What the episode did was to benefit both sides. It still confirms George Lucas's statement that Jango was not a Mandalorian by BIRTH of a pre-existing family, he was instead adopted by one. One can imagine that he respected the Mandalorians so much by his upbringing that he decided to adopt their culture and based his armor on them. So this way it satisfies both sides. Although he is not officially a pure-blooded Mandalorian he is still one unofficially and that by extension is true for Boba Fett, anything his father was is also applied to him.

I really like your explanation and I think it goes perfectly with another part of The Mandalorian. Bo-Katan says Din is “a child of The Watch”. Some people think that’s Death Watch, but I think it’s a sub-set of Death Watch...it’s foundlings. As such, the Children of the Watch could have had instructions to never remove their helmets because, in a very non-inclusive way, many Mandalorians may not have accepted them as well, but they were needed, The Children of the Watch’s dedication to foundlings, which they make a BIG deal about, could very well be because all the Children of the Watch are foundlings. Almec’s feelings may well have been common in some older sects of Mandalorians, thus segregating “The Children of the Watch”

This is the comic that the chain code references. This also answers the following question: is Boba Fett a Mandalorian? Many believed that were not the case after the exposition we were given in The Clone Wars but it would make little sense for the creatives involved to make such iconic characters that are the SYMBOL of Mandalorian culture, non-Mandalorian (plus, the said exposition did not make it certain). To me, it was always obvious that it was only a matter of time for them to confirm that both Jango and Boba were Mandalorian. The Mandalorian Disney+ series seemed like a perfect opportunity to do so.

When we think about it now, it was obvious Jango was a Mandaloria. The only thing Jango asked from the cloners was a non modified clone he could raise as his son... You don't really imagine a bounty hunter would ask to be given a kid he would have to take with him everywhere in his dangerous life... unless he is from a culture where it's a duty for any man to take a kid a raise him to be a warrior....
So Jango dressed like a Mandalorian, and acted like a Mandalorian.
However, Boba doesn't seem to identify as a Mandalorian.... but that may be something that will be explored in the future, if he doesn't die (and there is a chance he will, which would allow Din Djarin to inherit the Slave One)... will he take a foundling to perpetuate the Fett clan? Will he involve himself in the re-taking of Mandalore?

I think the best way to recouncile everything about this is that Jango fought in the civil war; and the old legend stuff put his mentor up against the Death Watch; so we can think Jango was against the Death Watch, leading to Almec probably looking down on an enemy, not recognising him as a Mandalorian, and not even knowing from where is armor came from, since he didn't really have intel on these enemies; not that specific at least.
He probably didn't knew that one of the Mandalorian of an enemy clan took under his wing Jango before dying, and thus granting him both the armor, and the honorary Mandalorian badge that comes with it... But Jango still is, because his mentor is.
That way you both have a canon Mandalorian Jango AND a canon Almec not understanding the situation and not recognising Jango as Mandalorian.

Since apparently Jaster Mareel is canon again then Almec's denial of Jango being a Mandalorian actually being a lie is further supported since Jaster was the last known person to have the Title Mandalore, Ruler of the Mandalorians and the direct opposition to the form of governmental system Almec was currently apart of.

What’s the exact comic he’s getting this comic images from at 2:45? I know it has something to do with Knights of the Old Republic but I want to read it myself
