  • The Elbow Lever, Bent Arm Planche and Peacock Pose are all very similar. If trained correctly each one can piggy back off the other to create some very cool Calisthenics moves like 90 Degree Handstand Push Up, Dead Press, Elevated Croc, Single Arm Lever and other Arm Balances.

    You're a real inspiration. I started bodyweight skills 3 years ago in my 30s. I've made progress, but It's been slow going, and I've worried at my age if I'll ever achieve some of the strength skills I'm working towards. I've read you also started in your 30s, and I hope to be where you are in my 40s.

      Yeah stick with it and keep consistent. As you learn the correct body positions the moves become much easier. Think of it like becoming older but wiser with your training. I started at 37 and I’m now 46 so you have plenty of time 🙃

    Personally I'd go for handstand push-ups and then try perfect every way you can balance in a handstand, then go with the 90° so that you can turn your hands in without falling

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  Год назад

      Yeah definitely that makes sense having lots of room to play and move with balance then you don’t overuse your strength to balance

    I love peacock/ elbow lever. And learning one arm elbow lever now. Maybe unlock the bent arm planche one day. So I just progress by getting the elbows wider and wider until they don't support the body?

      Yes and I would also include straight arm Planche leans and Pseudo push ups

    Interesting so the elbow lever is a little different from bent planche .. basically with the bent planche it’s less elbow used ?

    • @PaulTwyman
      @PaulTwyman  Год назад +1

      Yes both fun movements. I’m not sure when one turns into the other but definitely less contact for the bent arm Planche

      @@PaulTwyman yea I made an attempt it’s less contact less relying on the elbow have you heard of the croc lever ? I want to try that first time seeing it today my goal is to learn the planche I’m a beginner I know I have a long way to go

      Yes especially as you’re building strength and conditioning use the friction from arms against torso
