That is just as it should be. And men should protect all women, not just the ones to whom they are related. The problem is, so many men believe that for men to be "the protectors", women have to be subservient and "less than" the man. That's what is so great about the character Rip. He never asks Beth to be less than exactly who she is in order to deserve his love. And that, fellas, is "what women want."

It was the first season. Her character hadn't quite developed to that point yet. Here Jamie was the dominant one but as her character developed, she eventually had him in a proverbial headlock, so to speak. Her character became the dominant one and he became the softy that couldn't even stand up to her when he was pushed by his "girlfriend".
One thing I wanna point out for city folk at 10:06 Rip grabs Walker's knife out of his hand and hands it back closed. This is a sign of disrespect because country manners say if someone hands you their knife you hand it back in the same way. Excellent detail that probably gets overlooked a lot!

The biggest detail about this show being unrealistic is those cowboys wearing their hats inside. As a native born Montanan, and the descendant of cowpokes and ranchers, I was raised with this rule: no hats on inside any establishment, and no boots or hats on in the house.
I mean, sale barns, indoor arenas… both count as establishments though 🤷🏻♀️ In the south it’s normally just, not in church, or the house, and take it off when you eat. That’s it.
What's even scarier are how many are just like her, and they've never watched a single minute of Yellowstone. My ex was so much like her, just watching and listening to Beth gets me P.O.d all over again about things my ex said and did.

11:36, that right there at the heart of land ownership. Not to throw too much shade at the general public which we're all a member, but that sums us up accurately; They damaged it once and came back to damage it more. You'd think people would see something can it'd be enough to leave it as is but no. Every time there's a sweeping shot of the landscape, there is a person out there in the real world who does only think real-estate, or vacation spot or some other upheaval. The Dutton's are in the way of MORE money being made, they don't want the place to turn into Atlantic City, that kind of mentality is what destroyed that place. These places that are great BECAUSE they're untouched, but someone has slick talk about what could be. Just excuses to build parking lots.
I was born in 58 and things were definitely different then. The police etc were always too far away to resolve anything.
