperature, 60,1°C (140,18 °F). That day I literally thought I would die melting down lol
    You were very lucky not to be here (because you aren't used to it and could pass out) when this mass of hot weather came, even tho you weren't in Rio. Apparently, all of Brazil got hotter that day, but Rio needed to be the hottest place ugh 🙄
    EDIT: Maya, I just finished watching this video and I already want to see you return haha
    Also, I know that the Amazon is the most biodiverse forest in the world it drags a lot of attention but we also have a lot of other biomes with tons of endemic species. I would LOVE to see you return to Brazil with a trip through Pantanal with the biologist and conservationist Richard Rasmussen, he is a bit crazy but in a good way. He has been there a million times for national geography so he would guide you very well. As a fan, I'll also make this request for him ❤
    But please, think about returning! We have Amazon, Pantanal, Cerrado, Caatinga, Pampas, Atlantic rainforest, Matas araucárias, and Matas did cocais.

    When I went to Costa Rica the only hot showers I took were the first and last day there not because I didn’t have hot water but because cold showers were so nice comparatively

    MY JAW DROPPED AT THE PINK RIVER DOLPHINS, HOLY COW! Also amazing that the Indigenous peoples allowed y'all to come and see their practices! Including Native peoples in conservation is super important!

    24:34 it could be a juice made from one of three fruits that are consumed a lot in the north and northeast of brazil, those are Maracujá (Passion fruit), Murici fruit or Caju (Cashew fruit), although caju has a more clear (with less fruit particles or fibers in the juice) aspect to it, i would say its Murici, but hard to know, it depends on how it was preparated. Awesome video!

    I had a similar experience when my family visited Brazil and we even stayed at that same Anavilanhas resort! I was hoping throughout the video it would pop up, especially when you said you went to Manaus, and lo and behold it did lol. Thanks for sharing your trip!
