Overall, the Rubies helmet is very loosely based on the ROTJ helmet, though it's much more clumsily painted and put together, whereas the Black Series helmet is closely based on the ESB helmet (with some slight inaccuracies), with higher-quality paint applications and materials. For a simple halloween costume, the Rubies is a good choice. For a screen-accurate Boba Fett costume, the Black Series is the way to go.
The Hasbro Black Series is the best budget Boba Fett helmet you can get. It's pretty accurate for what it is. It's interesting seeing how far technology has come and how good budget helmets are now with the Black Series.
I find it not that heavy (but I am used to wearing a motorcycle helmet with flip-up chin piece - the heavy kind). On mine, I put some more wear according to Boba's first armoured appearance in the Mandalorian. I am about creating a whole outfit around that. I wear it everyday for some time. You really get used to it (so I modified heavily the interior of mine with some old motorcycle helmet interior - that wobbly plastic thingy they supply is inacceptable for longer wear).
Although it’s more of a budget vs collector style helmet each of them look great for what they are. Of course the black series is made for the collector and for a more screen accurate appearance while the rubies has a good shape and for a costume helmet it would be a great mod platform that with a few changes can be just as good looking as the black series.
My rubies helmet came delivered in 5 separate pieces, I probably could have resembled it, but there was a sale on the black series for 40 bucks more, so I returned the plasticy rubies crap, and got the black series like I should have in the first place.
The Black is definitely the 'better' higher quality helmet but I think the colors are better on the Rubie version. Under bright convention lights the Rubie version color pop better for pictures. Most of the time you go to conventions and see tons of Bob Fetts. Is it screen accurate or not? Most aren't really going to notice. And you can always modify both helmets to suit your needs. The Black series doesn't have that padding at the top while the Rubies does....comfort wise I think that makes a difference but who knows. If you're on a budget the Rubie's is not a bad choice. If money is no object the Black is good. I've even seen people wire red leds in the the pull down viewfinder. Cosplay is a wonderful thing.
Great review. I have both but the Black Series helmet is slightly too small for me. If I removed most of the inside and just added padding it might fit better. Given the price and quality it can be for display. The Rubies fits me great straight out of the box. It'll need more work (paint job, tinted visor etc) but for a budget helmet it's great :)
Thanks! Totally agree on the value of the rubies. Definitely take out the interior straps of the black series and add padding. I have a big head and it perfectly now with pads. These helmets have both gone up a little in value lately!
I have a cartilage piercing so I was wondering if you think either or would hurt it, and can be pretty sensitive? Also, what would you say is the best way of getting them? What I mean by that is, say I was to get the Rubies where should I get it to save the most money, same for the black series?
this comparison is ridiculous the black series helmet is a superior quality helmet the rubies is a super low quality helmet . the black series helmet paint and weathering is made with the new technology called digital paint printing which gives a more accurate and precise deteil effect to the helmet the rubies helmet paint and weathering is so bad that look like was made by a 5 years old kid with a sharpie . also the black series helmet is based on the empire strikes back and the rubies helmet is based on return of the jedi that why are colors differences

I completely agree. When I suit up, most people don’t know the difference.
Best budget ? How is £150 budget ?
really helpful for christmas buying thanks man
You are welcome! Enjoy.
I think I'm gonna get the black series helmet because it has the visor and it's more movie Accurate. But the problem is, it's heavier so idk
It's not that heavy, I've had it for close to a month now and I love it.
That’s true. It’s heavier. But if you replace the strapping inside with padding, it helps with comfort.

I have a professionally painted rubies Boba Fett helmet but the Black Series version is also incredibly painted for the price.
I think it’s great! Most people think it’s accurate enough.

Got a rubies for around 50 bucks and I'm gonna repaint and mod. When new black series come out I def want one.
U should have so many more subs
Right?? 😔

Whether its from rubies, or you found a deal at barnes and nobles... This is the way🫡

The drab olive green on the Hasbro helmet is closer to the color of Fett's gear in Empire.
The rubies does not usually have lights, i have one of my own and it didn’t come with them
The battle damage looks so much better on the black series where the rubies looks clearly like it was hastily painted on with a brush.
Definitely like the weathering more on the BS. 💯

Black series is the best
Is the dent in the rubies helmet actually there or painted on?
Both have dents!

Probably wouldn’t be comfortable with the way it comes from the factory. Mods to the nose piece might be needed.
@@jamesdillard3411 Sorry, my fault for not being specific, I meant ear cartilage.
@@RandoMan07 I see. It’s snug on my ears, but every head is different!
@@jamesdillard3411 Thanks for the feedback, have a great day (or night, idk where you live)!
So what is the material for the black seits helmet
Both helmets are plastic.
I probably going to get the rubies
Rubies is fine if you’re on a budget. Good luck.
