I'm 41. Fan of Chelsea since the early 90s. I was sceptical about a Spurs manager coming in but I was willing to see how it went as an admirer of his work. Backed him all season.because I understood the situation between devastating injuries and a freshly thrown-together bunch of inexperienced kids. He improved players, improved performances and results, reached Wembley twice getting knocked out by two of the three best clubs in England and pulled off a much more respectable 6th place, 5 points behind the Champions League spots. This is a disgrace, and I'm sure a big factor is that the board want to sell Gallagher, Chalobah and other 'pure profit' academy players and they want a new manager with no attachment to those players and who will go along with their transfer plans. This ownership have become very worrying in recent weeks with the legal transfers of ownership of Cobham and the hotels to themselves, and the sales of our best youths to make up for their extravagance. Now after preaching long term projects and patience, they are now going on to their 5th manager in 24 months. These owners have become suspect and are now under serious pressure and scrutiny with the direction they are taking. Unacceptable business.

Sadly, as a Chelsea fan, I think it probably comes down to player sales and working with the sporting directors. The board simultaneously want someone to come in and agree to whatever transfers the sporting directors decide to bring in, and also for someone that they're gonna be able to steer toward developing and using the players we've bought as opposed to our homegrown players. Homegrown = pure profit, so it looks better on the books. Young manager = less "clout" or less "reputation" to lean on. If the manager can't lean on said reputation, they have less basis to demand transfers and are therefore easier to work with. Or something.
It's not Todd Boehly making these decisions. He and Poch got along well. It's the sporting directors and Behdad Eghbali making these shocking decisions. Todd Boehly is just the front man for the consortium, not the decision maker

As something who is definitely not a Chelsea fan, this pleases me. Poch really looked like he was producing an effective and exciting team and this, at least partially, presses the reset button. It's probably put the project back a season and will end up costing them more as a good new manager will have his own ideas.

im not a poch fan but i dont understand the firing ... the team needs consistency atleast for a couple years to build something then if needed try to upgrade the manager but totally agree stability and consistency are a must for succesful team
